I make it a point to visit Brew Ha Ha every time I visit my younger sister at UD. This coffee shop is located right off of Main Street with a convenient parking lot right behind it ($1/hour). The shop is pretty large with a wide variety of seating options including an outdoor patio. The chairs are super comfy and I spotted plenty of outlets if you are planning to come here to do work. The shop is decorated adorably and stepping inside instantly puts me in a good mood. The menu here is awesome but presents a lot of difficulty if you struggle to make decisions like I do as there are tons of options. I ended up going with the cold brew coffee and shot of caramel. It was beyond good-the perfect amount of caramel. My sister had the warm apple cider which was perfect for the season and made from actual apple cider, not powder. The baked good selection here is unreal with tons of unique options. I spent almost 10 minutes deciding but ultimately went with the walnut baklava at the barista's recommendation. After finishing, I almost considered order a second--it was that good. As someone who is currently abroad and downing coffee as I move through Europe, I still miss Brew Ha Ha! like crazy. Everything from the menu to the people is worth noting. I could spent hours all day studying in Brew with the way the atmosphere isn't quiet but not noisy either. It helps that each drink is always well-made, and there are a variety of drinks to choose from. The food is all delicious too. I have yet to try a pastry or sandwich that I didn't like. Brew Ha Ha offers a wide selection of coffees, and other drinks. They also serve tea (Republic of Tea's). I am a tea lover, so I am usually careful when it comes to the teas they serve outside, especially when it's not a tea house. I only tried their coffees so far, and I was not disappointed. People working there are young but they look like they know what they're doing, which is a great thing. I lately tried their Thai Iced Coffee and it's pretty good. They offer free wifi and they have sitting outside which is great in summer. (Offering even seats in the shade or under the sun.) Two of my best friends and I typically meet here to catch up when we are all back in Delaware because it's a good middle spot. Like most other coffee places, everything is slighty overpriced but you pay it anyway. I got $.10 off my drink for staying in-house instead of asking for the drink to go. They give you a glass cup that they'll rewash. I think I paid about $4.05 for a tall iced chai tea latte. Nothing special. They don't use cinnamon in the drink which is a bit of a bummer but you can add it yourself. Comfortable atmosphere with a ton of different seating and table options to choose from. It's a plus that the bathrooms are always clean and uni-sex so us women don't have to wait forever to use one stall. read more

Brew Haha is a coffee shop located on the second floor of the same iconic Main Street Galleria building which houses Salad Works and the memory of Kildare's. It's not uncommon to find a line of customers at peak hours waiting to order from the tasteful and expansive drinks menu. Candy bar themed lattes are a treat, and the staff does not shy away from cortados. The sandwiches are high quality, and if you want a bagel for lunch, any sandwich can be served on a bagel for half the normal price. I eat with the breakfast crowd, my go-to being the Classic Plus breakfast sandwich, which I order with bacon on a sesame bagel. The eggs are scrambled and fluffy, the cheese delicious and each bite an absolute pleasure. The seasonally available pistachio muffins are another favorite. Finding a seat can be hard sometimes, as this is a wonderful place to see a friend, hold a group meeting, go on a date or study between classes. The balcony is lovely and the adjoining outdoor staircase expedites departure towards campus. And no, I didn't forget about the staff, an all around kind group of people who are great at their jobs. Main Street offers a lot of choices for coffee, but Brew Haha is close to being the most versatile and compatible of them all. My roommates and I have only been here a few times and considering how much we eat out and love coffee I think it means something that we don't come here often. The food is subpar at best (they are always out of something and even when they aren't the sandwiches are something I can make at home so why would I pay $10 for a less than mediocre sandwich), the drinks are decent however i like frozen drinks and it's neverrrr frozen it's alway watery. The workers are always niceish however it's clear they don't exactly care about giving the best service (drinks not being made, water cooler not being refilled etc). An example of this is our last time there my friend ordered a frozen drink and was waiting quite a long time so she went up and asked when it will be done and the worker goes oh i have to pour it in the cup (meaning it had been ready in the blender she just was letting it sit there instead of serving it) One last thing is last time we were there there was a cockroach the size of a clementine sauntering around so that reallyyyyy made the entire experience even more appealing. i do feel bad about negative reviews but something negative always happens when we come here so i think it's time to never come back. The cheese biscuits are a gem, which you can substitute as the bread for any breakfast sandwich. Ambiance has improved since they renovated a year ago. Outlet situation is still sparse, however and the overall layout is quite cramped. Tables are a bit too small to do work that requires more than a laptop. Seating outside is nice for a sunny day. This is one of my favorite local Delaware coffee shops. Probably because it's one of the ONLY coffee shops in Delaware... but let's not dwell on things we cannot control. I've been coming to this Brew HaHa for ten years. I started frequenting it in high school when I thought it was the cool thing college kids did. When I did the Summer College program at UD, I'd occasionally come here to study, thinking "yes, I fit right in with all these hip 20-somethings... even if I haven't grown any leg hair and I can barely perspire." This place hasn't changed a bit in the past 10 years and I love it for that. I mean, I'm sure tables and wall colors have come and go... but the layout, the coffee and pastries, the feel of the cafe... exactly as I remember it. I love being able to come back to places where time has stood still. Brew HaHa is a great local chain that gives you an option instead of the Starbucks on Kirkwood Highway. There are a few locations around the state (and in PA) and each of the stores has its own personality. During the spring, I'd come here with my sorority peeps and we'd soak some sun on the patio and people-watch for hours. I don't think any other place on Main Street had ambiance quite like this one! I'm a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker, so I've never tried the coffee here. It's conveniently located in downtown Newark, near the university and near many other businesses, easy to walk to. It has outstanding baked goods. It also has an outdoor seating area, although it faces a parking lot so it could be nicer. There are a lot of different tables, but they all have a similar feel to them...there's not a huge amount of diversity in the seating. In particularly, there's not much in the way of "cozy" or "hangout" type seating, which I think is a shame. My main complaint about this place is that it's hard to find an outlet. Their wireless, also, although free and passable, tends to be a tad slower and less reliable than Saxby's, which is where I prefer to go if I want to get work done. This place has more character though. I just wish they would move it a little farther in the "cozy" direction...right now, it's straddling the fence. Either put in more sofas, or put in more outlets and get your wireless working a bit faster and more reliably. Ideally, do both! This would easily make this place five stars. read more

The food, coffee, and atmosphere are really nice in this place. Definitely a great place to get a coffee and study. I've gotten food only a few times here, but I'm starting to get it more often. A friend suggested the Florentine, and I must say, it makes my penis the opposite of soft. I personally get it on the red pepper, cheddar, and scallion biscuit (that alone sounds baller), but I also get it with chorizo sausage. It's more of a breakfast sandwich but they serve it til 2ish. It has a jam on it that is pretty solid. I've devoured the turkey sandwich once. Didn't regret it. The coffee there is good too. I normally get a brewski (red eye) or an americano with salted caramel flavoring. Shit's decent. My only beef with this place is the lack of outlets. I got the American Cappuccino and my fiance got the chai tea. My cappuccino was alright, but his chai was pretty good. If I come back again I will order the chai. I took off one point for my meh cappuccino, and I took off a point because the couch smelled like a sweaty armpit, and another because there were these two creepy homeless people lurking around behind us, and giving me some thirsty looks, (who both smelled awful...similarly to the couch). Once I put two and two together I got pretty annoyed. Then they both "went in the bathroom together." There was some other sweaty dude on the couch across from us. He didn't even buy a coffee, tea, or desert. Is this a homeless shelter, a holiday inn? Come on, that is disgusting. As an owner of a business why would you let unpaid customers sully the experience of paying ones, come on; and if your customers happen to smell awful, LYSOL THE DAMN FURNITURE. I will definitely be going to another location of Brew-Haha to get a cup of their chai, or I am going to go to another coffee and tea place.
