I Luv Hot Pot is a fun place. I have wanted to visit this restaurant for several years now and finally got around to it. The food is tasty. The ambiance is spectacular, the restaurant is decorated in a fun, inviting way, with led lighting, the revolving items bar, and fun chandeliers. The service is good, as the servers only need to bring your drinks and you can request rice from them if you want it, as it is not a revolving item. Each person at the table chooses a hotpot broth. Each person pays around $5 for the hotpot broth. Each item that you add to the hotpot is on the revolving conveyor belt. There are tons of choices. Each plate you take from the conveyor belt has a price, ranging from $3 - $10. There are soooo many options of items to choose from and this is one of my favorite things about this place. There are about 5 different types of noodles to choose from, like egg noodles, udon, ramen, rice vermicelli, etc., there is tons of veggies from bok choy, broccoli, bean sprouts, sweet potatoes, watercress, etc. and the protein choices are outstanding! Some of the offered proteins are eggs, tofu, thin sliced, chicken, several pork options, several beef options, shrimp, tiger prawns, snow crab, escargot and lobster. And I know it seems like I have listed a good bit of choices from the conveyor belt, but I promise there is many more options than I listed, they also offer things like potstickers / dumplings, etc. Most of the items are $3, especially the noodles, veggies, dumplings, some proteins, etc. and the options go up in price a few dollars depending on meat choice. The $10 items are the lobster, tiger prawns & snow crab. I know you may think, the cost is really adding up here, but you get your moneys worth, because each plate you take from the conveyor belt, has so much on it. You definitely want to take friends and share each plate with them. The plates are made for sharing, as the quantity on them is really great. The vegetables and meat all seemed very fresh as well, which made me very happy. There is also a sauce bar of course where you can create your own hotpot dipping sauce. The selection on the sauce bar is pretty good. I will also say the food was very delicious! The atmosphere was very fun. The price ended up being around $45 a person as we tried a lot of items and split the total bill 3 ways. So this is no more and maybe a little less than we spend at most hotpot restaurants that are AYCE. One added bonus is that we were all stuffed and we still had a good bit of food left. And unlike AYCE spots, the waiter came to the table to bring us to-go bowls and to-go boxes and you can take all of your leftovers with you! So I am sure you are thinking, why is this girl only rating this place 3 stars when this review sounds like the place is outstanding! And yes, the food, selection of choices, taste of the food, the cost, etc. is all great! The reason for my 3 star review is that my one big turn off is that the restaurant is not that clean. The floor from the door, to the table, to the bathrooms, is oily and slippery feeling. The plates & silverware, etc. was not very clean, there was food particles on several of our plates and we had to get new ones or thoroughly wipe them down ourselves. Several of the bowls we got from the sauce bar, also were not clean. This was a huge disappointment. We really loved this place, but it was very hard to get over the lack of cleanliness. I would love to go back to this restaurant many time, but it's something I will have to think about, just because all of us at our table was a bit turned off by the lack of cleanliness. This is one of my husbands favorite places for pho because he gets to build his own. We've never had to wait to get seated unless we have a big group. Once you're seated in a booth next to the conveyor belt the server will take your broth and drink order. You can grab your sauces from the sauce bar while you're waiting for your broth. They provide a great variety of pho ingredients that you can choose from. Each colored plate represents a different price. The service was ok. The hotpot concept here is pretty interesting: various meat and produce come down a conveyor belt and the prices are determined by their color-coded plates. My Thai broth was more on the sweet side than spicy and according to my partner, the beef broth was lacking flavor. We tried the cabbage, lobster balls, king mushrooms, tofu skin, scallops, sushi, lobster, and an array of beef items. My favorite were the scallops, king mushrooms, and cabbage. If I were to visit again, I'd avoid the lobster balls, tofu skin, and lobster. To be honest, adding lobster to your hotpot is a terrible idea! I personally thought the toppings were way overpriced (e.g. $3 for less than 10 small cabbage pieces). Our check turned out to be $120 for two people (kinda crazy since we are both small people and yet we were still hungry afterwards). While the experience was interesting, I was turned off by the lack of covid precautions. Gloves aren't provided at the sauce bar and everyone is using the same utensils (FYI: unlike other hotspot places, I Luv Hotpot doesn't give recommendations on how to combine some of the sauces - all four of ours turned out awful). It was bookmarked, so we came....even after reading some not so hot reviews-some pretty recent too. I'm kinda mixed on roaches....I hate seeing them in my places to eat and even near the front doors, but I also understand that we live in the South and they are REALLY hard to get and maintain control of. Especially having multiple water and food sources in a strip mall setting. I also get that roaches are one of worlds cleaner upper's-they come through and finish the job after we are done..or in some cases still actively eating. They are also harty bugs and will inherit the earth one day. With all that said, if you have ever traveled abroad....bugs are on/in EVERYTHING in open air markets, hawker stalls, street vendors, food trucks...even on the menus as food. Can they do a better job of mitigating them-yes. Are they still going to be around even after spraying/treating for them-yes. Moving on! We enjoyed our meal here and had a roach free evening to boot. We both ordered the Thai broth, which was mild but had a little sweet/sour hint. Everything we had was fresh and of decent quality. Their meat selection is a little on the lean side, but I thought it was pretty comparable to other places. I think they had the same if not slightly more options on the conveyor, when compared with other places we have tried before. I love the sauce and extras bar, this is such a great concept. I like being able to mix and match sauces and adjust the taste of my broth as I go. I also like the ability to get a couple of little cups to dip my various meats/veggies into, as a way to break up the flavor profiles so it doesn't all taste the same. I feel the prices are on par with most of the other places in the area, so I didn't feel like we got cheated out of anything or that we didn't get what we paid for...if you come with a crowd, I can see the plates/pricing add up quickly...especially if your table get heavy handed with the seafood options like lobster tail or prawns. This was a Sunday night dinner 6pm rush during a pandemic. I wasn't expecting it to be so packed! It was my first time here and it's been a while seeing a restaurant booming. Almost all the tables were filled, so not much social distancing here. Masks are required here. All the staff wore gloves and masks. There's hand sanitizer available. The tables weren't 100% clean since there was still a bit of food debris left. The interior decor was beautiful and eye catching. To pretty much sum up this place, it's a hot pot place where everything except the broth and sauces, are on a conveyor belt. You choose the type of broth you'd like. I chose the beef flavor which is $3. It pretty much is like the beef pho broth from I Luv Pho. Then, the ingredients that you'd like to put in your broth can be picked up on the revolving conveyor belt. Helpful tip: grab it when you see it or it will be a while till it comes back around! The belt does go by pretty quick so always keep an eye on the plate. Also don't be afraid to reach across to the other side of the conveyor belt. It's a jungle out there to survive. The way they charge you is by plate color prices and broth flavor. On the paper menu, it tells you which color is what price. I believe white plates are $2, blue plates $3, etc. I attached a picture of the current menu. Also they have a sauce bar, which is so it yourself. I recommend the Hoisin sauce with green onions. It has a nice flavor for some reason. Service here is kinda hectic. You've got servers going back and forth cleaning tables, bringing out broth, bringing out bottles of water and drinks. Even when I first got there I had at least 4 different servers ask me how many people were in my group as I stood at the front to wait for a table. In terms of handing their business during COVID-19, I think they could've done better. There was barely any space to stand around tables. And no extra seating between parties. They do require patrons to wear masks though. Overall, the experience was decent once you know what you're up against. The server only came by twice. They have lots of yummy options to add to your broth like noodles, sea food, chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, they also have fruit and deserts on the belt for you to try. Sushi rolls and other dishes are also options if you don't want to try the hotpot but I really recommend it. TL;DR (short) version: There were cockroaches at our table. I Luv Hot Pot has been in the Duluth-Norcross area since late 2013. The business differentiates itself from the hot pot competition by offering conveyor belt hot pot. Plates of food you'd normally order from a menu instead rotate on a long tableside conveyor belt system throughout the dining room. Just like conveyor belt sushi, you grab what you want and your total bill is tallied at the end of your meal based on the plates you've selected. The place is spacious with a very distinct, showy interior, like something you'd have seen in Vegas. When we arrived for dinner just before 7pm this past Friday night, the conveyor belt system was broken. This was disappointing because the main reason we chose to eat at this restaurant was because of the novelty of the conveyor belt. There's currently no other hot pot restaurant in metro Atlanta like it that I know of. We were handed paper menu forms, similar to a sushi restaurant, with a list of hot pot ingredients that we could mark up. We wrote down how much of each ingredient we wanted. Two things: (1) The pricing on the paper menu was outdated. (2) They didn't get our orders correct. On my menu, I requested one serving each of fishcake, Malabar spinach, chrysanthemum leaves, lotus root, and seaweed. None of those items arrived. Instead of Malabar spinach, I received regular spinach. The staff, while nice (our primary server seemed quite friendly), appeared unorganized and I don't think they were used to filling orders from the paper menus. Here was the pricing during our visit: * Broth ($3) - Thai, beef, chicken, vegetarian, and kimchi * White plate ($1.50) - e.g. noodles, mushrooms, eggs, corn * Blue plate ($2.50) - e.g. mussels, fish tofu, fish balls * Yellow plate ($3.50) - e.g. most meats, some seafood * Pink plate ($4.50) - e.g. tenderloin, lamb, salmon, clams * Red plate ($5.50) - e.g. lobster, snow crab, shrimp, scallops There were three of us and we ordered three different broths: Thai, vegetarian, and kimchi. All of the broths were tasty. The Thai broth had a noticeable lemongrass flavor to it. For ingredients, we ordered all sorts of stuff including fish balls, oyster mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, egg noodles, glass noodles, tendon, brisket, fatty brisket, tripe, meatballs, napa cabbage, regular spinach (again, should've been Malabar spinach), bok choy, watercress, eggs, and corn on the cob. Eventually, the staff was able to get the conveyor belt working, but it was a little herky-jerky; not smooth. We grabbed taro and rau muong (water spinach, ong choy) off the belt. I was pleasantly surprised to see the rau muong. It's one of my favorite vegetables and this was the first time I can recall seeing it offered at a hot pot restaurant. All of the plates were covered with clear tops. Our plate of eggs had a gnat flying around inside. Some of the tops on the belt looked dirty, like a top had been covering one ingredient and then switched over to a different ingredient without being cleaned. On the belt, many items were mislabeled. As for the food itself, I thought it was good. Everything seemed to be satisfactorily fresh, including both the veggies and the meats. I thought the fatty brisket was delicious. The portion sizes were generous too, particularly with the tendon, tripe, and mushrooms. The fish balls were yummy. The menu didn't specify this, but they were filled with I believe a marinated pork filling. The sauce bar, which is essential to enjoying hot pot, was well-stocked with a nice assortment of sauces and additions like chopped green onion, cilantro, garlic, and even Thai chili peppers. We were originally seated at a four-person booth and were told that one of the booth's four stoves was broken. However, it turned out that at least one more stove was broken because one of my friend's hot pots wasn't heating to a vigorous boil like my hot pot nor our other friend's hot pot. We were moved to a six-person booth. This booth also had a broken stove, but there were enough working stoves for the three of us to be able to eat. As for the aforementioned roaches, they were hanging out in between our table and the conveyor belt. They slipped into and out of the crack where the wiring for the stove controls were located. The table immediately below the stove controls wasn't very clean. We saw at least three different roaches crawling around including adults and one baby. This really freaked out one of my friends and she lost her appetite. I eventually lost mine as well. My friend demanded to speak to a manager and we were told there wasn't one on duty. We thought that was odd since it was a Friday night. After asking repeatedly, eventually a "general manager" named Cindy came to see us. Cindy apologized to us and comped our meal. She also walked us over to her office where she gave each of us a $10 gift card, good at I Luv Hot Pot or I Luv Bowling (the attached bowling alley). read more

I've always wanted to try Hot Pot but unfortunately there aren't any places located near me. So I had to venture out to Duluth! I'm not sure of the normal concept for hot pot but with this location you order your broth and then they have an array of meats and veggies that come down a conveyer belt on a color coded plate by your table. I was able to try the clams, beef, fish balls, Napa cabbage, ramen noodle, shrimp, and salmon. All options were good! It was cool and different! They also have a station where you can conjure up different sauces like soy sauce, fermented tofu, oyster sauce, garlic, chili oil, and more. At the end when you are ready for your tab, they calculate your color coded plates. I'd love to go back! Now as far a service goes...our servers weren't horrible or anything...just indifferent. If you are extremely cautious when it comes to Covid, I'm not sure this would be a place for you. The food items that come past your table on the conveyer belt are completely covered BUT it does pass by numerous tables on its way to you. And there's no guarantee that someone hasn't touched the items that past by you. There are signs that instruct you not to place and plates back onto the belt. read more

Sometimes the beef options are an ok option but there are better cuts of meat - for a hotpot place, it's nice to have flexibility of what to order and not be stuck with expensive combination meals like some of the other hotspots places - the Thai and beef broths are favorites. The Thai broth is more sweet than spicy but has great flavor dimension. Other notes - The service could be a bit more friendly. However, With hot pot being a self service experience, does the customer service matter as much? It's mostly a bonus if it's nicer. - the broth refill can be slow (about 15min) if it's a busy time so it's just a good idea to order your refill before it gets too low. Rarely will someone stop by when it's busy and buzzing. Overall, I will more than likely return as the experience is incredible every time. I always feel bad not giving more stars but this place was not it for me. A friend had wanted to check this place out and thankfully and a pros is that it stays open late. You sit in a booth next to a conveyor belt where you would grab what you want to put into your broth. There are I think like 4 or 5 broth options but from the 2 we tried, they were so bland. There is a bar of condiments you can grab items from and we flavored it from there but even then, it was just ok. My friend and I were hungry so we just started grabbing even though we knew it was a lot, we figured we'd have leftovers for next day's lunch. One of the employees made it a point to let us know we were grabbing a lot of food and to make sure we didn't put anything back. He looked very disturbed by us, lol. Apart from his "nice" remark, service was none existing. Not all the items felt fresh, a lot felt like they were slightly frozen.
