Visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon for dinner and took advantage of their significant outdoor seating overlooking the Delaware river. Outdoor seating was available in both a large covered area where they also have entertainment of the weekends, but also on the deck---many tables on the deck also had umbrellas. Service was both prompt and welcoming. Tried a number of appetizers including their twisted pretzel, steamed shrimp, and the hush puppies. Pretzel served with a peppery pimiento spread---nice kick; steamed shrimp were on the larger size served with traditional cocktail sauce; and hush puppies with actual corn served with a creamy mustard sauce---interesting twist to hush puppies served with butter. Our one dinner option was their jerk chicken salad and there was a nice spiciness to it---worth a try. Lastly, tried one of their specialty margaritas and it did not disappoint---plenty for two! read more

We went to Dolly Spankers today for brunch. Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious, weather was perfect on the deck, and cocktails were great! Alayna our waitress was the best! She checked on us multiple times throughout our visit and was very friendly. My only recommendation would be to add Aperol to your bar. I asked for an Aperol Spritz and was told the bar didn't have it. It's a pretty popular brunch drink! Would review the visit as 9/10 read more

There is ALOT going on here! This is the old Crabby Dicks but under a new name. The menu is a bit different but still features a good variety of seafood. There are some things I'd have again and some things I would not. The mussels and sides were amazing. The wings and Brussels had an interesting flavor I would say. And some of the mains were good, others lacked. I went to a staff happy hour and was impressed with how well the staff handled such a big group. They were as timely as they could be and remembered everything! The only problem we had is that dishes and empty plates were not being cleared at all! So a pile up happened. We sat with a server named Jessica. All of her suggestions were right on , her personality was unmatched, it was good to see such a happy and energetic staff on such a busy day! We came here for a quick lunch. We sat at the bar and Emily was our bartender. We had the hush puppies, the hotdog club, and the chicken schnitzel sandwich. The atmosphere is super fun, even though there weren't many people. The decor is spot on for the area and being near the water. The sauce that comes with the hush puppies was delicious. It's a custom house sauce and it's just perfect. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was one of the best chicken cutlet sandwiches I had in the area, not pounded too thin, crispy on the outside and juicy and delicious on the inside. The hot dog club was surprisingly (in a great way) amazing! Since it was like lunch, we only drank iced tea, which was fresh brewed, and very good! Have been going there for years since Crabby Dicks days. Have never left there hungry or disappointed. Usually every couple of weeks ride on up from Dover and eat out on the deck, weather permitting -- nice date day for the wife and I. BUT - yesterday (7/25/26) changed everything!! First noticed the new menu -- many favorites were removed. Then noticed the prices jacked way up on some things -- (Bookmaker salad about 26$--really?? Never getting that again) Ordered onion rings for 10$ and got 4?? really? I ordered the Whiskey dip (had it often and enjoyed before) but it was thin, no onions, little cheese and bland meat. Wife got the Rockfish tacos (again, has had often) but they were thinly filled, strong fishy taste from very little fish and sparse toppings. Many of our other favorites were no longer available (Green tomatos, shrimp and avacado Po'boy, etc) In addition, the chips were good, as usual, but also sparse on the plate--small portion. We really liked going there for weekend lunch but will be looking elsewhere -- Kathys, Kelly's or Augustine beach maybe. Too much money for such poor food. Got bad Review. Went to Dolly Spankers for lunch. Got Crab cluster (1) and Mussels as an appetizer 35.00. Ate one mussel immediately in napkin tries a 2nd same thing didn't say nothing to Karin she did the same told bartender they were bad. said ok didn't offer anything else. 2 beers later get bill 35.00 for one small crab cluster I complained 10 min later manager comes let me go see comes back took 10 percent off 3.50 off. I almost lost it said we ate the mussels 10 more minutes additional 7.00. i guess they thought we were trying to get free SHITTY SEAFOOD. Sorry but I had higher hopes. I was surprised. First, our waitress was very good and we left her a 23% tip. The food wasn't her fault. Cream of crab soup. Wasn't soup it was batter. Taste wasn't bad but you could eat it with a fork. Ceasar salad was so salty i couldn't finish it. Dont know why so salty. Cauliflower wings were pretty good. My brisket was like my mothers day old dry pot roast. Potatoes had no flavor and dry!! Over cooked. Corn bread was so dry you couldn't pick it up, just crumbled and fell apart. Living in Delaware City, we splurge at least bi-weekly at Dolly's (formerly Crabby Dick's), so that's my qualification and my confession of bias. I've tried just about everything on the menus (new and old) at least once and, of course, like some things better than others. But a bad dish is a rarity. Service has always been superior, and there are several seating options to try. Just ask. I hope that people who have been disappointed will try again. The new name brought a new menu, and on some (few) items the kitchen needed a little time to get it right. If you don't like your dish, please ask your server for something else. New name... new disappointment. My family has been coming to Crabby Dicks for over 20 years. Other than a few minor things, our experiences have always been exceptional enough for us to keep coming back. Tonight was the first time we have had the "pleasure" of dining at Dolly Spankers since the name change. Boy, what an experience! We were quickly seated upon arrival, in a dining room with very bright lights, similar to a gas station or grocery store, that quickly dulled the mood. Our server Ella came right over to take our drink order, which unfortunately came out incorrectly. Accidents happen, no big deal. when I attempted to order the Snapper Soup (which was a deciding factor when choosing to come to Dolly Spankers) I was promptly told that they had none. So I ordered the cream of crab soup, which was delicious, and my wife ordered the Maryland crab soup which was very salty. My wife had the crab cakes which have always been delicious in the past, but were found lacking tonight. They were very dry and fishy tasting. I had the fish and chips, another traditional favorite. The fish was similar in appearance, texture, and taste to grocery store frozen fish sticks! It was no longer the fantastic fried fish fillet that Crabby Dicks was known for. It was disgusting. My French fries were salty to the point of being inedible and the rancid oil flavor only heightened my displeasure. The coleslaw was also dry and flavorless. We have been going to Dolly Spankers since it changed hands from Crabby Dicks. Since it changed hands, I have always ordered the Bookmaker Salad. Until last week, they always put four prawn on the salad. Last week they only put two. I did not complain since I understand that things are getting more expensive. However, today, not only did they put two prawn on the salad, it was only half the size that it has been in the past. I really didn't mind paying $20 for a salad when it was a large salad, but now that they reduced it to half the size, I will no longer go there. read more

We love the vibe in summer in the deck, but "off-season" we don't venture out that often. Tonight we took my in-laws because dad was in the mood for fried shrimp. Wow! What a fantastic meal. Mom loves oysters and really enjoyed the local Del-Mar-Va offering. We all enjoyed the rockfish bites which were chunks of fish, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Went here out of curiosity since I loved the former Crabby Dicks and I wasn't disappointed except for one thing: no crab pretzel on the menu. I used to travel from Pennsylvania just to get it because it was so good, compared to the many restaurants that offer something like this, but fall short. Got the voodoo shrimp instead but it was in a soupy hot sauce that didn't sit well. Outside of that, we were very pleased. The service was excellent for a busy restaurant. They were new so I gave them a second chance. Got it again next time and it came on a roll that was horrible and again no sauce as was listed on menu. Always have to ask for fork or something. Very bad at coming to clean tables off. Had to ask last time to clear table a bit so there was room for dessert dishes.
