I give Kimchi Red Johns Creek / Suwanee a solid four stars. Their Korean fried chicken is quite good. It can stand up to the best I've had in metro Atlanta over the years. I think it's excellent plain without any sauce, actually. The texture is pretty much perfect, inside and out. Outside, you get that delectable extra crispy and crunchy skin and batter. Inside, the meat is tender and moist, even the pieces of white meat. And it's not too greasy. We've gotten takeout from this place twice now: yesterday and a week ago today. Here's what we've had so far: Korean Fried Chicken * Kimchi ($37.99) - mild, topped in a kimchi and onion stir-fry sauce, drizzled with mayo * Kang Nam ($32.99) - topped with fresh sautéed onions in a yogurt sauce, sprinkled with parsley and red seasoning Kimchi Red Plates * 4. Japchae Plate (japchae only, $13.99) - stir-fried clear glass noodles with vegetables Specials * Kimchi Fried Rice ($15.99) - topped with an over-easy egg Tteok Bokki * Rosé ($14.99) - mild, stir-fried rice cakes in a creamy tomato Alfredo sauce With takeout, the chicken is served in a box with an open top and sauces are served on the side to maintain the chicken's crispy texture. The default "plain" batter is adequately seasoned and tasty to me. Portion sizes are generous. The menu says each serving serves two people, but it's really more like three or four people unless you eat a lot. Both of our orders have been original bone-in chicken and I believe it was 12 pieces per order. Options besides bone-in include wings and boneless. Our leftovers have heated up amazingly well in our air fryer. The texture of the batter comes out just as good, if not better (!), and the meat stays juicy. Both the Kimchi and Kang Nam sauces are fresh and flavorful. The Kimchi sauce is kind of intense, but it pairs well with the chicken and is distinct to this restaurant. I recommend it. It's their signature sauce. The Kang Nam sauce is different. I think it's Kimchi Red's version of "snow onion" chicken, which is the most yogurty snow onion chicken I've had. I like it OK, but I don't think it's for everyone. I do think the sauce is nice because it's a refreshing contrast and cooldown from spicy chicken and sides like the tteokbokki. The Japchae was terrific. It's above average for restaurant-quality japchae. Ours included veggies like chives and wood ear fungus, which I appreciated. Very yummy. The Tteokbokki was fantastic as well. I wanted to try the "Rosé" sauce, which I think is named as such because of the combination of red (tomato) and white (Alfredo) sauces to form a pink sauce (it's more like red-orange). For us, the consistency of the rice cakes was ideal. The Rosé sauce is unique and flavorful, and definitely worth a try. The Kimchi Fried Rice was fine. It had some nice crispy bits as well as some unique sauces and seasonings like (I think) spicy mayo, seaweed, and sesame seeds. This is a satisfying dish. Everything has been presented nicely, even for takeout. Service has been good. Jinny was helpful in recommending items. During our first visit, an owner/manager went around the dining room asking customers what they thought of the chicken. He seemed proud of the product and explained things like they change the cooking oil everyday. I called in yesterday's order and spoke with (I think) Jinny again who communicated well; she read my order back to me and also confirmed the Kimchi Red location for pickup. There are currently three Kimchi Red locations in metro Atlanta: 1. Alpharetta, opened October 2021. 2. Johns Creek / Suwanee (this one), opened April 2024. 3. Peachtree Corners at Politan Row at The Forum, opened January 2025. This is a fast-casual restaurant where you order at the counter. If you call in an order, you pay in person at pickup. This location is in the Kroger shopping center near the intersection of 141 (Peachtree Pkwy) and McGinnis Ferry Rd.
On a day where work was slow I decided to get something different for lunch. After seeing this place months ago, and off the strength of a recommendation- I heard the KFC was elite on this side of town! Kimchi red was busy! Almost every able filled, but the restaurant was clean, minimalistic in design (plus), and inviting. I ordered A LOT! The portions are huge so one thing is enough for two people for sure. I had the original chicken bone in, with a sweet and spicy sauce. The chicken was crispy, hot, and flavorful. (4.5/5). I also tried the kimchi fried rice (3.5/5) which was good. We also tried the soy garlic wings. They gave me about 25 wings lol portions are huge! They were just as good as the KFC (4.7/5). The best part of Kimchi red was the owner. I believe her name is Ana! She greeted me warmly, made smart recommendations, and checked in on me consistently throughout the meal! The most impressive thing, i could feel her gratefulness for each guest who is frequenting her business. Ana, thank you- you are what restaurant owners should be. Keep your smile. Yall pull up! AND BE NICE TO MY FRIEND!
Buldak ramen with fried chicken ? Say no more, this was sooooo good! My husband and I waited to enjoy this with some friends so we could try different variations and this one by far was the best. I just wish they let you order a side of ramen because 4 people were trying to get this ramen. The chicken portions are big enough for 4 people I guess depends on how hungry you come but the ramen portions are small and you cannot order a side, which is the only downside. Overall, great option for comfort food
Kimchi Red should be on every person's to-try list! Ambience of this place is super casual, but neat and clean. Service is great, I've had the owner personally come and check up on us the 2 times I've dined here. As for the food, it is awesome! We got the traditional Kimchi Fried Chicken and K-Mega fried. Both tasted so good! Love this place.
I can definitely tell why people are hyping Kimichi Red so much, the chicken comes out hot and fresh, breading isn't too much and the chicken is super juicy. We ordered the original Spicy-Jeon Ju which is a sweet and spicy sauce. The portion is enough for 3 people, about 3-4 pieces of chicken. We also got the K-Mega Fries, loaded with onions, cilantro, melted cheese and kimchi, don't really recommend as it didn't suit our liking but unique to try. The place is very clean, has plenty of seating and is well decorated for christmas. I am only taking off a star due to my first impression of the place. We came right at opening and were the first one there. The person behind us were greeted and given a great hospitality when her order was taken but we however, didn't get the same treatment. It wasn't until we started whipping out our phones to vlog and take pictures of the food that she was a lot friendlier.
Jan. 18, 2025 We ordered the Rose Chon Fried Chicken. It is tossed in a creamy, tomato-based Alfredo Parmesan sauce (contain cashew nuts) Spicy level: mild It was crunchy and flavorful. I highly recommended and there are so many other flavors. Will definitely come back to try more when I'm back in the area again.
I kept seeing Kimchi Red all over my Instagram feed, so I finally went with a friend for her birthday -and it did not disappoint! We left absolutely stuffed and satisfied. Everything we ordered was packed with bold, flavorful spices. We both have a pretty high spice tolerance, and even then we had runny noses from the heat-- but we were loving every bite! If it's your first time, I'd recommend starting with just one half chicken before going all in - the portions are super filling!
Highly overrated. I've heard over and over that this is the best Korean Fried Chicken in America. It definitely did not live up to that hype. It was ok, but was not worth the wait and was certainly not significantly better any other Korean Fried Chicken place (like BB.Q Chicken or CM Chicken). I'd definitely comeback during a non-busy time, but I'm in no rush to come here over any of the other establishments. The chicken was perfectly fried and crispy. It was nicely flavored and had the perfect kimchi flavor. But the wait was so long and we never got one thing we ordered. Because the wait was so long, I just requested a refund.
The food is really good! They offer a wide range of sauces with the chicken from spicy to sweet. The chicken is juicy and perfectly cooked. The prices are fair for the amount of food you get. The spicy soy garlic sauce was FANTASTIC! They also offer quite a few vegetarian sides and dishes which surprised me. It does take a while to get your food because they make it fresh. Our order came out in two parts. They also forgot our kimchi fried rice but we were already full so not a big deal. They also instantly refunded the money. The bathroom was also spotless. Two things I did didn't really like. Plastic cutlery/styrofoam cups and the smallest sides of kimchi that you have to pay for. I would certainly come back. Recommended.
We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday with others. The space is nicely laid out; you go up to the counter and order and the menu is clear and easy to follow. Despite us having a big party, it was easy to find seating altogether which was a surprise because the space itself isn't tbat big. We ended up ordering the Kimchi fried chicken and went with whole and boneless. We also got a tteokbokki with cheese and rose options. Kimchi fried chicken - delicious and crisp skin and very moist chicken inside. Even in Georgia, the home of fried chicken, this was a delightful savory experience. There was a good balance of the stir fried kimchi and sauce where you had a solid coating but weren't drowning. The whole was enough for myself and my wife to share and we had leftovers. We got medium for spice but could have gone spicier. Their spice is quite mild from my impression. Tteokbokki - delicious. I personally prefer it when the rice cakes are more crispy but being able to add their rice to mix in the sauce and soak up all the flavor was great. We also had leftovers from this so we got to-go boxes. Later, I ate both at my house and even cold, the flavoring was fantastic. This was definitely the effort to go to John's Creek though I likely will pick another closer location in the future. read more

What a rip off. Not sure if it was the cashier fault or what but it is unacceptable that they charged you $5 for 2 small cup of sauce... first time eating here and this will leaves you a sour taste and I will never come back read more

Food was very good. Workers treated us well and were very nice. Only thing that could've made the experience better was timing of food coming out. It took 30ish minutes to get the fries, then an additional 7ish minutes for chicken. read more

Heard this place is the nation's #1 Korean fried chicken, and after trying it, I get why. The fried chicken is very crispy and juicy, with the Kang Nam Style featuring a creamy yogurt sauce and onions, while the Mal-La delivers a spicy, numbing kick. The Chef's Secret Fried Chicken strikes the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy. I also loved the K-Mega Fries and Kimchi Fried Rice, packed with flavor! The Red Buldak is very interesting, it had spicy ramen on top of crispy chicken. Everything was great, will definitely be back! read more

This location used to give you 8oz of their sauce on the side to go when you ordered their whole chicken. Understandable because they claim they don't want the chicken to get soggy. Recently, they reduced it down to 2oz for a whole chicken for to go orders. Seriously? That's not enough for 3 chicken pieces. What's worse is on their clover menu, they currently SELL 8 oz of sauce for $4.99. When I went in to the store the next day to buy more sauce, they said it's 4.99 for 4 oz. I asked what would happen if I purchase it on clover, and they said they'll cancel the order. I told them they need to update their Clover menu, and the disrespectful kid working the counter said "duly noted". What terrible customer service!! Terrible customer service. Just increase the price of the chicken and everyone would understand. Don't nickel and dime your customers. I will NEVER come back to this restaurant. read more

This place is definitely worth the hype and be expected to wait a long time during peak times. It took us about 1.5 hours to get our food even though it was to go. We ordered two orders which was plenty for our family of 4. We went with the spicy jeonju and the red budlak. Our server was also really nice to pack the sauce and chicken separately so it wouldn't get soggy on our drive home. The chicken by itself was delicious and paired well with the sauces. The jeonju sauce was initially a bit sweet but had a good spice kick on the end. The red budlak was also quite tasty since it included some ramen noodles in a spicy sauce. I wasn't the biggest fan of the cheese on there but overall enjoyed it. Each dish was good for 2 people. Can't wait to come back and maybe experience another flavor during an off peak time. read more
You go in and order at the counter and then they will seat you at a table. Pretty small seating inside but they will try to accommodate. They do have a bottle beverage station to purchase. Food came out pretty fast. The chicken was very tender and hot and flavorful. The kalbi plate and the KMega Fries were delicious. The kimchi fried rice was spicy and flavorful. This location is just as good as the original. It's less busy than the other one so it was easy to find a seat and get recommendations of what to get. We split a soy garlic chicken and kimchi fried rice. I'd say it was all yummy and the chicken feels very fresh. This was enough to take home for another meal later for both of us. read more
I visited Kimchi Red on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 3 pm. I came after having lunch expecting to eat only a single wing as a snack. But when the mountain of rose chon wings came out all smothered in that rich, decadent Parmesan Alfredo sauce, I was so hooked! I ate more wings than I anticipated. The chicken was hot and super moist. Although the sauce looked really heavy, it tasted balanced and wasn't too rich. Who knew chicken wings would eat so well with a pasta sauce?! All I can say is AMAZING. It all began with the service, The amazing lady that helped me , which turned out to be one of the owners, treated me with such loving and kind hospitality it blew my mind. I will be going back simply for that. I had over 100000 questions because well they had lots of options! I ended up going with a kimchi fried rice and their "chef favorite" chicken & yall it was just as good as the service. Their chicken portions are def made to serve 2 people but hey it just meant two meals for me! I also had 2 of their drinks, one was a Japanese coffee thingy and the other was a this cool soda that you push a little ball in to drink. Their set up is super cute and I watched them accommodate for a group of 20 which was pretty awesome as well. read more

The fact that you can't sit down at a table unless you have 3 people is ridiculous. There were 2 open tables and we were forced to sit at the high top. It wasn't busy to the point where we should've been able to enjoy our food at a proper table. Very poor experience and I haven't even tried the chicken yet. Oh yeah, it was my birthday and first time visiting Atlanta. So I don't recommend coming here unless you want ungodly rules forced upon you. Lastly, someone sat down and nothing was said. The worker who was in her mid 40s to early 50s with a red shirt was the disaster of an employee that caused the worst experience I had. read more
Good portion size, very very light and crispy, fried to perfection. Love the variety of flavors they have here. I tried the mala one which was good but the sauce made some of the chicken soggy which is totally normal but next time I will try the cheese flavor so it stays more crispy read more

My family and I visited Kimchi Red for the first time tonight to celebrate my dad's birthday. After hearing rave reviews about it being the number one fried chicken spot in the country, we were excited to try it out. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Tommy, who guided us through the menu and made some excellent recommendations. We decided on: - Soy Garlic Chicken - Bulgogi Plate - K-mega Fries - Kimchi Fried Rice All the food was phenomenal! The fried chicken had a perfectly crispy exterior while maintaining a lightness that is hard to find. I was particularly impressed by the absence of any oily taste, which is often a deal-breaker for me with fried food. The kimchi fried rice had just the right level of spice, complemented by a perfectly cooked egg on top. The bulgogi was exceptionally tender and flavorful, and came with some delicious japache and white rice on the side. The K-mega fries were a highlight, gloriously topped with delicious sauces and pork. Though a bit messy, the restaurant thoughtfully provided gloves to make the eating process less messy. We also loved the bottled drink selection, which included teas, boba drinks, ramune sodas, and some of the best coconut water I've ever had! To top it all off, Tommy ensured that my dad's birthday was special with a thoughtful celebration touch. We will definitely be returning to try more of their delicious offerings! read more
Been hearing the hype about this place for so long and happy to say it lives up to it. The place was poppin, lines for days and trouble finding a place to sit. As a vegetarian, there's not much you can get off the menu but from what you can get, 10/10. We wanted to try the tteokbokki, but they had just run out! The kimchi fried rice is a must have, it's flavor packed and I love how the meals come family style. I've never had japchae with rice so that was interesting but it was also delicious! The fried chicken came with homemade pickled radish which was so good, highly recommend asking for some on the side. The kimchi fried rice was definitely my favorite. The vibes inside were very warm and festive for the season. Service was friendly and I would definitely recommend! Already looking forward to my next visit! read more
We attended the grand opening of Kimchi Red, and I had been so excited to try out the food for a while now. I'm sooo glad they are finally open! They claim Nations #1 fried chicken and I believe it!! It is some of the best fried chicken. We got two different flavors along with kimchi fries, and everything was so good. The inside is really beautiful and clean. Everyone was sooo nice, and we even got to have some cake for the grand opening. Can't wait to come back PS: majority of food is halal read more

You order at the counter and then they serve you your food at the table you choose to sit. It is a fast casual restaurant. You get your own silverware and napkins. The fried chicken was not THE best I have had but it was good. It did not meet the hype it received. The Red Buldak fried chicken was lathered with the ramen but the noodles were overcooked and on the soggy side. The Spicy Jeongju wings were not spicy enough even though the hot was ordered. In my opinion the wings tasted WAY better than getting the original (whole chicken). Will try again to see if it was just that location or menu item. read more

Borrowing Donkey's line from Shrek about parfait... "Korean Fried Chicken may be the most delicious thing on the whole dang planet!!!" Especially when prepared at Kimchi Red! It was my first ever visit but not my last! I ordered the SPICY JEON JU at the recommendation of the girl taking my order, and also the RED BULDAK at the recommendation of a family eating near the counter. I did not know prior to arriving that the chicken orders are for a whole chicken, but I definitely wanted to try TWO flavors so I dug a little deeper into my wallet. [ THE FOOD ] Simply put, the plain fried chicken all by itself is AH-MAZING!!! Perfectly cooked, perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfectly seasoned and surprisingly not very greasy. The Jeon Ju sauce was a great compliment, but I honestly could have done without it because the chicken itself was so good. The Red Buldak noodles were also a great compliment, but I think I will ask for a milder spice level next time. Other than that, everything was perfect! [ THE SERVICE ] The restaurant is very clean. The moment any group finished their meal the staff was immediately cleaning the table. The young lady who took my order was so friendly and detailed in explaining the menu. She also made rounds to customer tables when she wasn't busy checking to see if anyone needed anything and said goodbye to everyone leaving. Even the owner came by my table and made sure I had a bag for my to-go boxes and a lid for my sauces. I felt extremely well taken care of and eagerly wanting to return with family and friends. I probably called a half dozen people on the way home to tell them about my new food find! [ THE VERDICT ] It's definitely not fast food! Expect to wait at least 20-30 minutes for your order to be prepared. But it was worth every minute of the wait. I spent a total of about $70.02 for both meals after tax. Pricey when you consider it doesn't come with any sides, but it really is very good! Maybe not the best in the USA, but I don't think you will be disappointed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND... and apparently so do many others because according to the TikTok I saw that put them on my radar, they are the number one rated fried chicken on YELP in the entire USA. The service was amazing and nice and the mega fries were delicious but would you eat this chicken?? I asked the lady at the counter if it was supposed to look that pink and all she said was "it's chicken thigh it's supposed to look like that". I've worked in food service for four years including making fried chicken and I've never seen it look this dark pink or shiny I was very disgusted. read more
