First impressions on walking in: This has a small sitting area - maybe 8 to 10 tables. It has K-pop playing on the tv. They have Pepsis products in a case and at the fountain. They have cups for water, that you can get from the fountain or a pitcher they have put out. You order at the counter or on a kiosk. This was our first time here so we decided to get the sampler platter. It comes with drums, wings, bulgogi fries, potstickers, street corn, and coleslaw. We wanted to try a few things. We got spy garlic and spicy sauce on the side. The food came out quick - and it was a lot. We ended up having to get a to-go box. Everything was good, but our favorites were the potstickers, the drums and bulgogi fries. The coleslaw was a nice light finish too. This is the kind of place I used to frequent back in the San Francisco Bay Area, the kind of food that does not just satisfy a craving but completely takes over your mood. I am fairly certain my driving became questionable for a moment as I made a very committed turn into the parking lot. Walking in felt like a reunion I did not know I needed. Korean fried chicken, done right, is a very specific kind of joy. It is crispy, it is loud, and it does not apologize for it. Bonchon delivers on all of that. We went big and ordered the 30 piece boneless mix with soy garlic and Korean BBQ, because restraint did not feel appropriate for the occasion. The chicken came out exactly how I remembered it. Perfectly double fried with that signature crunch that somehow stays intact even under a generous coating of sauce. The soy garlic had that sweet savory balance that keeps you reaching for just one more piece, and the Korean BBQ brought a deeper, slightly smoky flavor that made it impossible to pick a favorite. It was less of a meal and more of a full experience. We also added pork potstickers with a soy garlic glaze, which felt like the correct life decision. Crispy edges, tender filling, and just enough glaze to make them disappear faster than intended. At some point I stopped pretending I was sharing. The place itself was spectacularly clean, which immediately stood out. The only hiccup came with the service. The staff were not unfriendly, but they were occupied at the register and did not notice that our order had been sitting behind them for a bit. We eventually walked over to check if it was ours. That extra wait took a little away from the experience, and the chicken was not quite as crisp as it should have been by the time we got it. It is the only reason this lands at four stars instead of five. There is something about finding a place you loved from another chapter of your life in a completely different state. It feels like a small win. My husband may not have been convinced that seventy eight dollar shorts were a good investment, but I would argue this detour more than made up for it. If you are anywhere near Alpharetta and have even a passing appreciation for fried chicken that takes itself seriously, this place still absolutely delivers. I would give the food a four. Barely. The service was non existent. You ordered your food from a kiosk and then someone brought it out to you later. The ambience was bad from the start. Just an empty shell at lunchtime with no one there. It's just an upstart restaurant without having to try. Making the customer do all of the work. Some friends and I stopped by Bon Chon after a day of shopping in Alpharetta. The food was really good! The Korean Fried Chicken Katsu was delicious and I also took some Korean Fried Chicken Home for Dinner that night, it was phenomenal, even reheated. I believe the Korean Fried Chicken I got was the Ginger Garlic or Honey Garlic and it was sooooo good! I highly recommend. The kimchi is extra spicy to me and I eat a lot of kimchi, I wish it was bit milder, but still good. The prices are average, but they do have a few deals. The ambience was nice, it was very modern and like a Korean street food spot. The employees were nice and helpful as well. Bonchon is a famous Korean fried chicken chain. The first location in GA that opened is in Fayetteville and we had driven all the way down to get some so I'm so so glad that there's a closer spot now. We ordered everything from tacos, chicken sandwhich, japchae, to bibimbop and they were decent but it's undeniable that their specialty is chicken. Especially soy garlic sauce. A+ customer service! The restaurant is sparkly clean. It's a pretty small space and was pretty busy for a weekday evening. More affordable than kimchi red, which is almost across the street, but kimchi red has more flavor options/variety. I had the chicken strips, and they were larger than I expected. The chicken was double fried, crunchy goodness. I got the Korean BBQ sauce, and I wish I could taste the sauce more. Some pieces I could really taste it and others I couldn't. My bf got the soy garlic wings...and soy garlic is AMAZING. The batter on the wings was absolutely delicious, but the chicken looked too soft for my liking. I have ordered twice from here each time I'm in the area. I live 30 minutes or more away. I got the drumsticks. They were huge! Almost the size of a smoked turkey drum you get at the fair. 2 of these alone are almost enough to feed a big guy like me and stupid me, I got 6! So I spent the next two meals eating this chicken. Not only do I not regret it, but it tasted better cold and it was still crunchy a day later. On my second trip I ended up just getting a 10pc combo. This was filling and just as tasty! I also got their coleslaw on one trip, and that goes well with KFC style chicken. The location is pretty small and setup like a fast food/fast casual restaurant with counter order and self serve drink machine. I wouldn't say it's a date spot, unless your date is a foodie and likes KFC style fried chicken. Service was great, it does take longer to cook the drums due to how large they are, so be patient. We first experienced Bonchon in NC (and we seek out that place whenever possible) so when we heard there was a location in the metro area, we were excited to enjoy the same experience. Why 4 stars and not 5: We were disappointed to find this location has no seafood protein on their menu (and this may keep us from returning). The location is also much smaller (but this is understandable). Otherwise, the food was good. The house fried rice requires no extra condiments or seasonings (except maybe a few pickled radishes for an unexpected punch). The wings are always fried well and were demolished quickly. I stopped by Bonchon for the first time tonight and got carry out. After easily ordering and paying on a kiosk (great pictures of everything made it easy to decide what to get) I received a bag ten minutes later and came home. Wow, the chicken is incredible and the seasoned fries were great. I got the side of pickled radish instead of coleslaw and it was simple but so full of flavor that it was a perfect compliment to the very flavorful chicken. I highly recommend this place! My time trying Korean Fried Chicken and eating at this new restaurant in Alpharetta. I understand it is a franchise location of a nationwide chain of these restaurants. One thing I noticed is that the prices were what I considered high for fried chicken. I ordered the combo meal of wings and drumsticks. The wings were good sized and crispy on the outside even though they were covered in sauce. I got the Korean BBQ sauce version but should have gotten the Ginger Soy version. I am sensitive to spicy foods and the Korean BBQ had a spicy edge to it. I was told later that the Ginger Soy version was less spicy. The lady at the counter tried to help by giving me some Ranch dressing to dip the chicken in and also some of their pickled radishes, which she said helps cut the spicy taste. As I said the wings were good sized and crisp. The drumsticks were also good sized, but they were a little overcooked for my liking. I gave the place a 3 star, middle of the road rating. I didn't see anything special about it or the food and the prices were high in my opinion. I am unlikely to return. read more

My husband and I recently moved down to Alpharetta and was so excited to see that there was a Bonchon nearby bc we love bonchon chicken. I've got to say, in all the years I've had bonchon this was the worse ever. Our chicken wings were not crispy at all! Additionally, the kimchi smelled overdue like it's been left on the counter uncovered for days. The only good thing in our order was the seasoned fries in which I gave 1 star. I called to express my concerns and especially the overdue kimchi, and the lady said she will double check the kimchi and carry out wings, the sauce on the chicken will make the wings soggy. To some extent, I agree that the sauce can make the wings soggy, but of all the years I had carry out, they were never once soggy like this. Bonchon is known for the airy double crunch crispiness and this was NOT it. Lesson is, please check your food thoroughly before leaving if you're doing carry out, bc this was a huge disappoint of at least $50. Will never go to this Bonchon again! read more

Tried Bonchon for the first time for lunch today and so glad I did! I had the spicy chicken wings (batter dipped and twice fried). The wings were large and the crispy crust almost shattered like glass! The spicy sauce was just the right level of heat- legitimately hot but really delicious! I also had the bulgogi fries! The food at Bonchon is delicious! If I wasn't already trying to lose weight they'd see me a lot more often lol. The service is super pleasant and I definitely felt welcomed from the moment I walked in. The ambience is nice, but it was pretty busy and most of the seats were taken up so just be aware of that potentially being an issue if you plan to dine in. My only minor complaint with my chicken strips was a couple of my pieces were pretty much all breading with very little meat inside. Not ideal considering the meals aren't the cheapest. Hopefully that was just a one time thing though! read more

Chicken was crispy, but prices were over the top for what you get. $9.00 for 6 tiny boneless nuggets! Wings were good but prefer the option to order flats only. Fried rice was ok, chicken in the rice was dry and flavorless and again very pricey at $13.00 for an order. The cheesy corn was good but small and expensive. Service is also very slow, for a quick serve restaurant this does not work. Paying white tablecloth prices at a walk-up to counter to order restaurant is not a good model.
