This is probably my favorite spot for gopchang in Metro Atlanta! Their specialty is Goochang, so don't come here expecting AYCE brisket, pork belly, or the usual cuts of meat. If you're a fan of beef intestines this is definitely the place for you. Every time I visit, we order Combo B, which comes with gopchang (small intestine), daechang (large intestine), makchang (stomach), and teukyang (lower stomach). My favorite is definitely the daechang especially when it's cooked until it's nice and crispy. The gopchang is my second favorite, but only when it's thoroughly cleaned. I've been here several times, and while it's usually great, there have been a couple of visits where the small intestines weren't cleaned as well as they should have been. The menu is small, but everything I've tried has been delicious and tastes very authentic. One thing to keep in mind: you'll leave smelling like Korean BBQ from head to toe, so don't plan on going anywhere afterward unless you don't mind carrying that smoky aroma with you. read more

After hearing many good reviews and seeing long lines outside of this restaurant, I finally had the time to come here for dinner. I was worried that they might get busy fast, so I came a few minutes after they opened. As it was empty, I sat wherever and was immediately greeted. After much thought and consideration, my mom ordered for us (I'm the type to just not know what I'm eating in these cases). Unlike some Korean BBQ restaurants, the servers cook the meat for you. It did take longer than expected for it to be fully cooked, but it was definitely worth the wait. Rice was extra, so we split it. Main reason for our visit yesterday was due to it is one of the very few restaurants that open later than normal (most restaurants close at 9PM these days). We came around 9.15 and the place is full. It smelled so good! Be prepared for your clothes, skin and hair to carry the yummy smell even after you leave the restaurant. We ordered the packet A, pig intestine, kimchi fried rice and white grape soju. The amount of food is just enough for my teenage son, my husband and I. We enjoyed everything except perhaps the gopchang (small intestine) itself. We do not enjoy the sandy/gritty texture. We LOVE the pig heart! The prices have changed compared to the old menus that are on yelp so I was a bit surprised when we got there and saw the new menu. We ordered the Combo A which is normally for 3 people but I thought it was the perfect amount for my boyfriend and I. Along with our Combo, we ordered an extra 2 bowls of white rice and it also comes with a free soybean stew on the side. The side dishes included kimchi, green onion kimchi, and spicy beansprouts. Our server was super nice and attentive to our grill. He cooked it perfectly and placed it on the side for whenever it finished cooking. Highlight- brought a friend who's never tried korean bbq before, and it's not fair for me to write a full review, since this place is called "gopchang" on fire-- meaning intestines on fire (it doesnt make your intestines go on fire, don't worry), and I didn't order the gopchang, but the beef rib instead since my friend and I weren't game enough to eat intestines. I give this place a 3.5 for its beef- I will write a review update when I have tried their intestines some time. We ordered the beef rib- 17.99$ a person. You had to cook it yourself here and the beef quality definitely isn't the same quality as 9292, Breakers, 678, or even Iron Age. I am guessing this is not what they are famous for- things that are NOT Gop Chang. So if you come here, I recommend NOT ordering the meats and save that order for a place that primarily does meats like the other korean barbecues I mentioned. The meat as tougher quality and one of those where you had to watch carefully b/c it can be super tender one second and then tough as leather the next second. so that part, I don't quite like. The ban chan was a lot of scallions and chives in spicy sauce, radish to cleanse your palate, a spicy tofu soup which wasn't that spicy. The Original Gopchang On Fire. Which means, nothing really changes between this place and the Gopchang on Fire 2, it's both the same restaurant. GoF2 is just a cleaner looking place and it's a bit larger. The OG Gopchang on Fire is more tapas style and no private rooms for parties. You're in an open sprawl with all your dining neighbors. The food is the same as location 2, the prices are equally pricey as location 2, and the rules are the same, which means, if you go it alone, you need to order two entrees and that's $30+ right there. And that to me is just way too pricey for a single person to enjoy tasty organ meat and it is tasty!!!!! So much fatty goodness from the stomach and intestines as well as the amazing savory flavors of the side dishes that all compliments and cleanses your pallet. But again, the 3 stars is due to their rule of "must order 2 entrees" and each thing is $15 a pop. Gopchang on Fire is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in metro Atlanta. Gopchang refers to intestines and, in this case, cow intestines which are cooked pretty much Korean BBQ style on grills at every table. I'm generally not a fan of intestines. The kinds I've had often had an unpleasant smell or taste, but not here. The intestines here are actually quite delicious, among the best I've ever had. So, I'd set aside any preconceived notions about intestines and give this place a try. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is located in the Assi shopping plaza on Old Peachtree Rd in Suwanee. If facing Assi, Gopchang will be to the left. This is a small, casual place, almost a hole in the wall, with seating for I guesstimate roughly 40-50 customers tops. There was about a 10-15 minute wait when we arrived for our 7pm Saturday night dinner. The food menu is simple (first four items are beef): Gop chang - small intestine - $12.99 Dae chang - large intestine - $12.99 Mak chang - upper lining of last stomach - $12.99 Tuek yang - upper lining of first stomach - $15.99 Beef rib meat - $19.99 Pig intestine - $12.99 Small intestine stir-fry - $12.99 Spicy small intestine soup - $29.99 (for 2 people) There are two combos. Both combos come with gop chang, dae chang, mak chang, and tuek yang. The difference between the two combos is one combo, Combo A, is designed for 3 people ($34.99) and the other, Combo B, is designed for 4 people ($44.99). They also have ramen and kimchi fried rice on the menu. Beverage-wise, they have beer, wine, and soju. Alcohol commonly accompanies gopchang meals. Two of us visited for dinner and ordered the gop chang, dae chang, and mak chang, all a la carte. We could've ordered Combo A, but were unsure of portion sizing (and probably should've asked). I still could've eaten after we finished our food, so I'm thinking Combo A probably would've worked for us even though there were just two of us. It was pretty obvious which organ was which. The gop chang was placed in the center of the grill. It was coiled up. The dae chang looked like kielbasa sausages, bigger than the gop chang of course. The mak chang looked like a flat, spongy blob. Also served was what I think were small slices of liver, but I could be wrong. On the edges of grill were slices of daikon radish, white onion, and sliced mushrooms. Banchan consisted of kimchi, spicy bean sprouts, two types of spicy scallions/green onions, and a spicy tofu soup with enoki mushrooms and chopped scallions. The intestines and stomach tasted great. I wasn't expecting everything to be so savory and flavorful. It didn't really taste too much different than various thin cuts of steak. The flavors were beefy and smoky. Expectedly, the textures were different than steak. My favorite was the dae chang. It seemed to be the fattiest as well as the tastiest. In general, the gop chang, dae chang, and mak chang all had soft and somewhat chewy consistencies. The dipping sauces (soy sauce, sesame oil with salt & pepper) are almost essential, so be sure to use them. Service was terrific. Servers cook and cut (with scissors) all of the intestines and stomach at your table. This place is a hike for intown folks like me, but I would definitely be up for a return visit. read more

So yea gave this place a try. Came here Thursday night and finally was able to get a table. Side note: came here twice and the wait is ridiculously long. Come week days before 7pm or you will have to wait a long time. So if you didn't know this is a Korean restaurant that servers cow intestines. My first time having intestines cooked like this so I have nothing to compare it to. I really liked it. It didn't have any smell or taste that you would think it would have but they cleaned it well enough that it just tastes good. We ordered a gopchang combo set so we got a variety of parts cooked at our table. In the end, they made fried rice for us as well. From what I remember, I do not remember having to pay extra for the fried rice but my friend, who went recently, said that she had to pay extra if she wanted fried rice. Our waiter was friendly as well. Very attentive and made sure that our intestines were cooking correctly. Overall, I would love to go again if I were in Georgia. TL;DR - Fantastic Korean BBQ and great service, in a casual setting. Don't be scared by the intestines. They're delicious (this is coming from someone who had never eaten beef intestines before). My wife and I are both fairly new to Korean cuisine. We've maybe had 6 Korean meals over the past few years, and stuck to mainly the same dishes (bibimbap, bulgogi). While we have really enjoyed all of the meals we had previously, we really wanted to try something a little different. We figured, why not go out of our comfort zone and try beef intestines? Who knows? Maybe it will be insanely delicious. Fortunately, we figured right! We ordered both the dae chang (large intestine) and rib meat, and to say that it was tasty would be an understatement. The best way I can describe the dae chang is like an amazing piece of fatty beef. The flavor was off the charts fantastic. After letting it sit on the grill until the edges are all nice and brown, it gets crunchy on the outside, but stays nice and chewy on the inside. It's really amazing. The rib meat was also fantastic, but the dae chang really blew me away. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sauces they bring you (soy sauce and sesame oil) compliment the meat extremely well. In addition to the meat, we also ordered a side of kimchi fried rice, which was fantastic as well. The complimentary banchan (side dishes) were good, but definitely took a back seat to the meat. They also brought us a complimentary bowl of tofu soup, which was spicy and delicious. The service was outstanding. The restaurant was super busy (every table was full the entire 90+ minutes we were there), but the servers were always extremely prompt, and they were a huge help with preparing the intestines. For those that might not consider intestines, because it's not something most Americans would typically think about eating, I would strongly urge you to forget that and give Gopchang On Fire a try. It really is a fantastic place, and I definitely think the food would appeal to anyone that enjoys really delicious grilled meat. Food is good. First time I tried it I was hesitant but turned out to be a good alternative for Korean BBQ. For the people who won't dare to touch the intestines the restaurant offers other foods like spicy chicken w/ vegetables and regular beef slices. My family is large (6 ppl) so whenever we go we get crammed into one table. I wouldn't recommend the suwanee location to big groups. Also wait times on busy nights are usually 30-45 mins on weekends between 7-9pm and on holidays. The service is pretty good!! Away ask for the kimchi fried rice at the end!!! My family and I have dined here 3-4 times within the last month or so (don't judge, we like gopchang ok??). The restaurant is rather small and the wait, especially on the weekends, can be 45mins+, so your best bet is to come on a weekday. I usually come with a total of 4 people and we order the set menu for 4 with kimchi fried rice. I've never had the intestines come out funky or had any foul taste to them, but my husband has. Make sure you let the innards cook thoroughly (your server should let you know when it's safe to eat, so be patient). The meal was rather inexpensive compared to 9292 gopchang.
