Finally got to try this chain after an appointment day last month. I didn't realize it was a national chain until recently. Apparently, there are locations all the way to Michigan and Wisconsin even. Ordered curbside pickup online just to see if they really would honor it, fully expecting to go in, since so much of that has stopped since the height of COVID. We decided to try the Motherload sampler with a variety of sides. When we got there and checked in via text, we were surprised that they actually were going to come outside to deliver it (but we met them at the door in any case). Good to know for next time. Overall, it was a pretty satisfying meal. We tried as many sides as we could get with our meal. All of them were pretty great. I'm partial to my own homemade mac and cheese and greens, but they weren't bad. As far as the meats go, I think I liked the brisket, turkey breast, and sausage best. The ribs could have been more tender but were slightly better than the ones I got from Cozy Coop this year. I still haven't found a rib place that really sticks with me in my immediate area, but there are many more to try of course! I just like that turkey breast was even an option for the sampler. It was seasoned well and not dry also. I joined the rewards program, so I received a discount that I used up front. I would definitely like to try some of their sandwiches with housemade pastrami, nachos, and some more of the meats and sides. Jackie, hopefully you are not an AI bot and actually review these posts? If so, my best advice is to make sure there is a true manager there on site at all times. I left a few minutes ago from this location and the three teenagers working clearly were more focused on getting the heck out of there instead of maintaining high quality of service with both food and the delivery of it. The ribs were dry and not nearly to the standard of what I've had prior. I would rather them said they were out of ribs the same way I was told the brisket was gone if the quality can't be the same as it normally is. Any barbecue fan could tell instantly they were subpar and shouldn't be served. I tried this location when they first opened and was underwhelmed (which is evident from my old review) but tried it again yesterday and had a much better experience. The pulled pork was good, with a Smokey flavor and lots of tasty char. I had a bite of their smoked sausage and it was outstanding, definitely the protein I'll order for myself next time. I also like how many really good side dish choices you have and especially enjoyed the corn pudding. On the downside, their prepackaged BBQ sauce really sucks, by far the worst I've tried. My suggestion is to get it to go and use whatever bbq sauce you've got in your fridge. Also not a fan of offering Pepsi drinks instead of Coke in a BBQ joint. The staff here is really friendly and they all seem to be having fun while they work which always results in a pleasant atmosphere. In a nutshell, this is a good chain bbq restaurant, comparable to Jim 'N Nicks but I would rank it slightly better due to their lower prices, better sides and friendlier service. Restaurant was fairly clean, but extremely cold. Brisket and ribs were kept warm just too long, both very dry. Texas toast, the bread itself was good, but not toasted with butter, nor garlic. 3.5 stars. This was a pretty hard review to write. In many ways I'm grading on a curve, because finding truly great barbecue in the Alpharetta/John's Creek area is next to impossible. I've eaten here three times. The first time I had occasion to try their catering but only got a taste of the pulled pork, which was absolutely delicious and the reason I went back to try what else they had to offer. Second time I went on Labor Day and it was busy, but not at all packed. I got: Pulled Pork-good but not as good as the first time. Mac and Cheese- Outstanding but tiny portion. Greens- Good. Not great. Half Chicken (leg and thighs)- Delicious. The smoked flavor really comes through and out of all the dishes this one really delivers on what you're looking for from BBQ. The last time I went I tried the brisket and was unimpressed as it was dry and salty. City Barbeque certainly is a chain that exists. If you guessed that this place serves barbecue, then you'd be correct. How is the barbecue from City BBQ? Honestly, it's pretty mid. You know what you're getting when you eat at a fairly large chain. The downside risk and upside are usually both limited when you pick a chain of this variety. I've tried to order one of their special brisket sandwiches a few times, only to consistently get the regular brisket sandwich. I said this about a small business, I'll say it about City BBQ too: a regular barbecue sandwich should contain more than meat and bread. If somebody wants to order it that way, they of course can. I just appreciate a bit more effort put into the menu. The smoked wings here were also as mid as anything else. I don't have too much more to say there. I have been enjoying City Barbeque since the orginal location in Kentucky while I was at the music fest. I was happy when they came to Orland Park IL . And now that I live in Georgia, I'm happy that I get to come to this location. My favorite thing to eat is the brisket. Today I had the pleasure of being assisted by the host Charles. He left an impression on me so I had to do a review on him. He displays what every employee should. He was friendly introduced himself and asked me how was my day. He was knowledgeable, and he provided me his opinion on different things on the menu that I have not tried yet. He did not rush us to order, he made sure that we were getting what we wanted without us feeling like we had to order fast because he had a line. This restaurant was an unexpected gem in Johns Creek! They have all kinds of BBQ sandwiches and platters like most BBQ restaurants but they also have fantastic sides!! There was so much to choose from! You order at the front counter and they will call you when your meal is ready to pick up. We ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich and Turkey Tacos as entrees. We picked 3 sides: Corn Pudding, BBQ Beans, and Fried Okra (no added salt). All sides were delicious! I would've liked the brisket sandwich to be a bit hotter though. For dessert we got the Banana Pudding and Peach Cobbler. Both desserts were sooooooo delish! I recommend you try both. If you bring the peach cobbler home, make sure you heat it up. I don't know why this location has such mixed reviews - I've never had a bad experience here. Their Togo could use some help, but it's truly because they just get overwhelmed when it's a big order and they mix things up/forget things. Staff are very nice and hardworking, you see the kitchen and front of house moving at the speed of lightning to try and get everyone fed. They are the most consistently good bbq in GA. Meat is seasoned and tender, all the sides are done well, delicious desserts. Having avoided returning to this establishment for quite some time, I relented to my wife's request and placed an order for pick up. Looking at their online menu leaves, no doubt, they are embracing inflation and taking it to a whole new level. Additionally, it appears that portion sizes have shrunk and prices have gone up. overpriced & mediocre bbq. their full slab is really the equivalent of a "real" slab cut down the middle to give you 12 bones (1/2 sized). then, adding insult to injury, they trim a significant amount of meat off the half bones giving you rectangular "bones" meant for a kids menu. so, in essence, you do get 12 bones but thats all you get. pulled pork is dry & really chopped not pulled. they served me 1/2 lb of it (to go) in an open paper container meant for french fries. but given how dry it is, a sealed container would be overkill. service attitude was less than impressive & just passing. lastly, my body gets queasy only from low quality pork, which is disappointing/unexpected to me for this restaurant. read more

This place used to be pretty good but now it feels badly neglected. The food is pretty tasteless, some of the sauces taste like cough syrup, and the mac and cheese tastes like army rations. The tables are dirty, as are the bathrooms. The upholstery on the benches is all torn up and it has become an unpleasant place to be. The condiment/self serve drink station was filthy, even though you'd just opened. BBQ sauce bottles filthy, obviously not cleaned recently, if ever. I came with my mom, brother, sister and brother in law. Mom and brothers orders both came out wrong. Sisters order took 8 minutes more than everyone else's, and her brisket looked like shoe leather. The kicker? A cockroach on the floor next to the bathroom. I will not be back anytime soon. There are too many other places to eat that actually give a damn about cleanliness & customer satisfaction. We tried this spot after seeing Daniel B.'s review. Daniel never leads us astray! It was a Friday night when we decided to grab take-out from this barbecue joint not too far from our home. My husband, son, and I wanted to try some different things, so we ordered the Judge's Sampler, which came with brisket, pulled pork, 1/4 chicken, and a half slab. We also got macaroni and cheese and corn pudding. The dish also arrived with corn bread and hot dog buns. We finished the meal off with some banana pudding. We ordered curbside, and pick up was a breeze. We noted the restaurant had an outdoor seating area - folks were eating both outside and inside (September 2020). The food was excellent. I think the ribs were my absolute favorite, followed closely by the brisket. That is certainly where I will focus my energies in the future. The macaroni and cheese and corn pudding were both great- I would definitely order again. This was an easy Friday night win!
