I'm glad I found this cute little place in downtown Pasadena! I'm not from the area at all but was just around here to grab some dinner and dessert afterwards. I saw coconut pudding was on the menu and decided to walk on over. They have a variety of drinks and flavors and mixes that you don't see at your usual boba spots. You can also choose your fruity topping for the coconut pudding. The lady working behind the counter seemed like maybe this was her shop because she worked like she cares about what she does and how her drinks are made. She was also super sweet and we were greeted and tended to upon arrival. I ordered a matcha mango milk tea with agar boba and regular sweetness and my bf ordered a coffee milk tea also with regular sweetness. I had never seen mango mixed with matcha because places always do strawberry. I tasted the mango at first before it was mixed and I loved that fruity flavor, but after mixing it up, it just tasted like matcha which was yummy too. My bf enjoyed the flavor of his coffee milk tea and said it was just right. I tried the coconut pudding with diced strawberries on top and I thought it was a light and tasty little treat. I've never actually ordered coconut pudding anywhere but I've seen it on menus. We sat and drank and played a game that was on the table that I've actually never seen before so that was cool! The lady actually checked and made sure our drinks tasted alright and she even came around and gave us and another table of customers a little packaged snowflake crisp nougat which I believe is a Taiwanese snack. Wow! What a great surprise. Milk tea drinks are fine but generally don't float my boat. Stopped at 7 Tea with my daughter recently at her insistence. The atmosphere is nice--good place to hunker down with a book or laptop and a drink. (I still don't understand why most milk tea / boba places, including 7 Tea, use impersonal ordering kiosks, but I digress.) But I was really surprised by the quality of the drink her royal highness got. It had fresh fruit and high quality puree (mango in this case). It was delicious. 4.5 stars for 7Tea! This is probably our new favorite drink place even if it's a bit pricey. Drinks are solid using quality ingredients and they also let you choose from almond milk, organic coconut milk, oat milk or organic milk. We recently got the mango chia (oat milk, 50% sweet) and the snow white (oat milk, 50% sweet) and both were so tasty! We also like how they incorporate a decent amount of real fruit in the drinks so that the drinks are bright and refreshing. I came to 7 Tea with a friend on a weeknight while talking a scroll in Pasadena. What better way to make the night better? Some boba of course! We were able to swoop in right before closing time. The team member at 7 Tea was kind enough to take and make our orders as we were the last ones! I was feeling like a refreshing drink so I ordered the Dragon Fruit Green Tea per my friend's recommendation and it was on-point! I loved the little fruity bits and the flavor of the green tea really came through. It's now probably my favorite drink place because of the Dragon Fruit tea. If that isn't your cup of tea, they have lots of milk teas also and you're able to customize with different milk options - which isn't common for a lot of boba places actually! Omg. This place is too cute not to check out. The whole shop is pretty entertaining to me cause it has a lot of random stuff. They also have a very smart design of a seating area on the walkway to the restroom. It kind of remind me of Japan seating, where you sit parallel to each other facing same direction. Pretty smart design to avoid traffic. But beside the decor, the drinks are really good. They use real fruits and have an assortment of teas. They also have some unique mix of drinks. I really like Boba - have ever since I tried it in Korea Town during my law school days. Wasn't prepared for this place. Eons ago, at Asian American Expo 2020 before the pandemic hit, I snagged one of their stamp cards from their booth, only to my dismay, finding out that they're all the way in Pasadena. Not gonna lie, Pasadena spooks me with the driving and parking situation, but we happened to be in the area and my eyes lit up seeing that 7TEA was near us. They have a wide variety of drinks and lots of them are super unique. If we didn't have to eat in our car, the desserts looked super tantalizing. We got the: 1) White Bunny Candy Milk Tea with Boba: -My eyes zoomed to this drink instantly and I HAD to get it. I love those bunny milk candies so much. -I'm actually not sure if that was the name of the drink, but if you know you know :) -Very creamy, sweet, milky and delicious. They actually melt down the candies, so you know it's the real stuff. -The boba itself was mid. Kinda slimy and didn't really have too much taste to it, so I'd skip this if possible. 2) Oolong Tea: -My friend got this at 0% sweetness and it was just disappointedly very watered down. The service here was awesome, albeit having to wait a few minutes for the staff to come out and greet us (they probably didn't hear the bell ring), but they were super friendly and so helpful. The customer service was very good in my opinion, and it felt like you were being greeted by family or something like that. They were very helpful and explained the menu thoroughly! The outside of the store might look a bit plain but the inside is absolutely gorgeous! There is a rack full of toys that I think (before COVID) they allowed customers to play with while drinking tea. Their tables were well organized and as was the array of different tea leaves. The boba was okay, but since their tea is not very sweet, I recommend just getting full sweetness for the milk teas and 75% for fruit teas. The 7 Tea Milk Tea I ordered was warm and not iced, probably because the tea they added was still hot. The Peach Fruit Tea was really good and the clear boba is super chewy. The black boba is not as chewy as other shops I've tried and since I got 50%, it was not sweet (which was my fault not theirs!!) Overall, a pretty good shop, and I recommend trying it out! The woman working when I came in took the time to explain their offerings and how to order. I like that you can choose your milk ! Most boba places don't offer multiple types of milk (oat milk, soy milk, etc). The only thing I ordered was the coconut mango milk tea and I enjoyed it! I got the kiwi strawberry dr. Fruit tea with boba and 50% sweetness. Strangely enough, the drink came with chunks of pineapple, which overpowered the flavor of the tea. I wasn't sure if it was an accident, because the drink name states nothing about pineapple, and I wouldn't have gotten it if I had known. The boba was slightly undercooked, with a bit more firmness than I'd prefer. Price-wise, it was on the more expensive side, with the boba costing an additional 65 cents and pushing this to over 7 dollars. Other than the drinks, the staff were very nice and made the drink quickly. The store itself is also very cosy and surprisingly large. I'm looking forward to seeing it post-covid times. I only got the oolong milk tea and it's quite light. If you prefer a stronger tea flavor/concentration, this may not be your cup of tea (^_^). Pun aside, the oolong milk tea is a solid choice for afternoon tea since the caffeine won't keep you up at night. And they offer oat milk as an option for lactose intolerant (or vegan) people at no extra charge. Aaanndd I was given a delicious piece of nougat to go with my drink - very nice touch! Was in the area so decided to try this place out since it seemed good. I was a little disappointed that the boba tasted like rubber. It was more chewy than anything with no actual taste to it. I got the dragon fruit yogurt milk tea and asked for 100% sweetness but it was not very tasty. I do like that they have milk alternatives. I went with coconut milk--expecting it to taste the way Starbucks does dragon fruit (a little sweeter) but it was very bland tasting. :( couldn't taste the yogurt or the dragon fruit. My drink was good. I'm only get one thing on the menu and that's the taro milk tea with Oat milk. However something I've noticed the last 2x I've visited are that the staff are super unfriendly and they don't speak when I walk in. This last visit which was just about an hour ago. I walked in and the one girl was sitting down and she was talking to another worker standing up. I walked up to the register and she does say hello or anything. The folks that came in after me she spoke to but they couldn't even hear her. Yes I'm a black woman and this is really disappointing as I drive about 25 minutes to this place. Pretty solid drink selection! I got the passion fruit black tea, 70% sweetness. I liked that it even had little passion fruit "seeds" for added texture and authenticity. I especially liked the boba texture-- it felt fresh, warm, and chewy. But the flavor in the boba was lacking. It could've been sweeter. There is a TON of seating. We are both boba tea fans and this place is definitely CERTIFIED. 7 TEA might not be a big-name drink chain store but their quality of drinks is above average. I tried the taro milk tea with boba. They have fresh taro inside the drink in chunks and the milk tea is freshly brewed and flavorful. I am a big taro milk tea fan. Whenever you get a purple color taro milk tea, it means they make it using artificial powders. This place made it with freshly cooked taro. Boba is soft and chewy without excessive sugar like many other places. I also recommend adding agar boba with any milk tea, it tastes great. A great new boba place in the Playhouse District of Pasadena. I tried the Purple Rice Milk Tea with 50% sugar, the tea was underwhelming. However, I did enjoy the chunks of purple rice. It was slightly sweet with a fun texture. I got it without boba and also recommend folks to not get boba with this drink. They also gave a sample of their coconut pudding! It's quite yummy. The downside is that it's a little on the pricier end of boba. Also, parking can be a little tricky, street parking is the way to go! I like their mango matcha milk tea a lot. They really do use fresh ingredients , not mango syrup. I get it extra sweet (140% to 150%) as the fresh mango is not as sweet. I appreciate that they accommodated some modifications of the proportion of ingredients of my tea . Their price is higher than other places. The price listed is for a small size and for a large size, it is $8. I do wish the price is a bit lower, then I probably would come more frequently. My experience with the women there have been very pleasant. Fortunately nothing resembles the bad experience of the ones writing the bad review or i wouldn't go back a few times already. The first time I stopped by, I think they got my order wrong but they fixed it right away. The grass jelly was so good that I came back with my friend and this time the service was spot on. Love the vibes of the shop and there are some handmade marble games where you have to avoid the holes so the marble doesn't drop (it was entertaining to figure out exactly how the game worked). For anyone curious about the grass jelly texture (cuz I know I'm picky about it), it's smooth but not in the jello type way, it's more viscous...? OMG, this place is the bomb! The moment you walk in you will smell really really strong of freshly brewed teas! As a tea lover and drinker, this place is so underrated, I know the logo is not appealing or stuff, but when you come into the store, you will see a natural vibe with tea and boba drinks, and they use premium ingredients! No additives or artificial flavors! I always get more than 1 drink every time I come here. My fave has always been roasted flavored drinks. The last time I came, I got roasted barley milk tea and roasted oolong tea, and they never disappoint. Just a head's up, their boba is NOT honey/Brown Sugar boba, so more like a plain boba, but again, this place is very premium ingredients oriented, so with the drink by itself, I don't have any complaints at all lol. When you taste their drinks with tea in them, you will taste a very strong tea flavor, which I prefer when ordering premium tea drinks. Parking is a little tricky because, since covid, the parking street in front of the store has been used for additional space for local restaurants, but you can always find one during non-rush hours. I also highly recommend getting their homemade Snowflake Crackers, I don't think you can find it elsewhere, but those are bombs! I got samples of it when I bought my drinks and loving it! I like that they now offer caffeine free barley tea as an option and that they continue to use fresh ingredients (ex: Fresh taro, mango puree, etc). Came in February before the pandemic started for a BTS event for member J-Hope. Tried one of the special renamed drinks of that event: a strawberry flavored drink (sorta like milk tea) with three types of jelly - matcha, milk tea, and grass jelly ($5.75). I was super thankful they were willing to accommodate using my reusable tumbler for the drink rather than a plastic disposable cup. The drink was pretty delicious too. I was back in December, also for another BTS event, since I don't make it out too often to Pasadena for boba. WOW. If I could give this place a million stars I would. Seriously.. Okay start to finish. My boyfriend and I were heading out on a road trip. So of course we needed boba I was looking for the best place and found this gem. Only a few minutes off the freeway with decent parking. When you walk inside you'll be pleasantly surprised. The vibe is absolutely delightful. From The art pieces, deco and the seating it's definitely a place I wouldn't mind sitting down at if it weren't for covid. I love that this place doesn't use the milk powder.. the tea is all top quality loose leaf. I didn't try it, but the coconut yogurt looked amazing! He got it 50% sweet ( which honestly wasn't even that sweet so If you like it sweet 75% forsure) I got the dragon fruit tea with boba 25% sweet and man... hands down BEST BOBA TEA I've ever had in my whole life.. the quality?
