I finally tried Gryphon Cafe and can definitely see why it gets so much hype! The inside is bright, cute, and spacious, with plenty of seating, making it a great spot to grab coffee and hang out for a while. They also had a great selection of pastries that all looked amazing, but we decided to try the breakfast menu instead. For drinks, my friend got the brown sugar latte and I went with the pumpkin latte topped with chai cold foam. Both were delicious, and the pumpkin + chai combination was perfect for fall! For food, we shared the fig and Brie toast and the Standard Sandwich, which came with cheesy eggs -- and you really can't go wrong with cheesy eggs for breakfast. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Gryphon Cafe. The food and drinks were great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and there was plenty of space to sit. Definitely worth checking out if you're in West Chester! read more

A go to in West Chester. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The coffee selection broad and tasty.

Tasty looking food; freshly baked snacks and chocolates, prompt service; each visit they brewed a pot of decaf for me, and the ambiance was inviting. Gryphon has a nice friendly vibe. read more

Really good chai and amazing house made syrups! The inside of the cafe is cute as well :)

Beautiful Café. Great aesthetics and the look of everything was nice but I paid seven dollars for this latte and it tasted like Play-Doh. I actually had to spit it out and end up throwing it away completely. We also got a mocha, which wasn't that good either. read more

The drinks here are usually fairly good and I also generally like their pastries, lthough too many are pre-packaged for my liking. My main problem is that they have like no comfortable seats anywhere in the cafe and it can get very crowded too easily. The owner is a really good guy and I try to come here every month when I'm nearby. read more

Come here all the time. Amazing food, drinks, and vibe throughout the cafe. I can't say enough good things about the staff in particular. They deserve so much credit. All super nice, welcoming, and so good at what they do. In the dozen+ times I've stopped in, I've never once received subpar service, not even when it's been busy. read more

The iced coffee was delicious! Perfection! I also had a spinach and feta pastry that blew my mind. Super cool Owners who care about knowing you by name. Super dog friendly. I love this place. It's a gem. read more

Super cozy cafe in the heart of West Chester! My friend and I decided to meet here on a chilly Saturday afternoon. It was lively inside and filled with customers coming and going, but we were still able to order our drinks quickly and find seating. I was drawn by the butterfly pea photos from other reviewers. However, their menu appears to change as it was not available during my visit. I was pleased with my alfajores latte though. It was light and fragrant with notes of orange zest and buttery sugar cookies. My friend had the maple sage, and he told me that while he could taste the sage, it wasn't overpowering or too sweet. If you like lattes with flavors that are a bit more unusual, a cozy atmosphere, and a spot of friendly conversation with the folks behind the counter, you'll enjoy the Gryphon Cafe. 100% stopping by the next time I'm in town again! read more

Great atmosphere and really kind customer service! Oh and the coffee is 5/5 always. Never had a bad one :)

Very friendly staff and excellent pastries. The shop was extremely busy yet the line moved quickly.

I love this cafe. Really friendly atmosphere, good drinks and food, a great place to be amongst people and to do work alone.

Seats are the most uncomfortable, back-straining, ass-numbing constructs imaginable. The coffee is bad, the lattes are just milk, the cashiers are rude, snide and condescending, and the to-go cups disintegrate within hours. Thank goodness there are other coffeeshops opening up in the city read more

I stopped in for a coffee on a cold day and loved the entire space, perfect for a place to catch up with friends or some wfh hours. I got a specialty latte which was delicious and a biscotti for the road. Overall I thought everything was delicious and I would certainly go back again. read more

Gryphon Cafe - iced americano, cold brew - Coffee & Tea Near Me - West Chester, Pennsylvania

10 female friends were doing our part to contribute to the West Chester economy on Small Business Saturday. When I lost my group I saw a sign on the sidewalk for the Gryphon Café and I said to myself " I loved it in Wayne let me try it here in West Chester. " Opening the door I was met with sheer simplistic beauty in a coffee house. Inside are beautiful random planked hardwood floors, exposed brick walls and sustainable looking tables. The prep area is stunning. None of that snobby barista behavior here either. These guys were polite, friendly and willing to take the time to explain my various hot chocolare options on this cold day. I choose the Rose Pistachio hot chocolate which They make with a little bit of rosewater topped with a rich dollop of whip cream adorned with pistachio sprinkles. It was almost too pretty to drink. But drink I did! And I was blown away at the taste. Just trying something totally new like this made my Saturday afternoon. I also had an everything bagel which was freshly made with the perfect amount of "everything" Baked in. The best part? Even though he asked me for my name there was none of that loud screaming of your name when your order is ready. The hot chocolate was delivered to my table, surprising me so I kept an eye out for when my bagel would be ready so I could go retrieve it because there were only two guys working. I was so into that hot chocolate I didn't realize the bagel was delivered to my table right then by the other fellow. Seriously folks, try the Rose Pistachio hot chocolate. You will thank me. It's a 40 minute drive from my place but the Incredible customer service combined with great coffee/ hot chocolates and foodstuffs is what will bring me back again. read more

The five stars is mostly for the coffee. I got a cafe au lair, which is simple but depends on having good beans prepared well, and theirs was fantastic. They get their beans from Counterculture, which is one of the better coffee roasters around, and that shows, but I've also had coffee that wasn't as good from other places using the same beans. The service was pleasant and reasonably quick. It's also a pretty nice place to sit, with a number of tables in a space that has a sleek, modern design: light (maple?) wood, clean lines, semi-minimalist, with current local artists works on the walls. Way back in the day, when I was a brooding high school student, I was a regular at the Gryphon Cafe in Wayne, where I sipped coffee while writing character sketches in my Shinola notebook making fun of pretentious customers there X). I don't know if I've gone soft/too bougie, or the coffee's improved, or my palate has grown to better appreciate good coffee (I suspect a mix of all of those), but all I could think of visiting the new WC Gryphon location was how good the coffee is. P.S. My girlfriend got a chai latte and loved that, too. read more

Spontaneous morning. Decided to just randomly ventured out my vicinity and counted on Yelp for a good cup of jo. The Mister was a bit skeptical, but we both ended enjoying our coffees. For sure met our expectations better than we both had anticipated. Light roast with hint of sweetness and not too overly heavy with their flavor syrups. Lavender was a hit for me! Cafe was very clean and with simple decor atmosphere. Love the displays of local artworks hanging on the walls. A little kink on customer service as it was quite busy. However, non the less will be patronizing again. read more

Stopped in for the soft opening for a quick brunch few weeks ago. While it was clear that they Gryphon Cafe was finding its legs as a new business in WC, it seemed like they were on the right path. The staff was very nice and finding their footing. The food was pretty good but maybe a little pricey for what we were served. Coffee was delicious and the space was very bright and enjoyable inside. The counter by the window made for nice people watching. I can see this as a spot to sit in with friends or by yourself and maybe a decent to go coffee spot as well. read more

Very cute interior with decent drinks and lots of vegan-friendly pastries! The vegan coffee cake was my favorite. Plenty of coffee and espresso options and they had alternative milks as well. Latte was oddly cold when served but flavors were good. Location is very convenient in the heart of town! Quite a few people were doing work, seemed like a quiet place to get work done! read more

Gryphon gets a 10/10 for coffee shop vibes. Wide, open space. Beautiful wood tables to do work. A simple yet modern look with the plants and bookshelves. Aesthetic all around was great. I can only give 4 stars at this time because I ordered the butterfly pea latte and it was extremely underwhelming. First, it had a very dry texture (interesting for a drink...) which was probably due to the powder used. It kind of tasted like I was drinking flour. Second, the taste was just very bland--disappointing for something that cost over $5. Third, it stained my tongue and teeth and I didn't realize until I went into the bathroom and saw a smurf staring back at me. I'd like to come back and give it another try and order something else. read more

if you're looking for a place to study/do work, i'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. there's lots of seating available and when we went, it was not too busy but also not eerily quiet. the cafe has a pretty warm cozy vibe. they have the standard coffee menu along with some pastries and cafe basics. i love that they also feature a seasonal menu (of course i got the pumpkin spice latte). they also sell merch, coffee, tea, books, equipment, etc. their baristas are super friendly and welcoming! street parking can be a hit or miss, but luckily when we went there was actually a decent amount of open street parking spots + the meters are pretty cheap. i haven't been to the other locations but there's also a location in philly and wayne! read more

Very friendly staff and amazing prices for hot beverage!! 2 hot chocolates for only $5.08!!!

Coffee/Food: excellent, all of it. The coffee will knock your socks off. This is European-style cafe, not Starbucks. Tons of flavor and uniqueness. The teas also outstanding. Try the almond vanilla. It will change your life. Service/Ambiance: Staff are attentive and service-oriented, and oftentimes the owner is there and he's great. It's clear that he wants to make sure that everyone who enters his establishment walks away happy and content. The ambiance is perfect if you're in a hurry or want to hang out. It's a terrific place to meet a friend or colleague for coffee, or get some work done on your laptop. It's not empty, but not loud either. Just the right balance of calm, in a social environment. I love this place, I'd go everyday if I loved closer by. read more

Love this place! Maple walnut scone, egg sandwich, decent latte, normalcy... Thank you Gryphon Cafe for being a winner in my book! Helpful, smiley, friendly staff : ) Whatever you do, stay away from the Gryphon cafe in Wayne. It's completely run down, the bathrooms are foul, their dish washer doesn't work so you have to drink out of horrible cardboard cups. It's very tiny too, WC is much more spacious. read more

I've only been to this coffee shop 4 times. The last time I ordered, which was a week ago, I got a hot English tea with a pastry. Later in the afternoon, I ended up with considerable diarrhea. The next day, I told one of the baristas about it- she apologized. I asked them if the cream they gave me was half & half and they said no. It was actually 50% cream and 50% half & half. She said it as if it was some kind of high brow idea unique to Gryphon. When I asked if I could get just half and half, they said no. While I have no qualms with their 50/50 cream, it's hard to believe they omitted half & half instead of offering both- this is a coffee shop, for Christ sake! I often wonder how many people who are lactose intolerant like me do not go to Gryphon just for this reason. As for myself, they lost a customer. read more

We travelled to West Chester specifically for lunch at Gryphon Cafe because we usually love it there. However our experience this weekend wasn't what we've known previously. The mochas we ordered were great as usual, however the food was greesy and underwhelming. We ordered two paninis and there was hardly any cheese or meat on either one. It was barely edible. Then they give you chips instead of salad now. Disappointing. read more

The service here is wonderful today. Both of the baristas were friendly, and one stopped by my table and offered a refill of my coffee. I came a few weeks ago and had a flat white and egg sandwich. The flat white is good; I would say somewhat comparable to the flat white from Portland, OR's Proud Mary, a popular Australian cafe there. The egg sandwich was good, but it wasn't my favorite. I think I had the bagel with goat cheese; if I had a different kind of cheese, I would like it more. Overall, I'd recommend this place for study and coffee. There's lots of space and lighting. Plus, they display/sell local art periodically. read more

Walked by on my delivery route several times and so glad I stopped in. Staff are friendly, place is clean, food is amazing! I tried a blackberry ginger scone and a prosciutto panini. The former was rich and delicious. The latter had a combination of cheeses on it that were to die for. (Also available as the three cheese panini if you're not into prosciutto.) Topped it off with pumpkin spice in my hot apple cider. Great choice. read more

We had the Golden Milk Latte, a regular coffee with almond milk and caramel, and an iced coffee with almond milk and caramel. The Golden Milk I won't complain about too much since I didn't realize what it was, and I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, but unless it's supposed to taste like liquid tumeric, and nothing else, they added way too much. The other 2 coffees were burnt. This place has pretty high reviews so I'm guessing we just came in on an off day, but I've never had coffee that was burnt this bad before. read more

Get the chicken salad sandwich. No seriously. I got it upon someone else's recommendation and it is only what could be described as cool and refreshing as well as light. Everything was served to me in perfect order, and the espresso was served before it expired, perfectly on time. The cappuccino was wonderful and the presentation and staff warm and welcoming. The air in this place overall just feels calm, warm, and welcoming, and can you believe it? CLEAN. I haven't been in this classically wonderful of a coffee shop since I was in Europe.
