I have been going to this Ace Hardware for years and they have always been fantastic! Located in a shopping center at 7th street and Missourri, it's easily accessed from either street. Parking is usually good, but sometimes you have to park a little deeper in the parking lot because this shopping center gets pretty busy at times. The building is an older one, but very well maintained and clean. Walking in, you get the same feeling- clean and well kept. Their staff is friendly and willing to help. Allen and Ginnette have been an immense help over the years because they are a wealth of knowledge. They are the main reason I keep going back to this store! Now, as for the stock, it's a hardware store. They have all the same stuff as any hardware store, USA. Prices are pretty normal and I feel fair. Their staff does do a pretty good job of keeping the shelves stocked, so it's rare for them not to have something and the selection of small stuff like nuts and bolts is fantastic! I'm not sure if I caught her off guard with my stupid question " Could you please help me with some flexible spackle or caulking" or if it was just a bad night for her... Turning the closet into a safe place! I love this small little hardware store and they usually have what I need. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that usually the help is too busy gabbing with someone that they don't realize there are several people standing around waiting to ask them a question. The best help I've ever had in a Hardware store! This place is SWARMING with staff willing to help you. All of them wear goofy red Hawaiian shirts so you clearly know who is there for your benefit. The place is medium sized but they always seem to have two registers open, basically insuring that you are in and out in a very speedy manner. DO NOT GET KEYS MADE HERE! I am so annoyed with this Ace. I moved into a new place and needed to get keys made. The cashier paged someone and after waiting about 15 minutes I headed toward the exit, then he finally arrived. I had 5 keys made, 2 didn't fit. Went back to have the 2 fixed, 1 still didn't work. Ugh! Fast forward a year later and keep in mind my deteriorating memory, I once again had to get keys made and returned to this location. I got 5 made, 2 didn't work (sound familiar). When I went back to get the keys fixed the woman who helped me told me it is not usually the fault of the people cutting the keys, but the calibration of the machine. She assured me the machine was just calibrated so we should have no issues. And guess what? One of the keys STILL doesn't fit. read more

It's on a power corner featuring a cool divey bar (Pomeroys) a nice deli (Scott's Generations) a Bashas, a Starbux, Buffalo Exchange, the best damn bagels in town (Karsh's) and a few other things. So hey, all that and you can get hardware, too! Try not to drink before getting hardware. You might get the wrong stuff. Lots of bargain hunters put down Ace and think their prices are exorbitant compared to Home Depot and Lowes. And yes, their prices are usually higher for the same items. But in my case, I would rather pay a bit more more per-unit for wood screws than park a block away from the front door of HD, walk another block once inside, struggle to find exactly what I am after, be forced to buy twice the quantity that I need when I do find it, and then wait in line to check out. If I were still seriously doing home improvement (like drywalling a whole basement or putting up new rain gutters) I would still favor the big DIY chains. As a townhome dweller (rented at that) I choose to buy my cuphooks and cornbrooms at Ace. Also, they seem to hire attractive and exceedingly nice people here. I probably shouldn't say anything. Rode down here yesterday to try to find a way to fix my dryer. Walked around for awhile in the electrical aisles to no avail. Saw a younger guy stocking, handed him my giant old school fuse block from the circuit panel. He looked at it, said they don't have anything for me. OK, I figure I'll just go to Depot or Lowes. Given that all the houses in this area are older, it's to be expected that many still use fuses and not breakers. I didn't know this until I walked out to my bike, searched on my phone and discovered that the ancient green ceramic fuses corroded into my fuse block actually did come out. Walked back in, handed an older lady the fuse block, and she took me right up front to their secret stash of overpriced fuses behind the tool counter. Found what I need, paid way more than I should, but almost walked away empty handed because an employee that knew nothing didn't think to ask someone else that might know something. They helped me find exactly what I needed and guided me around the store introducing to me to each person in their department that could help with my project. I have been a customer of this ACE Hardware store for more than 15 years. The service is generally very good. Today I went in to grab a few items and was very disappointed to see none of their employees wearing masks. The simple act of wearing a mask shows respect for the customer and awareness of the ongoing COVID pandemic. From a public health perspective, there is simply no excuse for not wearing a mask when face to face with other people. read more

I just flew in from Los Angeles and our garage in Phoenix had just broken and needed some parts so I went to an Ace Hardware store ONLY because it was much closer to go to then Home Depot. One of my good friends went with me and witness the lawsuit I will be filing against these people who work there. I was wearing a very expensive Robert Graham backpack that had my personal things since I just flew in to town. I was told that I need to keep my expensive back back upfront with them. When I asked why, "you might steal something and put it in your back back. Wtf! So I asked again, and the same answer. Didn't they see what just happened at Starbucks a few days ago about a black man was refused a bathroom key because he didn't purchase anything and... Not only did it appear as the manager assaulted me because I took pictures of all the employees and he didn't like it. I asked him why did he push me he said he was just trying to leave bull crap. Really. Watch how I will make sure you go out of business! I am Jewish, handicap and have been suffering from cancer related illness and I have to endure this. read more

Stood in line on a busy Friday. There were around 10 people in line, patiently waiting to be called to one of two check out stands. A gentleman at the check out stand needed a price check and was told per older lady employee, whom was walking between both checkout stands, that he needed to go get the price himself. That same said older lady employee also then yelled at the remaining customers in line saying "What are you all just standing there for?! We have 2 checkouts right now and you all need to move up!" Never have I ever been treated like this at this particular location. Even the check out girl seemed annoyed with the customers. Get better employees who know how to deal with customer service! I'll take my business to bigger chains. read more

I was not happy to see any employee wearing a mask to help stop the spread of COVID-19 to your customers. 90% of the customers in your store were wearing masks which indicates they are doing their part not to spread the virus to your employees. Not sure why you don't provide same courtesy. Most all your employees are in their 20's and are likely carriers with no symptoms which means they can spread the virus. While I was in store one employee was coughing and then sneezed and again with no mask. As someone who works in health care and understands the risks I find this store policy not requiring masks appalling. read more

This place is so poorly run. 'The fish stinks from the head down'. I don't what is going on at this Ace, but everytime my husband pops in there he regrets it and comes home with a story. Today I went in to have some keys made. They were having a BOGO sale. The lady in front of me went to check out and was told her keys didn't apply. Ok...she wanted to pay the difference or whatever. Their response was, no, we can throw those away and get you different ones. She kept saying, I don't want keys to my house just put in your trash can, it makes me uncomfortable. They called a 'manager' over and were completely unaccomodating to her! She then left and while I waited for my keys to be made, the 'manager' and cashier stood there and talked about that lady behind her back. Going on and on about her and how right they are and how ridiculous she was and the manager said, 'Right lady, I don't care where you live!', as if that's what he wanted to say to her face. It went on and on between the two of them. I couldn't believe it. After the cashier rung me up, I said to them - "It's unbelievable to me that both of you would stand here and talk about your customer behind her back right after she walks out the door, loud enough for everyone to hear! And you're supposed to be the manager! I can imagine what you'll say about me when I leave." The 'manager' said, 'we weren't talking about her.' I said, "Yes you were, I heard the whole thing for the last 8 minutes and now you are lying to me!" He just turned around and walked away. read more

My review is for the Service area of this Ace. I came in with a bike seat that had a bolt too stuck for me to get out, it came from the factory really cranked in there, I had started to strip the bolt and the Allen key from trying. The store where I bought it was closed due to COVID so I was at a loss - I was convinced the bolt would have to be drilled out. Tim and Ed both tried but couldn't remove it. Tim requested that I return the next day and he could work on it for me. In the meantime, Ed got me set up with tools to try to remove it myself, but after working on it without much luck I decided to wait rather than damage the bolt any further or risk damaging the post. When I came back today Tim took the time to get it undone and to my surprise, the bolt was even still useable afterwards. He put the new seat on the post for me and made sure I was good to go. A big thanks to both Ed and Tim for their time and willingness to help - now I'll be able to ride my new mountain bike comfortably! Excellent, friendly service and thank you Tim for going above and beyond to help me. read more

Their name brand items are cheaply made even down to their store brand "Professional" duct tape. I mean every inch of this crap's webbing came OUT of and completely separated from the, what I guess they classify as glue. No way to contact anyone in "customer service" online to let them know they're selling crap and passing it off as Professional grade. What a joke, don't call it "professional" when the rate of failure when units (rolls) of ANYTHING have a total failure rate. Nice people . Way too slow service . Waited for someone to help me. Asked for help- was told to walk to battery section. Waited and no one helped. Then others who came in after me were helped and taken to the register yet no one was able to just grab me a battery behind a counter or ring it up . I stopped in with my boys to get some birdseed that I saw were on special, I believe it was buy two bags, get one free. I ended up not needing that much birdseed but I did find a very well-stocked section for birds and seed and feeders... I got a few items and my boys had fun going down the aisles looking at some of the different things for sale such as sports team items and outdoor play items. Outstanding service. I went there looking for a way to keep my dog from climbing on the dog pen. Staff showed me some tempered glass but it was way to pricey. They suggested cardboard could work and even directed me to a store to get spare cardboards. I came back withe the cardboard and they even helped me cut it into the sizes I needed. Bought zip ties and attached the cardboard to the dog pen. Very helpful staff and didn't push a sale but rather helped me get what was right for me. read more

I needed a few things from a hardware store and I searched Yelp looking for a store in my neighborhood. This Ace hardware was close. The parking lot is easy to get around in. The store is friendly. When I walked inside I stood at the entrance for a few seconds and a very nice young lady at the cash register asked if I need her help. I asked where I could find one item and she gave perfect directions. I asked for the second item, again she gave perfect instructions. First impressions can be the only impressions and she was fantastic. The prices are good and the store is very organized and clean. This will be my hardware store from now on. read more

So now I know my worth to Ace. I have always used this store as a super convenient Hardware store...,NEVER AGAIN!!! I was returning air condition filters for a different size ... Simple right--- WRONG. This exchange was not in their policy so they could not do it. Sometimes a business manager needs to look past a store policy to retain a great client. The filters probably cost them 2 bucks: compared to the hundreds of dollars that I have spent and the hundreds that I would have spent in the future... I am writing this review of the Ace hardware store at seventh Street and Missouri. I am echoing a review posted by someone named John who experienced the same thing I did. Before I went into the store I observed the customers who were entering and noticed that all of them were wearing masks, some were even wearing masks and gloves. Because I am seriously health compromised and based on this observation I made the considered decision to go into the store. I was VERY disappointed to see that there wasn't a SINGLE employee in that store who wore a mask. A day later when I called to talk to the manager about this , the young lady who answered my call told me because it was a corporate decision to allow each independent owner to make his/her own rules this store did not require employees to wear masks. I'm therefor assuming that the owner of this store does not respect his customers nearly as much as his customers respect his/her staff. It's obvious the staff doesn't care either. With the economy being in such a dreadful state I am also surprised the business owner would not want to make his/ her customers feel safe and welcome. In my opinion that's a very bad business decision. I will never shop in this store again because of this uncaring attitude. This decision makes me rather sad because it is my neighborhood hardware store and I do like to support my local establishments. I will also be passing this experience on to my family, neighbors and friends. read more

The folks that work here are the best. They are always incredibly helpful, and the really seem to know what's what with hardware. We're new to Phoenix, and they've been very patient and have given good advise when we've had questions about the best approach to yard work or minor repairs here as opposed to Pittsburgh where we moved from. Yea, they may not have everything - if you want to look at 10 different lawn mowers, this is not the place. But for most things they have it, it's easy to find or to get help finding it, and you can get in and out easily. Gee, I think I'm describing a neighborhood hardware store!! This is my local Hardware store and I do a lot of remodeling and DIY jobs on a regular basis. Just had an awful experience there where I walked in to find a replacement part. The lady couldn't work out the conversion of millimeters to Inches, so I worked it out for her. she then got up set that she had ti find a measuring tape in inches!? And was rude about it. in her words "Why did I have to go and get a measuring tape for?" Really? so i left without buying the part and I will no longer be returning to this Ace store again! read more

We've lived close to this Ace Hardware for 6+ years & bc there's no Home Depot close by, we run in here for odds & ends quite often. This is a nice store, they've got a good (not great) selection & the guys who work here are usually helpful. HOWEVER, the girls at the registers are NEVER friendly & they lack the common sense to say "thank you" after taking your money, This has been a consistent theme over the years. We try to go to the True Value at 16th St & Bethany Home when we can. True Value usually has lower prices too. The clincher for me personally was when I bought several things (incl some firewood) at the front register & right after walking out a manager came up to my car asking if I had paid for the firewood. This manager walked right past the girl at the register, who I had just paid, to get to me! She apologized, but I was really offended & annoyed that she didn't think to stop & ask the cashier if I had paid. Don't expect exceptional service & you won't be disappointed. read more

I am a strong handyman and this is my favorite hardware store ever. They really have everything. One aisle of just fine hardware.

Check out was a mess. Otherwise a normal store. Figure an extra 20 minutes for checkout.

Everything you might want in customer service is not here. Need tubing cut or the spray paint gate opened - plan a picnic.
