Excellent boba! Found out there's a Pasadena location for Odd One Out and decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Golden Buddha Silk Boba Milk Tea at 50% sweetness and light ice and it was just right for me. Flavorful and aromatic tea, and paired with the chewy boba was the perfect combo. The boba itself lacked some consistency with some being very silky and soft, and others being more chewy. Overall, I enjoyed the texture and drink as a whole. The shop is very small, no space to sit so not a hangout or work spot. Ideal for quick stop and go. Location is great in the heart of Old Town Pasadena with sights all around. There's also apparel on sale for diehard OOO Tea fans. Service here was fine, and parking was easy on a weekday evening at the parking structure next door. (Free for first 15 mins so perfect for a quick boba run!) Thumbs up from me!
Award-winning bobas and they'll remind you of it with all their banners :) but it's legit good -- coming from a boba snob from Taiwan myself. :) Service is efficient and store is set pretty much for takeout only, so grab your yummy bobas and crema teas and go!
After eating breakfast, my sis was craving for Odd One Out, so we went. My sis placed an online order and by the time we arrived, everything was packed. We were able to walk in, grab it and leave. Service was fast, efficient and the workers were super nice!
Definitely came back every Wednesday after a run and it's very cozy inside. Ordered the yuzu Osmanthus tea and passion fruit tea. The seeds get in the way of the drink so be aware of that order. Ordering is quick and attentive. I do recommend a fan exhaust to clear the dampness and air. Caught myself sneezing too much in there and had to step out for a bit.
Tiny boba tea shop in the heart of Pasadena. No tables or seating whatsoever, so it is definitely a grab and go type of place. My husband and I were so impressed with the quality of the drinks that we visited twice within a month. Highly recommend the Golden Buddha Silk Boba and Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba. Both of these drinks were delicious. The golden buddha milk tea has flavors of dried longan, toasted rice, and burnt firewood. The yuzu osmanthus tea has a floral and fragrant flavor with a hint of honey. For the silk boba, you can choose between wintermelon or jasmine. I personally prefer the jasmine silk boba. The smooth, silky texture is very enjoyable. Other drinks I tried are Yuzu Matcha Silk Boba and Grapefruit Oolong Silk Boba. The flavors of the yuzu and matcha worked surprisingly well together, although I feel that the matcha did overpower the yuzu. As for the grapefruit oolong tea, I liked that pieces of grapefruit pulp were included in the drink, and it did not taste sour at all. My husband and I both agree that the 50% sugar level was the perfect level of sweetness.
Odd One Out is an award-winning Taiwanese tea shop chain and one of my personal fave places to grab a drink. This location is located right in the heart of Old Town Pasadena where street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a modest setup with no seating options. Wifey ended up getting the Iron Buddha Milk Tea and I got the Passionfruit Osmanthus Silk Boba. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely come stop by to grab a drink and walk around the area to peruse all the different stores nearby!
A small tea shop in the busy shops around Pasadena, you can hardly find this spot as they're quite hidden in the busy walkways. Inside is quite small, no seating, just a order stand, some merch on the side, and a glass panel where you can see the staff preparing your drink. Overall, quite cute, but definitely gets cramped if there's a lot of customers. We visited right at their opening hours and there were already plenty of people waiting in line. Parking - HIGHLY and I mean HIGHLY recommend parking in the parking structure couple shops down from Odd One Out Tea, parking here is always easy, fast, and CHEAP. It's $1 parking fee for 2 hours and you pay at a pay station before you leave, can't find cheaper parking than that elsewhere. Inside the store, before you order, there's some samples on the left. My wife had got some for me and I was amazed by one of the samples. Turns out it was the Yuzu Osmanthus, which I had to try. My wife opted for the Golden Buddha Silk Boba ($7.50+ $1 for topping) while I locked in my order of the Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba. ($7 + $1 for topping) I added Jasmine Silk Boba to my drink and my wife added Wintermelon Silk Boba to her drink. Drinks came out pretty quick, cups are pretty standard and their cups are nice as well, no spillage and a clean, modern, and simple design, love it. My drink, the yuzu was absolutely amazing. It felt like a bright, very floral drink. It had a scent and feel of honey in there, which was a nice balance for the osmanthus. A very well made drink, highly recommend if you like Japanese yuzu like this one. The Golden Buddha Silk Boba was also very delicious. Texture is very nice, it created that rich, but very subtle feel of sweetness added to the drink. Can't really pinpoint what it is but it was definitely a roasting type feel to the drink. Very addicting overall. One thing I found is that both our drinks had their "Silk Boba" added to the drinks which is similar to tapioca and mochi mixed to get that soft, melting topping, very impressed overall, definitely a top spot for my wife and I to visit whenever we're visiting Pasadena.
I liked both of the taro drinks because of the taro paste. I think it wouodve been better without the mochi? It didnt really taste like mochi. Both were not overly sweet and its pretty worth for a large @7. They had a container out with spoons next to it so i thought they had samples but it was empty when i checked. I thought the ice part was hilarious when i saw 5 piece ice and ice free. Now that i am writing this i realized it mean 50% the ice they usually use then no ice? I got perfect ice so i had more than 5 pieces. They had alot of people come in at once so service was a bit slow but they only had 2 people working.
Service was nice. Friendly service. The tea was tasteless and had no aroma. There's so many boba tea shops on every corner in Old Pasadena. Unfortunately I picked the one with the tasteless tea. At least the service was good,
This place has won awards from 2022-2023 at the milk tea festival. One of their signature drinks that won an award is the champion milk tea. I got the drink with 50% sugar and 5 piece ice with no toppings. The flavor of the drink was very creamy with a strong tea taste. Would try their iron Buddha drink next time. It is pricey for the drink around $7-$8 for one drink without any toppings. Apparently there is a store located in Taipei Taiwan Would come here again if I stop by or happen to be in the area.
Now I'm not a huge boba fan for the mere fact that the places usually overcook them and they are usually too mushy for my liking. I often prefer jellies as they don't decompose if you save your drink for later. This place with their silk boba is something else. It is a cross between a jelly and the warabimochi. It's not as firm as the jelly or not as soft as the mochi, but a perfect blend for your drinking pleasure. The Golden Buddha Silk Boba at 50% sweetness was perfect and hit the spot. A definite must try if you're in the Old Town Pasadena area! It's a small, but cute place that doesn't traditionally look like a boba spot from the outside. The girl who helped us was very nice and patient with all the questions we had as it was our first time. All in all, a wonderful experience. I love this boba place! My new favorite!
Clean, small boba shop in old town Pasadena. There is no seating space so just a quick grab and go spot. I opted for the Champion Milk Tea with Jasmine Silk Boba, which is the exact drink I tried a while ago at their newer Ktown location. The service was very friendly and cheerful, and my drink came out quickly. Unfortunately, after trying their Ktown location first, the tea here was not as strong and I was pretty disappointed in how flavorless the Jasmine silk boba was. There was a barely noticeable faint tea flavor in the jelly and I felt like I was just chewing primarily for the texture. Pretty disappointing for a $10 large drink when I know their newer location is way better. Probably won't be back as there are plenty of other boba shops nearby in Old Town.
Worth a try. We stumbled on this place while on our way to the parking structure. We tried the Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba and Taro Mochi Oolong Milk tea. Both were good depending on your preference. The Yuzu was refreshing while the Taro Mochi was more filling with chunks of mochi and taro pieces. We liked that they had milk alternatives to choose from as well as the level of sweetness. We had both at 50% which was perfect for us. The place is pretty small so no place to sit. The staff were pleasant and the drinks came out fairly quickly. I would definitely go back to try some of their other drinks.
The tea is refreshing and tastes high quality. Service was solid, the shop is minimal and clean, and they have some cute merch. Order was ready pretty quickly, albeit there was only one order ahead of mine. Got the Black Rose Milk Tea with Coconut Sugar Boba, hot and 25% sugar. I would've preferred brown sugar boba with this drink but they don't have that option. First time trying a coconut sugar boba and it was good! Faint taste of coconut which I perhaps could've enjoyed more in a different drink. Also tried the Yuzu Osmanthus with Wintermelon Silk Boba, less ice and 25% sugar-- super refreshing! Wasn't expecting to like the wintermelon silk boba as much as I did. Loved the texture and chewiness! Definitely would get this exact drink again. read more
This was a cute little place that my friend had recommended. We walked in and this person with gorgeous makeup taking orders turned out to be the sweetest person, genuinely. They probably thought we were cute on an old people kind of way but they were very helpful and patient. They just happened to have the yuzu osmanthus to sample and hubby really loved it so he ordered that. I got the grapefruit oolong and it was really refreshing on that one Saturday that was close to 100 degrees. Yeah, you know... You know what Saturday I'm talking about. As it so happens, my drink was delicious as well. My brother was also impressed and got a drink for SIL as well. Definitely a nice spot to find. I love Odd One Out! I first tried their location in Sawtelle and fell in love with the quality and craft of their teas, so it was exciting to see they had opened another location over in Pasadena. The location is smaller and the line was long, but it was well worth the wait to get a high quality boba drink. I opted for their Oolong Milk Tea with Oat Milk and reduced ice. You can really taste the tea and I found the less sugar option to be perfect for my liking. Boba itself was solid and perfectly cooked. While the drink took a bit longer to come out, I say that's a testament to how busy they can get and their intentionality behind making each drink count. read more

Location: This shop is located right at the heart of downtown Pasadena, there is a huge parking structure right across for parking. Parking fee is $1 for 2 hours and then additional fees apply when you park longer. Tea: we ordered their signature champion milk tea. At first when we taste it, it tasted blend and watery. However, as we continue to drink it, for some reasons the flavor gets stronger and we end up liking it. Shop: Is a boba shop, this is a grab and go place, there is no place to seat. Service: the server was super nice and was able to provide suggestions. Very attentive to all my questions and request as well. read more
This spot has been on my list since I saw the lines out the door for its soft/grand openings! Thankfully there was no line when I went, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the Blue Matcha and wow look at that color!! Subtly sweet, I believe the sweetness starts at 50% (Perfect Sweet) and it was perfect as is. You can really taste the high quality ingredients, and smell when you walk in. On the pricier side of drinks, but worth the splurge as a nice treat ($8.50). read more

I've been wanting to try this boba spot and my friend and I just happened to be in the area. I liked how they offered drink samples and the taro mochi topping to try before ordering. I ordered the Yuzu Osmanthus with Jasmine Silk Boba and my friend got the Wintermelon Lemon. My friend said that the sweetener tasted artificial and they didn't like that they couldn't change the sugar level. Overall, it's a nice boba spot with cool merch! read more
This is my favorite tea shop in SGV. I have tried many boba/tea places and this one is just so unique and high quality. My only gripe about this location is the parking. Its located in Old town so the parking is very hard.. especially if im driving just for the tea. I would definitely visit more frequently if parking was more accessible. Anyway, they came out with some seasonal drinks. I sampled the taro mochi red oolong tea and it was Soooo delicious. Even though I had ordered my regular yuzu osmanthus, I had to get another drink because it was that good. Definitely try it! read more

Get the Golden Buddha with jasmine silk boba jelly! Cute interior and merch but this is the type of boba shop where you pick up your order and leave - no room to sit or lounge around. I loved that there were free samples available to try. Everything tasted pretty good. I recommend against choosing alternative milks though. Almond milk overpowers the tea flavors. My husband ordered the drink that comes with foam and regular boba but made the mistake of using almond milk. Maybe they should just offer A2 milk instead so the flavor profile doesn't change. read more
Odd One Out has definitely made its way on to my top 5 boba shops :). Contrary to what some people have been writing, I thought that the two drinks we got were both very strong and bold rather than being watered down. However, I do agree that the drinks are on the pricier side -- for two drinks with toppings, it came out to $20, so definitely more of a splurge. They offered samples, I believed I tried the Yuzu Osmanthus -- it was so incredibly refreshing, light, and perfectly sweet. However, I opted for the milk teas since that is what I came here to try (but I will def get this next time). 1. Champion Milk Tea (4.7/5): creamy, full-bodied 2. Iron Buddha (4/5): i was surprised by how heavy the notes of tie guan yin was!! i just wish it was a little creamier This place is pretty tiny -- mainly for take out, so don't expect to sit down and chat for long :') There is either parking right in front for 30 minutes (I believe) or a parking structure around the corner for $1 for the first two hours. read more
Odd One Out Tea is an authentic Taiwanese craftsmanship. I am glad that they have a new location in Pasadena. The Boba shop is just adjacent to Beard Papa. The menu includes wide selection of tea; crafted milk tea, small batch pure tea, and Odditea. The barista was very nice and welcoming. The store is small which means there is no available seats, but it is same as some shops in the downtown. I ordered the following; -Pistachio Strawberry Matcha 5/5 The drink was very refreshing, well balanced between the strawberry, matcha and pistachio. OMG! I could taste the three flavors all together. For sure, I will order this drink again. - Champion Milk Tea 4 /5 Champion Milk Tea was the award winners of Taiwan Milk tea festival in two consecutive years. The drink was kind of light for me. It is good but for next time, I will pass and try another drink. Their Boba had soft texture and perfect amount of chewiness. Overall, we had unique and refreshing drinks, in addition to great and fast service. I will go back for sure and try more drinks. read more
Was in Taiwan over the New Year's and tried to go to this tea shop but lines were too long. So months later, I settled for the Pasadena version. Had the #2 most popular drink - Yuzu Osmanthus at 25% sweetness, normally comes in 50%. It also has the nice Osmanthus jelly which is smooth and slightly chewy... an addictive jelly! I'm not usually in Pasadena but made my way out here just to try this boba spot out, did not disappoint. We arrived just as they're opening and there wasn't much of a line. After studying the menu and finally ordering there was probably about 10 people after us on a Friday afternoon. Eddie was so sweet and made our first visit pleasant. Loved that they had 3 options of samples to try from, held in insulated canisters. Champion Milk Tea -subtle depth of oolong tea paired well with cream foam. Regular sweetness wasn't too sweet. Yuzu Osmanthus - perfect amount of tart and fragrant osmanthus. Regular sweetness was a cup of diabetes. I personally would reorder this in quarter sweetness. Golden Buddha Silk Boba - tea is not as strong as Champion Milk Tea, bobarista did note that to us when we ordered. Still good milk tea. We opted out for Coconut Almond Jelly instead of boba. Almond jelly isn't too strong in almond flavor but paired well, not over powering. Wintermelon Lemon -lemon seemed too overpowering. Very very tangy. Pistachio Strawberry Matcha -everything paired well. Chunks of stawberry from puree and fresh pistachio grounded up added tons of texture, which I love. Matcha flavor still shines through. read more

I had a few people raving about this place but I also heard mixed reviews as well. The thing about SoCal is, you have to be really good for your boba to stand out. Odd one out unfortunately didn't make the cut for me. I ordered three drinks: Yuzu Osmanthus, golden Buddha with silk boba, and Hokkaido soba. They're all ver different in terms of flavors but none of them were good enough for me to think "wow I can't wait to go back." The tea itself tasted watered down. Maybe I got a bad batch? Who knows. My friends and I agreed that we preferred chi cha and Torotea in terms of the flavor of the tea. Location: it's in Pasadena which makes it less than ideal. Already off to a rough start because I'd prefer to get my boba from a place with free and abundant parking. read more
Customer service was 100/10!! I didn't catch the name, but he was AMAZzing!!! Such a sweetie!! lol so friendly and patient. Drinks were only ok IMO. For the price and the rewards they received, I was expecting SPECTACULAR! Walking inside the boba shop, I can smell that they used quality tea for their boba drinks. However, the tea flavor in our drinks were very weak. We tasted more milk than tea. I really wanted to like this place since they have coconut almond jelly. Sadly, we all loved the service, but not the drinks. We also didn't like the price lol we paid like $30 something for only 3 drinks. If it was super good then we wouldn't mind. Their champion milk tea was the best drink among three drinks we got, it had normal black tea flavor you'd get at any regular boba shop. The black rose milk tea was very watered down with almost no notes of rose, it was a total let down forsure. The yuzu osmanthus was pretty refreshing, but it was not my cup of tea, literally, it was my friend's drink lol. I would have drank that instead of my rose milk tea. But overall the drinks lack that tea flavor that's so important to any boba shop, unfortunately it is the odd one out and not in a good way :'( read more

This place was recently opened in Pasadena and I heard great things about it, so I wanted to check it out. The store is relatively small and is only for taking drinks to go, meaning there's no indoor/outdoor seating. The store itself is cute, a little small but I liked the decor and you can see the staff crafting the drinks from behind the counter. They had free samples to try and the cashier was really patient when we were deciding what to order. Pistachio Strawberry Matcha (3/5): I wasn't really a fan of this drink. They told me this was one of their popular seasonal drinks, but I thought it was just okay. I like all those things in the drink (pistachio, strawberry, and matcha) but I felt like the combination was too much going on. I like my drinks more on the simple side and this drink in particular was too much per sip. Champion Milk with Jasmine Silk Boba (3/5): I liked this drink better but it was anything amazing. The silk boba was good but I couldn't really taste the jasmine. Overall this place was okay and exceeded lower than my expectations. I think I enjoy simple milk tea drinks and I found that this one was too experimental for me. read more
So happy they opened a location closer to home! I used to drive out to Sawtelle from the 626 for their drinks, but now's it's so much more accessible! They have award winning teas, and a unique silk boba (similar to tea jellies at other places)! I really love that they only use the highest quality ingredients, but that's also reflected in the higher price tag. Parking is a big tough since it's in Pasadena! The cashier was very nice and patient with me when I was unable to decide what I want. They have samples of their drink in the front, but I think the description of their drink was overwhelming and confusing. Thank goodness the cashier was very patient and kind. Got the iron milk tea, and if you love roasted oolong milk tea this is for you. The roasted oolong flavor is so strong, but goes so nicely with the milk. read more

Their milk tea was great at 50% sweet and the silk boba they offer is one of my new favorite drink toppings. I love that there's enough to enjoy with every sip. If parking wasn't a hassle and a bit closer, I'd come more often. That said worth the try despite it being on the pricier side. It's the Pasadena tax tbh. Anyways, the drink lasted me all day! Even saved in the fridge, the silk boba still held its texture. It's a middle ground between mochi and boba with the texture of grass jelly or pudding. I need this topping in bulk!! read more
This is in downtown Pasadena. There's public parking garages for $1 for the first 90 minutes or street parking. This is a small shop where you stop by to order at the register. There's no seating inside. The cashier was friendly and it took about 10 minutes to get our drinks. I tried to be experimental and got the Pistachio Iron Buddha Milk Tea but it wasn't my favorite. There was a lot more pistachio chunks than I expected and I was expecting to taste the pistachio more. Next time, I definitely want to try something more classic. My friend got the Golden Buddha Milk Tea with Jasmine Silk Boba. It was BOMB! The silk bobs was great! The milk tea was perfectly sweet and creamy! read more
Came here at 9 pm and surprisingly they were still open. Got a few quick refresher drinks and loved it otw home from Pasadena. Yuzu Osmanthus - Pretty solid flavors. Got this was 25% sweetness and it was just right. Added some jellies too and solid flavors (5/5) Hokkaido with Jasmine Silk Boba - Really enjoyed this one. Flavor was light but overall it was good. Added jellies and it hit as well. (4.5/5) Solid spot to grab a few drinks. Apparently they are well known and I can see why. Prices are pricey though but at least quality is solid. read more
Award Winning Taiwan Milk Tea?? I have to try! Located in Old Town Pasadena and I think this location replaced One Zo. The shop is a bit small so there is no sitting area. I ordered the Golden Buddha Silk and everyday Ordinary Boba for my mom. Golden Buddha Silk-4/5, it was a bit milky for my liking but I really like the silk boba. Ordinary Boba- 4/5, this was pretty good. The pricing on the drinks is pricier than your usual boba shop so this was a splurge for me. They do offer samples as well, and it was the Yuzu Osmanthus. I will def order the Yuzu Osmanthus next time , it was light and refreshing. The staff is really friendly and helpful on deciding which drinks to get. Parking is either if you're lucky to find street parking or park in the parking structure for $1 for the first 2 hours. read more

I heard about this award-winning, famous milk tea from Taiwan, and jumped on the chance to try them when they opened here in Pasadena! I love how sleek the shop is - although small, I love how they utilized their space showcasing their rewards, glass to be able to see how the tea is made, and their merch. The front staff was very kind and let me know how their tea was made and their history. I was happy to see how many options they had on their menu, and to see so much tea I've never tried! I got the Champion Milk Tea and my partner got the Everyday Ordinary Boba. As the staff said, they focus on the quality of their tea compared to the toppings they add, and I can say confidently that their tea quality is amazing! I definitely will come back here again to try their other tea! read more
SOOO GOOOD! The perfect amount of milkiness to their milk tea. Also the jelly they use has a super chewy and addicting texture. I regret not getting larger size. Store is kinda small and definately more of a to go kinda of place but the drinks do come out fast. read more
