Favorite Korean BBQ spot! I'm a sauce girl, and their sauce selection is honestly better than most other BBQ places around here. The wait can get pretty long sometimes, but it's 100% worth it. Once you're seated, the service is always great--staff are kind, patient, and especially accommodating with kids. They'll help cook the meats here and there, but if you know Korean BBQ, you know it's mostly a hands-on experience. The vibe is lively with music playing, just like most KBBQ spots, and they do a great job keeping everything clean before seating guests. Plus, they have a solid variety of meats to choose from. Huuuuuge KBBQ fan; I've tried many places but this one here takes the crown. Pricing wise (I'm never the one paying) is very fair and the food is always fresh. The salad dressing is probably my least favorite thing off the menu but everything else makes up for it. The service is always very attentive and most of the times they cook it for you. My sister and her friends told me they were going here last night and i dropped EVERYTHING to make sure i joined them, LOL! If you looking for a fair priced KBBQ night, you won't leave disappointed. I have been coming to E.M. Bop for what feels like forever and say it's still a solid spot, just no longer a favorite. The late hours make it an easy option for family dinners or a late night Korean BBQ craving, which is honestly a big reason it stays in rotation. Over the past few years, though, the experience has shifted from great to simply good. One of the biggest changes is the move away from charcoal grills to gas. Without the coals, the flavor just is not the same, especially on brisket. Charcoal grilling gives you that deeper, smokier flavor and higher heat, which is why meats like brisket, short rib, and pork belly taste noticeably different and often better over coals which is why I avoid many of the other spots that don't have wood or coal. The meat tends to stick quickly, and it is hard to get through a full round without needing a grill swap, which breaks the rhythm of the meal. The banchan and sides are another area where things feel less dialed in than they used to be. The selection is still there, but the execution feels inconsistent and like it's just eh. Some feel bland, and the salad in particular often feels hastily assembled rather than fresh and crisp. These details used to elevate the meal and now feel more like an afterthought. The soup is lacking at times too although I will say their custom cilantro sauce and their upgrade salad wrap / greens options are a win just wish I had better meat to wrap it. Service can be hit or miss, though this feels more like a staffing and volume issue than a server issue. The restaurant gets extremely busy, and the workload seems heavier than what the staff can realistically manage which I don't fault them on. Also, no tipping option as they charge the 20% service fee no matter the size of your party. Which I totally understand with how people don't tip the way they should... So, on the cooking. You often end up doing most of the cooking and cutting yourself, with brief check ins from someone stopping by mainly to change the grill. With gas grills, that becomes more noticeable since food sticks more easily and grills need to be swapped more often. They are pretty quick on the meat ordering though, but refilling the side dishes can be hit or miss. The all you can eat menu is still a decent value if you know what to order. The seasoned pork continues to have good flavor and consistency, and the short rib remains a solid option. Brisket, however, lacks depth without the charcoal grilling and they have a good list of options. The sets are decent too, but nothing to come here for specifically.. Overall, E.M. Bop is still a good and convenient option, especially because of the hours, but it has gone from great to good in my book. Considering the quality at some of the other concepts under the same ownership, it feels like this spot could benefit from a refresh. Craving KBBQ and this place did not disappoint. Our server was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Not just our server, but others came to assist as needed also which they showed good teamwork. The quality of the meats were good which most were marinated well. The accommodation of the sauces also added a good touch to the flavors of the meats. Sides such as corn cheese, egg soufflé, and seafood tofu soup were also good. The restaurant was very clean and spacious which they are able to accommodate many large parties. Had a meet up with a few friends. They got here before us and started eating and service was fine. However after all of my party arrived, the service sucked afterwards. They stop bussing the tables, became extremely slow at serving items and more often times than not, you gotta ASK for the things you need from other servers. 2 stars for the good quality of food and the variety this place has. However, the service was super slow considering how its a 90 minute limit. Our waitress was no where to be found and we had to ask other servers for things. The table we sat was right next to the dirty dishes cart, so we had to throw our plates there since no one ever showed up to clear the tables. AYCE Korean BBQ for lunch. Nice ambiance, great customer service, delicious food! My favorite is beef brisket, corn cheese, and pork belly. We also got pork steak, bulgogi, soybean paste soup egg soufflé. The side items, banchans dishes are good especially kimchi, salads, and macaroni salad. The 4 dipping sauces options is great too. Our family go-to KBBQ whenever we are craving to eat lots of meats and do not want to drop serious $$$$. Lots of meat options and veggies and banchans. The side items are also plenty to choose from. One of the few KBBQ with this many options of side dishes. When they get busy, service is sparring but they make sure that meats comes out fast. Came by for the $25 lunch AYCE on a Monday. Extremely fast service, attentive staff (3-4 people checking up on us constantly). We'd put in an order, and someone would swing by to check if we needed anything else. Grills were changed multiple times during our visit. Wasn't too busy (maybe 4-5 other parties?). Thinly sliced pork belly and brisket were our faves - also got the pork belly, bulgogi, among other meats. Banchan was fine (variety of pickled veg, mac salad, kimchi), as well as slices of pickled radish perfect to wrap protein in. Ask for sesame oil in the salt for dipping. We were surprised by the individual portions of steamed egg, cheese corn, etc. Might be a ploy to fill you up on non-meat items, but doesn't hurt to specify. No upcharge for the steamed egg, which was nice (something I've been seeing at other spots). Can't beat a $25 AYCE !! Ate so much it doubled as dinner too. read more

Food was good, service was one of the worst restaurants I've been to. We went during lunch hours and the restaurant was fairly empty. There were few waiters and waitresses walking around, but they only checked up on us 3-4 times during our stay, essentially when we had to order our meats. Also, wasn't sure if we were supposed to cook ourselves or not? They would cook and disappear, so at one point we had to take over because the briskets started to burn. The meats were tasty though. It's a all you can order setup, so we tried few hours of the brisket and prime rib. The array of ban chan or side dishes were good. Their kimchi is fresh, so it's got a good kick to it, not the fermented kinds. I recommend the brisket because it's pretty tender and cooking it to make it slightly crispy and dipping it in the sauces given really adds good flavor. I think it's a sweet deal for $29.99 lunch special, but tip is included. Honestly though makes me wonder if because tip was included, service was mediocre because performance really doesn't matter. Had a genuinely excellent experience here with family, as we visited from California, to celebrate my SIL's graduation. We called in on the same day, to request for a reservation for our large group, & were accommodated perfectly, only waited 5mins after arrival to be seated. The space was nice & roomy, pretty high tech grills, & the server helped generously with the grilling. The menu options are top notch! And yes, the beef tartare is included with the dinner AYCE. But the highlight for me was definitely the thick cut pork belly. Our server (special shoutout to EDWARD!) was an absolute grill master w/ the thick cut pork belly! We ordered that a few times bc his grilling skills were a literal CRAFT! Service overall was pretty good, but the meat quality has gone down. We ordered combo B and enjoyed the service more than the meat... There were plenty of side dishes and they were alright. Had a terrible experience this past weekend that let me and my friends to decided we're not coming back to E.M Bop. This is very unfortunate because we actually love the food here and we pretty much come at least once a month, but these new servers they have are ruining the experience for everyone. Our server was super rude and kept rushing everything. I asked for a soda after I saw he brought one for someone else in my table (he never asked me what I wanted to drink) and he literally rolled his eyes at me and walked away. Their menu says the cut off time is 90 minutes but after an hour of being there our server brought our checks without us asking for it. It was one of my friends birthday and another friend wanted to pay for her so we asked if he could put her check in his. The server got super annoyed and handed my friend a notepad and a pen so she could write how we wanted check splits because "he was confused". He wasn't confused, he was just annoyed at something that wouldn't had happened if he asked first if we were ready for the checks and how we wanted them split. My friend asked if she could have some more cheese corn before we paid he said "no because I already closed your check" but we literally never told him we were done smh. After this we all agreed we're not coming back unfortunately. Their menu also states that they will charge 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more but they charge this to everyone even when we had 2 people, or 4 people. We checked in upon arrival at the kiosk and was #2 in line. There was no one at the front desk, no one else waiting, and they did not seem busy. One of the staff walked by and said nothing, he answered the phone and left. We waited close to about 10 mins with zero acknowledgment of our existence from the staff and had considered leaving. Finally someone comes by and takes us to our table. We went with the ayce option. Our entire experience was average. Our server was somewhat attentive and changed our grill plenty of times, however when we asked for more sides the service was extremely slow. (1/6/24 Update): It's been a few years since I last came here. Parking lot is still super packed and especially weekend nights, it is hard to find parking. The restaurant opens very late (3:00am) The restaurant itself is very small compared to many Korean BBQ spots and seating can be limited. Luckily we were seated right away. We all ordered the AYCE option which is only $29.99 right now. I will start out with everything that I ordered that was amazing: The beef brisket was amazing because it was thinly slicked and very very tasty. The garlic and fresh shrimp was a bit small but still tasty. The EM Bop Short Rib Cuts, Seasoned Short Rib Cuts, and Teriyaki Short Rib Cuts were definitely must order items on the menu. They were all marinated to perfection and highly delicious. This place has the best AYCE side dishes. Surprisingly I loved their cucumbers, fish cakes, cheese corn, and steamed eggs. The salad here wasn't too good as it had no flavor. I will say theh have some green lime chili cilantro sauce that was just off the chain. The sauce reminds me of the green cilantro sauce at a Mexican restaurant. I had to get refills on this sauce!! Customer service was amazing as the employees were hustling like crazy. We never had an issue with ordering more items. The price point on this was amazing for the quality and quantity of foods. I really can't wait to come back here again and highly recommend this place if your in the Duluth area and wanting some AYCE Korean bbq. My friend & I drove from central Florida to have an Atlanta food trip. On the way to Atlanta, we stumbled on Yelp that EM Bop would be still opened until 3am, which was perfect because we arrived after 10pm. The restaurant is very large and the front sign is suelper bright and inviting. What also drew us in was the price for dinner at $30 ayce with a huge menu options of meat served. Back home, ayce korean bbq dinners start at $40+ with less options on the menu. We had ordered the thin sliced brisket, EM Bop rib cuts & seasoned rib cuts, and immediately agreed that the stars were the slided brisket & seasoned rib cuts. Something we don't have at ayce korean bbq in central Florida is the impeccable service. Every few minutes we had 4-5 servers come by to double check the cooking progress of our meat and cut them into bite sized pieces. At the end of our trip, my friend and I agreed that EM Bop was 100% the highlight of the trip and it's on my list of Korean bbq restaurant to go each time I visit Atlanta. read more

I think food wise it's a 3.5/5 stars, but I rounded up to 4 for the review because the service was really good. They came to check on us frequently and didn't miss a beat when we needed to put more orders whether it's for sauces, banchan (sides), meat, water, etc. We came as a group of 6 so we got to sample a variety of meats. The only ones that really stuck out to me were the briskets, pork belly, and the EMBop signature short rib. We got the seasoned short rib and it was really gamey compared to the EMBop signature one. My friends really liked their corn cheese, but for me I think it was too sweet. The egg souflee was my favorite side dishes: light, fluffy, juicy, and savory. The banchan didn't really stick out to me and I didn't eat much of it, which is surprising since I love picking at banchan. They gave a variety of sauces, which is nice to have many options. They also have ssamjang (fermented soy bean paste) sauce that pairs well with pork belly, but you have to ask the waiter for it. read more

I don't know if this place used to be good but it's just below average now. The interior is outdated, very poor ventilation, smells like grease, and is very dirty. It's in need of a renovation. We came for lunch and ordered the kimchi pancake, beef bone broth soup, and mullangmyun. The pancake was undercooked and still wet and soggy on the inside. I took most of it home and recooked it. The soup was basic as well as the cold noodles. The service was good. Not sure if it was because we were the only customers in there but the servers were nice and service was quick. There are so many Korean restaurants/bbq in the area and this one seems a bit run down so I would not come back here. read more

I took my family here to eat one night after hearing from several people that E.M. Bop has really good and high quality KBBQ. Upon arrival, there wasn't anyone at the front to greet us, but I saw a tablet for a waitlist so I put our name down and we sat outside to wait. We waited for about 20 minutes or so before getting seated, and after being seated, we reviewed the menu which I was honestly confused by but didn't question it. I thought E.M. Bop was AYCE, but from the menu we had, it seemed there were very limited options (only combo meals). We didn't mind though- probably why we didn't question it further. Combo meals generally offer better meat cuts, and my family wasn't too hungry anyways. But now that we've gone, I'm seeing the pictures on Yelp and see there are more menus than we were given (AYCE and appetizers). After the food came out, my family was pleased with our choice. The meat selection was great and the portions were enough to fill us all up- family of 6 plus a baby. I'm not sure if the server cooks everything for you for AYCE as well, but for combo meal, the server stays at the table to cook the meat completely, cut, and serve the meats for us. Service was fast with bringing out refills or extra things we ordered. I do agree with what I've heard- the meat quality here is great. I'd say probably one of the best KBBQ meats I've eaten. I wasn't a fan of any of the sauces though and think they could improve on that or offer different selections. We had no issues at all parking. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. We were quickly greeted and seated. The side dishes were pretty standard. We went with the combo for 2, which was more than enough for 2 people. Probably can feed 3 pretty comfortably. Wanted to try an AYCE korean BBQ that wont break the bank and EM Bop definitely came through with some delicious korean style meats in the heart of Duluth. Came here over the weekend with my family and surprisingly only had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get a table for four people on a Sunday evening for dinner. The all you can eat is priced at $29 per person with a plethora of meets to choose from ranging from chicken, beef, pork and some seafood options. You can also order your typical side dishes like corn cheese and wraps as well. The great thing is when it comes to the pork options you can ask for a certain amount of portions for your table so you don't over eat. Recommended Meats: - seasoned short rib cut 9.5/10 (great flavor and seasoning) - EM Bop short rib cut 8/10 (its good, but not much flavor compared to the seasoned short rib) - brisket 10/10 - miso and garlic pork belly 8.5/10 Overall a great korean bbq experience and priced lower than nearby kbbq restaurants. I didn't see a reduction of meat quality just because it is priced lower than other restaurants. Reservations are made if your party is over five people. good amount of parking spots as well. We tried the Premium Combo and loved it! ALL beef ~ no pork! Typically, we don't go for the all-you-can-eat but I can see us giving that a try next time. Things you should know: I. PARKING Very straightforward. E.M.Bop is within a plaza and shares a free, public parking lot with the adjacent businesses. II. SERVICE Our waitress did her best to attend to the meats, but the place was incredibly busy. We ended up flipping items ourselves quite a bit, but that's honestly not a big deal. I didn't like that 상추 costed SIX extra dollars to have with your meal!! 너무 비싸요. Lettuce is not brought out with the food. However, we did truly enjoy the 파전 served prior to the meat! III. QUALITY Rule of thumb: the better cut and flavorful meat is cooked at the END of the course..! This stood true at E.M. Bop. We weren't disappointed. Save room for those last meats to cook..! So delicious and flavorful. Also want to note (again) that the combo meals do NOT have pork like most other places. IV.
