Hands down, the best boba spot in the Pasadena area. I consider myself somewhat of a boba connoisseur, having traveled wide and far in LA and Asia for the best cup of boba. OOO is from Taiwan (OG birthplace of boba) and many of their drinks have earned them awards at competitions. I can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients and purity of the tea. The golden Buddha silk boba drink was ridiculously good, though I'd recommend 25% sugar for those who prefer less sweetness. The silk boba texture is incredibly unique and satisfying to chew on, while not causing jaw tension like traditional boba. I also love the convenience of the online ordering system to skip the line. The store is quite small, more of a grab and go, but the drinks are SO worth a try! read more

Odd One Out Tea Pasadena - Oddinary milk tea with wintermelon silk boba, yuzu - Bubble Tea Near Me - Pasadena, California

Odd One Out is my favorite all-around boba spot, from their milk tea's to their fruit tea's. My Top 3: 1. Champion Milk Tea 2. Golden Buddha Silk Boba 3. Yuzu Osmanthus Would I come back again? YES YES YES !! Here's What I Got: Champion Milk Tea: ‣ 10/10 ‣ Creamy but still a strong tea flavor ! ‣ Boba was a solid 8/10. Slightly sweet, decent QQ Golden Buddha Silk Boba: ‣ 9/10 ‣ Iron Buddha tea !! Very earthy & strong ‣ Their silk boba !!! Yuzu Osmanthus: ‣ 9.5/10 ‣ SOOO refreshing ‣ Yuzu + Osmanthus = *chefs kiss* combination Blue Matcha: ‣ 6/10 ‣ There were clumps of matcha going up my straw...... ‣ Loved the lavender flavor, but it was very faint Wintermelon Lemon Store Interior: INCREDIBLY small, definitely just for grab-and-go. Location: Splat in the middle of Downtown Pasadena, so it's perfect to just grab a drink and walk around or even chill at a bench or tables! read more

I tried the tea for the first time in Sawtelle, so very excited for their new location opening Place is located right next to the public parking lot ($1 for the first 2 hrs). No seating inside, so would be grab n go orders. Service was good and friendly. Tea quality is really good. Champion Milk tea is their best seller and is my go to drink. I've also tried their Yuzu Osmanthus and the jasmine silk boba in the drink is addicting. The pistachio iron milk tea had grounded up pistachio inside and gave the additional nutty flavor to the tea. All drinks I would suggest to order 25% sweet. And their menu is very funny that less ice is exactly 5 pieces lol read more

Just ordered from this place and it was pretty good! The service is good and fast as well. I will definitely come back!

*** Not a fan. Don't recommend pistachio strawberry matcha if you want an ice cold drink *** This location is much smaller than the Sawtelle location. There is no place to sit and wait for your drinks. It's kind of cramped to go to the side and wait. They might be a bit under staffed. Even with 3 or 4 people behind the counter, the cashier had to stop taking orders to help brew tea and organize orders. Gave Odd One Out a try again because I couldn't remember my past experience. Tried a pistachio strawberry matcha ($8) this time. I didn't enjoy this drink. I grabbed my drink by the top and didn't realize how warm the bottom of the drink. Even after mixing and letting the ice melt a little, it was not a good experience to expect an ice cold drink but it was really warm. After 5 minutes my ice was almost all melted and luke warm. Not really sure I tasted pistachio in the drink. Definitely tasted the strawberry bits and matcha though. Ended up tossing my drink because I wanted something cold and didn't want to drive around looking for ice to add. read more

We went during soft opening, it replaced the old OneZo location. I got Oolong tea with Tea Jelly, perfect ice and sugar. Loved it. It's not too sweet, very refreshing, the tea flavor spot on without being too bitter. Tea Jelly is now my favorite just behind Boba, it has that chewiness texture of boba, but with tea flavor. Service was ok, I expected a little bit more from Soft Opening. The place is newly opened, they open till 8pm by the time I went. Inside has minimal decoration with vibrant color, brings you the comfortable feeling during summer or hot weather. read more

Great to have a good boba spot in old town pas. I have heard a lot about Odd One Out and I think it's decent. Its def one of the better spots in Pasadena area. Their milk teas are a bit creamier than I would like but the tea flavor itself is good. Just wish there was more tea flavor over milk flavor. I'd come again if I was in the Pasadena area. They do have samples of some drinks to try which I loved being able to try before ordering and staff was super friendly. It's a small shop, no seating inside or anything but very clean. read more

The Sawtelle location popped off last year and a lot of friends recommended it, so I was excited to try without the wait! Came by the soft opening twice to solidify my impression. It's a tiny shop and rarely had anyone in the several times I passed by it (I work out a block away). They have 2 samples of their most popular drinks set up: -Champion milk tea (red oolong milk tea with cream top) with wintermelon silk boba -yuzu osmanthus tea with jasmine silk boba When I tried the champion milk tea sample it was not that good, and tasted off, but when I ordered it (25% sweet with oat milk, with the regular cream top that was missing from the sample), it was REALLY GOOD! I liked the yuzu osmanthus. I think since I got the jasmine silk boba, that flavor overpowered any osmanthus flavor. The silk boba is a cross between a jelly and a mochi. It's an interesting texture and I do like the jasmine infusion. Overall impression of their 2 most popular drinks was great. They are pretty pricy for a standard size, about $8+ with milk substitution and topping. Parking is $1 for 2 hours in the parking structure on the block, I believe it's called schoolhouse. read more

Checked out this small boba shop because my friend heard from her friends that it was really good since it won a couple awards. Parking was a hassle and we could only secure a spot in a parking garage where we paid $11... for less than 45 minutes being there. There was a bit of a line out the door but it went by quick. It's a really small interior so it was crammed when people had to wait inside for their drinks. Idk if I got the wrong drink but I was really disappointed as it tasted like any other typical chain boba place like its boba time. I got the yuzu osmanthus drink because they gave out samples of it. The sample somehow tasted better than my actual drink. I'm sad because I've heard good reviews so maybe it's just the drink I ordered? But on the menu, my drink was one of the more popular options. For the inconvenience of the location and my drink, I don't think I'd come back. read more

Odd One Out Tea Pasadena - Yuzu osmanthus - Bubble Tea Near Me - Pasadena, California

A new boba shop that has only 3 locations in the US (all located in the LA area) and one flagship location in Taipei. One of the few places where they make delicious fruit teas with unique flavors. Exterior: The closest parking are two parking structures (Schoolhouse Parking Facility or One Colorado Parking) for a short distance walk. Interior: Small with no seating. This implies a quick and convenient pick up before going to your next destination. Service: Overall, polite and patient for customers that may not be familiar with their selection. Drinks: 1. Wintermelon Lemon (5/5) 2. Yuzu Osmanthus (5/5) With an extension of their hours from 6PM to 9PM for Friday - Sunday, try this place to get away from the monotony of milk teas and regular boba. read more

I have been eyeing for this boba place to open so I finally got it try it out on Sunday 2/2! - when we got there at around 12:15, there was no line but when we were done ordering, the line was out the door! I do recommend to come early! The cashier was super informative and helpful when it came to explaining every single tea base and whether if it was on the stronger side or milder and sweeter side. what we got: - yuzu osmanthus w/ wintermelon silk boba ($7.50) - champion milk tea (red oolong milk tea) w/ wintermelon silk boba ($9.00) - the tea quality was so good and also very fragrant. The silk boba has texture between jelly and boba and it is so addicting to chew. It is definitely on the pricier side but we think it's worth it and will stop by every time we're in the area! parking: schoolhouse garage - 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. $1 for the first two hours! read more

Ok sorry, I don't tend to give reviews lower than 4 stars, maybe I have to give them another chance! But I think their prices are a bit too high even with high quality and strong tea drinks. Chapresso uses the same pressed tea method with tea flavor for less $$ and toro tea's variety and tapiochi outshine odd one out's menu and silk boba. My drink was 30% sweet but was still too sweet that it covered the taste of the tea. There is minimal seating inside, but workers were nice and they had samples to try. Though again, Toro and Chapresso do the same thing, and they're both located in Pasadena. Considering the high standard and variety of drinks in the SGV, I don't think this place stands out for me. At the end of the day though, go do the judging for yourself!! read more

I visited Odd One Out Tea this past Saturday with a few friends, and overall, it was a great experience! The staff was friendly and offered samples of both the Champion Milk Tea and the Yuzu Osmanthus with their jasmine silk boba. The silk boba is unique--not as crunchy as agar boba but not as chewy as regular boba. The Yuzu Osmanthus was fragrant and refreshing, but next time I would probably go for 25% sweetness. The Champion Milk Tea was also really good--strong tea flavor with a nice aroma that wasn't oversteeped, a nice balance of milk and tea. I ended up ordering the Wintermelon Lemon with wintermelon silk boba instead, and it did not disappoint! The combination of the sweetness from the wintermelon and the tartness from the lemon was spot-on. My total for two drinks came to about $17, so it's on the pricier side, but honestly, the quality of the tea and the silk boba make it totally worth it. Odd One Out is located right next to Beard Papa's and Blue Bottle Coffee, and there's a parking garage nearby that charges $1 for 2 hours. read more

Odd One Out Tea Pasadena - Wintermelon Lemon with Wintermelon Silk Boba (regular) - Bubble Tea Near Me - Pasadena, California

I am a HUGE fan of Odd One Out. Dare I say it's the best boba shop in LA? Yes in my opinion. You genuinely can't go wrong with anything on their menu. They use super high quality teas, have multiple milk options, AND they make their toppings in house. We ordered 6 drinks to try and every single one of them were bangers. The teas have such a strong aroma and flavor. My personal favorites are the Iron Buddha and the Jasmine. The Iron Buddha as a deep tea taste and the Jasmine is very aromatic and floral. I get 0% sugar which is perfect but I will say they gave us samples of drinks at 80% and it wasn't sweet at all. An honorable mention is the Hokkaido Soba -- it's super unique and has the signature toffee flavor but it's definitely natural to the tea leaves rather than a syrup. When it comes to the toppings we tried the jasmine silk boba, winter melon silk boba, and coconut almond jelly. They were all sooooooo tasty but I would say my personal favorite is the jasmine silk boba. It's a mix of tapioca and agar so it has a super great texture and it's unlike any topping I've had before. It also has a really strong tea flavor. Because I genuinely believe that everything on this menu is tasty. It just depends on personal preference/what you're in the mood for. Ron was at the cashier helping us out while ordering. He took the time to answer all of our questions and you can tell that he's very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations for drink pairings and toppings. So I assume that Odd One Out takes the time to make sure their employees are experts. I would say the closest boba shop to compare is Chi Cha San Chen but the breadth of tea options + the unique toppings really pull Odd One Out on top of the rankings for me. The first time I had it was at the Sawtelle location and I can confidently say that this second location offers the same quality and tastiness of drinks. The store itself is very small with little standing room. They don't have any seating so it's a grab and go type of situation. They are located right next to the schoolhouse parking lot where parking is $1 for 2 hours. Odd One Out is amazing and I will be coming back time after time. read more

Odd One Out truly epitomizes its namesake. It is uniquely different from its other boba shop counterparts. We went to the soft opening on 2/1/2025 after a wonderful experience at Sawtelle. We ordered 6 drinks amongst 4 people because the menu is so interesting. The place of origin of the teas are noted and they specialize in milk tea. Their special topping is silk boba which is tapioca flour and agar powder. The silky boba is chewy QQ and infused with jasmine and winter melon. I'm not going to even list our drinks because all of them are amazing and if that's the sampling we did, I would imagine everything else on the menu is delicious. Come experience it for yourself! Ron, the gentleman taking the order, was very knowledgeable and he explained all the drinks and toppings. Very good service. Parking is via structure or surface parking. It's located in Old Town Pasadena. No seating available. Please come visit and create your own experience. read more

I love Odd One Out! Their Silk Boba is sooo good and different to what I'm used to at boba places. It's super soft and just slightly chewy - honestly you need to just try it to see what I mean. My current favorite drink is their Yuzu Osmanthus. Their quality of tea here is great and this flavor specifically is so refreshing to me. The staff is really helpful and they were really patient with my family and I when we first came here. Even though the line is usually long it goes by fairly quickly. The inside of the shop is pretty small so if there's a long line it's sometimes better to just wait outside for your drink. Definitely one of my go-to boba spots in Pasadena! read more

I tried the ancient puer milk tea which came with winter melon silk jelly, I don't know if I've seen this drink on the menu previously. Dropped by here while visiting downtown Pasadena and found it to be a cool neat little shop for boba. I found Odd One Out at Sawtelle first and thankfully they opened a location closer to me in Pasadena last year. I have LOVED Odd One Out and have gotten boba probably once a week. The wintermelon silk is AMAZING and the tea is authentic and you can taste it unlike other boba shops that are full of sugar. Sadly, the last 3 times I've gotten boba here I have noticed the quality has significantly gone down. I think they changed the recipe of the wintermelon silk boba because it does not taste the same! They also changed the lids from sealed lid to a plastic lid that is too big for the boba straw making the straw drown in the drink if you get a 22 oz. Please Odd One Out, keep to your traditional standards, please do not change anything in the recipe, the OG was AMAZING. read more

My friend and I walked her before dance class because Old Town is quite busy. The staff was really nice and the decor is cute, however, my friend and I were extremely disappointed with the milk tea. We both agreed that the sample batch of the champion milk tea tasted good, so it convinced us to get it. Once we finally tried our drinks, they didn't taste good and the drinks are so expensive. Definitely will not come back as I prefer the other boba places around. read more

Steep Thoughts: Florence's Quest for (Her) Perfect Black Milk Tea Black milk tea: 1.5/2. I got the Iron Buddha, 50% sweet, less ice. This is an oolong milk tea with a nice roasted, earthy, and slightly nutty flavor. Although it's a little too floral for me, this is probably because I accidentally chose oolong rather than black tea. The sweetness level was perfect for my taste. Other drinks: 1/1. The drink selection is carefully curated with green, oolong, and black pure vs milk teas; "odditea" specialty drinks; and a handful of other drinks. They offer free samples, which is rare and much appreciated, especially because their drinks are quite pricey. Ambiance: 0.5/1. This is a small shop in old town Pasadena with just a couple of chairs by the window to sit and wait for drinks. Parking is pretty difficult and is basically all paid street or garage parking. Service: 1/1. Order at the counter. The workers are very helpful in explaining the differences between each tea's flavor. Drinks come out relatively quickly even when the shop is busy. Total: 4/5 read more

I love the drinks here and service is really nice! Be sure to park in the nearby parking garage because it's really hard to find street parking around here. I love the yuzu osmanthus tea here with their silken jelly! The drink is citrusy and refreshing and the jelly has an interesting texture that is bouncey but not super chewy. If I were to compare it to another boba store, the jelly is pretty similar to the quality of torotea's. I like how they usually have samples of their tea, and even for the mochi! Found this place after watching a YouTube documentary on the boba industry. After seeing the owners' attention to quality, I had to try this place out. Here's the drinks I tried: Champion Milk Tea - Decent. A little less creamy than I anticipated but I liked the tea flavor. I just wish that the tea were a little stronger, but I'll give them credit for being somewhat more tea-forward than some competitors when it comes to milk tea. I think if you get this less/mini sweet and add boba, it'd probably make for a more enjoyable drink. Grapefruit Oolong - Also decent. They gave me a generous amount of grapefruit pulp, which was nice. The drink starts off a bit bitter from all the grapefruit pulp, but as you drink more, you taste more of the sweetness. The tea didn't leave much of an impression on me, as most of the flavor came from the grapefruit and sugar. Not bad, but I don't think I'd get it again. Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba - This one was the winner for me. After trying a sampler, I ordered this one mini sweet and it was just right. If I stumble upon this place again, this would be my go-to order. Overall, I'd rate it 7/10. For award-winning boba, I was expecting a little more from this place. There's definitely worse places than this, but ChiCha San Chen and Torotea still remain my favorite boba shops in terms of tea quality. I'd say give it a shot if you're curious. read more

I would say this is probably the best boba tea option in old town Pasadena. However, I don't think this place is unique or amazing enough for me to drive out there, pay for parking, just to get a cup of tea. Odd One Out, like many new boba shops that are popping up, advertise that they use machines similar to espresso machines to brew their tea. It seems like they've also won some sort of tea brewing award in Taiwan, hence the long line when they first opened up. The shop itself is quite small, with standing room of probably 10 people max. It can get quite cramped, especially since the drink delivery is a bit on the slower side when I visited, since they have to brew each order on the machine and it does take some time. I liked the options they had, and the staff was very friendly and made sure our orders were exactly as we had requested. I think I would find myself back here again if I happen to be in old town Pasadena and craving boba. read more

Nice sampling of seasonal flavors so you can decide. Shiso silk boba is like grass jelly. Nice refreshing herbal flavor!

We first tried Odd One Out Tea at the LA Smorgasburg several years back. They had some interesting flavors that were memorable. We've also been to their spot in Sawtelle but that's quite a drive so we weren't able to visit frequently. It's nice having a location in Pasadena now as that's a bit more accessible for us. If you're a tea lover, I would definitely give this place a try. If you're looking for super sweet and fruity boba...this may not be the place for you. When drinking their drinks, we could tell that the tea base was pretty good. I haven't tried everything yet as I like to stick with what I like. I can say that I'm reminded of how much I enjoy their Champion Milk Tea and the Golden Buddha every time I drink it. Plus, their silk boba is different from the usual tapioca balls found at many other tea spots. The wifey generally enjoys the non-milk teas like the wintermelon lemon. As I mentioned, some of their flavors may be a little different, but give it a shot! You might like that silk boba more than the traditional boba... read more
