Oh so delicious, kind, cute, and worth a stop! When visiting family in the area I decided to seek out a spot serving Oatly oatmilk and was overjoyed to find Philter! Starting with an oatmilk Latte, the espresso was on point well rounded and smooth - low acidity and high joy. My oatmilk matcha was equally as delicious - even though it was sweetened it was not sugary but rather simply pleasant! I was grateful for the gluten free vegan chia pudding made with coconut milk and matcha flavor - incredible addition flry travels. Can't wait to come back and enjoy an afternoon of reading in this cute cafe with rustic decor, awesome local art, intriguing chocolates and tea, and a wonderful atmosphere. You can tell that some places take pride in their coffee. This is one of them. My iced coffee had a nice undertone of flavor. It doesn't have to be too bold. Spent a few days in Kennett square and visited Philter every day - a nice little coffee shop with a cool vibe. Loved the seats inside facing the street. Ordered breakfast both days - the prosciutto sandwich was decent, but a bit messy. The ham egg and cheddar was delicious, although they could use better ham instead of deli slices but it's all good the eggs were fluffy and delicious and croissant complimented it well. I'm not often in Kennett Square, but Philter has quickly become my go-to spot for a grab-and-go drink or to chill if I have to wait around a bit. It's a rather hipster place (definitely of the third wave coffee variety) with a cozy atmosphere and a good number of tables inside. The staff is super friendly and answered the many questions I had about their menu and drinks. The first time I was there, they made my drink with dairy milk instead of almond milk, but the other times I've been, they have been more careful and accurate. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Philter serves Ceremony Coffee, a great roaster that we discovered in Annapolis a few months ago. Their pourovers and cappuccino are quite good, although their hot chocolate was a little watery (can be made dairy free). Next time I would go for the version made with the speciality hot chocolate mix, even if that means paying a bit more. I personally wouldn't get their chai latte (they use Oregon Chai concentrate), but if you like sweet, vanilla-y versions, go for it. One time the Tall Man and I grabbed breakfast, both getting breakfast sandwiches. The Tall Man's was gooey and tasty, a mostly cheesy, saucy mess. I got mine gluten-free on a salad, which ended up being lighty dressed greens with a very thin slice of ham and somewhat overcooked scrambled egg cooked in one of those round form pans -- would be fine on a sandwich, but without the bun and cheese, it was a little dry. They do have gluten-free pastry options, which are small and pretty decent but a bit pricey for the portion. Despite some hiccups, I am still a fan and will be coming back to Philter soon. read more

This was the perfect coffee place! It's a lot bigger than I expected and the inside has plenty of room. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and it got busy around 3, but other than that there was ample seating. Loved the interior, and there's some window seating with plants as well. For coffee, they have a wide selection. I got a hazelnut soy latte which was amazing. They also provide some sandwiches and food, and some various bread and muffins. I got the egg and salmon on sourdough bread and it was the perfect afternoon snack! There's street parking outside and a couple of cute shops surrounding the store. Spent the night at the Marriott next to longwood gardens and popped in here for a quite bite before heading home! My girlfriend loved the summer coffee! She had the spicy eggs and I got the eggs and prosciutto on salad! The eggs were really fresh! And the provolone cheese melted on my eggs and prosciutto was the perfect amount of sharp when combined with the salad dressing. It came with a red pepper type of sauce that I did not like (I ordered ToGo so this was in its own small container on the side so I was glad). The dressing was like a Dijon vinaigrette that complimented the arugula and eggs really well. The ambiance was so modern and fresh and the staff were very polite and patient. They answered all of our questions and gave great suggestions! The bathrooms are unisex which is always a plus. read more

Overall the food tastes great, and the coffee is ok, but recently it's all become too overpriced.
