The Caesar salad was very flavorful the beet and burrata was way over dressed and soggy. I had the special which was steamed mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. I liked the mussels and the sauce was spicy but it was so runny that the noodles held no flavor. Our other plate was the rigatoni and lamb sausage. Sauce was better but the lamb sausage was not good at all. Flavor was off and were not eaten. It was as if they used really cheap cuts for the meatballs. Ambiance is nice , wait staff was very friendly. Price like most nicer places was pricey. I heard that the first visit was wonderful but my trip was a miss. Bland, incompetent and overpriced. Our order to go sat on the counter for 15 minutes while they claimed that the kitchen was working on it. No offer to make up for letting our food grow cold, of course. Their bolognese was nothing but a few tasteless crumbs of meat under a pile of pasta, with no sauce of any kind. The Classic Bolognese was the most flavorful and moist (which sounds strange when describing pasta sauce) that I've had. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. The restaurant was busy because of high school prom, but they maintained a high level of service. The Crispy Polenta was a recommendation of our waitress and outstanding! This restaurant was super cute and I loved how it was decorated and designed. It kind of felt like a higher end restaurant (confirmed by the menu prices). I came with the bf for a weeknight dinner. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. Our waitress was good about coming to check up on us and take our order. I ordered the fettuccine portabella and cremini mushroom pasta. I was really disappointed. The dish came out the the presentation was nice. However, the pasta was very overdone and a little soggy. It was slightly hard to eat because I would twirl my fork and the noodles would break. The flavors were good but as a pasta dish, the overdone noodles were a dealbreaker for me. It was very uncomfortable here, temperature wise. It was very hot in there. I felt like I was sweating. Very uncomfortable experience. Flies were in there as well and I couldn't enjoy my food in peace due to that. Over priced for their "Italian" dishes. The sausage in the penne was very dry and not cooked the way it was supposed to. They brought 2 of our dishes out in wrong order. 2 dishes came that we DIDN'T order (and a 3rd went to take next to us that they didn't order) They asked for the salt & pepper shaker back about half way thru the meal (they only have one?) I've been spending a lot of time in the Tarrytown area lately and so it only stands to reason that I'd start trying the local establishments. Last night, after a stressful day at work, my guy and i went to 68 Degrees to have a nice dinner. The restaurant is a cute little space, with sort of a mid century modern look about it. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. We started with the calamari, which was lightly battered and fried and had a nice citrus tang to it, even before splashing it with a bit of lemon. It was served with a kicky little red sauce and some aioli. Both were flavorful and worked well with the calamari. I had the linguini and oyster mushrooms, which is served with an egg yolk, adding to the creaminess of the Parmesan cream sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms had a nice meaty quality to them. There was a sprinkling of green onion to make it sing. It was reported to me that the chicken parm was also a winner. My only dislike was the brut rose, but hey, they can't all be winners. I look forward to coming back and trying the ravioli of the day. read more

Meh. I really wanted to like this place. Here's the break down: 4 stars for cute place 5 stars for service 2 stars for food I got the Caesar salad, cheese plate and ravioli. Everything needed salt and flavor Caesar salad-- I have no idea what this was. It had some weird oily and greasy dressing and had a few pieces of whole romaine lettuce unceremoniously thrown on a plate. I couldn't even finish this. Needed salt desperately. Cheese plate-- meh. Something was missing. Probably the most boring cheese plate I had. Ravioli-- terrible undercooked. It was hard and for some reason, some pieces tasted like dish water. Needed salt and flavor. Very bland and also greasy. So, I'm never coming back. $70 before tip (though I had two glasses of wine). Total disappointment. Magnolia Cafe has better food. Seriously. read more

68 Degrees Kitchen does a lot of things really well and a lot of other things not so well. The atmosphere is great, especially the outside area weather permitting. Their tiramisu is excellent and the service overall is really good. Their food is a mixed bag. First problem is that they overcook their pasta in my opinion. The flavor of their Fettuccine with Portobello Mushrooms and Their Penne with Spicy House-Made Lamb Sausage pasta dishes are really good, while the Spaghetti Bolognese was meh. Their Hatch Green Chile Stew is quite bland until you take a bite of the fantastic flame grilled bread. The Flash Fried Calamari is lack luster while their Mac n Cheese Balls are pretty good. Their Cesar Salad was peculiar to me. They serve 5 or 6 leaves of uncut romaine with the dressing and croutons on top. They couldn't have cut it up ahead of time? It'd be one thing if the purpose of serving it this way was for a nice presentation, but it looked like exactly what it sounds like. If they gave you something better than a butter knife to cut it with, maybe it would have made for a much easier cutting experience. They did not and it was an unnecessary pain to cut up and share. I'll finish with a positive, for Austin, a.k.a. the small plate capital of Texas, where it seems more and more difficult to find a reasonably priced meal that will actually leave you satiated, 68 Degrees Kitchen's pricing and portions do not follow that model, thankfully so. read more

What an amazing experience from the ease of parking, the greeting at the door, the table on the patio was cozy and comfortable, the menu, the wine list-all exceptional. The best part of the experience was the service. Warm and friendly, knowledgable about all dishes, made excellent suggestions and we never waited for anything. Paisley (sp?), took amazing care of us even with her broken ankle. She made the meal! We ordered a variety of dishes and all of them were perfectly prepared and deep with flavor. Took an out-of-town friend here and we had a great time on a Saturday night. We had reservations for 8:15 p.m. and the dining room was probably about 3/4 full. We shared the salad special which was fresh burrata, arugula and figs. That burrata was melt-in-your-mouth smooth. Eyeing a neighboring tables pasta, I decided on the Fettucine with Portabella and Cremini Mushrooms and my friend had the classic Bolognese. My mushroom pasta was the perfect amount and perfectly earthy. The sauce was luxurious but not too fatty. My friend's bolognese was good as well, but my mushroom pasta was better. Good service all around. It'd be nice to have dinner on the patio when it's not 100 degrees outside. Price points are reasonable. My wife and I just had the pleasure of dining here, and I was compelled to write this glowing and superlative review of this small but stylish Italian bistro in Tarrytown. We started with a not so Italian bowel of hatch green chili soup and a plate of calamari as appetizers. Both were full on flavor and right up there with 5 star restaurants with the exception of 5-6 dollars less per entry from the vaulted eateries. Moving into the main courses , my spouse opted for the Ravioli and she commented again after tasting that this was right on par with the aforementioned finer dining that we have been to. I chose the Meatball with pasta and it again was in my opinion a wonderful choice full of flavor and you could taste the chefs choice of exceptional ingredients and individual care with the dishes composition. My wife's wine selection complemented her meal helped along by our attentive and knowledgeable wait person. I recommend that if your looking for a exceptional dining experience in a low key restaurant, then try 68 degrees. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I grew up in New England for 22 years, so between my friend's Italian grandmother's family recipes or spending a night in Boston's north end- my standards for Italian food are pretty high. Until last night I honestly hadn't been to an Italian restaurant in Austin because Italian cuisine in Texas seemed strange and out of place to me. But I was very wrong! I really enjoyed our dinner at 68 Degrees Kitchen last night and have been looking forward to writing this 5 star review. I'm not sure how I had never heard of 68 degrees, but my date suggested we go for dinner last night after he had a great experience a few weeks ago. I think the level of deliciousness is obvious by the amount of food we ordered- we split a bottle of Pinot Grigio, had the polenta (highly recommend!!!) and bread for apps, chicken parm and yellowfin tuna pasta for main courses, and then the tiramisu and cookies for dessert. I'm a firm believer that chicken parm can either make or break an italian restaurant and 68 Degrees Kitchen nailed it! Overall, it was a well crafted meal and I'm confident you'll enjoy it as well. A couple of side notes: the yellowfin tuna pasta is a tad spicy, and their happy hour ends at 6 (We just missed it!). We love this place! We call in to order pick up and the ladies who have answered the phone recently ( 2 different women) were so sweet and accommodating! They both had a great attitude, didn't rush while I was ordering and were just good natured people. It's refreshing. Not to mention the food is always delicious! Finding an Italian food place to eat in Austin, Texas while we were in town for a baby shower was adventures. I checked the Open Table app "clicked Italian" and they gave 68 Degrees Kitchen a 5 star rating. Checked on Yelp and it was given 4 star. Hopefully my 5 star review will boost their Yelp rating. My husband and I thought we should try it out. We were asked as we walked in whether we had a reservation or not and of course we did not. We were accommodated at a small table in-doors on a very hot Saturday evening in Austin. It was early so they were able to seat us before their evening reservation guests were to arrive. We were over dressed for this casual but very inviting establishment. The interior is modern decor and well put together. As you walk in and wait to be seated, there is a small bar table with seats facing the parking lot where folks can sip wine and wait for their table. They also have a small bar in the main dining room with a few bar stools that face their limited wine menu. We started with a glass of Pinot Noir and an order of the Mac and Cheese Balls which are fried with mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan cheese. We also called in "cheat night" and ordered La Brea Bread which was served with Texas olive oil and a small portion of olives which I could not eat because they were marinated in something with peppers. After explaining my food allergy to our server, we both decided on the Grilled Trout which accompanied sautéed corn and summer squash, and an amazing tomato basil salsa (no peppers included.) I loved the presentation, flavor, and the uniqueness of this dish. It was simply amazing. I do recommend this place and will hopefully have a chance to visit again when in Austin. read more

The Beets and Burrata was my favorite dish dotted with large lumps of burrata, marcona almonds and fresh mint. Hubs and I shared the Crispy Duck Leg and sides of grilled polenta and sautéed spinach. It's perfect for those moments you want to enjoy with your significant other or group of family/friends in a setting conducive for good conversation and food. The menu is simple but yet unique. I've tried at least 4 of their pasta entrees and was impressed with the taste, quality and freshness of the ingredients. The olive oil and garlic in their spaghetti and meatballs shines through. What a great experience! My husband and I had been eyeing out this new restaurant down the road for quite some time, but had yet to stop in. Tonight we decided to stop in on a whim, for our date night, and we couldn't have been more pleased! My husband and I both ordered the mixed green salad for $7.75 each, then my husband ordered the grilled salmon for $18 and I ordered the nightly special of Mussels for $21. Both meals were incredibly well prepared and tasted amazing! We will definitely be back, as we are happy to have a great new restaurant just down the road. Was in town for Spring Break w/ the kids (during SXSW - no, we stayed away). Fabulous surpise on the last night of our visit. Close to the water/ spring, hence the name related to steady state year -round temperature. Though view of the water is partially obscured by trees, at night you can see the lights on opposite shore reflecting on the lake. Food was great! They have large and mid-size portions for folks large and mid-size ;-) To start try their mac & cheese balls - I won't normally indulge in them elsewhere but did and lived to enjoy it!! End with their Amy's Ice cream topped chocolate cake - very good. Waitstaff was wonderful. Our waiter works at a middle ? school or junior college during the day - a great and calming influence on our table, subliminally, perhaps unknowingly he was able to get us to relax, de-stress. read more

Two sisters Joan and Marion Gillcrist recently opened the doors to 68 Degrees Kitchen. They collectively own Andiamo! in Santa Fe and La Traviata in Austin. In addition to whipping up delicious bites they also brew coffee, pour beer and have a fine wine menu. I met up with Julie B. (T.), Michelle C. and Shelley L. for a ladies night at 68 Degrees Kitchen and was impressed with this quaint new restaurant. The menu is thoughtful and the cuisine we tried was delicious. I liked the wine selection which offers up 6 oz pours, 9 oz pours and also sells by the bottle. The special salad was excellent, a burrata salad with Texas beets, marcona almonds drizzled in light honey. The Crispy Polenta is served in a rich gorgonzola sauce and has rosemary & bread crumbs. It was a smaller portion for an appetizer but made up for it with its rich full flavor. Their Bruschetta was my favorite dish! The grilled bread has seasonal toppings and this lovely day it had cream goat cheesed topped with fresh scrumptious figs. The Mixed Baby Greens was delightful with zesty lemon, walnuts, pecorino Romano and light olive oil. I tried a couple of bites from two of the pastas and while they were pretty good I preferred the appetizers and salads. We ended the meal by sharing their Profiteroles with Amy's Ice Cream topped with dark chocolate. Charming, open and delicious new place. read more

I love Italian food, and I have a special spot in my heart for La Traviata. So I think I'll enjoy 68 Degrees since this is the new restaurant from the owners of La Traviata. And spoiler alert! I freaking like this place! I glanced over the menu and recognized an appetizer from La Traviata--the crispy polenta. Seeing as how I hadn't had it in a few years, I ordered that (yup, I remember it cause I loved it) and the prosciutto + endive salad thing. The polenta was as good as I remembered. Rich, creamy sauce with a polenta cake that was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The prosciutto and endive was also good--heavy hand of prosciutto but I'm not complaining! For entrees, I had the spaghetti bolognese, which I didn't think was that good at first. The more bites I took, the more I like it. Maybe the flavor (to me) was a tad subtle at first or heck, maybe it was the wine but the more I ate the more I took in extra depth of flavor. By the time I finished my bowl of pasta, I wanted more. If only... I also wanted more of my friend's homemade ravioli... Ended the evening with a tiny bit more wine and some profiteroles, and they were delightful! I went to this restaurant for the first time yesterday with a friend who invited me out. Frankly I had never heard of it and passed it by probably hundreds of times without giving it a second thought. I really dig the fact that the customers here are of a mature age. It shows me that you are not alone in the city of mostly millennials. Our waiter was a darling even though there were a few spotty issues such as no refills on the water and the first time around the dish serve to me was not cooked through and through but that wasn't his fault. I ordered the lamb sausage penne and a tomato cream-based sauce. I think the nomenclature should be changed it wasn't a sausage it was little pieces of lamb rolled into meatball shapes and there were only four of them in the dish not exactly a protein rich dinner. While it was tasty I wouldn't say that it was oh I've got to come back here and order that again. The Moltepuchiano was simply divine. read more
