I'm not sure if it contributed to a more watery flavor to my finished drink, tho. I prefer my milk teas with a milkier flavor. However, I *loved* the tea flavor of this one. Tiny boba tea shop in the heart of Pasadena. No tables or seating whatsoever, so it is definitely a grab and go type of place. My husband and I were so impressed with the quality of the drinks that we visited twice within a month. Highly recommend the Golden Buddha Silk Boba and Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba. Both of these drinks were delicious. The golden buddha milk tea has flavors of dried longan, toasted rice, and burnt firewood. The yuzu osmanthus tea has a floral and fragrant flavor with a hint of honey. For the silk boba, you can choose between wintermelon or jasmine. I personally prefer the jasmine silk boba. The smooth, silky texture is very enjoyable. Other drinks I tried are Yuzu Matcha Silk Boba and Grapefruit Oolong Silk Boba. The flavors of the yuzu and matcha worked surprisingly well together, although I feel that the matcha did overpower the yuzu. As for the grapefruit oolong tea, I liked that pieces of grapefruit pulp were included in the drink, and it did not taste sour at all. A small tea shop in the busy shops around Pasadena, you can hardly find this spot as they're quite hidden in the busy walkways. Inside is quite small, no seating, just a order stand, some merch on the side, and a glass panel where you can see the staff preparing your drink. Overall, quite cute, but definitely gets cramped if there's a lot of customers. We visited right at their opening hours and there were already plenty of people waiting in line. Parking - HIGHLY and I mean HIGHLY recommend parking in the parking structure couple shops down from Odd One Out Tea, parking here is always easy, fast, and CHEAP. It's $1 parking fee for 2 hours and you pay at a pay station before you leave, can't find cheaper parking than that elsewhere. Inside the store, before you order, there's some samples on the left. My wife had got some for me and I was amazed by one of the samples. Turns out it was the Yuzu Osmanthus, which I had to try. My wife opted for the Golden Buddha Silk Boba ($7.50+ $1 for topping) while I locked in my order of the Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba. ($7 + $1 for topping) I added Jasmine Silk Boba to my drink and my wife added Wintermelon Silk Boba to her drink. Drinks came out pretty quick, cups are pretty standard and their cups are nice as well, no spillage and a clean, modern, and simple design, love it. My drink, the yuzu was absolutely amazing. It felt like a bright, very floral drink. It had a scent and feel of honey in there, which was a nice balance for the osmanthus. A very well made drink, highly recommend if you like Japanese yuzu like this one. The Golden Buddha Silk Boba was also very delicious. Texture is very nice, it created that rich, but very subtle feel of sweetness added to the drink. Can't really pinpoint what it is but it was definitely a roasting type feel to the drink. I liked both of the taro drinks because of the taro paste. I think it wouodve been better without the mochi? It didnt really taste like mochi. Both were not overly sweet and its pretty worth for a large @7. They had a container out with spoons next to it so i thought they had samples but it was empty when i checked. Now I'm not a huge boba fan for the mere fact that the places usually overcook them and they are usually too mushy for my liking. I often prefer jellies as they don't decompose if you save your drink for later. This place with their silk boba is something else. It is a cross between a jelly and the warabimochi. It's not as firm as the jelly or not as soft as the mochi, but a perfect blend for your drinking pleasure. The Golden Buddha Silk Boba at 50% sweetness was perfect and hit the spot. A definite must try if you're in the Old Town Pasadena area! It's a small, but cute place that doesn't traditionally look like a boba spot from the outside. One of my go to places for high quality tea! I like their decaf options, especially since I crave boba at night and don't want to stay up all night. I usually go for the winter melon lemon if I want a fruity decaf option or the sobacha milk tea if I want a creamy/milk tea flavor. Both are solid and I love their silk boba options! You can't adjust the sweetness for the winter melon but I like to make the sobacha less sweet since the boba is already sweetened. If you watch YouTubers from Taiwan, Joeman did introduce this shop in Taiwan in his second season of "Joe 是要對絕" In the beginning it was curiosity and wondered if they can bring or reproduce the same taste and quality of their teas and creativity from their store in Taiwan. #MIT and #Azn. My usually order is the: 1) Taiwan champion Milk tea 50% sweet and no ice. 2) Yuzu osmanthus with jasmine silk or watermelon silk boba. 3) whatever their seasonal creation is in rotation (never disappointed). Their teas by themselves has the consistency of "回甘" which is a good measure of their teas, one sip after another with the drying of your tongue. That is how much I love OOO. There is that meme, of Fry from Futurama (be quiet and just take my money). That's basically where my hard earned money went...this store. The staff is always friendly and trained extremely well. They will talk to you. Even the owner, John (I had the privilege to talk to him on the second day after they opened). Their courteousness really separates them from rest of the boba shops I have visited. This is the only knock against OOO because inside their shop is small (I wish they can serve food with a food license or expand into a bigger cafe). This place gives me the study boba cafe vibes. Parking is not the greatest so be creative! Outside on the street is only temporary parking, so be smart about it. So if you are coming from out of town drop by and visit this boba shop, it will not let you down. read more

I honestly wasn't expecting much for this place, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good their milk tea was! Came here right before closing on a weeknight and they had no issue with me coming in to order. They still had all of their topping selections which was great and the place still had a bit of a queue. Service was quick and efficient - we were in and out in a matter of minutes. I was confused about silk boba because they look like jelly (square) but the cashier was helpful. I got the TW 23 Golden Buddha Silk Boba, which won an award in Taiwan 2023. I really like their drinks here. Honestly speaking, when I first tried them at their Sawtelle location, I was not impressed at all. It was very watered down, and I only remember being so disappointed for driving all the way there just to try OOO. But the Pasadena location definitely changed that. Their drinks are so good. I usually do not like having any toppings in my drinks, but I enjoy their Jasmine Silk boba. The texture is so perfect, and it goes well with any drinks on the menu. Service is good, not great. It depends on who is working at the time of your visit. Some of the workers are so quiet, and they do not look like they get along with one another. It was so awkward having to face that while placing my order. Their Champion Milk Tea is definitely very smooth and creamy, and if you add the Jasmine Silk boba, it enhances the texture part of the drink. Surely a very fun drink to sip on! Their classic line is also pretty awesome. My favorite out of that would have to be Hokkaido Soba! So smooth, yet earthy and nutty, I absolutely love this kind of flavor profile! Golden Buddha Silk milk tea is also my go-to. Because it's in the heart of Old Pasadena, parking is not easy, but I usually street park a block away on Raymond and just walk through the passageway to cut through. You can always park in the structure, but I hear that it is not free anymore, but I am not too sure on that. They also have a Koreatown location in Madang Plaza currently having a soft opening, and my friends enjoyed their drinks there, so I will be there soon to try! I have seen odd one out tea a bunch on social media lately. I happened to be near old town and decided to stop in and order a drink. I'm getting the golden Buddha iron milk tea with the jasmine silk jelly. I love the chew of the jelly. I'll have to try some of the other flavors next time And I'd love how the drink was very tea forward. I might try something a little bit less sweet next time. I went with a perfect option and perfect ice. I was able to park right at the parking structure and they're right next to blue bottle which aisle still always know as the old coffee bean location. And they're located right next to the beard papa that's next to them. I was able to get everything done really quickly and it was such an efficient trip I was in and out of there quickly. You know what Old Pas could use more of? Tea and boba shops, of course! Now, it may seem odd to think Odd One Out actually can offer something distinct from its competitors but I am here to say that the silk boba (surprisingly also made out of tapioca) and the tea quality here are very good. I like that their taro drinks also include mochi (made of rice and taro) and that all tea drinks can be made "pure" (i.e., without milk). I've only tried the red oolong but was impressed by how much I could actually taste the tea when sipping! BTW default sweetness here is set at 50%--you can lower to 25%, 10%, or 0%, and even increase to 75%. I found the default to be perfect for a pure tea boba drink but your mileage may vary (I like my drinks on the sweeter side!) I think the only reason why I am not giving the full five stars is that the boba was a little mushy (missing that critical QQ factor) and the storefront itself is small--no tables or chairs. Fabulous tea spot! Food - Drinks are great! You can tell they use high quality ingredients. They use Strauss milk and have unique herbal teas and toppings. I can't express how impressed I was with their quality, especially when they're priced similarly to other spots that use those pre-sweetened powders to blend up your drinks (no offense to those types of milk tea shops, I just found these drinks a lot fresher!) There's just variety and quality here I have never seen in any other tea spot. I'd only advise folks to keep an eye on the sugar level! Does Odd One Out allow dogs? Yes. Given the limited indoor space, it's a good idea to wait with your pup outside. We first encountered Odd One Out as a small stand at Smorgasburg. Very happy to see their success in LA. Taiwan has some of the best teas (imo), and OOO does a great job in bringing out each tea's flavor in their drinks, unlike many other boba places where the tea is often muted. This was a cute little place that my friend had recommended. We walked in and this person with gorgeous makeup taking orders turned out to be the sweetest person, genuinely. They probably thought we were cute on an old people kind of way but they were very helpful and patient.
