A good Korean restaurant that serves quality Bossam - boiled pork wraps in the Suwanee area of Georgia. The side dishes were pretty good and fresh especially the kimchi. Fast service, nice Korean ambiance, and plenty of refills to fill you up. read more

The food and service was amazing. The Bibimbap was fresh and delicious. I loved all the sides and I got a kick out of the macaroni salad one. The mackerel seemed deep fried so I won't be ordering it again here unless they can prepare it a different way so it's less oily. I like it better at the restaurant down the street on the other side of 85. Also their barley tea was good. We got dessert at Mozart next door. read more

Kang Seo is located in a big strip mall full of Korean shops in Lawrenceville / Suwanee border. This review is based on my late afternoon weekday seollngtang lunch. +. Ambiance is a small comfy diner vibe. +. Food is traditional Korean and I came here for their seollngtang as my favorite place on BuHi closed during Covid. My soup came out after about 10-15 minutes with several side dishes and rice. They keep sea-salt and pepper on the table, so they don't bring them out with the soup. Protein wise, the bowl had a reasonable amount. It wasn't the richest broth but I seasoned seollngtang to my liking and enjoyed the meal. + Price is average. + Service was prompt and friendly. Typical ajumeonis who mostly speak Korean. + Parking is shared lots, ample and free. Over all, Kang Seo is a nice Korean traditional with a decent bowl of sellongtang. But with KS being 1+ hour away, I'm still in search of a go-to sellongtang resto closer to me. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe! read more

Every dish I've had was great! A lot of sides which is my favorite part of the meal. Service was always good for us, always refilling our sides and asked if everything is ok. The restaurant has always been low-key quiet and friendly. This is my go to spot once a week when I'm craving for some good sides and kimchi stew. read more

We LOVE this place! It's one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. The restaurant itself is a small, local place with amazing service. Everyone is so friendly, they answered any questions that we had and helped us pick up what we wanted. The flavors were bold, which is exactly what you'd want for this type of cuisine. Everyone's food was just beyond good and even our friends who were with us (who are on the pickier side) loved it and wanted to come back again! read more

Great food and great service. Came in on a Friday around 7pm, seated right away and it was busy! Food came out with in 15 minutes of ordering and the Kimchi soup was the best Kimchi soup I have ever had. My friend did order another soup, but it was more bland Portions are just a little but smaller for us. I ordered the kimchi jjigae + seodae gui and that was a steal! Fish and soup for a great price compared to other places I was looking it We did order 2 extra rice to share with 3 of us I would come back!! read more

The food was good :) we got seolleongtang and dwaji bulgogi. The Banchan was very good as well. Servers were very nice; even though they don't speak much English, we were still able to communicate just fine. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were not a lot of people inside. The food came out very quickly. All around good and filling. read more

Good: 9/10 Service: 9.5/10 Food 10/10 My family comes here for comfort and love. When sick ; the bone broth soup helps us heal with their service and care. They teach us to eat side dishes and enjoy it. Been here over 10 years and never change. Always recommend it to my friends for comfort read more

I love their jeongols. The soup is packed with flavor and the spicy level is perfect. Only reason for 4 stars is because the servers are not as nice sometimes and not as attentative. read more

They serve very authentic Korean food. Portion is generous. Servers are very attentive and friendly. Good vibe.

The waitresses were very sweet and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and the dividers in the booths offer a slightly more private experience. I loved the stews with my favorite being the soy bean paste. I asked for spicy and it was the perfect level of spice. The pork was a little oily at the bottom and there were really charred almost black pieces under it all. As for taste it paired well with the pickled side dishes. The stone pot bibimbap was good especially with the crisp rice at the bottom. I was also disappointed to see that they didn't offer soft tofu soup (soondubu jigae). All the food was great just a little more on the pricey side for what you get. Overall I would definitely come back for a stew craving! read more

We were craving for some good Korean soup so we yelped and found this place in Suwannee. The mackerel was small in portion compared with SGD (tofu soup), but the taste was still good. Kimchi jjigae was very good and i could really taste the added garlic and black peppers. My husband kept stealing some. Husband got the soy paste based rib meat soup and he devoured it before i had a chance to take a pic of it. He said it was good. My kids didn't dig the sullung tang and took most of it home. The reason for the 4 star is because its a lil pricey compared with other near by places(by maybe $1-2). Also the soups were not piping hot like other Korean soup places. My kid has nut allergies and nothing in the soups and the banchan had nuts. He was fine after eating here. read more

Got the Yukkaejang (spicy beef and leek soup). The soup was savory and spicy, with egg, tender beef, leek, glass noodles, and other vegetables. It also came with a side of rice. Portions were average, but also pricy ($17). I loved the banchans- the bean sprouts, acorn jelly, and japchae were all yummy. A very simple, no frills kind of place. Service can be a little slow. From time of order to food was close to 25 minutes. The banchan also came at the same time as the food, which was not what I was used to. Make sure you leave ample time to come eat~ read more

There is some parking right by the restaurant, however, it is connected to the hmart plaza, so you can always park there! Staff wore masks and seats are kind of social distanced. They have a mix of stews, soups, and stir fry dishes. You can ask for hot barley tea instead of water. Pork and potato soup: nice and seasoned. Not spicy. You get 3 big pork bones and plenty of meat. Plus 2 giant potato chunks. Perfect for the cold weather. Spicy pork: a nice amount of kick to it, meat is very tender. Ox meat soup (not pictured): light broth that is perfect for kids to eat. Thin slices of meat (but kind of chewy) as well as thin noodles inside the soup. Side dishes: a good variety and they give you a good amount do you aren't asking for more after just 2 bites. But you are of course welcomed to ask for refills of side dishes. The default is white rice, if you want the healthier purple rice be sure to request it. Good spot to go to when you are craving Korean food. Especially because the hmart food court closes pretty early (I think at 7pm). read more

Wr happened upon this place by accident. It was reviewed as a very authentic Korean restaurant. That it was! We all went in not having a clue what to eat as we are not familiar with Korean food. For something different we tried it. We had the chicken bulgolgi, spicy beef stew, and stir fried sausage. It all came with sides of different cold vegetables to share. They were all very good. The service was slow and a little stand off. I think language was an issue or maybe because we were the only non Asian individuals in the restaurant. Whatever the case the food was good and I recommend using the call button at your table to gain your servers attention. read more

Our little family was hungry and ordered haemul pahjun, had mul kimchee dol sot, suellungtang, boyungtang, and kalbi. Kang Seo is one of my favorite little traditional Korean restaurants I frequent. They have a variety of Korean stews and soups as well as one of my fav spots for bossam (Korean pork belly dish). You can also order fried fish, kalbi (not ones you can grill at the table), and bibimbop as well. Pre-Covid the place would generally be packed during most of our frequent visits. During Covid pandemic times we've orders takeout and they follow good safety measures to help you feel safe when picking up your food. Kang Seo is located in the same plaza as Umaido (ramen restaurant) and next to the H-Mart plaza in Suwanee. Another plus about Kang Seo is that their soups and stews are reasonably priced and on occasion they will have some sales on selected soups/stews. read more

Very authentic Korean food! The staff are very sweet and quick. The vibes were so relaxed and comfortable.

The food here has been tasking very bland lately. My parents and I had Yukgaejang to go last week but all tasted like water as if they add a whole jug of water to make 3 servings of soup out of 1. I hate to waste food but I threw mine away. I knew I wasn't going to cook and wanted to give it another try and we ordered Nakgop Jeongol couple of nights ago and again it was just a big pot of water without any taste. My parents brought me here often for Soondae gook and just quick meals for as long as I remember. Man, I don't know anymore, I am sad. read more

Not only they just there and doing nothing. Overall there wasn't even service to begin with but still gave her the tip. If you want a place that doesn't welcome people other than Koreans then this is the place. read more

If you don't look asian, I have a feeling you won't be treated properly. Even if you are, this is one of those places where the severs will have a hard time communicating with you. I am not Korean but I'm fluent and can pass as one. service was extremely slow. Most traditional restaurant offers free banchan refills. This places didn't at least for me. You press a button near the table to summon the waitress, which is critical for restaurant like this and customers who don't know how to summon them. I would come back because the food was decent. Popular Korean restaurant in Suwanee mostly know for their Korean stews. You get a warm Korean "hello" as you enter the restaurant. Décor wise, it's very authentic and true to it's country of origin. Seating is setup in booths lined up throughout the restaurant. Families seem to frequent this place often, a good place to eat with a party. Each dish comes with complimentary cold kimchi dishes and veggies similar to other Korean restaurants. The stews come in piping hot. Great for a cold winter day or if you're feeling a bit under the weather. Most of dishes I have tried have a good taste to it. The meat in the broth is very tender. Overall, with the price and amount you get. Not a bad place to try out. Worth the trip for sure. If you want some traditional Krean food. This is where you want to go. The atmosphere and workers are great. The food here is great and I like how their food is not too salty. If I do wish to make it salty, I have the option to pour in some salt that's on the table (provide salt and black pepper bottles on the table). The reason for the -1 star is due to 'refilling' water and side dishes. I'm not too sure if it's a cultural thing; however, stuff like water refills and side dish refills will only happen if you ask the workers. Otherwise, they will not take notice and refill- even if your water cup is empty. Overall experience is great! read more

Very good Kalbi Tang and Sul Lang Tang, and good banchan (7). Parents enjoyed it. Good place for Korean stews and soups. Great prices too - everything we ordered was $8.99. Pretty long trek from my house but we had just seen a Korean movie at Sugarloaf Mills and seemed like the perfect opportunity to check out some Korean food along the Lawrenceville-Suwanee corridor. Kang Seo had the best reviews in the area. Note: This review is for a visit few months back. OX BONE & STEW MEAT STOCK SOUP - $8.99 (aka Sul Lang Tang) Very good, per Mom :) BEEF RIB & CABBAGE SOUP - $8.99 (aka Kalbi Tang) Very good, per Dad -- and he's a picky eater. PORK RIB SOUP W/ POTATOES - $8.99 Soup also had sesame leaves and onions. 3-4 big pork bones. Very good. Slightly spicy. Enough for 2 meals. FYI located next to Cafe Mozart. read more

Kang Seo is a Korean restaurant that specializes in hot pots, soups, and stews (guk or tang). They also have a limited selection of BBQ, such as galbi (beef short ribs) and spicy pork bulgogi (spicy marinated pork), and bibimbap mixed rice bowls. The restaurant is located in the Korean shopping center next to the Suwanee H Mart, not far from I-85 exit 111 (SR 317, Lawrenceville Suwanee Road). This is the same shopping center as Umaido (ramen), Mozart Bakery, Sodeulnyuk (Korean food), and Kang Buk (Japanese/Korean sushi). Kang Seo mainly caters to metro Atlanta's Korean community, though in recent years, they've made small changes to accommodate more of the non-Korean crowd. Previously, their storefront sign was printed only in Korean. Today, the words "Korean Cuisine" and "Kang Seo" now flank either side of the sign's Korean text. The interior resembles a traditional Korean restaurant with wooden furniture and decor, semi-private booths (each containing tables for four), wood-and-paper lanterns hanging from above, and wallpaper adorned with Korean calligraphy. A taller wall/partition separates the larger, private group dining area. It's a casual atmosphere. There's a TV at one end of the restaurant. The menu isn't very big. There are English descriptions for every dish, but they aren't well translated nor very descriptive. It would be nice if they provided the romanized name for each menu item. Appetizers (e.g. Korean blood sausage, stir-fried squid, octopus) and hot pots are roughly $20-30 each. These are best shared in small groups of about four people. The soups, stews, and rice bowls (bibimbap), individually portioned, are about $10-15 each. Korean BBQ is about $14-18 per plate. Two of the restaurants most popular items include the sul lung tang (also spelled "seolleongtang") and the galbi tang. The sul lung tang is ox bone soup. The galbi tang is beef short rib soup. Kang Seo serves sul lung tang in four different varieties. I like what's listed on the menu as "combination meat stock soup" because it comes with a variety of ingredients such as brisket and tendon (kind of like pho dac biet). Also included is a piece of ox tail with the bone. The broth of sul lung tang is milky white and bland. This is by design because it's customary for the seasoning to be done at the table. Side dishes of chopped scallion and soy sauce are provided. You can add these, along with pepper (black or red), to flavor the broth to personal taste. Sul lung tang is an acquired taste for some. I find it to be hearty and comforting. The cuts of ox meat are relatively fresh and delicious. It can be cumbersome, and sometimes messy, to eat around the ox tail bone. In general, Kang Seo makes arguably the best sul lung tang in the Atlanta area. The galbi tang is a good soup too. Just because it has galbi (beef short ribs), don't expect the flavor to be the same as galbi BBQ. The bite-sized chunks of short rib are nice and tender. The broth is tasty and includes a few vegetables, the main one being cabbage, along with spring onion, regular onion, and daikon. This is a comforting soup that hits the spot, particularly on cold days, but eating it in the summertime is perfectly fine too. The banchan spread at Kang Seo is adequate. Banchan are complementary Korean side dishes included with your meal. The kimchi here is great. Other banchan I've encountered include potato salad, spicy and pickled daikon, spicy greens, eggplant, carrots, and scallion, pickled bean sprouts, and odeng bokkeum (slices of spicy fish cake). Banchan selection can vary. Aside from the kimchi, my favorite is easily the odeng. Consider it a treat if it's available on your visit. You may be given complimentary cups of sikhye at the end of your meal. This is a traditional Korean rice punch. It has sugar so it's sweet and it also contains pine nuts. I love the stuff. Service is good. The servers are older Korean ladies who don't speak English very well. If you don't speak Korean, there may be a language barrier. They know enough to get by. At least they make a genuine effort and are friendly and attentive. A call button is located at every table so a server can be called for immediate assistance. I support this Korean restaurant custom. Kang Seo is open seven days a week from 10:30am to 10:30pm, except for Sundays when they close at 10:00pm. read more

There were not very many options OB the menu. Had the spicy seafood rice bowl. It was quite a large portion. Calamari pieces seemed fresh. Lots of green onion garnish! It was really spicy! I was driving from Asheville to Atlanta and because of traffic, I was starving and couldn't wait an extra 30 minutes to get into Atlanta so I pulled up Yelp and spotted this little gem. So, uh, thanks traffic! The first item on their menu is blood sausage. Not gonna lie, I contemplated my sanity briefly before deciding to get it. It comes with a spicy dipping sauce and salt blend. I loved it. It tastes nothing like blood and the glass noodles gave the sausage a very melt-in-your-mouth texture. For anyone apprehensive about getting this, don't (Yeah, trust a random internet stranger :P). I also ordered the infamous oxtail soup. The broth was very savory and perfect for an empty stomach. It came with three pieces of meat and each piece had the bones attached, which makes it a slight challenge to eat but meat that's cooked with the bone always tastes better in my opinion. The service was also really good. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

God tier and authentic Korean restautant that specializes in savory soups, stews, and blood sausage! This place is perfect for a date or just eating out with friends or family; very fair prices! The customer service here is the best I've ever seen in years. Even without asking, she brought extra dipping sauces for our leftovers to take home! My family really liked the rice, seafood scallion pancake, and spicy beef and leek soup. They gave a 4 of 5 stars for their respective dishes. We will return. The portions are generous like most Korean soup places. Prices are reasonable. The cold bibimbap (D1) was fresh. I specified no beef and they accidentally put (ground) beef in. I returned it and they returned to me the same plate with beef remnants left. I returned it again and specified that I wanted a completely new dish, remade. That situation was a bit of a flop but I think it's no big deal. Would def recommend this place to meat eaters! (They don't have tofu soup and I didn't see any vegetarian specific dishes.) read more

Kang Seo is located in the same plaza as a small H mart in between Umaido and White Windmill. They specialize in stews and I must say that I fell immediately in love when I tried them. it was a wonderful end to a tiring day of hiking. Service****4 Stars The service seemed decent at first. nothing out of the ordinary, but the lady seemed really nice and even went to ask about a special sauce I asked about and came to tell me about it later after checking out. They were a bit slow, but I get that it gets busy sometimes, especially with all the stuff they have to bring to each table. Food *****5 STARS My griflriend and I got the Beef Gabi and oxtail soup. The Galbi is done a little different that how I normally have it. the soup is a little more rich and they also added cabbage in it. It was wonderful and I could definitely tell that they had their own style in this soup because it tasted a bit different than the norm. The oxtail soup was actually intended to be kind of bland because they let you season it yourself with salt, pepper, scallions, and a special soy type sauce that is amazing when the beef is dipped inside. ALSO, their selection of sides is awesome. you've got the marinated black beans, kimchii, pickled daikon, fish cakes, pickled cucumbers, and bean sprouts. Atmosphere/Decor ***** 5 Stars The decor seemed so cozy and cute. I really loved the design of the place and it made me excited for the meal even more. they have dividers between each booth and table for some added privacy. Overall I enjoyed this place tremendously and they will most definitely see me more often. read more

We got Seolung Tang which is meant to be their signature menu along with spicy pork and grilled mackerel. The food was okay but we were not impressed. Our server was not too nice but she did what she was supposed to do so I guess it's okay. The biggest issue I had was an unpleasant smell I could smell while I was staying there. I think the smell was from their cleaning solution but it didn't smell clean. It bothered me while I was eating my food and maybe that's why it didn't taste too good. There comes a point in time where you had a restaurant that you enjoyed food back home in Michigan. Then for whatever reason, time slips away and you really have no ability to back to said restaurant. Time slips even more and said restaurant closes down due to lack of business. Call it missing a fundamental element to running a good business which is location and this place of remembrance was in a plaza tucked away from any main thoroughfares or any traffic. Then you move and come to realize you'll probably never eat that kind of traditional food again. Unless where you move to is also 3 miles away from Atlanta's Korea Town and you really come to remember those traditional flavors once again. Kang Seo is that place!!! The meal? Spicy Goat meat hotpot. Don't knock it till you try it albeit it's an acquired taste for sure but still, the flavors! Oh the flavors! The spicy savory umami of the broth with the meat was just something I remember from my childhood! It was every bit as good as I recall it to be when I had it back home in Michigan, but here in Atlanta, living 3 miles away, you can bet I'll be making trips here just to satiate some of those traditional Korean foods I've long missed. There was also seafood pancakes as well which is about as Korean as you can get and every bit was amazing! If you can imagine the spread of Korean side dishes of kimchee, sprouts, fishcake, and radish salads with rice and the hotpot, it was just amazing to see and I for one will definitely be going back!!! read more
