Love going to Drip for lunch after pickleball for lunch. I usually go with my BIL and we get 2 orders and split them. Often we ge the apple/caramel pancakes. They are to die for. Start checking your food before before you leave if you order take out. I'm vegan and they've added egg and cheese to my meal at both locations multiple times. I don't know if the cooks know the difference between vegan and vegetarian or if the cashier is putting the order in right. Looking for a savory breakfast sandwich and Drip cafe came up as a recommendation. Located in Newark on UD's campus, this place was pretty packed on a Saturday morning. I had my mind made up before I arrived but I love a good French toast. I went with avacado toast and the bananas foster French toast. I added bacon to my toast which gave it a nice crunch. I only wish there was a little bit of salt added to the avocado for a little more flavor. The bananas foster French toast was tasty. Im curious if it would have been better eaten at the restaurant instead of to go. It looked like they just put three slices of toast in a box, threw some pecans on top and called it a day. I did get a generous amount of the bananas foster sauce on the side. If it wasn't so packed, I would have dined in. This establishment came highly recommended by a dear friend of mine for several reasons: 1) they do amazing work supporting locals and the community, 2) the food is tasty, 3) the price is reasonable. After visiting the Newark, DE location, I will endorse the latter points. Though I learned nothing of their philanthropic endeavors, my sandwich was scrumptious. It's contents were the correct amount to make me feel full but not gorged. The bacon was crispy. The bread seemed fresh. Nothing to complain about in the Florentine sandwich. The pumpkin stuffed French toast was exploding at the seams with pumpkin and raspberry deliciousness. The slices are thick and the topping plentiful. Seating options are many, however almost all tables were accompanied by cold metal chairs. For reasons of cleanliness these are easy to wipe down but wouldn't be my first choice in an already somewhat chilly establishment. The menu has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options in addition to various normal offerings. They're open for breakfast but don't expect your typical breakfast menu-- many items come in the form of sandwiches. Overall, this is a fine place to grab a bite. read more

The food and drinks are good, although the coffee is inconsistent -- tasting one way one day, and totally different another. My main complaint, though, is that none of the outlets here have been working all semester! If you are planning on coming here to do work, DON'T. (Unless your devices magically stay charged). I decided on double pancakes with a side of bacon (3 strips). The outside tables were in desperate need of a wipe down. I had to flag the waitstaff down for that and she brought out the saddest, dirty wet rag to wipe down the table. Sigh. Ok. The pancakes were crumbly. Like over-mixed batter. It's too bad because I couldn't stop eating the bacon ! It was thick and crispy and delicious. The place is clean and well staffed. The service was prompt and my order came out quick. The burrito was delicious and the coffee was strong. That was much needed for the long ride home through Beltway traffic. I took it to go and dined off the hood of my car in the permitted parking lot across the street. This year was the first time I ordered from Drip Cafe for the Thanksgiving Dinner - last year, they sold out before I could call, so I knew it would be a good choice for the following year. The food provided was INCREDIBLE. It was all packed ready to go at pick-up time, and the servers provided re-heating instructions. The portions were more than enough for 6 people, but I'm so glad we had leftovers for the next day with family coming in from multiple states. I came here for a Friday breakfast with a girlfriend and we had a pretty good experience. She drank a cortado, I had a London fog and we shared the biscuits and gravy / chai waffle. Both of us were happy with our drinks and we both really enjoyed both dishes. The waffle was sooo incredibly flavorful. It reminded me of a Christmas cookie. The biscuits and gravy had a ton of flavor also and a lot of mushrooms so if you don't like mushrooms it's probably not for you. The waffle was a sweet breakfast, but not overly sweet, which I loved! This place is such a great addition to the area! It's only a short walk from Main Street or you can park across the street. They have lots of options - coffees, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, pastries, etc. I got the breakfast flatbread and the Elvis smoothie, both were super tasty! After frequenting the Hockessin Drip Cafe, I knew I had to come try out their second location. I was excited about the different ordering situation, as it's more of a "fast food" restaurant. You order the food at the counter and then they give you a table number, where the server then brings your food. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They have many of the same options as the Hockessin Drip, which is nice. The two times I have gone, the food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. It is also priced very reasonably. I would say Drip did everyone a favor by opening a location in Newark. It's the perfect brunch spot for college students, families, and just about anybody to enjoy a quality, quick meal. read more

First timer at a Drip Cafe. Found the atmosphere pleasant and bright, with very friendly staff and basic, but comfortable seating. Their Breakfast Burrito was stuffed to the gills with egg, bacon, peppers, onions and cheese and was plenty spicy. The Waldorf Chicken Salad Wrap was very good, too. Star of the show, however, was the locally roasted coffee, that had a wonderful flavor and was exactly right for a first cuppa joe. Newark is a new world for me. I called and ordered for pick up and ordered drinks when I arrived. Food was ready, and the iced coffee was ready within five minutes, but then I sat and waited for my shake. 15 minutes went by where people came and went getting their orders, but still no milkshake. Was never asked by staff what I was waiting for, despite being the only one waiting consistently and at the end, the only one waiting AT ALL. Was forced to wait in the way of the trash bin and the counter with the sugars and everything, so constantly having to move out of the way of other people. Finally asked for it and got told that I HAD to ask for it to get it? Um....No? It should've been called just the same as my coffee was? Why would it be ANY different? I ordered it at the register so what's the difference? By the time I got it, my milkshake was fairly liquidy. Staff was distracted by their phones, and one was wearing a see through shirt so you could see her bright red bra through it. Not really appropriate for a work environment. Didn't appreciate the attitude and lack of help from staff when I was nothing but polite and courteous. Had ordered my fries well done for one of the two orders of food, and when I got home, they were the exact same as my boyfriend's (he felt them himself and there was zero difference) - soggy/squishy and not at all crispy in any way. Had to throw them in the air fryer to make them crispy. The bbq grilled cheese were delicious, but the milkshake tasted more like coconut or just the tiniest hint of cinnamon as opposed to an actual churro milkshake, and was really small for an $8 drink. I could go to Wawa and get the same thing for $5 and double the size with more flavor. I was looking forward to trying the food here as I was gifted some gift cards and had planned to come back and spend my own money - if the experience had been good. I don't generally leave reviews for places, and I've worked in many food places myself, but this whole experience left me frustrated, annoyed, disappointed, and feeling snubbed by the staff. I won't be returning, and will be taking my business to the Hockessin location for all future orders, which is a shame as this location is only 5 minutes from my house. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I can't say enough about this place! From coffee to sweets to sandwiches, Drip Cafe has amazing flavor with unique twists. As far as coffee is concerned, I typically order the cold brew with oat milk. However, their house blend hot coffee (a Colombian blend I believe) is also delicious and is very popular. My mom is very picky about her coffee and loves their hot coffee. They offer a variety of non-dairy milks and seasonal syrups, such as rosemary and maple. Almost every time I walked in, there were samples of their scones and muffins, which I loved! (Heck, everyone loves samples!) Plus, this can help when you have no clue if you are feeling the Nutella muffin or the rosemary scone. My favorite thing about this place is their egg sandwiches!!! Truly, you cannot go wrong with any of them, but my favorite is probably the Cali on multigrain bread. My friends love getting the Cali with bacon as well. Drip Cafe offers really cool brunch menu items as well, so I highly recommend checking out their full menu. If I wasn't so attached to my favorite go-tos, I would've tried anything and everything else. As a recent UD alum, I am really missing having this place around! I love Drip Cafe in Hockessin, and was happy to have the opportunity to try the Newark location while my car was in the shop (MUCH better than waiting at the dealership!). The menu is similar to Hockessin, with a lot of my favorites from there, but with a more university-town twist. It's more casual than Hockessin. Instead of table service, you order at the counter. I like this for Newark--it allows you to sit and do work on your computer without feeling like you have to eat and leave because someone's waiting for your table, which is the feeling I get in Hockessin. The food came out quickly and was good. I ordered a bagel with cheesy egg on the side (my recent Drip Cafe favorite). My fiance ordered the breakfast cheesesteak. He said it was good, but probably not something he'd order again because it was pretty heavy--although he said that he would have enjoyed it on weekend mornings when he was in college. It's nice to have another Drip Cafe location, and we'll definitely be back. read more

Wanted to try a new breakfast spot for my birthday today and Drip Cafe didn't disappoint! It was fairly crowded because of it being prime time on Saturday but the service was very quick! We order the classic sandwich with sausage and it was super good! The sausage was thick and held a lot of flavor! We also got the eggs with potatoes which were sooooo good. I absolutely love Drip Cafe in Hockessin and I have given the Newark location two chances before writing this. 1st visit my latte was room temperature, my order was wrong and my eggs were cold. I was handed my order as soon as it was ready so I am not sure why it was not hot. 2nd visit I ordered The Cali - my usual order at the Hockessin location - I knew the eggs were going to be scrambled and not fried, but they put a thick cheese omelette on the sandwich instead of a slice of cheese with eggs. All I could taste was the cheese and I ended up removing the omelette halfway through because it was gross. The latte I received today (my usual order) tasted rancid to the point I didn't feel comfortable drinking it. Not sure who manages this location, but it is not up to the Drip Cafe standards I am used to. read more
