Complimentary Salad, and Kimchi (2 versions)

I've had Bulgogi Bibimbap many times in my past, but never a Galbi Bibimbap, so decided to try it here... This was a very casual joint in Suwanee...but quite spacious. There was only 1 Korean-fluent waitress, and she was very friendly. I tried my best to speak in my native tongue, though I'm sure I sounded off. She was quickly on to me, and actually asked me if I needed a fork lol! *SIGH* As planned, I ordered their Dolsot Bibimbap w/ Galbi...which came in a huge skillet with a ton of veggies (pre-mixed). I also added this Sweet Corn appetizer, so that I can throw it into the mix. As expected, the dish was quickly delivered...all piping hot! Also as expected, it looked and tasted quite delish (pre and after mixing!)...and fully authentic! They loaded you up with sauces so that you can make the dish as spicy as you want it to be. Well, all the veggies were fresh and the Galbi was good (though not as fully marinated as I like it). Although I thoroughly enjoyed the dish, I felt that the portion of Galbi was just too skimpy. This was a HUGE skillet, but mostly loaded with veggies...and way too light on the meat. I thought that was a shame...'cuz if they dropped just a few more Galbi meats in the mix, I would have gladly rated this 5 stars. However, I felt a bit ripped. Though a huge platter/skillet costing about 20 bucks, it was mostly veggies...and if I knew the meat portion was that small, I would have just ordered a Galbi dish on its own...as it would have costed about the same, I think? BTW, I enjoyed their complimentary soup, as well as their super-savory house salad, and Kimchi...in both regular and squared version. Overall, the foods were great...and the service was even greater? I would have easily given this place 5 stars, but there just wasn't enough Galbi meat in my dish! Sorry...but I have to dock a star.

Pleasantly surprised! It was late and my husband obviously didn't plan ahead so I was trying to find something I wanted to eat rather than CFA. I found Choi's Grill and it's sooo close by. We got the bulgogi soup and kimchi jjigae. Came with basic sides: salad, onions, and kimchi. The bulgogi soup was really good, came with some glass noodles and a side of rice. Husband really liked the salad and his soup was flavorful. Only downside was that meat was a bit tough. We had DoorDash credit so used DoorDash app but the guy working was helpful and told us it's cheaper to just call directly. We appreciate that! Will definitely be returning and plan to try their lunch time combos.

Not your typical kbbq joint. By that I mean they don't cook the meat in front of you, but they cook it in the kitchen and bring it out. Still though the meat is flavorful and has variety. The rest of the menu is some typical Korean dishes like tofu soup, bibimbap, seafood pancakes, to name a few. All dishes I've had there have been good and had plenty of flavor to it. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Food was great!! One of the best Kbbq places I've eaten at! Service was great as well! The food was fresh and delicious!

Doesn't seem like much when you walk in, just a standard korean restaurant. I usually love the part of cooking your own meats when I think of kbbq but these meats are precooked for you and brought out from the kitchen. I didn't mind at all since they were all well cooked and you get to eat a lot quicker that way. Meat quality and selection is above average, very good. Everything we had was tasty and enjoyable including the banchan, soup and sauces brought out as part of the set. There was only one lady serving when we went so service was a little slow but we were in no rush. Would definitely come back again, a nice place to grab a quick meal and drink.

Looking for a good Korean BBQ place that won't be ridiculously packed but still top notch quality?? Choi's Grill by Chef JK in Suwannee has better quality meat than other spots I've visited that are more popular and you won't have to "people" nearly as much! I think they aren't as busy because they are kind of hidden behind some restaurants in the Suwanee area but don't let that fool you, the service and food quality here are excellent!! You basically have two options here, you can either select an all you can eat option OR you can select a combo option. The ALL YOU CAN EAT options go from plan A which is $32 or plan B which is $54. The difference of course is the cut of meats you get to choose from (like filet mignon or premium short ribs and ribeeye steak). The COMBO options go from plan A which is $65, plan B which is $90 and plan C which is $120. The difference obviously being the quantity and types of meats they'll bring out all at once. What you see here is the plan A since I knew I would not be able to finish a plan B. The cuts of meat were excellent and very tasty. The plan included a very delicious and HOT cheesy corn plate, a bowl of soup (I believe it was kimchi) which was very delicious and very spicy. You of course get your rice alongside some other veggies to eat with the meat plate. My meat platter had pork shoulder, thinly sliced marinated pork, short ribs, pork belly, thinly sliced chuck rolls and premium beef brisket. I want to go back and try the all you can eat plan B so I can get some of their filet mignon and ribeye Fun place to visit with a group and have a good food feast. Check them out if you're in the area and want to try out some good Korean BBQ!! #rolieats #goodeats #goodfood #rolireview #suwannee #koreanbbq #choisgrillbychefjk #allthemeats #bigplates #allyoucaneat #fullbelly #happybelly #noregrets

I was excited to try this new local place, but it was disappointing. Although the menu items were authentic korean food, everything ended up being very sweet. I guess Chef JK has a sweet tooth. Usually kbbq places have a grill on every table. But this place, they cook and bring the meat to you. So I'm not sure how unlimited bbq would work. Lunch menu is $13.99 now. Side dishes were average, the green onion salad was the best side dish. Ramen - it was spicy in a good way, broth was good but the noodles were very thin, not your average ramen noodles. Marinated galbi - too sweet, but well cooked. I really liked how they put cuts in the meat, making it soft and chewy. Seok soe bulgogi was the best thing. It was sweet but not too sweet. Smelled delicious. Bibimmyun - again with the very thin noodles. I can not believe how sweet it was. I would not get this again nor would I recommend it to anyone. It also had mushrooms that did not go along with the bibimmyun. Mushrooms can be found in every meat dish, and every noodle dish I guess. It's good with meat, but not so much with noodles. I arrived hungry and excited, yet left disappointed.. I really wanted to like this place, but I won't be returning..

    Bulgogi Bibimbap was perfect!!
    Ken M.

I'll add my name to the list of great reviews and thank those who led me here. I have never had a better bibimbap and feel no need to keep looking. The egg was cooked perfectly and not overdone like many I've had. And I really liked the shallow pan it was served in that allowed for a higher % of crispy rice. Will be back to try the lunch Plan A or Plan B.

You are greeted with a nice warm basket of muffins. They are a little cheesy and remind me of a mix of corn bread and regular muffins. We ordered the brisket and spare ribs. Brisket has an option of fatty marbled or lean - we got fatty but it was more a layer of fat than a nice marbling. The meat was a bit tough but not inedible. I do wish it was more marbled and flavorful. It definitely needed the bbq sauce. The spare ribs were quite good. They were big and meaty with different sections of fatty and chewier lean on each rib. The marinade they use for cooking is notably on the sweeter side. The ribs did not need extra bbq sauce in my opinion. The sides were just okay to me: Mac n cheese - nice and creamy but the real tasty cheese flavor was only in the melty cheese globs. Collard greens - good flavor but definitely on the salty side. Lots of meat in this side. Baked beans - your average sweet baked beans, tasty! Side salad - upgrade for $2 - portion was reasonable for price. I was disappointed by the dressing i selected, the vinaigrette. It was mostly oil and little vinegar leading to a very light and unnoticeable flavor. I added more to get more flavor and ultimately ended up with oily leaves... Bonus points for the nugget ice! My favorite :)

Ordered curbside pickup online just to see if they really would honor it, fully expecting to go in, since so much of that has stopped since the height of COVID. When we got there and checked in via text, we were surprised that they actually were going to come outside to deliver it (but we met them at the door in any case). Good to know for next time. Overall, it was a pretty satisfying meal. We tried as many sides as we could get with our meal. All of them were pretty great. I'm partial to my own homemade mac and cheese and greens, but they weren't bad. As far as the meats go, I think I liked the brisket, turkey breast, and sausage best. The ribs could have been more tender but were slightly better than the ones I got from Cozy Coop this year. I still haven't found a rib place that really sticks with me in my immediate area, but there are many more to try of course! I just like that turkey breast was even an option for the sampler. It was seasoned well and not dry also. I joined the rewards program, so I received a discount that I used up front. I would definitely like to try some of their sandwiches with housemade pastrami, nachos, and some more of the meats and sides. The dining area looked clean and well-kept, and the hostess/cashier was genuinely friendly--she took the time to walk us through the menu, drinks, sauces, and even the different pickles, which I appreciated. We ordered the brisket, ribs, mac & cheese, green beans, two sauces (both free), house and spicy pickles (also free), and a Banana Cream Soda. 2 Slices of Brisket - $9 (3.5/5): The brisket was solid overall--tender with a nice, juicy interior and a lightly smoky aroma that came through in each bite. It wasn't dry at all, which is always a win, though it could've had a bit more depth in flavor on its own. That said, it really came alive when paired with the spicy sauce, which added a bold, tangy kick that elevated the meat nicely. 2 Pork Spare Ribs - $7 (4/5): These were definitely a highlight. The ribs were beautifully seasoned with a savory, slightly sweet rub that formed a flavorful crust on the outside. The meat was incredibly tender--so much so that it fell clean off the bone with just a fork, no effort needed. Juicy, rich, and super satisfying, especially with the spicy sauce adding an extra layer of heat and tang. Mac & Cheese - $4.50 (4/5): Very impressive side. The spiral noodles were cooked perfectly--tender but still holding their shape, not mushy at all. What stood out most was the texture: there was a subtle crunch on top, possibly from a light breadcrumb or rice-based topping, which added a nice contrast. The cheese sauce was creamy, rich, and coated every curve of the spirals, so each bite had these little pockets of cheesy goodness that almost "popped" with flavor. The sprinkle of green onions on top added a fresh, slightly sharp brightness that cut through the richness and made the dish feel surprisingly refreshing. Green Beans - $4.50 (3.5/5): These had a great bite to them--crisp-tender with a fresh, vibrant texture. The seasoning was flavorful with a savory base, but what surprised me most was the subtle heat that built up as you ate more. It wasn't overpowering, just a nice, unexpected kick that made them more interesting than your typical side. House Pickles (free) - 2/5: These were very crunchy and had a sharp, vinegary tang that leaned heavily on the sour side. While they were fresh and crisp, the flavor felt a bit one-dimensional and overly acidic for my taste. Spicy Pickles (free) - 4/5: Much better balance here. Still nice and crunchy with that same sour backbone, but the added heat gave them a bold, zesty edge that made them way more enjoyable. The spice lingered just enough to keep you reaching for another. Banana Cream Soda - $2 (2.5/5): This was light, fizzy, and refreshing with a smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel. The banana flavor was present but very subtle--more of a faint, artificial sweetness than a rich, ripe banana taste. It leaned more toward a mellow vanilla-cream soda vibe with just a hint of banana in the background. Not bad, just a bit underwhelming if you're expecting a bold, dessert-like banana flavor. Overall, a solid BBQ spot with friendly service and some standout items--especially the ribs and mac & cheese. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a laid-back, no-frills lunch.

Some of the meats we ordered: - Beef Brisket - Beef Bulgogi - Spicy Beef Bulgogi - Pork Belly - Spicy Pork Belly I enjoyed the beef brisket and pork belly the most. Banchan offered are japchae, corn cheese, kimchi, sesame broccoli, pickled radishes, egg soufflé and rice. Japchae, sesame broccoli and egg soufflé was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the corn cheese as it came out in these little aluminum cups with cheese on top and it's left on the grill until the cheese melts. The service is good. You cook the meat yourselves here, but our server came around to take our orders and change the grills pretty often. 985 also offers a ramen bar for an additional cost at the center of the restaurant. They have a ton of ramen options for you to choose from and various toppings to add a la carte. Overall, it's a decent AYCE KBBQ at a good value.
