I was so surprised by my experience. I sit and wait for no line. I go to order. I'm ignored. There are six people behind the counter. The drive thru is busy. I wait. After a few minutes I ask for help and am told to wait more. I wait. Finally, I say, "isn't this supposed to be the third place where you prioritize in-store guests?" I'm told no. And to wait. I asked if I should just order in store for it to be faster. She looks at me and says, "yes, you can!" So...I left and I won't return. read more

Went to this location on my lunch to order my favorite...... stood at the counter for 10 mins until some very annoyed young lady came to the register... I jokingly said "oh someone works here", she said oh we are busy.... REALLY!!!!!! I have been in management for a very long time and that is not the correct answer; I walked out! Tried to find name of manager, but didn't happen, they need to learn to keep someone at the register to take care of walk ins who DO NOT like ordering on the app!!! Typical Starbucks right in downtown Newark. This is by far one of my most frequent stops in the area. Usually crowded with patrons and UD students, but the lines and service are still quick than most places I've been too. I also find that this is the friendliest and I'm quite familiar with most of the baristas here. Never had an issue even with a complicated secret menu order. There is also available parking in the back for customers to avoid paying meter. After all these years of being a Gold Member, I can't believe I just learned that I could get free/really discounted refills! So I guess, I'm getting Venti size from now on. read more

The worst staff and customer service of any Starbucks I have ever been to. Very unfriendly and poorly trained.

Slowest and most non personable baristas I've ever dealt with. Zero care about customer service. Constantly out of items. Horrible example of what Starbucks stands for. Maybe it's just the early morning staff that is a problem, but with a new coffee shop around the corner, this one may be worth skipping. The convenience of Starbucks comes with the mobile ordering, but if you have to wait 15 minutes for black coffee, then you can go anywhere and get better service. read more

Only mobile order? Why? Why can't I walk into a coffee shop and order a coffee? I was a barista and it's not that hard

I tried to get there to buy coffee ... but could find any free parking nearby ... so I just left the town. Not impressed at all with Newark.

This Starbucks experience was terrible. Walked in with a friend around 8pm to get a simple cup of coffee & when I got to the counter I tried ordering 1LG hot coffee (sorry VENTI) for those who get all butt hurt for not using the correct term. The girl behind the counter says she cant take or ring up orders & can only be done via app which I thought she was kidding until she assured me that's the only way. I asked so how does one even get the sandwich or drinks in the displays up front & she said via app. So now annoyed, I proceed to download the app & create an account & now having to find the store via location services & link my paypal account to it. I place my order & get the confirmation email/receipt. So we sit down to wait for my coffee & kind of disgusted as all the tables have stains/crumbs on it from previous patrons as it clearly shows the workers don't really clean the tables. Place has only 4-5 people in it & not busy at all. 10 minutes pass by and my coffee is still not ready & I'm watching the 2 workers just chatting and on their cell phones so I walk up to the counter asking about the order & she tells me she'll get to it so I politely ask if she can put a few ice cubes in it as well which she said she will. Couple other people come in and try to order via counter & are told the same thing I was about only accepting online app orders. Another 7 minutes pass by & my coffee is finally done & put up on the rack for pick up orders & of course they forgot the ice as requested. These younger generation workers truly do not pay attention to detail & have terrible work ethic & seem entitled. This whole wait time for a SIMPLE cup of coffee took 22 minutes of our time. 5 minutes to download & set up the app & another 17 minutes for wait time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This place would be screwed if power ever went out or faulty electronics & it doesn't help that its not going to teach these younger kids these days to do simple math cashiering. read more

Fine to stop in and grab a coffee, wouldn't recommend staying to study on a busy day. Tables often dirty. The mobile order pickup is right by the door so there is always a crowd of 20+ people standing by the door so it is hard to get in or out. Not bad but not the first coffee shop I'd go to in the area. read more

Stopped in here after dinner. Very nice place. Quick and the young lady behind the counter Cayenne (sp?), although new, was very nice and knowledgeable. We struck up a nice conversation and she was very attentive in our short interaction. Only issue came when I asked her name (her name tag was slightly covered by her scarf), her trainer corrected her rather sternly and in front of me as a guest. This created an awkward position for me to be in and I imagine it did for the new employee. Corrections for employees should be kept out of sight from guests as to keep instances like this from happening. I'll be back but will probably keep my conversations to a minimum to keep a situation like this from taking place again. read more

This is a normal stand-alone starbucks with most of what you would expect. However, this location has been declining for the last 6-12 months. The last three times I've left empty handed. I don't what anything exotic. A hazelnut macchiato? Nope. "We don't make that anymore." Iced coffee Via packs. Nope. Out of stock. For the last two months. Add a chocolate cake pop for my son only to open the bag in the car and find the wrong flavor they had to reach over a dozen chocolate ones to get to. All the other locations in the area have been great. Avoid this one. Also, like other reviews have pointed out, this location is SLOW. read more

I love Starbucks as much as the next white girl, but the baristas making the drinks almost always come off as rude and tired. One time they even gave away my drink when I had gotten back in line to make another purchase and did not bother to apologize when confronted. It will always be a great place to get a coffee, I just wish they had a friendlier staff. read more

I come in here often. Generally, Starbucks coffee has a really strong taste that I'm sure not everybody loves but I usually get whatever "Blonde" roast is being served on that particular day. I love getting the cappuccino, green tea latte, chai latte, and their mini vanilla bean scones. They're small enough where I don't feel guilty that I ate one (because I'm trying to lose weight, lol!) and they are under a dollar so it works out great. I had their chicken pesto sandwich a few weeks back and was actually really good. Might have to get it again if I'm ever in there around lunch time. If I go early enough in the day I'm served by an older gentleman (terribly sorry but I never get his name) that is the sweetest person ever. I've been going to this starbucks for a while and he always tells me to study hard and flashes me a very bright smile. I graduated a year ago but I don't plan on telling him that! :) read more

Average Starbucks but too small for a huge college town. No drive thru and parking is difficult. A few tips: go early morning before 8:00am. Parking is free and not crowded. Staff is usually fast and friendly, but line can be out the door at busy times. There is a huge need for another Starbucks in Newark, with a drive thru as this is the only one. read more

Ive been a Customer on Main Street Newark Starbucks since the day opened & loved it but recently became a very slow & very unprofessionaly managed place especially today Store Manager -even though I didn't want to talk to Her - came to me stated that She ORDERED MY ALMONDS FOR ME ONCE :)) and on Top while I was trying to go out of the store -btw I limp b/c of a degenerative Hip problem- The Manager On Duty Bily ? Yelled at me & stopped me when I went back to find out what She was trying to say to me -She opened a box of Almonds and Yelling at me " GET YOUR ALMONDS GETT WHAT YOU WANT GET WHATEVER" Continue Yelling telling other Customers -How She loved all of them , how some Customers are annoying" Basically on Duty /off Duty Manager /Management means BE ABLE TO BE PROFESSIONAL sad to see that Store that I loved going down hill read more

If you are planning on staying and studying, id say look for another coffee shop. This location tends to attract homeless and/or the mentally challenged. Several have a penchant to talk very loudly, sing to themselves, or try to engage in conversation with others that are clearly working. I simply can't study in here. It's also FREEZING in here during wintertime. I can't take off my jacket. read more

I really like this place! I come to this Starbucks often and buy some snacks and coffee. The service is great and waiters are nice, friendly and always smile to you. You don't need to wait for long to get your coffee and food. This place is very clean. The price is reasonable, you get what you pay for. I like the coffee there, especially Americano and mocha latte. Americano is very bitter but smells so good. Mocha latte is a little sweet and has a creamy flavor. read more

This was my first time going to this Starbucks location because the lines are usually too long however i went at a different time of the day and I was immediately able to be waited on. I ordered a green tea latter and waited what seemed to be like 30 minutes for my drink. Once I tasted the latte i tasted chunks of unmixed matcha green tea powder. Buy this time i was halfway down the block so i had to go back to the store and get a stirrer to stir the powder fully. Won't be going back to the location. read more
