Take this review with a grain of salt because this is my first visit. The good: the staff is fantastic, polite, professional and very welcoming! The Spicy Pesto hot sandwich was very good. The meh: I have tried all the soups besides the chowders. They all tasted like they were made from reconstituted meat, or something to that effect. You know, that out of a can aftertaste. That was the biggest disappointment to me. They also do not have an option of just a clear broth soup like the classic chicken soup. All of the soups on the menu are either chowders or seem to have a thickening agent like starch added to them. I make a lot of soups. I come from a culture that eats soups with lunch and dinner and maybe my standards are too high but I feel like I was let down. I ended up ordering chili which came without cheese or sour cream. I was not offered that as an option either. Panera is hands down better. Way better, except for the chili. So for the cleanliness, the staff and a very good pesto sandwich it is a solid 4 star but not more. read more

Have several different soups, with vegetarian and vegan options. They give as many samples as you want before you decide. Service was fast and very friendly. They have a number of different teas and juice, in addition to regular soda. My party only had soup and drinks. The soup was delish! The table next to us had salads and they looked very appetizing. What a great meal! My family and I stopped in for a late lunch. This was my first time at a Zoup!. The staff was courteous and helpful. We were offered tastings of the myriad of soups offered - all of them were amazing and choosing just one proved difficult. I settled on a cup of Loaded baked potato soup and half of a Turkey bacon club sandwich. The food exceeded all of my expectations. Everything was fresh and served hot. The manager came by and asked about our experience and seemed genuinely interested. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Confusing pricing, so-so food and a lot of yelling is how I would describe our experience. Could not get a straight answer on the "pick two" menu, so I'm not sure if we were charged correctly, but $25 for 2 soups and 2 half sandwiches without beverages was expensive for the experience of sitting at a drafty table and listening to the staff yell the whole time we were eating. (In their defense I think they were told to loudly announce when they were restocking hot soup or hot bread, but the effect was not pleasant. Put up a sign saying how often you are baking/making fresh if you really want me to know.) On the plus side soup samples are free, which was good since I had to try 4 before I found one I liked. Their signature lobster bisque which sounded good did not taste fresh, so I kept sampling. Will try Zoe's kitchen next door when we are in the area again. read more

The rating is based on poor customer service. I ordered online and I arrived later to ensure it was ready. When I arrived my ordered was not ready and then I was asked to pay. I had to let the owner know I already paid. Then when I checked my ordered when I got back two items were missing. The owner was there and handled my order and I expect much better service. I frequent the other location which he advised he owned as well and never had these issues. Poor attention to detail and customer service. When I called the store and got the owner he refunded my items, however this was a extreme inconvenience as the items I ordered were not for me. I don't live close and coming back to the store is not a option. read more

I was visiting Delaware staying at the Comfort Inn, and was searching for somewhere to eat close. During my search I came across Zoup being a soup person I give it a try and was meet by Eric who took my order, how pleasant and humble he was, I was offered the different soups to try which made my selection very hard being that every soup was delicious and savory my selection was the chicken pot pie soup with a warm toasty sandwich. The immediate impression is a typical sandwich shop. I've only been to this location once, but after my time there I will not be returning. The first thing I saw were the various styles of soups which were pretty good. I ordered the maple and bacon sandwich and the spicy bison chili. I wasn't overly impressed with either seeing as it cost about $25 for my wife and I to have a side of soup and a half sandwich. The cashier had just finished eating something and while she was ringing us up she had her thumb digging out crumbs from back in her mouth and simultaneously tried to keep a conversation with her thumb in her mouth. And then she proceeded to suck whatever was left on her thumb. When we sat down, it was difficult to find a clean table. I don't enjoy writing bad reviews and I typically don't. This was my first experience with Zoup. Right next door to a Moe's. Ironically, I expect that both Moe's and Zoup are owned by the same company based on the "Welcome to Zoup!" vs. The welcome to Moe's. I was asked if this was my first time, it was I responded. They told me about the different soups, salads and sandwiches they had and that there were samples available to try. I read the entire menu and decided on the bread bowl with the "spicy" black bean chili, (it wasn't and I didn't even need a glass of water). It was good black bean soup and probably would quite have called it chili as it was on the thin side. Portion size basically you get their smallest size soup portion inside a hollowed out (definitely a sour dough boule') which is probably not the best for certain soup pairings. I got a twang with each bite of bread and chili. It was more than I could eat and requested a lid and was given something that looked more like a salad plate lid. I will say that a nice touch was that the bread bowl lid had been nicely toasted so I could enjoy it with the offered butter or margarine. All in all, I would go back to this fast food restaurant. I think a 3 is very fair and reasonable. Customer service alone would be about a 4. Food quality ok. They claim all natural ingredients are only used but all ingredients "can be modified in name to be natural" it's not organic. I am a former Wendy's ASM and love their food because it is really fresh for fast food, and I was a summer camp food director, way better than the reheated stuff at restaurant chains. I would say possibly a healthier alternative to McD. I like the overall experience better than by Panera. read more
