Some prices of A-hyang food is slightly higher than some other Korean restaurants in the area but the portion and taste was definitely worth the price. I was genuinely surprised at how much food, especially kalbi we got for the combo because usually at other restaurants, the combo meat quantity is less and each pieces were smaller. I loved the taste of the seafood soondubu and they also filled the portion with so much seafood. The cheese tonkatsu was a huge portion, it's definitely enough for me to share it with someone and still be full. I did however, wished that the cheese would've melted a bit more. It's a casual Korean eatery with all the staples such as soft tofu stew, cold noodles, and dongkatsu. The Alfredo portion of the dongkatsu just tasted like cream and it didn't really have the garlic flavor or any other flavors that the sauce usually has. I preferred the spicy portion it had a good flavor and a nice kick. It wasn't very spicy but just enough to enhance the flavor. I like the crispiness of the breading and the portion size was good for the price. The fried bread on the side was a nice touch but I wished it had more flavor it was kind of plain. I like the corn slaw on the side it was slightly sweet and paired well with the meal, I just wished it came with the cabbage slaw that the other dongkatsu dishes had. I would like to say that for the most part the meal tasted great. We came here because I really wanted Korean food (I'm Korean and had a craving). We ordered the Kimchi Pajeon (Pancake), LA BBQ ribs, and cold noodles. I ordered in Korean and specifically said that one of the noodle dishes is vegetarian, no meat. Both noodle dishes come out with beef in them. I tell her that we ordered this with no meat and she says just take it off, just eat it, no big deal. I say no, it's a big deal. She takes it back and we watch her take the meat off and prepare to bring it back. She's sees us watching her, smiles and laughs, and puts it through the window to the back...where it comes back out almost immediately. If you have any allergies (they don't understand how to not cross-contaminate), if you are vegetarian or vegan, or don't eat beef or pork due to religious reasons...DO NOT COME HERE. They won't care. A family operated authentic restaurant with delicious food. Each time my family and friends come here, the food and service is outstanding. The menu has home style favorites as well as the snacking things you want when you have a craving for casual Korean. I have had issues in the past with some in the Korean community who tend to deliver poor service because I do not speak the language (Korean adoptee) or are very rude to my family (married to an African American with three biracial kids), but this is one place where I feel they are progressing to at least put service ahead of any historical baggage from old ways/biases. Suuuuuuper delicious Korean classics in a quaint lil place Our table of four ordered a budae jigae, cheese donkatsu, and seafood pancake. Budae jigae was filled mainly with sausage and spam but there was also tofu, sweet potato noodles, rice cake, and other yummy things. I do wish it were ramen and not sweet potato noodles but it was still good. The cheese donkatsu was extremely filling and the cheese pull on that pork was ridiculous. The side salads (cabbage, macaroni) were a good compliment to the heaviness of the pork although it was pretty creamy with thickkkkk thousand island dressing. It's a great value for 14$ and would probably provide me three meals if I were eating alone. Seafood pancake was big but unmemorable; don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. It just paled in comparison to the stellar jigae and donkatsu. Each table has a call button (or maybe our table did because we were in the side room..?? Love this place! Tucked on the first level of the shopping complex, the restaurant is very cozy and welcoming when you first enter. Almost everything on the menu is under $15 and delicious so you can't go wrong with whatever you get! I heard management had recently changed and I was not impressed with A Hyang at all. We visited on a Sunday evening, and the first thing I noticed was that the amount of banchan had significantly reduced. Wasn't a real biggie but we went ahead and ordered various things such as king don katsu and naengmyun. The naengmyun was beyond salty and it was really not that good at all. I was especially disappointed because I used to love A Hyang naengmyun but it was just so bad... The broth wasn't even that cold either. Secondly, the donkatsus were pretty okay, but the service that we recieved was outright horrible. This one lady wouldn't even put her mask up, and she kept telling us what to do as if we are doing HER a favor. I was honestly so angry at this point that I didn't even want to tip them (we did tip them btw). I'm always on the lookout for a good place to eat cold noodles and A-Hyang is definitely on the top of my list. Hubs and I stopped by for dinner and we were seated quickly. Seating in A-Hyang is very limited and the max number of people to bring is probably a group of 4 for comfortable seating. I came solely for the cold noodles so I ordered the cold noodle combo with dumplings and hubs ordered the spicy pork bibimbap. I enjoyed the variety of side dishes that were brought out to us and my cold noodles were on point! The broth was flavorful and the texture of the noodles were perfect. The waitress asked me if I wanted my noodles cut and I said yes but she only cut the noodles twice, which still left them long, so if you want your noodles cut a certain way or a certain length, you may want to ask if you can cut it yourself. I was given bottles of vinegar and spicy mustard and you definitely only need to add a little bit of each because the broth doesn't need much fixing. Hubs' bibimbap came out in a stone bowl and he was also given a bottle of spicy sauce. The flavor of the bibimbap was good and it's definitely something that I want to try the next time I come to A-Hyang. The pork was spicy, though, and I'm not sure if it was the pork or the spicy sauce from the bottle or a combination of both but if you're not a fan of spice, you may not want to get the spicy pork. Food - Overall good. I've had variety of menus from this place as I love their food. I've been here since they were called HamHeungNengMyun years ago and even after the ownership changed. I usually like their Donkatsu and GamJaTang. They do have new sauces available for you to try (i.e., spicy Donkatsu, Carbonara?/Cream sauce Donkatsu). Services - I visited past weekend and received probably one of the worst services that I probably haven't gotten in past 10 years of my time going to this restaurant. One of the waitresses looks just mad and she should not be serving food with that look and the way she talks. I recommend the food but please get it to go if you can. Dining in and getting the services they provide to you and leaving the tip ain't worth it. I will review again in near future to provide update on their services. read more

Nice and cozy korean restaurant! I like this place. I could tell it was authentic and favored by locals the second I stepped in the door and became the only one who needed to speak English in the place. However, foreigners do not despair! Servers are super friendly and helpful, as well as the menu has English translations. Banchan: not my favorite array, but definitely some good options and new ones I wasn't familiar with. I especially liked the spicy seaweed and the danmuji. Beef and dumpling stew: definitely recommend! The portion is HUGE. Probably twice the size of the sundubu. Most likely because it comes with humongous dumplings and generous pieces of beef, cellophane noodles, enoki mushrooms, onions, etc. Let me tell you, the dumplings make this dish. I used to really like this place but sadly the service and quality has been declining over the years. Ate here on Saturday with my wife and we had a horrible experience. First, the nengmyun noodles were way over cooked and close to mushy. Their nengmyun used to be good but the noodles are now always so overcooked and mushy. Second, either the A/C was broken or they just didn't turn it on, it was unbearably hot in the restaurant. And lastly, the servers were just straight up terrible. I spilled some soup (my fault) while trying to make room on the table for the server to put down our donkatsu. We started wiping the table down with our napkins and the server didn't even try to help or provide paper towels. She just glares and mutters something under her breath and leaves. And after we were done eating, we asked for a to-go box to a different server. She frowns at us and openly shows that our request annoys her. She did get us the to-go box but with plenty of attitude. A-Hyang is a Korean restaurant that opened early 2012 in Nukoa Plaza on Steve Reynolds Blvd. This is the same shopping center that has Dan Moo Ji and a White Windmill. I like this restaurant because unlike traditional Korean restaurants, this one feels new and fresh. Color scheme is white and light green and decor and furniture is more modern and hip, almost like an Asian cafe. Atmosphere is casual and the space is open and conducive for family and group dining. Very clean too. The menu offers typical Korean cuisine: Korean BBQ, bibimbap (mixed rice), noodles, soups/stews, some seafood entrees, and pancakes. Several of the menu items, such as the meats and stews, are meant for sharing. Thus, you'll find BBQ meats and various hot pots on the menu for $19.99+ each. There are a handful of single serving dishes under $10 each (such as the galbi tang -- beef rib soup -- and bibimbap), though some combos can go as high as $15-16. Lunch specials are available Monday-Friday, 11am to 2:30pm. Most lunch entrees are only $7.99 or less. I've tried the following items (spelled as they are on the menu): GamJa-Tang - pork rib soup with potatoes GalBi DolSot-BiBimBap - sauteed veggies, beef ribs, over rice in a stone bowl Mul-NaengMyeon - cold buckwheat noodles with mild seasonings I've also had the following banchan (side dishes): Seaweed Potato Acorn jelly Kimchi Spicy pickled cucumber Fish cake Egg Macaroni Generally, everything is pretty good here. I like all of the banchan, particularly the acorn jelly which comes soaked in sauce and topped with plenty of garnishes such as sliced red chili peppers. The banchan is pretty fresh and crisp, particularly the seaweed and kimchi. Most are strong and spicy and flavor. The egg is boiled and cut in half, marinated well. The macaroni is interesting because rarely do I see macaroni banchan. It's just like a simple pasta salad. The GamJa-Tang is one of A-Hyang's more "well-known" dishes. Along with pork and potatoes, this soup also includes soy bean paste, ginger, enoki mushrooms, sesame leaves, and chives. The veggies are fresh and come in long slices, placed neatly on top of the still-bubbling soup (served straight out of the kitchen). The portion size is huge so this soup can easily be split amongst 2-3 people. The pork is still on the bone and is super soft and tender, so it falls right off. The GalBi DolSot-BiBimBap is delicious and one of the better bibimbaps I've had in metro Atlanta. Ingredients include the galbi short ribs (topped with sesame seeds), carrots, bean sprouts, watercress, cucumbers, mushrooms, and radish over white rice. The rice is served still crackling and sizzling in an iron bowl. If you've never had bibimbap before, you're supposed to mix all of the ingredients in the bowl together. One of the good things about dolsot (stone bowl) bibimbap is that some of the rice gets hardened and crispy because it's cooking up against the side of the bowl. Therefore, you get tastier bits of rice. Spicy red paste is optional. I recommend it. The Mul-NaengMyeon is rather mild. Therefore, plenty of vinegar and mustard is recommended, but start small and add to taste. The NaengMyeon is cut tableside and the noodles are very chewy (this is how it's supposed to be). I found A-Hyang's NaengMyeon to be one of the milder versions I've tried. Still good, though. These are cold noodles and the broth has plenty of crushed ice. One other food note: they serve tonkatsu here -- Japanese fried pork cutlet. It's called "Wang-DonGgaSeu" on the menu. I think it translates into "king tonkatsu." This is definitely sized for a king because the plate is absolutely huge (and costs $16.99)! The restaurant gives out complimentary desserts here like fruit slushes, though I'm not sure if they give them out to everybody or if there are certain requirements to get them. Service is A-OK. You shouldn't have any problems finding this restaurant as it's clearly labeled in English. read more

The donkatsu was just average. Crust tasted overcooked and didn't hold together well at all with its cutlet (it will feel like you grabbed the crust and meat from separate dishes and put it inside your mouth at the same time). It was the typical spicy pork with kim chi as the addition. Too typical in the bf's opinion. The bf on the other hand had the tofu soup with beef and leeks. He liked his version better because of the leeks. His friends shared the hot pot, and it looked like a lot of food. After we were seated, and the side dishes and main meal was served. No one ever talked to us or interacted with us at all. But if just the food is your priority. It's pretty great. This places (budaejjigae- military stew) and (donkatsu- fried pork cutlet) are delicious and definitely amazing for the price. You get a good deal of value for what you're paying for here. Our server said this place is known for their Boodeh Jigae, Gam Ja Tang, Mul Naeng Myun, and Bibim Naeng Myun -- I've tried and/or sampled their four "favorites", and they are all good :) Service is good too -- when I came by myself, I got 7 banchan + salad. Prices are also very reasonable. FYI - this is the former location of Harm Heung Cold Noodle restaurant. "BUDAE JJI GE" - $8.99 (but $7.99 Mon-Fri lunch) While the menu described the dish as "potluck stew with sausages, ramen noodles, assorted hams, etc" -- mine had spam, hot dog, pulled chicken, ground beef, tofu, rice cakes, vegetables, and cellophane noodles ... and it's quite spicy. If you're not Korean you might not be familiar with the history behind this dish but after the Korean War, there wasn't much food -- the US Army helped donate some food, and that's how the Koreans learned to incorporate ingredients like spam and hot dogs into their jigae. It really is a true potluck stew. As far as portion goes, I'd definitely recommend sharing this dish -- I ordered it for myself and had enough leftovers for a 2nd meal. "GAM JA TANG" - $8.99 (but $7.99 Mon-Fri lunch) This is pork rib soup w/ potatoes, chives, sesame leaves, and enoki mushrooms. There is a lot of pork, and it is fall-off-the-bones pork :) Broth was good when it was hot but tasted a little bland when the soup cooled down -- keep in mind, I didn't add any of the hot chili paste offered w/ the dish. I still enjoyed the dish and trying something new. Again portion is huge so I'd recommend sharing this dish. "MUL-NAENGMYEON" - $7.99 (but $6.99 Mon-Fri lunch) Mom really enjoyed her cold noodle soup. I had a taste and thought it was very good, too. "BIBIM NAENGMYEON" - $7.99 (but $6.99 Mon-Fri lunch) Dad enjoyed his spicy cold noodle dish (and he's a picky eater) -- I had a few bites and agreed it was very good. FYI - lunch specials are available Mon-Fri 11-2:30pm for $6.99, $7.99, and $9.99. Along with Yet Tuh, I think this is one of my new favorite Korean restaurants and I look forward to trying their other dishes ... and wondering what flavor slushie I'll get next time :) read more
