I enjoyed our dinner at Hwangso Gopchang in Duluth. If you like gopchang, I think this place is worth visiting. If you don't know what gopchang is, it's Korean grilled cow and pig intestines. It's similar to Korean barbecue, with grills at your table and banchan (side dishes) included. However, instead of beef brisket and pork belly, it's tripe and intestines. Hwangso Gopchang specializes in the cow variety, not pig (though they do serve other pig parts). To get a good idea of what this place is like (food, service, atmosphere) in less than 60 seconds (tl;dr version), check out my Instagram Reel: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBuS722vKXj/ Many of you are probably thinking: "Stomach, tripe, and intestines? Yuck! No thanks." If you're open-minded and/or adventurous when it comes to food, I encourage you to try gopchang. I think it's delicious and I've yet to be disappointed. If you've been turned off by tripe and intestines from other restaurants and cuisines (e.g., Chinese/Taiwanese, Latin American), throw those experiences out the window. The Korean version is different in almost every way -- taste, smell, and texture. Don't knock gopchang till you've tried it. To me, this is arguably the best version. There are several gopchang restaurants in metro Atlanta, mostly in Gwinnett County (of course). Here's my running list: * Gopchang on Fire 1 - Suwanee - opened 2015 https://bit.ly/2NlVHi1 * Gopchang on Fire 2 - Duluth - opened 2017 https://bit.ly/3P4igrp * Gopchang on Fire 3 - Doraville - opened 2023 https://bit.ly/432q02R * Hwangso Gopchang 1 - Duluth (this location) - opened 2018 https://bit.ly/3T0qbav * Hwangso Gopchang 2 - Duluth - opened 2023 https://bit.ly/3V4oA5Z * Gopchang Salon - Suwanee - opened 2021 https://bit.ly/432bsQS Gopchang on Fire is the original gopchang brand/chain in Georgia. I removed 9292 Gopchang in Duluth, which opened in 2018, from the list because it changed to Ziggle Korean BBQ and then to 9292 Korean BBQ 2 (by 2022). Hwangso Gopchang is located in the sprawling, two-story Duluth International Village (Spa Land shopping center). It replaced Korean restaurant Hong Dae Pocha. I know this center best for longtime tenants like traditional Korean restaurant Jang Won Jung, Bonjuk, and Wellbean Tofu. The latter two closed and were replaced by K-Mom's Kitchen and another location of So Gong Dong Tofu & BBQ, respectively. I'm happy to see this shopping center doing better, with a higher occupancy rate and more activity compared to 15-20 years ago, but I digress. If you've been to Gopchang on Fire, Hwangso Gopchang's main menu is similar. For example, they both offer "A" and "B" sets of gopchang with the same parts at the same price: A is $59.99 for 2-3 people, B is $69.99 for 3-4 people. These sets are what these places are known for. If you order a set, you should order other dishes too or you might not get full. Hwangso Gopchang differentiates itself by having a bigger menu. Items Hwangso has that Fire doesn't: more stir-fried entrees and soups/stews (including mala stews), multiple kinds of fried rice, cold noodles, pork jowl, mussel soup, and even silkworm pupae soup. Here's what five of us ordered: B Set ($69.99, 3-4 people) * Gop Chang - small intestine of cow * Dae Chang ("big innards") - large intestine of cow * Mak Chang ("last tripe") - upper lining of last stomach of cow * Tuek Yang - upper lining of first stomach of cow or "first intestine" * Yeomtong - cow heart * Pork Belly ($25.99) * Fish Cake Soup ($24.99) * Korean Potato Pancake ($19.99) * Korean Rice Wine ($14.99) - Kook Soon Dang Makgeolli * Cass Korean beer x2 ($5.99 each) I thought everything was tasty. The biggest difference I noticed between Hwangso and Fire is Hwangso served their large intestine pre-stuffed with garlic and green onion whereas Fire served theirs plain and flat. I prefer the Hwangso way. The other parts were similar in terms of quality (good) and the way they were presented and served. For example, the small intestine was presented and grilled as a spiral before being cut, with scissors, into bite-sized pieces. No gamey or funky flavors here. I thought everything was savory with appetizing textures. The Pork Belly was thick-cut, relatively lean, and yummy. Hwangso's banchan included steamed egg, pickled white onion, spicy pickled mung bean sprouts, daikon, and garlic chives. Condiments included misugaru (grain powder), sesame oil with salt, pepper, and minced garlic, and Korean soy sauce with bird's eye chili. There was also a spice shaker that was simply labeled "seasoning." I asked a server what it was. He said it was Hwangso's special seasoning mix and he wasn't able to tell us what was in it. The Fish Cake Soup and Potato Pancake complemented the gopchang well. Gopchang also goes well with alcohol. I recommend beer and Korean rice wine. Our server, Solmin, was wonderful. She was attentive and did a great job serving, cooking, and cutting our B Set and Pork Belly.

This is my second time here and me and my friends LOVED it. We came here on a Friday night around 7:30 And it was already a packed house. Lucky there was some seatings outside in their outdoor patio area that they do allow smoking. We ordered a few things and everything was good. We did combo B of gopchange which feeds 3/4 people but I think it could feed way more than 4 people. We also ordered the beef tartare which was ok. I thought it was weird that the slices of meats were served frozen. We waited for it to defrost a little before eating... after half way eating it, we realized we forgot to pour the sauce that came with it over the meat!!! ‍‍. The Spicy Seafood Squid Soup was definitely a big Hit!!! The brought was so flavor and spicy! But a good spice! The squid that came with the soup was cold which kinda of killed it being in a soup. Maybe it's just for looks on top but they shouldn't dipped it into hot water or something for it to be a little warm.

-staff was attentive and cooked for us -fried rice was good a little too cheesy for me -cold noodles were prob my fav thing there; they have the slushy ice in the broth -intestines were good; if u don't like intestines they have regular beef and pork bbq items

We visited on a Thursday night and ordered the B set($69.99) and two other sides. The B set had an assortment of different meat parts and they were all delicious except the gopchang, which was a little too thin for my liking. Also, the portion size wasn't that big. The menu says it's for 3-4 people but I would say it's more for three people with small to moderate appetites. Something I did enjoy was the banchan and the sauces-- the banchans( side dishes) were refreshing and the sauces complimented the meats really well. Overall, it's a place worth checking out if you like intestines.

Was super excited to finally try this place since I've heard so many people say this is the best place to get gopchang in ATL! I will say it was more expensive than I thought it would be. We got one of the Sets to share and it was enough for both of us (we were content, not super full though). They give you some sides to go with your meat, as well as a steamed egg and a variety of dips which I really liked (my favorite was the garlic and the spicy soy sauce). All of the "meats", from the stomach lining to the intestines were so good. They didn't taste gamey or "smelly" which was great. There were a lot of people around us ordering the extra things like alcohol, fried rice, soups, etc. Maybe next time we will try them but we didn't want to spend the extra money for it at the time. For dessert they have a free (limited to one per person) ice cream machine. The ice cream comes out SUPER slow though, so have the patience to get enough lol.

My go-to place for gopchang! Highly recommend the daechang here, absolute favorite and I usually get only this. It's so juicy and love the crispness. They used to provide it in the regular rolled form with a green onion in the middle, but they now serve it cut open flat. Definitely tasted better before but still worth getting when I have my cravings. They offer complimentary ice cream near the counter after the meal so don't miss out on that!

My favorite goto gopchang place! This place is literally the best of the best that I don't ever want to try anywhere else! I usually get daechang ( big intestine ) but this time I came here for a company dinner so we ordered the set A to try everything out. It came with ( gopchang, daechang , makchang , tuekyang and yumtong) in translation they have small intestine, big intestine, abomasum , first stomach of cow and beef heart. My favorite is the big intestine daechang so when ever me and my friend go we just order 4 daechang and fried rice! The quality here really fresh as well and is very clean! You also can get yourself a free ice-cream at the end near the cash register!

I dropped by for lunch this week and tried their Spicy Seafood Stew. If you like extremely spicy food, you have to try this stew! It set my mouth on fire but surprisingly, the entire dish was flavorful! The squids are massive, and the entree was enough for three people to consume. As usual, service here was great!

One of the best intestines places I've been to. I went 3 times in November with 4 different people. My friends and family really enjoyed the meal. Not gamey or smelly at all; good flavor. I love the sweet soy bean powdered that they sprinkled on the intestines/organs. I had to ask for a second serving of the powdered lol. The sides were good to help cut the fat and protein. My favorite was the chives (sweet, spicy, and vinegary). Private booths are nice.

Purely food based review: Set A ($60) - Amazing assortment of Gopchang & Daechang (small & large beef Intestines), linings & a heart. Would recommend for 2 people despite saying serves 3. They cook it all for you. Free banchan - includes steamed egg, onions, chives, spicy bean sprouts, and some sort of radish or rice wrap. Plus free ice cream machine after your meal! Really great authentic restaurant to try out this type of Korean cuisine. Would definitely come back for more juicy Daechang that melts in your mouth!

My absolute favorite gopchang joint in ATL. I always visit here and there is rarely a time I have a worse-than-great experience. I visited on a Thursday evening with a friend and we ordered the A set (which comes with a combination of gopchang, daechang, makchang, teukyeom and yeomtong). It serves 3 people but I usually always order it even when it's two because quite frankly, portions aren't the biggest. We also ordered two servings of the fried rice with cheese, which is always a great pair with the meats. The few things I like about this place over other gopchang places here in ATL: 1) They always spray this "magic" powder on top of the meat (which I speculate to be MSG but it enhances the flavor) 2) They have injeolmi powder, which is always a popular dipping sauce/powder for native Koreans. 3) Their daechang is round and very juicy (except there was one point when they switched out to the flat ones and I was quite disappointed) The servers cook the gopchang for you and let you know when it's done. They are also very attentive and are usually very kind. Lastly, I'm always impressed that they offer free soft serve ice cream as a small dessert before leaving. I lovr Hwangso and I will definitely be returning.

My partner and I came in around roughly 9:50-10pm. When we arrived we're were initially informed that we had to order soon because they were closing in 30 minutes and were understandings of that. Shortly after we were seated, (literally 1-2 minutes) about 3 employees came to our table letting us know we needed to order within the next few minutes. It was like 10:05. I tried asking one of the employee what the meat options were and was just interrupted by him being persistent in us ordering and did not really answer our questions, mainly because I noticed some of the meat options were pork and I do not consume pork for personal reasons. After submitting our order another employee came by with the check already without us asking insisting for us to pay before our food even came out. I was absolutely obsessed with the smell of this restaurant before I even went in! I appreciated them, giving us two grills, and the staff actually cook the meat for you. I wish I was sitting more towards the left grill because whoever cooked the pork belly on that side made sure the flame was hot enough and it cooked the pork thoroughly while also making it crispy on the outside. In front of me, the griller did not make the heat high enough so it took a while for the pork to be fully cooked. She told us it was done and it was still kind of chewy so I kept swapping back-and-forth from the left grill onto this one. That's the only reason why I gave it a four instead of a five out of five was because I did not like the way they cooked part of our pork. It was so chewy the fat was not cooked at all, but it was an easy fix. I just had to cook it longer on the other grill but again we shared two grills between eight people so 1/2 of our group got to eat more than us. I like how the pork doesn't have a really strong, pork smell, and it tasted very good like it was seasoned properly. I absolutely love the kimchi! I love how this restaurant stays open pretty late so we can enjoy eating and drinking. It's such a nice casual place to hang out. For dessert, we had kimchi fried rice haha. I told the server it was her first time and he was eager to explain everything to her. When he got to the scallion salad, she was just not loving it, but he told her to at least try and see what she thinks (don't knock it til you try it!) Then he said they're still getting the charcoal ready so it'll be a few more minutes and my friend's eyes just (like what?) So we start with trying a bite of all the sides. What a great idea!! Started with brisket and ribeye and wow ... meats were fresh, paired with the sides, and the dipping sauces, it's just chef's kiss!! We then had bulgogi and pork belly and those were just bursting with flavor! The cheesy corn was good but burned too fast on the grill, the spicy bean sprouts are amazing, and the steam egg is my favorite . The only downside is that if you don't eat those sides that are cooking on the grill right away they'll turn dry and burned and it won't be as good. The cheesy corn also caused some splattering to our hands when we were cooking the meats. The server apologized for the oil splattering since he heard the squeal immediately soak up the oil from the cheesy corn so the splattering would stop. Overall, my friend gave it 10/10!!!
