(Would absolutely return, but my jeans may never forgive me) Thrill Korean Steak and BBQ - Buford, GA First impressions: We walked into Thrill expecting the usual KBBQ chaos -- screaming tabletop grills, flying lettuce, and that one friend who overcooks everything into charcoal briquettes. Instead we got... vibes? Like, actual nice vibes. The place is sleek, modern, and somehow smells like victory and garlic at the same time. Dangerous combination. Service: 10/10, no notes. We never had to wave anyone down for more banchan, which in KBBQ is basically a miracle on par with parting the Red Sea. Food: Oh honey. * Banchan game: Strong. The kimchi was doing backflips on my tongue, the potato salad was creamy crack, the fried rice cakes were so addictive I considered hiding them in my purse. * Meat quality: Top tier. The pork jowl (samgyeopsal) was so fatty and glorious I briefly considered proposing to it. The "Thrill Prime Ribeye" lives up to the hype -- marbled like a Renaissance painting and basically melts. We also tried the garlic soy marinated galbi and I'm still thinking about it during meetings. Rude. * One tiny gripe: The spicy pork bulgogi could've used another punch of heat. My husband (who thinks black pepper is "wild") loved it, but I wanted it to slap me a little harder. Value: Very solid for the quality. $50ish per person all-you-can-eat and we waddled out feeling like we robbed the place. Pro tip: Pace yourself or you'll hit the meat coma wall around round three and start making bad life choices (see: ordering dessert). Atmosphere: Clean, bright, great ventilation (my hair did not smell like a campfire, which is a first in the history of Korean BBQ). They've got K-pop or the tv playing but not at migraine volume, so you can actually hear your dining companions confess their sins between bites. Verdict: Thrill is dangerously good. Buford finally has a KBBQ spot that can hang with the Atlanta heavyweights, and it's somehow less than 10 minutes from the Mall of Georgia (perfect for post-shopping regret eating). Bring stretchy pants, an empty stomach, and friends who won't judge you when you hit the order your 4 round of meats or drinks. We're already plotting our return. I will start off by saying I eat a lot of Korean bbq and Japanese bbq so I have a bit of a higher standard when it comes to meat quality. For Thrill KBBQ in Buford it's a $50 AYCE dinner on Saturday and Sunday which in this economy is a good value for how much food you can get; unlimited drink refills, side dishes, appetizers, and meat. Now I'd give their meat rating a 4/5 stars because I think it's pretty standard, MUCH better than Iron Age or EM Bop in Duluth- but not super great like Wagyu house atl or kangs bbq in Duluth which are about $10-ish more than thrill. However, I'm giving 5 stars overall due to value and the brownie Sunday at the end made me pretty happy :D Our server was quick and attentive so I was fine with our service. he wasn't super outgoing or talkative just very straight to the point which is fine with me but some people who are looking for a nicer experience may feel otherwise- as some people like super friendly servers. The interior is very nice, it's a nice clean modern aesthetic I'd say this place would be great for a birthday dinner or any other special gatherings. I dined in at Thrill Korean Steak and Bar with my family (party of 6) on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. We did not have a reservation and were able to sit immediately. The inside decor was very beautiful and it had an upscale vibe. The inside was not crowded and their was a view of the bar from our seats. I noticed the array of top shelf spirit choices as well as the length of the bar area and seats available. We opted for the All You Can Eat option (soft drinks included) and it was about $50 per person plus a 20% automatic gratuity. The all you can eat options included salads, broccoli, kimchee, sauces, appetizers and meats. I did find this location more pricey than other similar Korean BBQ options and felt like we had to enjoy rounds of denver steak to feel like we received our money worth. To me they had limited meat choices (mostly chicken, pork and beef), whereas I was expecting a few additional cuts such as short ribs and ribeye steak (although the Denver steak was like getting some sort of ribeye). My favorites were the korean fried chicken (spicy), denver steak and the beef bulgogi. The cajun shrimp was also good. The server was friendly, kept our drinks filled remembered to clear our plates regularly and helped with cooking our meats. We've been to this location a couple times and I have to say service is good. They actually cook the meats for us the entire time which is very nice. It is a little bit pricier than other places around but AYCE also includes a soft drink which is nice. My favorite appetizers they offer are the fried dumplings, Korean fried chicken, rice cakes and corn cheese. They also have the usual banchan but my favorite is the green onion salad. Sooo good! For protein they offer a little bit of everything. Beef, pork, chicken, seafood... The quality of the meat is okay. My favorite is the Thrill Steak Medallions. Very tender! I also celebrated my birthday here and they gave me a free dessert which I really appreciated! The place itself is so nice. We hit up Thrill, the new all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spot at the Exchange near the Mall of Georgia, on St. Patrick's Day to load up on food before a night of green beer and shenanigans. Walking in on a Monday around 5pm, I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't busy at all, and our server gave us their full attention which made the whole vibe relaxed and easygoing. The food? Fantastic. The protein selection was seriously impressive, and we made it our mission to get our money's worth. Between the two of us, we probably demolished close to $50 (if not more) in food, and at their price, that's a win! My absolute favorites were the bulgogi (so tender), the Hawaiian steak (sweet and savory perfection), the pork belly (crisp and fatty in all the right ways), and the fried dumplings (crunchy little bites of joy). What blew my mind was that the sides and appetizers are all-you-can-eat too, didn't see that coming, and it leveled up the whole deal. The place itself is spanking new, spotless, and honestly, the furnishings and accents feel upscale. It felt like a slice of Atlanta's posh scene dropped right into Buford. For a bedroom community, this is a game-changer. No need to brave 20 miles of traffic for a fancy meal when you've got this gem (couldn't get through a review without using the word gem) right here. Our visit to Thrill for the AYCE lunch menu was just okay. On this particular day, their air conditioner was not working, so fans were being used. It was a little warm but not completely unbearable. There weren't many patrons, but the servers seemed a little uninterested...just going through the motions. A manager did check on us, which was nice. In my opinion, there are little things that could help the establishment. The decor is beautiful, but the plastic on our menus was torn. These should be replaced or thrown out. We were seated by the manager and I told him I was yelping. You would think we would get great service. Well no. We ordered apps and got them almost near the end of the meal. Yes I have been to Korean Bbq but we're not told how this restaurant does it. You can order any meats and any apps. The bonchon was sparse. Not a huge variety. And we asked for 2 things to refill, again took a while. We asked for rice right after the first meats can out. We had about 4 different servers, meat turners and we never got the rice till the end with the apps. The meats were good. We had the brisket, kalbi, shrimp- which was weird. Blackened. We also had the spicy bulgogi. That was my favorite. When the apps came the wontons were store bought not made there, too much veggies in them. The chicken was like unflavored chicken bits fried with a sauce pour led in the middle. It was not even with the taste. It was not very crowded so not sure why the service was so slow and scattered. Food: Monday-Friday 11-3pm is all you can eat appetizers, soft drinks, sides and meats for $25. Lately I've been to a few places that charge you that for a bowl of food and a soft drink so this to me was well worth it. Removal of stars is our server stopped attending to us after about 45 minutes, which was confusing, especially since the place was quite empty for lunch. The food was okay- the server forgot he had chicken cooking for a party of 5. When he returned back to the table the chicken was burn and started another selection of chicken without cleaning the grill well. Not a problem. The problem is with the payment- 5 (five) separate checks. He took the payment one by one never asking would we like our receipts; printed-text or email. As a group we thought the final total was a lot. A person in our party ask for a detailed receipt; his reply was shock and wanted to know if everyone wanted a receipt. Since we all ordered the same things, two receipts would be fine. The discovery was we tipped 40%. 20% was added to the total and we tipped another 20% not knowing it was already added, which he never told us. We requested a refund for our additional tip money and the others that was leavening cash (more than 20% by the way) took their monies away the table and put it back in their purses. We got our refund and no apologies. Please- always ask for your receipt and make sure you are being tip the correct amount, no tip on sale taxes. read more

Foods great, but it's so hot in there you cannot enjoy your meal. Its already so hot as soon as you walk in the door, then add on the heat from the food cooking in front of you, it is just too much. Each table had a portable fan on them to help but it is just tacky and off. I would love to return, but I will have to drive out the way to go to the sandy aprings location until they can figure out their AC issue. I must say this was not the best of Korean BBQ food that I have experienced. For the AYCE menu you have a lot that comes with the price, which was wonderful. The quality of the meat on the other hand was low grade. From what I had, the pork belly was too thick, the beef bulgogi meat was fatty, tough, and little flavor, the beef short ribs had no flavor, and the pork bulgogi was just as flavorless as the beef and just as tough. The service was amazing from the beginning to the end. The restaurant is clean and beautiful with nice setting for just two or for large groups. Now I don't see myself going back here for a meal. Nor would I recommend it as a spot to eat for a delicious Korean BBQ meal. So if you reading this, keep looking this one is not the one to spend money on today. What a horrible experience! From the moment we walked in, the employees acted like they were angry we were there. We were a party of 10. Before we were even told they could seat us they told us gratuity would be added for a party our size. No issue. Then once we were seated they mentioned 7 times if anyone not ordering all you can eat would be charged if we took one bite of that food. Got it. Then they said drinks are extra if you don't do all you can eat. Noted . Half the table did all you can eat. Half of us ordered off the bar menu. The food smelled amazing. Sadly, my food never came and everyone finished before mine delivered. I asked to cancel it and then magically it was ready. I had them box it up to go as I was not going to make everyone now wait on me after 1.5 hours. I paid our tab and then they quickly came back and said they forgot to charge me $5.07 for the fried rice add on to my husband's all you can eat. I paid it. NOT ONCE did anyone apologize for me sitting at a table of 10 with no food. They said if I ate a morsel of the food others had I would be charged for that full meal. I am a frequent customer at this restaurant. We've came in there with our family multiple maybe once or twice a month since they've been open. Just because we enjoy and we love Korean barbecue but last night I was very very disappointed with the service. I felt as if the server who was there was racially profiling us, and I did not appreciate it, but I have never once felt this type of energy at this restaurant but last night definitely made it obvious that he did not want to serve us. He tried to make it difficult and pricey before we even sat down. We were told that our 22 month old was gonna be charged and we need to pay gratuity because she made six people. I asked him was that correct and he said it was store policy which it is not. The menu clearly reads kids three and younger eat free. It's not about gratuity because I'm in the service industry and 25% is standard for me but it's more about the way he treated us before we even got a chance to sit down as if he knew he wasn't going to get a tip from a black family and I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated. read more

My only gripe is the meat and side quality can be meh. I normally love egg soufflé but the one here is tasteless. One even came undercooked, I had to send ours back. The chicken nuggets and dumplings are nice options for those with kids. Salad has the ginger dressing that I don't care for. Prefer the traditional gojuchang dressing. The meat quality is just OK. Brisket is too lean for my taste and gets dry very fast. Nice to see they have galbi as an option but marinade is just ok. The steak options are nice and good with just salt and pepper. I've been to thrill at a different location and really enjoyed it, but this one seems new and was okay. It took some time to be seated even though there were many open spots, and it also took some time for the waiter to get to us. The pork belly was VERY fatty, almost all fat and was inedible. The galbi was on the skimpier side as well and the brisket burned. The sides were good, I enjoyed the egg soufflé and the side dishes. It was AYCE and pretty expensive but just okay in my opinion. My family and I visited Thrill last night for their soft opening and we were all so impressed with our experience. We've visited their other restaurants and this was an elevated showcase of decor. If you've had the pleasure of trying their food and experiencing their service, then you won't be surprised at how this is threaded throughout their locations. The food was fresh, flavorful and fun! What an excellent Korean BBQ experience. We came here on a Thursday as a way to celebrate successful completion of another school year and what a refreshing and pleasant surprise to a wonderful Korean BBQ feast! We've tried many Korean BBQ restaurants in our lives but this new experience at Thrill Korean BBQ was certainly unique and a wonderful twist on a Korean delicacy and fusion of flavors and textures. When I say this may be the best Korean BBQ experience in Gwinnett I say so with two thumbs up, way up. The only option here is ayce but this includes a drink and unlimited sides, appetizers such as dumplings, ramen, and kimchi jigae along with a plethora of meat and protein options. We tried one of every apps and can happily say they are all good. The protein options are plenty and of high quality. I can only hope they will maintain this quality for the long run as every meat dish made me smile. I ordered a peach cocktail which was recommended by our server Joe, who was excellent and really helped bring the experience together. The ambiance of the restaurant is clean and spacious and very modern. Their grills are really high tech and I believe are downdraft grills so you don't end up smelling like Korean BBQ afterwards and doesn't create a smoky atmosphere like most other Korean BBQ restaurants. Price wise, it was very affordable and much better value than some of the other options in town like Cow Wow Korean BBQ so the value here is outstanding. Parking is plentiful and everything about our experience at Thrill Korean BBQ was top notch and an A+ grade. Ate here tonight for my boyfriend's birthday and the service was rough. I'm a hospitality manager in food myself so I realize I have high standards. But not being greeted for almost 10 minutes (no exaggeration) is crazy. Our server was bussing a table before greeting us. He also had us repeat literally everything we asked for. Kept forgetting. They don't close until 12am, but people were vacuuming and closing down at 10pm. Banging things and making so much noise. After we had ordered several things he disappeared for like 15 minutes. We had to ask for him and he came back and said "sorry was talking to my manager". ?!!? Ruined a nice birthday evening for us. We work a lot and were looking forward to the time together. A newer place like this should be prioritizing fantastic service so that people keep coming back and they can build their business. Our first time here, and we already won't be coming back. Two people behind the host stand on their phones in plain sight as we were leaving. I would DIE if my staff did that. There are cheaper places with much better service. I was dining alone so I decided to try Thrill and sit at the bar. The restaurant was not busy at all but it was early for dinner. I was the only person at the bar. I was greeted as I sat down and offered a menu. I ordered the plate with 2 appetizers, 1 protein and 2 sides. I also added on the ramen. The plate came out in about 10 minutes and at that point the bartender that was waiting on me was no where to be found. I probably waited 5-6 mins before he resurfaced and asked how my food is. I said "I don't know I don't have any utensils". He went to the hostess stand and returned with a plastic fork. Ummmm ok?!? I pointed out that my ramen, sauce and sides are still MIA. He said "they're coming out". I then had to ask for a refill on my water and a napkin. He went to hand me a cocktail napkin and I politely asked for a full size napkin. Come on man ... spare a square!! Ramen came out about 5 minutes later but still no sauce or sides. I was quite a bite through my meal at that point and for the second time I asked about the sides. He apologized and said he'd go check with the kitchen. He retuned with my sides and an excuse that they are short on kitchen staff. I also had to request the sauce for my meal which didn't come out with my plate. There was literally no more than 3 tables in the entire restaurant. The restaurant was clean and bright but a little on the noisy side - not from the guests but from the staff. At one point there had to be 8-10 staff just hanging out at the hostess stand.
