We came here around 5 pm when they opened for their dinner service. It's in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. When we came, there was one other family there besides me and my girlfriend so it was actually not busy at all. Someone points us to a table and brings us menus at the table we sat at. When they take your order, they bring you disposable gloves, napkins, and plates to go to the salad bar (dine in only). For food, we got kimchi for a side, pretty good tasting kimchi. We got fries as well, just normal crinkle cut fries, nothing too special but is a good side dish. We got the combination chicken, pretty sure it's a mix of sweet sauce, soy sauce, honey, and original. Don't know if I'm completely correct but I'm guessing. Overall they were all so good, huge pieces of chicken by the way. The place is pretty average for the size and when it gets busy I could see how the wait times could be pretty heavy. You can also get stuff from the salad bar after they give you paper plates. After we ordered it took about 5-10 mins to get our food. They give you disposable gloves as well. Honey garlic chicken: 2/5, The chicken wasn't super crunchy. They also give a mix of drum sticks and chicken wings. Their sauce didn't have a strong garlic flavor. It just tasted sweet. I also wish there was more sauce. Korean sauce chicken: 2/5, the waitress described the flavor to be similar to gochujang. We got mild so it wasn't spicy at all. It had a slight sweetness. The overall flavor was just okay but it wasn't my favorite. These wings had more sauce but the wings were not crispy. Not sure if I'll be back. Sadly the ambiance feels like a shell of what it was. A while ago they made the change from their regular plates to paper plates. The most recent change is that rice is no longer included when dining in. It is $3 per bowl instead of self serve. But the ownership has changed, the vibe has changed, the prices and policies have changed... so a review update is long overdue. I know everything is more expensive now than 15 years ago, but it really felt like we were getting nickel-and-dimed here. Want rice with your chicken? $3 per serving. Need a takeout box for leftovers? 75 cents each. Repeated reminders not to waste the free salad... and don't even think about taking any to go. That's aside from prices doubling over the years... $29-32 for 10 pieces now, where it used to be $13-15 for the same. (I know, I know, inflation.) The salad dressing has been swapped out. It used to be an awesome miso dressing, now it's a similar-looking but very different peanut dressing. I don't remember the original fried chicken being so bland. Like completely unseasoned bland. I know they have the salt and pepper shaker, but the chicken has absolutely no flavor on its own. I guess it's fine? But again, now there's other nearby spots like bb.q and Vons that do it better. Hence, restaurant at half capacity on a Saturday at dinner time. I guess that's one silver lining, there used to be a wait for tables here. Glad we tried it again, but no need to ever return. Chicken 8/10--crispy but the texture felt a tiny bit off for some reason. If you're unsure what to get, honey garlic is a classic. The spicy Korean sauce has gochujang in it so it has a bit of a kick. Rice 11/10--maybe it was scooping it directly from the rice cooker or the large batch cooked, but this was the BEST rice I've ever had. Rice at home never tastes as good. Each meal offered consists of 10pc chicken and you decide on what sauce(s) you'd like. There are 6 sauces available on top of the original [naked]: Spicy, Sauce, Honey, Honey Garlic, Soy Sauce, & Korean. Additional 5pc orders are available for an additional cost. If you are indecisive like myself or would prefer an assortment of flavors, order #5 or 8 is the way to go. Lunch for us 2 adults, 1 toddler ended up being the Combination Chicken. Between our 10pc chicken we are given 4 different sauces [one being naked]. Food: The chicken is served fresh and oh so very HOT! Every piece was thoroughly cooked- still very moist inside and contained a nice crunch at its exterior. The original [naked] could have used some flavoring [or maybe some ketchup!!] and the spicy sauce vs sauce tasted the same without any bit of heat. Honey was my favorite of the 4 variations provided in the combination. Salad bar isn't anything overly exciting but you can't beat that FREE.99 cost. Pickled radish cubes are the only things I ate but there are leafy greens, broccoli, and jalapeños provided. New owners and a renovated restaurant! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years when we're in the area and during our last visit, we were surprised to see a newly renovated space! Gone are the old polaroids from old patrons, which is what made this place very mom-and-pop. When we asked one of the employees what they did to the old photos, they mentioned that they digitized all the photos and put them up on a digital picture frame. The renovated space is refreshed, modern, and clean but the chicken remains tried and true. In addition to the price increase (not surprised) and new space, there are some new menu items: fried chicken sandwich and two new sauces for their chicken - Korean Sauce and Honey Garlic. We didn't order the sandwiches, but if you wanna try, you can order a regular fried chicken sandwich, a spicy one, or a sauced one. We did, however, try the new Honey Garlic chicken.
