Chicken Pot Pie
Janine D.

I am widowed and dining out can be challenging... Often, the single diner is relegated to the bar area. Which is how tonight went. My service was slow and my waiter somewhat disinterested, certainly not friendly. I ordered the Pot Pie (only available certain days). It was delicious and beautiful. Maybe it would be a good training tip to consider that single people are often lonely, and go out to eat to be around other people. Extend to them an added dose of human warmth. You'll be a bright spot in someone's day!

Food was Yummilicious and the oysters were fresh and delicious. Great customer service. The bar area was elegantly designed, I wish I took pictures. I'll definitely come back!

Chicken pot pie

I am very disappointed with my last visit (8/4/26). I made a reservation and we were seated immediately to start things off right. We came to celebrate a birthday and this restaurant was the choice of said birthday girl. The reservation process was easy. We were seated immediately. We decided to start with bottled water (Aqua Panna) but several felt it just tasted like tap water and didn't drink it. A waste of money. The restaurant was packed so slow service was to be expected. Our waitress took our order shortly after being seated. Starting with a Ceasar salad, which was the best thing we had all night. It was light and flavorful. 3 of us ordered the much anticipated pot pie as it's now served on Monday and Tuesdays. Sadly we were all disappointed. It completely lacked flavor! This was brought to the attention of our waitress, where I told her it was flavorless and asked for salt and pepper (S&P) to try and fix it. We did receive those items + hot sauce. After 3 rounds of adding S&P, my dish was "ok" enough to eat. I personally felt this could have been handled better, instead of pretty much blown off. 3 of 4 people unhappy with their meal and no sorry, no offer to replace the dish or bringing it the managers attention. 5 mins later she came back to see if the S&P made it better. No credit to the bill, offer for dessert, nada!! Just the full check brought to our table for payment. After our bill was paid, we saw the manager and called him over. After notifying him of how horrible the pot pie was, he did provide a gift card as an apology to the person in our party who got his attention since our bill was already paid. The card amount is approximately enough to cover 1 pot pie including tip and tax (with a small bit left over). I do appreciate he tried to make it right(ish), but 3 meals were horrible, not just 1. I did have a good first experience here and hope there is quality control measures put in place as food like what we ordered should have never left the kitchen. With so many wonderful higher end restaurants in town, it will be a while before I give this place another try. BTW, they do not validate, so parking on the street is ideal or be aware of the time limit for free structure parking.

Scottish salmon
Kingston W.

We stopped by on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps due to the time, getting a table was easy, even as walk-ins. The available menu was the brunch menu. We started with appetizers: mussels ($23) and braised lamb belly ($25). For the main course, we ordered a ribeye steak ($69), Scottish salmon ($46), and "dirty pasta" ($36). Drinks included a glass of wine ($17) and a glass of Coke ($4.50). With tax ($23.15) and an "employee benefits" charge ($5.51), the total came to $249.16 before gratuity. The mussels are cooked in a broth of white wine, nduja sausage, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and parsley, with a toasted baguette served on the side. I liked the overall taste of the dish, but the mussels were small. The braised lamb belly was an interesting dish, as it was served with kimchi and thin sheets of daikon radish on the side. I assumed the idea was to make a "taco" by combining the three components. I liked it, though the lamb had bit of gaminess which might not appeal to everyone. The ribeye plate comes as steak only, with sides available à la carte. The steak was cooked nicely--juicy and flavorful, though I was a bit surprised by how rich it tasted. The "dirty pasta" features large rigatoni, ground duck, ricotta, and sauce. It was good, and the duck made for an interesting change from the usual beef. As a complete plated meal, I think the Scottish salmon was impressive--both for its visual presentation and the taste of the meal as a whole. The restaurant floor has a split-level design. Upon entering, you'll find a large oval bar surrounded by tables and booths. Step down a level, and there are seats offering views of the Long Beach marina. This area with a view is protected by windows--which is good, as the marine air is often cool and breezy. It seems that nearly all the establishments owned by this restaurant group have names starting with the letter or word "A." When searching online, use the words "a pch restaurant," as "a pch" alone is apparently too vague a search term. A final note to management: I was surprised to see a $5.51 charge for "employee benefit" on our bill. I playfully asked our server what benefits this covered, but they didn't know. They mentioned it could be removed if I objected, but I chose not to. My point is, if you're charging diners, shouldn't your staff be able to explain it? And if the line item can be so easily discharged, maybe you shouldn't be adding it in the first place.

Our first time at A PCH won't be our last. Visited for my husband's birthday dinner and got seated right against the glass patio wall. Within a few minutes, our drinks and started had been ordered (our starter was noted to take extra time). And by the time drinks arrived, we put in our entrees. Everything we ate and drank was outstanding. Beautifully plated and vibrant in color and flavor, it was a truly exceptional meal. And the drinks were very tasty. And dessert - delicious. Definitely plan to come back for a weekend brunch! One thing to note - restaurants at 2nd & PCH do not validate parking, and only the first 90 minutes are free.

I came here for happy hour and views, and I was not disappointed. I think this is a great place for a happy hour dinner date before shopping around with your friends at the 2nd & PCH plaza. I got squash blossoms, two orders of spicy tuna, whipped ricotta with fresh pita, octopus, and a pizza. Everything was simple, but well done.  I enjoyed everything with a couple of cocktails, which were all delicious as well. A PCH is definitely on the pricier side, but it's super worth it during Happy Hour.

The covered patio with the view of the marina is so great! It's such a nice spot for a weekend brunch. I am happy you can make reservations, as I'm sure this place gets busy often. I went that a group of friends and we share a lot of the plates. The appetizer fish tacos and the cheese board were really good! And sparkling wine bottles were half off.

First of all the hostess was so nice and friendly. She was very accommodating and our server was exceptional, Tammy. We went for lunch. My husband got the PCH drink and it was strong. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and burger with a side of Brussel sprouts. Everything we ordered delicious. We were so stuffed.

Back here for a second visit, but this time we stopped by just for the bar. Seating is first come, first served, and it was fairly packed on a Saturday evening, though we were still able to find two seats without too much trouble. The bar area itself looked great and felt spacious, making it a comfortable place to sit and unwind despite the crowd. I ordered the Gin Blossom, while my partner got a vodka-based drink along with a Long Island Iced Tea. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were made well and tasted great. We only stopped in for a quick drink and snack, but overall, it was a solid and pretty standard experience at A PCH. A nice spot if you are looking for a casual drink in a good atmosphere.

Hangar steak with fries
Lauretta N.

Friend and I came for lunch after a glowing review from a friend who loved their chicken pot pie which is only available Monday and Tuesday. They have a lunch menu that has an appetizer, main course and dessert. We both had the delicious Caesar salad. Hanger steak with fried was next. Fries were so yummy and steak had a lot of flavor and cooked perfectly. Marshmallow ice cream was last and the description on the menu didn't make me think it would be good. Wrong assumption. It was delicious with a caramel sauce. Service was excellent. Can't wait to try it again.

We'd been here a couple of times before, but only for drinks. The interior is quaint, with pretty typical Francophilic touches (pics of Parisian landmarks, etc). The drip coffee I got was great, however, and the hubby enjoyed his Veggie hash. Not a super huge fan of French cuisine; however, the menu looked good and mostly reasonable prices. Restaurant is super cute with indoor/outdoor seating. We started off with a bottle of cab (41.00, ouch)! It was noted as a different brand on their menu and they came with a bottle of Josh Cellars which isn't a bad table wine but about 3 times the price! We ended up ordering the fondue for the app (24.00) which comes with bite size pieces of bread and diced apples. It was ok, a little too runny and had an interesting hint of beer flavor. Next up we both ordered the brie & prosciutto sandwich which came with a side of au gratin and greens. The sandwich was excellent but the potatoes were cold. We ended our meal sharing creme brulee for dessert. It was good but also served cold. Total bill incl tip: 163.00 bucks (double ouch)! Overall, meal and service was good, but I would forego the wine on a future visit as it was way overpriced for the brand we got as well as the cheese fondue. Will definitely be back though. Very comfy and charming atmosphere.

My friend and I went on a Monday during the day around 12:30 noon. Reservations are required, but after 4pm they accept walk ins. They make you out a credit card down for the reservation and if you don't show they charge you a fee. I was not aware until I arrived but there is a time limit of 2 hours for the table. Since my friend and I went during the day I don't think it was an issue as we sat there for closer for 4 hours. The hostess was very sweet. She informed us that we could take pictures, walk around and videotape as well. The server was friendly as well. Since it was so empty during the day we didn't really see her as much and my friend and I were talking a lot. Together we ordered 3 alcoholic beverages, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert to share. The first drink I got was the clown pear-noia and my friend got the liquid lobotomy. They were served in fun Halloween cups that you can also purchase there. Second drink I got was the severed sun. All drinks were really good but definitely want to give a hats off to the mixologists because the flavors were great together. If you don't like craft drinks you may not enjoy these. I really enjoyed the severed sun the most out of those three. For the food, we got an order of sweet potato fries and the hatch chili Mac and cheese. Sweet potato fries were as expected, and came with Parmesan cheese topping and a black garlic aioli. The Mac and cheese was not spicy at all, but every so often I did taste a hint of spice. For entrees I had the short rib and she ordered the butternut squash ravioli. Both entrees were good and we both were happy with our selections. The ravioli tasted exactly like butternut squash soup. The short ribs had a nice glaze, but I do wish there was a bit more to help with the flavor profile (carrots were yummy and fresh, but mashed potatoes were kind watery). So to be clear, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food, it tasted good and we have no complaints, but it was not "oh my goodness this is amazing" good. So that is why I put 4 stars instead of 5. Overall I had a great time catching up with a friend. It wasn't crazy loud in there that we couldn't hear each other but it was pretty dark in there. I did also see a lot of children with parents, but after 9pm I believe there are no children allowed. This place is a must try at least once for the vibes! Will definitely come back for the Christmas pop up next month!

I never expected to find stellar cocktails and wings inside of a hotel, but you truly never know…read more Let's start with the cocktails; they are KILLING it. The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

Whether you're going for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, The Attic is one of those places that just has something special about it. They've got an outdoor patio, an indoor-outdoor patio, and a completely indoor dining area. Every space has its own personality. It's one of the most unique, eclectic restaurants you'll find in Long Beach. And if you love cornbread, oh my God, you have to try theirs! It's warm, buttery, served with honey, and absolutely delicious. I'm telling you, it's worth going just for the cornbread. The breakfasts are great. The lunches are great. The food across the board is fantastic. The bartenders are great. The menu has plenty of variety, and the whole place just has this incredible vibe. Imagine trying to find the restaurant with the biggest personality on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. That's basically The Attic. There's a certain energy to this place that's hard to describe. It's the same way Palm Springs has its own energy, or Melrose Avenue has a certain feeling you can't quite replicate anywhere else. The Attic has that kind of magic. And the best part? The food actually lives up to the atmosphere. The menu doesn't disappoint, the service is great, and the entire experience feels like something you won't find anywhere else. To me, The Attic represents Long Beach in every possible way. Because that's what makes Long Beach special, right? We're not Orange County. We're not Los Angeles. We're Long Beach. We have our own personality, our own culture, and our own energy. We're a little eclectic, a little unexpected, and completely ourselves. And that's exactly the kind of experience you'll find at The Attic.

Having visited The Attic many years ago, I was excited to return, but this visit was…read moredisappointing--not because of the food itself, but because of poor communication, inattention to detail, and weak customer service. I ordered the vegan sandwich, advertised with a vegan patty, kale, avocado, vegan egg, and bread. I requested a lettuce wrap instead of bread and added tomatoes. After an exceptionally long wait, while nearly everyone else at my table had received their meals, mine arrived missing the tomatoes, vegan egg, avocado, and lettuce wrap. It was essentially a vegan patty on arugula, despite costing approximately $20. Mistakes happen, especially when restaurants are busy or ingredients are unavailable. The problem was the lack of proactive communication. The restaurant apparently had no iceberg lettuce and could only offer arugula, which would have been fine if someone had told me beforehand. The same applies to the missing ingredients; instead, I had to discover each omission myself. The avocado was brought out only after I asked about it, by which point the delayed meal had become frustrating. I eventually requested complimentary fries--not because I wanted something free, but because a gesture of goodwill seemed appropriate. Good hospitality isn't about never making mistakes; it's about how a restaurant responds. Offering alternatives, communicating shortages, adjusting the bill, or providing a small complimentary item can show customers that their experience matters. The Attic has been a recognizable Long Beach establishment for years, making this decline especially disappointing. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect honesty, reasonable communication, and an effort to make things right. I didn't mind paying $20 for a thoughtfully prepared vegan meal; I minded paying $20 for a vegan patty and arugula while repeatedly advocating for the ingredients that were supposed to come with it. Sadly, after many years of remembering The Attic fondly, this experience may have cost them a loyal patron.
