I stopped by on a weekday morning and there was a decent flow of customers coming in and out for their morning fix. I ordered an iced mocha and a breakfast burrito to get my day started. The mocha was made very quickly and tasted good. I definitely notice what other reviewers mentioned... there is a very obvious "burnt" taste that the espresso has. It wasn't inedible by any means, just different and stronger than your typical coffee shop. The breakfast burrito was also strange to say the least. I didn't take any pictures of it, but the "scrambled egg" inside was literally just cubed (!!!) microwaved egg, honestly not even sure if it was real egg. The other ingredients were fine, but the egg was extremely off putting and not at all what I had expected. However, I know most people come here for the coffee and I honestly would not recommend it. I have been here multiple times and the coffee always has a distinct burnt taste. The specialty latte flavors are unique but poorly executed. I have also watched them make the coffee and it is 95% milk. The service is okay, they have always been very kind about fixing the order when I tell them I do not like it. However, even after it has been fixed I am still left with that burnt taste in my mouth. Really nice space inside and the staff are so friendly. Their breakfast burrito is one of the best I've had and their cookie butter cake slice is so delicious! I unfortunately wasn't a huge fan of their coffee. I tried their Pisces seasonal drink in March which was a lemon based latte and it wasn't a hit for me. Later on I also tried their cookie butter latte and still didn't find it great. I do prefer my coffee on the sweeter side and didn't feel it was at my level. Cozy cafe with tables both inside and a small one outside as well. It was a Saturday and it was PACKED so we ended up eating outside even though it was a bit chilly but it was definitely busy for a reason! The staff members were extremely friendly and accommodating. They had vegan and gluten free options, the latte menu even listed v for vegan next to the syrups which I rarely see. They had an off street parking lot with plenty of spaces even when it was busy. I first discovered this place on a weekend trip and thereafter, purposely drove routes through this area while traveling so I could stop by again. I usually drink tea and the only thing that could be improved is more tea selections, like a jasmine tea or traditional green tea. No other cafe compares to this one. All their latte syrups are homemade so no pumped syrup in this cafe. They also rotate a seasonal latte which is different and fun to try. I am from the area and love a good cafe and try all of them but this one is top notch. The coffee beans are local as well (from Philadelphia). The pistachio olive oil cake was available along with several scones. We opted for the cake which was slightly sweet and fresh. My husband and I have been coming here for about 5 months, each time hoping that the "vibe" would improve... But it never did. While their lattes and homemade desserts are good (and they have a clean bathroom), most of their employees are sullen, passive-aggressive young women who talk way too loud about their personal lives, bodily disorders, and mental problems. (It's embarrassing to overhear these things). They seem to have no filter, and treat the place as if it were their own personal club house. What's worse, on several occasions, we've even overheard them loudly gossiping about various customers after the customers left. They even gossip about their fellow co-workers when those co-workers aren't working that day. (Don't they know we can all easily hear them?! Either they're highly oblivious, or they just don't care.) Plus, they rudely sweep the floors between the customers' feet 1 hour before closing. This unprofessional behavior not only makes us uncomfortable, it hurts this small business. (For example, we will probably not return because of the bad, catty vibes. Sorry, guys, but we really tried.) Sleeping Bird is me and my wife's favorite place to go for great coffee and excellent breakfast. The avocado toast with smoked salmon and the strawberry toast with marscapone cheese, creme brûléed brie and balsamic glaze are both freaking delicious! They also have freshly made pastries they bake on-prem and breakfast sandwiches. It's got a great vibe and they support local businesses and artists by letting people put flyers and business cards on a countertop next to the cashier station. We were also happy to recently wait in an early morning line at the new Sleeping Bird Donuts and walk out with a delicious dozen. They were unbeatable, freshly made, and unique in flavors. We ended up sharing them with anyone who walked into our house throughout the weekend and everyone was impressed with what Sleeping Bird is putting out. Keep up the great work, Sleeping Bird!
