The bad: we were told everything except matcha latte is premade and pre sweetened which means for anyone not wishing to develop diabetes or used to customize their sweet percentages (as in most tea/coffee shops) you're sh&t out of luck. That's what keeps me coming. Tea flavors: Pineapple sencha: probably the most refreshing boba teas I've ever had. It tastes so good and refreshing. The pineapple sencha is one of my faves. Caffeine level is low for those sensitive to caffeine and also pregnant. I literally drank this while I was pregnant and still do. Peach Oolong: very refreshing. I love the flavors. They're all natural so you feel better knowing that it's not extremely processed. When I say finest I mean that the natural flavors are exceptionally good. I'm trying to branch out to taste the other flavors but I love getting these so much! Boba: the flavor and texture is excellent. I love that it's no overly chewy and that when I put it into the fridge it doesn't automatically harden like a rock. I can finish the rest the next day and the quality is not compromised! It's also not overly sweet so it doesn't take away from the tea flavors. Chocolate chip cookies: hear me out - I'm a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur and these are really good. Simple but tasty, not flashy but very balanced and worth the try. I wish they were sold in packs cuz I can eat a bunch of these. Updated: chocolate chip peanut butter is delicious too! With Sprinkled in peanuts it has great texture and a great balance between the chocolate and peanut butter. It's not overpowering. It's a great mixvbetween the two flavors! Service: excellent. This cute little tea house is located where Dots Cupcakes used to be. Upon entering the cute tea house, you'll notice an intoxicating fragrant scent wafting through the place which I assumed was an air freshener of some sort but to my delight, the person behind the counter said it's scent of the tea! Tru Tea showcases its specialties (drinks, cookies, etc.) with natural ingredients and attention to details. The perfectly chewy boba complemented Earl Gray Milk Tea so well. In general it's best not to leave beverage overnight, but because I ordered the sizeable drink after a full meal and couldn't finish it, the next day I microwaved the leftover boba which did not lose its chewiness and flavor at all - the same cannot be said for pre-made, pre-packaged boba. Peach Oolong (Formosa Oolong + peach + agave) was aromatic and refreshing too. (This is another reason I couldn't finish the Earl Gray Milk Tea. Peach Oolong was also of generous portion.) As specified on Tru Tea's website, all fruit teas are brewed in-house with real fruit infusion and sweetened with organic agave nectar. I once counted the number of eateries that served boba tea on my way to work (15-minute commute) - there were about 12! SoCal is laden with tea establishments. Competition could not be more fierce. A lot of other boba shops use bad boba that is overly starchy and it is hard to find a place with good texture. The business owner was very sweet and let us sample her various iced tea flavors. We ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea and the Peach Oolong. Both were great, not overly sweet, and super fresh. I also liked that you could taste the real peach flavor that she infused into the tea.
