We were staying about an hour away towards country side of Georgia, and were heading towards Atlanta airport and needed some Asian comfort food like some soup of some sort. I found there were so many Asian food in Duluth so I figured hmm it's easier to find good Asian food in this area. We found Com Ga because I love viet food and they had the traditional dishes we loved. It was weird late lunch hour so it was quiet. There was a young girl working and she was so cute and so friendly. I ordered the hu tieu soup with white meat and my bf ordered the same thing but with egg noodles and both dark and white meat. If ever you need a hot soup fix after eating all the delicious southern food Atlanta has to offer , this is the place. Stopped here before our flight back home to California and we needed our Asian food fix. Something light and comforting, we went with the noodle soup. Their chicken egg noodle soup (Mi Ga' ) hit the spot . It was served piping hot and full of flavor. Simple and good. We came in a Saturday around 3:30 ish and the place was empty. The dining area is well decorated and very clean and our server as close by in case we needed any condiments. They do not serve Red rooster sriracha sauce but another brand Fyi for the hot sauce snobs. Their bahn khot appetizer was delicious and between 2 people is a lot . Been here so many times but this is my first time reviewing their food. Chicken is one of my favorite meat, so to eat at a restaurant that focuses on chicken is my dream comes true. My go to order would be Miến Gà (chicken vermicelli) if I crave for noodle soup, since the broth is much lighter and the vermicelli texture is chewier than Phở. Their chicken is tender and goes well with ginger fish sauce. Staff are helpful and attentive. Only take off 1 star because the chicken itself was mild in taste. Really delicious. I always get the congee. My sister got the udon noodles. The congee is really good and a great portion of meat and rice for $14-$19. It's a delicious hearty meal, always hot and fresh although the chicken comes cold. The inside is spacious with lots of seating and nice decorations about Vietnam. It's a small counter restaurant in Duluth. This place has a limited menu with only chicken dishes (rice, noodles, etc) and some duck. There are no appetizers, so not a large menu. The pho that we did have, the broth was decent enough but it wasn't as flavorful as I would have preferred. The banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe) was larger than we expected and quite good. Great for chicken rice or noodles, and equally good to-go or dine-in. Often with Asian food, the quality is better dining in than take out. Not here! I've always had a good experience. I've called in advance and have also ordered in person and it's always fast. I live about 15 minutes away and when I get home it's still hot when I order the noodles. The chicken rice isn't supposed to be hot- so if you order that to go- don't expect it to be super hot. I'm sharing this only because my husband who is American thought it was not freshly cooked until I explained it to him. I love the Com Ga here because it's the closest I can get to Hainanese chicken rice in the area, which is one of my favorite things to eat. My only wish is that they would include a sauce for the rice. I know it's not traditional for this Vietnamese dish, but it makes it so much better when the chicken rice has a sauce. No matter though- I always have some in the fridge. I have tried many noodle combinations here and really they're pretty similar just with different types of noodles. Came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch during their peek hours on a time crunch and I was impressed. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. I already knew what I wanted to order before came. Server was very busy but he sat us down and took our orders right away. He apologized for the wait and could tell I was on my lunch break and offered to push our orders to the top to get us in and out. Definitely a nice and good place for lunch or dinner. The chicken pho was delicious. I'm using not a big fan of Vietnamese pho as most of them all have strong packaging spices. I enjoyed the food and service at Com Ga Houston (four stars, good). My friend didn't like it as much as me (three stars, OK). So, I guess the 3.5-star average rating for this place, at the time of writing this review, is about right. Personally, I like this place and recommend it if you're a fan of "authentic" Vietnamese cuisine. "Com ga" is Vietnamese for chicken rice, a Vietnamese comfort food dish. This restaurant also specializes in a variety of Vietnamese noodle soups - not just pho, but banh canh (thick, udon-like noodles), mien (clear or glass noodles), hu tieu (rice noodles, traditionally served for breakfast, but I've only had them for lunch or dinner; this place isn't open for breakfast anyway), bun mang ("bamboo shoot" vermicelli noodles), and mi (egg noodles) - as well as chao (congee or porridge), goi (Vietnamese salads), and special dishes like whole chicken and duck. In general, I think the dishes served here are commonly served inside Vietnamese immigrant/Vietnamese American homes. Family-style food. It opened on February 2, 2022 in the same new strip mall as 4.0 Ice Cream & Drinks and Beard Papa's Duluth locations and Steami's Lobster on Steve Reynolds Blvd, close to I-85 exit 103. After decades of dining out in Gwinnett County, this was my first time visiting this shopping center. These buildings were still under construction in 2021. I think Com Ga Houston was one of the first businesses to open here. Com Ga Houston has the same owner, Khoa Do, as the old Blazin Cajun Seafood Restaurant on Satellite Blvd: https://bit.ly/3V7aLzW. My friend made the funny, but true, observation that Com Ga Houston has "the same dozen ingredients, but prepared differently." Yep, there are numerous dishes on the menu, but many of the ingredients are the same. They mix & match and add & subtract as necessary, whether it's on a plate of rice or in a bowl of noodle soup. One thing the menu lacked were true appetizers or sides. We found that kind of odd. Both the rice and noodles were delicious and I can't say I preferred one over the other. The two noodle bowls were very similar with the main difference being the type of noodle used. I put "Bamboo Shoot" in quotes above because that's just how the restaurant describes them. To be clear, they are rice vermicelli noodles served *with* bamboo shoots, not noodles made out of bamboo shoots. I found all of the ingredients to be fresh and good quality, from the noodles themselves (satisfying, ideal textures) to the raw veggies on the side. The chicken was tender, appetizing, and plentiful and the broth was subtly well-rounded, complex, and gratifying. Com Ga Houston has a modern dining room with a casual ambiance. Like most Vietnamese restaurants, especially pho houses, there are eating utensils, napkins, and condiments at every table. Com Ga Houston offered both disposable and non-disposable chopsticks. Soup spoons were disposable only which meant they were the cheap, plastic, flimsy kind. All eating utensils were individually wrapped. I appreciated the above-average selection of condiments which included more unique items like Knorr Liquid Seasoning and muoi tieu (Vietnamese lemon pepper salt). We visited on an ordinary Thursday for dinner and it wasn't busy. Ngan was our server and she was excellent, as was the young Asian dude with glasses who was helping her. The portion of chicken was generous and proportional, even for a big eater like myself. The broth was also aromatic. However, some dishes (especially the signature Com Ga) at my table were served with cold chicken and there were even some comments questioning the freshness of the chicken. Ambience: The restaurant was spacious and clean. There was certainly some effort put into the interior design. I like the basket-style light fixtures combined with the many indoor house plants. Several red flags for me but still stayed to the end, lol. It may be that this kind of food is just not something that appeals to me. First, the smell inside was very peculiar - I wondered if it may be something like stinky tofu but when I asked the server, he said it was the chicken. The price is super reasonable since the portion is huge. My favorite is Miến Măng Gà Gỏi Bắp Cải (Clear noodles with chicken soup serve with cabbage salad). The soup is flavorful and filled with bamboo shoots and pork blood. Add the fish sauce to the cabbage salad to eat with the soup. Everything blends so well together. Another dish I ordered is Bánh Khọt (Mini Vietnamese Rice Pancakes) with salad and fish sauce. Use the lettuce as a wrap to add rice pancakes, mint, and dipped it into the fish sauce. The sweetness of the pancakes and saltiness of the fish sauce combine together make the dish delectable. I usually don't prefer coconut milk to my rice pancakes, but it's still delicious to share with family and friends. I really enjoyed the experience and the restaurant has a huge menu to select from. This was my first time trying a place that serves mainly chicken broth Vietnamese noodle soups but it did not disappoint! I loved the broth for all of the noodle soups, it's clean and flavorful, very much healing to the soul. Most of the noodle soups have the same base, just different noodles (rice noodle, egg noodle, Vietnamese udon). I tried the Vietnamese udon and it was interesting, but probably not something I would personally get since it was more like sliced noodles. I also loved the dipping sauce each bowl comes with that goes perfectly with the chicken. The inside is spacious and clean as well with fast service. This is authentic Vietnamese cuisine -- bones in the duck, boiled chicken, pork blood cubes. The bathroom needed some extra attention, but I guess with it being lunch rush hour, it got neglected. The food was great! Super flavorful. I ordered a clear noodle with dark meat and bamboo shoots. My friend ordered a rice dish with mixed chicken pieces. It came with a small salad and soup. The portion size for the chicken rice dish wasn't enough for the price.
