People stopped in with kids, after runs, with friends, or solo to do work--all things that indicate its establishment as a community gathering place. Their interior is very cute and their exterior has a delightful and eclectic array of seating options. I liked that they have table service and bring your food right to you. I also liked that they use dishes and don't default to to-go packaging! To eat, I had the avocado toast. I thought flavor-wise it was solid, and especially liked the hot sauce they used. The sourdough was thin. To drink, I had a lavender latte with oat milk. Their house-made lavender syrup tasted good. They serve Partners Coffee. My critiques are pretty minor: I wish the large table didn't feel so awkward to sit at and I wish they had a bigger space. I wish my toast was a bit fuller! read more

What a nice cafe!!! (and I'm not just saying that because my pet bunny's name is Scout too haha) Immediately upon entering, you're greeted by the inviting, warm atmosphere. I am surprised I have not reviewed this place yet seeing as I come here almost everyday! The coffee is delicious, I love their seasonal cherry blossom latte. The coffee itself has a good balance, no burnt taste at the end. They always have fun flavors and baked goods. The lemon lavender pastry is my favorite and the halloumi sandwich is a must try. I came in around 2pm on a Tuesday, but their kitchen had closed, so I just ordered an iced mocha and a vanilla loaf. Both were great! I will definitely come back another time--earlier in the day--to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, which all sounded good! The two attendants were lovely, and the service was very quick! Came with some friends on a lil Delaware coffee tour we planned. We got the flight they were offering, all the drinks were absolutely delicious. I have wanted to go to Scout Cafe ever since they opened. I'm not sure what took me so long. But it won't take me so long to go back! This little place is so incredibly charming. The atmosphere is so carefully curated. I would have loved to have stayed and enjoyed my breakfast while reading my book, but I chose to arrive after First Saturday Mass... prime Saturday breakfast/brunch time. The cafe was absolutely packed, both inside and out. We're in the middle of a very hot summer, so I decided to take my order to go. But I can't wait to go back another time to be able to stay and enjoy my time there. The employees are absolutely fantastic. They are so friendly and kind. Each one called me by name once I ordered. The sweet employee who took my order gave me a really meaningful compliment without even realizing it would be meaningful to me. I was very touched. I ordered the iced caramel latte with almond milk and strawberry toast. Both were so lovingly prepared. They take their time to make each item with care, and it shows. Everything was delicious and tasted homemade! We ordered the Mrs. Van Buren and split it between 2 people. It came with chips and was the perfect size. Tasted fresh and loved the toppings on it. Lovely exterior. Cozy and airy interior. I stopped in later in the day for a quick bite and was greeted immediately upon entering which is always nice. I settled on the hummu-licious sandwich: hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, falafel and everything bagel seasoning. I also noticed a theme that most of the sandwiches have sprouts in them.. just an fyi, if you don't like them I'm sure they can always be opted out. The sandwich was soooo yummy ! I was blown away at first bite. Everything was really bright. I would've loved more hummus since the name is in the title, also towards the end the falafel was a tad salty but that could've been my palate. They also don't seem to have other bevs besides coffee/tea and since it was lunch time I wish they had other options like a fridge with bottled options or a selection of curated non caffeinated drinks. This place is super cute, has great service and the iced tea was good, but the food is awful. Everything in the display case looked dried out and old and I ordered the Van Buren sandwich and it was truly terrible. The chicken was that pressed, microwave "chicken breast" that has a spongy, wet texture. I ate some of the bread it came on (also dried out) but I couldn't eat more than a bite of the chicken. Between the food & parking I wouldn't come back, especially when Sleeping Bird is just right around the corner. read more

This is very close to me so I am bummed it's not great. I've had a cappuccino (not made correctly, milk just overheated with no foam), avocado toast, chocolate croissant, and tea. The tea is really basic Bigelow tea. Also had a spinach and feta hand pie. Bleh. Gave it a couple tries but will try my best not to go back. Scout is such a gem of a cafe. Not only do they sell awesome coffee and tea beverages, they also have fresh pastries and fun stickers. There is a host of other adorable items as well. Every time I visit Scout Cafe, the service is simply heart-warming. A fun thing they did this past summer was the Matcha Tea Flight. There were four different tea drinks with varying matcha strengths. And the matcha was excellent in every one of them. This adorable new coffee shop is the perfect addition to this little neighborhood! I love that it's walkable for so many people nearby; in the time we were there, we saw parents arriving with their children on scooters and elderly couples taking a stroll over. For those who need to drive, there's plenty of street parking around the cafe. We visited on the Monday morning that happened to be MLK Day and arrived in time to snag the last two bar seats by the window --- the small collection of tables were packed! Our lattes were delicious, and my breakfast sandwich was excellent with slightly sweet Maplewood Bacon, egg, and Havarti Cheese.
