I've heard great things about 985 and have been meaning to try it for a long time. I finally came recently with my family (party of 8 adults & 1 child). We were expecting to eat AYCE, but apparently there is a cut off time for AYCE, and we weren't able to order AYCE which was disappointing. I believe we came right before 8PM, and they closed at 10PM so I was surprised when we were told AYCE wasn't available. But no big deal, we chose to stay and dine anyways, and we're glad we did! We mostly ordered the marinated galbi which was a favorite among most of us. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what other meats we ordered because we basically asked the server which meats were the popular ones and asked for those. I do know one of our meats was beef brisket, which is usually one of our favorites, but I wasn't impressed with their brisket. But that might just be because their other meats were so good that they overshadowed the brisket. We could definitely tell that the meat is higher quality here, and they marinate well that you really don't even need to dip them in any sauce. In addition, they offer plenty of banchan and are great about refilling it as you empty even without being asked. I love the cheese corn, egg, and bean sprouts around the grill. I'm not sure if this is always the case or if we had a really great server, but we didn't have to worry about cooking, flipping, or cutting the meat at all. Our server took care of everything our entire dinner. He was very attentive and kept offering us other dishes to try. At the end of our dinner, he even packed up the bones from our meat to go for us because we jokingly asked for it not actually expecting that we'd be allowed to take it.

Service may be a bit sluggish compared to some other bbq restaurants but it is inconsistent. Sometimes the servers are super attentive and quick to take your order and provide side dishes and water... then other times you wait and wait after requesting items. It is a very large Korean bbq restaurant. I do like that it never gets smoky in here even though everyone is eating Korean bbq... excellent ventilation. It is on the more pricier side but the meat quality is good. There are some side dishes you must request because they are cutting down on waste so will not voluntarily provide it to you at the beginning of service.

Finally visited 985 KBBQ in Buford. I've heard very good things about this place and how good the service and meat quality is here. It did not disappoint! For the month of January 2024 they lowered their AYCE prices to $29.99 instead of $40.99. Definitely an amazing deal considering how much better the quality is from other places around. The servings per round are a lot bigger as well. My favorite things from the AYCE menu were the Marinated Pork Neck and Short Ribs. Sooo so good!! The sides are really good too. Rice, Japchae, Cheese Corn, Kimchi! They got it all. No rice cakes though. The cocktails are very delicious and balanced when it comes to the strength and sweetness of the drinks. Plus 50% off Mon-Fri. The place inside is super spacious. Doesn't feel crowded at all and they have a great grill system with extractors so you don't leave smelling like straight smoke. Our server Emily was super attentive. Cooked all of our meats pretty much while having like 3 more tables. Explained the menu and gave recommendations which made the experience more enjoyable. Totally recommend this place and will probably do a Combo next time for better cuts of meat. ESPAÑOL Finalmente visité 985 KBBQ en Buford. He oído cosas muy buenas sobre este lugar y lo bueno que es el servicio y la calidad de la carne. No decepcionó!

First timer and will go back if I'm in the area for dinner. Very low stress as the waiter cooks the food for you at lunch. I know of places where you have to cook your own. Be prepared to eat and eat. All of the side dishes to eat with the protein are great. Highly recommend using the radish like a taco and stuff it with sides and mear. Also recommend the kimchi fried rice.

First time at this Korean BBQ. The place was large and well lit. Our server was very helpful and fast with refilling our sides. We had 3 people so we ordered the beef combo for 2 and then added one more set of meat. It was more than enough food. The sides are unlimited and you can ask for rice at no extra charge. They do bring kimchi rice at the end of your meal. (Yummy but is a little spicy) the meat was all high quality! We will definitely be back!

Pretty much similar to other numbered kbbq places lol like 9292, 678, or 770. You've been to one, you've been to all of them, and that's not a bad thing either. Kbbq is all about meat quality and options along with what Korean side dishes are included and 985 has a lot of those options. The restaurant is where the old Golden Corral used to be off of the 985 interstate highway. They use pull down smoke ventilation so you won't be overwhelmed by smoke like at some other kbbq places that have vents that are not adjustable and just sit above the table. You can see my photos to get a general idea of what they have to offer. Overall though the meat quality was good and the combo offers good amount so you don't need to go for the AYCE option. If you're a fan of kbbq and are in the Buford / North GA area, it's definitely worth checking out as they've been needing a good kbbq spot in this area for a while now.

Still good but i think they went a lil skimpy on the meat recently, compared with initial visits. Also, ambiance is good and table set up is good for 4-5 people but when you have more than that, one grill just isnt enough. I wish they had more double grill set up for 6+ parties.

I've been to a lot of Kbbq spots and this one is one of my favorites. All the staff are very nice and attentive. Mila was an awesome server. They also have a cute robot that brings beverages and plays music. The place just opened and it is spotless, love how the tables are spread apart and you have more room. It doesn't feel cramped and it's super loud. Nice bar area and full bar as well. The food was great and I loved all the sides. If you want more of one side theyll bring it. The big thing here I like is they allow you to take your left overs home bc it is not all you can eat! Just this alone will bring me back here. I never understood why I couldn't bring my food home when it wasn't all you can eat and I paid for it. I also found out that they will be doing bimimbap soon! They don't accept reservations and plenty of parking. Definitely will be back!

This place is really reallly good. I'm visiting from New Jersey/New York and this is better than 99% than all of them. Also the service was amazing for us. Waiter named Jin. Man is a professional. These other bad reviews are BS. the food and service is bomb

985 BBQ is another number chain Korean BBQ restaurant to the metropolitan area and a very welcome edition. This restaurant sits off the entrance to 985 hence the name. Upon entering the service is good as there will be a hostess/host that immediately addresses each customer and answer any questions. I've gone here for both unlimited and gotten the sets, but the sets are 100% better if you don't mind the amount of meat. The sets are a higher quality meat and the hosts will cook every meat for you and check in every few minutes if they're not super busy. The set for 2 and sets for 4 I would recommend, but any group more than 4 people it might not be enough food. The only complaint I've had is the set for 6 felt similar to the amount as the 4 set and was pricier than the AYCE. The sides are standard for any KBBQ restaurant. The service can be questionable and hard to reach some days depending on how busy they are, it has varied from experience to experience so YMMV.

Huge sitting area and more private food area on the side if you want more private corner for your party

"There's something magical about rooftops. You feel like you're in 'Mary Poppins."…read moreGeorge Clarke There really is something special about being on a rooftop on a perfect summer evening, and it's great to have it right in downtown Sugar Hill. I would like to say I planned the perfect date, but as some of the best things in life, this was just an impromptu visit to cap off an already great evening. Outside of being on the rooftop, the bar itself is upscale yet approachable, service was fast and friendly. Being a bit of a self engrandized home bartender I'm a bit critical when out of my home lab, but their Smoked Old Fashioned wasn't bad. ("Wasn't bad" really means very good.") While I don't love the prices and hate paying a cover charge, when you throw in live music, a great vibe, and a view, I can't really complain. The owner made an announcement that whoever tipped the band $10 would get a free drink, and since most drinks were over $15 I thought that was cool on many levels. Will definitely be back to The Rooftop!

We walked around and finally ran into a waitress who told us to sit anywhere we wished inside or outside. The only area festive was inside a closed igloo and no heaters were on outdoors which was just a tad too cool for me despite the super nice weather that day. It would have been so to sit outside but without the warmth of the heaters we headed inside. We placed our order and explained we were just there for a pre-dinner drink and wanted to check out the venue so we didn't leave our tab open but we were quickly served the fabulous taking drinks on their menu(s). The Old Fashioned was on the regular menu and the Russian was on their seasonal tabletop menu. Server was very nice and took photos for some ladies we met. The only reason I can't give them a 5 star is they claim they are big on hospitality but yet we were not acknowledged upon arrival. Many restaurants and even some retail stores have a way to ensure they say hello/welcome immediately when you enter and without a hostess - the mindset should be that the bar or wait staff have a way to immediately say hello or welcome so those who have never been feel welcomed as well as those who frequently come. It would be nice to have a more festive decor for the holidays but that didn't affect my review; just a statement to say that the entire Sugar Hill area was pumping and themed with the holiday spirit then we walked in the only area decorated was not even accessible nor was it offered as an option to enjoy.

A great hangout spot, but behind the scenes is really sketchy and raised a lot of red flags…read more I went here about three weeks ago looking for a job. The manager (or, I'm assuming he was a manager, because he never said he was or was not) named Chef was the person I spoke to about being hired. He told me to come back for a shadowing session on Monday to see if I was a good fit. He told me to text him to confirm the date the weekend before, and when I texted him on Saturday, as we had talked about, I received no response. I texted him again several times on Sunday, and got nothing back until late that evening, less than 24 hours from the shift we had talked about, asking if we could do it Tuesday instead. I agreed and returned the following day. Right off the bat, it was weird; he never took down any information from me aside from my name and phone number, and showed me how to clock in and then told me to go right to the woman at the bar to look over the menu. He didn't tell me anything about pay, hours, a resume, experience, tasks, or even offer me a tour of the place, which I thought was odd. For reference, my boyfriend and I have both had a lot of experience managing and owning businesses, so we understand the process, and he backed me up on this when I brought it up to him. About 30 minutes into my shift, they ended up mentioning that their host never showed up, and I told them that I had experience and if they gave me a quick training talk, I'd learn it quickly. They put me up front, but didn't give me any instructions or check in with me the entire time, while I sat up there. About halfway through my shift, the woman at the bar called me back and asked me to go to Walmart and pick up some ingredients for them with some cash she offered me. I thought it was a bit strange, especially since they didn't have any information on me yet, but I agreed. I returned and continued my shift, and still nobody checked in with me the entire four hours. Well, eventually 10 o'clock rolled around (the time we'd agreed I would stop), and yet nobody showed any signs of coming up to tap me out. And then 10:30 came, and I ended up walking up to Chef, and a gentleman I assumed was another manager, and later realized may have actually been the owner, and he was at the bar smoking a hookah and drinking while still on shift. I asked him if they were trying to get me to stay till 11 or something, or if I misunderstood the time, but before I could tell him that I needed to leave soon because I'm also a full-time medical student, he ended up telling me that I could stay, like he thought I was asking. I thought I maybe could've phrased it better, so I ended up biting my tongue and went back up to the front for another 30+ minutes. While I was on shift, I noticed many more red flags that made me uncomfortable. For example, many of the on-clock staff were at the bar drinking and smoking the whole time with the owner. At some point during the jazz band, one of the employees ordered at least two mixed drinks and sat down with all the customers to watch, and apparently got wasted from what I heard. They also told us that we aren't allowed to say no if somebody orders us a shot because it's rude, even if it made us uncomfortable. (I looked it up with my boyfriend later, and we both confirmed that working while under the influence is against federal law.) They also said that servers would need to carry your own cash around because they didn't carry cash in the register, which means that the waiters have to break their own bills and bring in at least $50 worth of cash in order to start their shift, and risk losing out on money if we can't break a bill or something. My shift finally ended at 11:20, another 20 minutes after our agreed time, only because I basically told them that I was leaving instead of asking. And that whole time, no one once said anything to me about hosting, when they wanted me to return, pay, or anything. After I left around 11:30, I heard nothing back from Chef until two days later, after he completely ignored me until then, when he asked if I could come back in an hour after he messaged me. I told him I would not be returning because of how uncomfortable and inattentive it felt, and I asked about pay, since I had worked about a 5-hour shift for free thus far, and he never replied. I didn't push because, honestly, I just wanted to walk away from what had happened from how sketchy it was, even when I was encouraged not to. For bonus, the backroom was really gross. The whole area smelled like the dishpit hadn't been cleaned in days, and the towel room was basically just cloth thrown about. I've worked in a lot of restaurants, and this was by far the most unclean and untidy one I'd seen. I won't be going back, and honestly just want to leave this behind me, and warn anyone who may apply there in the future.
