Horrible experience! I arrived @8:50am. Waited in line for 11 minutes. When I eventually got to the counter I was told my clothes would not be ready by 5pm the same day. I explained I arrived 10 mins earlier. The employee argued with me for several mins in front of other customers. I came in here several years back to try and get dry cleaning done and the stupid guy at the front told me to go on line when there literally was noone on line except two people who were doing some work bagging clothes and they told me to go to the front. I dropped my Winter Jacket for Dry clean at Zips Chantilly,VA store. The ripped the zip of my jacket. when asked to fix it. i was informed manager will call you and will let you know if we can or not. However, Manager never bothered to call me and when i called he was way too rude. Moreover, they still hold my CK jacket. i need my Jacket back along with fixing the zip. you guys damaged my cloth. NOT at all happy with the service. *They don't even remove lints from your cloths after dry cleaning specially black cloths.* I would rather pay more and get my clothes ready to wear than bringing them over and removing lints. ZIPS just changed their price for men's dress shirts from $1.39 to $1.99. Problem is even some of the employees didn't know about it when I asked that the price for the shirt and regular dry cleaning items where the same, $1.99. The other clerk said they changed their prices. I think this is far too much for dress shirts and will be looking around for another dry cleaning service. read more

I've used ZIPS at several locations. Since moving to Chantilly this is my go to location and by far my favorite. The staff is friendly & helpful. My clothes always come back looking great. Their low price can't be beat. You can even get your comforters cleaned. read more

Be really careful with Zips. There are things they are great for and things that should absolutely not be given to them. They do a great job on shirts and regular laundry and dry cleaning, but go really half-ass on suits. I was stoked to save some money on getting suits cleaned, but when I got then back all the pants were double-creased and the buttons were all stamped into the jackets. I would recommend for shirts and stuff, but not a suit you don't want jacked up. read more

I dropped off a brand new $100 that I had $50 worth of alterations done on (not at zips) for dry cleaning after only wearing it once. It came back with the fabric discolored yellow in certain spots and pills. When I took it back their only response was "Oh that just happens to this kinda of fabric" ????? Not acceptable at all. I will not return to this store and would not recommend it to anyone. I only wish I had seen the 1.5 star rating before taking my items there. read more

I've been cleaning my work shirt with zips for approximately 1 year at this particular location and never had any complaints. My issue with Zips was with their alterations service they provide. Requested for a small rip on my dress shirt pocket to be repaired and they stated that it would be 1 week before it could be fixed. I returned 9 days later to find that my shirt was not ready yet. Ok no biggie, I'm in the customer service field so not an issue. The issue I had on that particular day was that the customer service rep gave me the tailor's information for me to call and ask him when my shirt would be ready. My reply to that was why they wouldn't call this person to inquire when my request would be fulfilled. He stated to me that it wasn't a call they should make. He looked over at another agent who chimes in with a shrug of his shoulders and said that they have no control over this particular service. I returned after 13 days to find that the tailor was unable to fix my tear and my shirt was given back to me. Totally confused because I'm questioning why they offer tailor services if they couldn't fix this small tear. Needless to say I'm no longer a customer. read more

There is an issue with this store in particular every time I try to drop clothes off. They are either having a power outage, or are offline and won't allow you to pay with credit card so you must have cash. I had taken several J.Crew dresses there after a work trip, and when I picked them up they were not the same. The color had been faded so much because of the harsh chemical they use, but the staff didn't see an issue so did not offer a refund. When I used to pick up my husband's dress shirts, they hung and pinned them in a way that when you undo the pins at home, there are creases on the arms, and not the kind that look nice. So FYI, if you have expensive garments I HIGHLY suggest doing your research looking for other cleaners before you let ZIPS Chantilly destroy your clothes. read more

Took 7 items to zips, two dress pants, came back wrinkled: one white jacket with a small stain, asked to have it treated and came back with 5 new stains and yellow; two additional suit jackets; one dress and one mans dress shirt and all the items came back smelling as if I had worn them for months and never bathed...so that was 14 dollars waisted...I do not recommend this dry cleaner... If I could rate them a zero star I would. Time to find a real dry cleaner. read more

I've been using this Zips now for about a year. They consistently please my family's Dry Cleaning needs. One thing that is strange, is that its all cash, but my understanding is that all/most dry cleaners are like this? Anyhow, the work they perform is top notch, and the honesty is wonderful too, every time I pick up, they attach a little baggie with a dollar bill or even a 20 that I somehow left in my pocket. I agree with Emily S. They don't deserve any stars. My clothing was returned to me with brown stains on it after multiple visits. They argued with me about the stains being there when I took them my clothing. One guy actually commented, "we clean thousands of shirts each day and there's no way we could have stained your shirt." That comment was absolutely unprofessional and totally irrelevant to the fact that my clothing is now ruined and I have to replace it. This place is horrible! read more

I had just flown into Dulles Airport from FL for an interview. I had messed up my suit jacket trying to press it at home the night before. I called Zips from the airport and spoke to the manager who told me to bring it right to her. She immediately took the jacket to the back and fixed it while I waited about 10 minutes, and then didn't charge me anything! I tried to give her the $10 bill and my hand and she wouldn't take it. I don't know why I didn't start using Zips sooner....This place is amazing. I've always opted for conventional dry-cleaning stores, but between their high-prices, and poor customer service, I've become a Zips fan. Not only do my shirts smell absolutely fresh, but they are also courteous enough to sew on buttons that are missing free of charge....That's a nice touch. Cost - You just can't beat it. Anywhere. Period. The whole premise about cash-only is due to the fact that this is a low cost provider. This is one reason they are able to keep the costs so low....they make their money on volume. Yes it's inconvenient, but I'd rather pay in cash to save some money. Wait - I've been going here every week for at least a year. Not once have I had to wait more than five minutes to be served, and I can almost always walk up to the counter or have just one or two people in front of me. I used to go to the DryClean Depot in Sterling and had to wait 20 minutes every time I went in due to the long lines that were always there. Service - I've found the staff to be nothing but courteous each and every time I've been there. Quality - I also recommend, as I believe a few others did, to use Zips more for your routine dry cleaning. They're also really cheap when dry cleaning a comforter or blanket. Routine repairs such as buttons being replaced, fixes to pants ripped in the crotch, etc. are also very cheap and they do a good job. I've done these things many times. Suggestions - I would NOT recommend taking in anything that's stained, atypical garments (i.e. leather clothing), or items in need of special repair. I've never taken those things in here, but I wouldn't want to take chances. Why I didn't rate 5 stars - Once in a while my shirts smell like chemicals and may have yellow chemical stains on them. Rare, but it has happened. Zips would get five stars if I never had to deal with this annoying problem. They're rare though, so I'm still a loyal four-star customer. read more

I took a black suit in for cleaning on Wednesday, December 5, 2013. Went to pick the suit up on Friday, December 7, 2013 and it was full of pet hair! (I have no pets) I notified the onsite manager and they took the black suit for re-cleaning. I went today December 10, 2013, to pick up my suit and it was still full of pet hair. I again left the suit and requested Kevin the owner/manager call me to explain why my suit is full of pet hair and why it is taking several times to clean the suit. At this writing I have not received a call from Kevin so I called the store. I was told by Joe (onsite manager) that Kevin (owner/manager) has left for the day! Is it really that difficult to clean a black suit? Where on earth is pet hair coming from in a dry cleaning facility? I realize this is an affordable method of dry cleaning clothes vs the higher price dry cleaning establishments however this does not justify receiving repetitive low quality dry cleaning service for two articles of clothing. Despite my high level of aggravation with the level of dry cleaning service (nonservice) I have received I was never rude or impolite to the store employees. This is a problem which needs resolution by a higher echelon and yelling at employees cannot resolve the matter any sooner! I was assured by the manager each time my black suit would be re-cleaned however with so many cleanings, my concern is that the suit will be shreds when it is finally back in my possession. Joe (onsite manager) assured me today he would leave a note on Kevins' door to have my call returned when he arrives at 7:00 am on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. When I came to pick it up along with other items I dropped off they told me they needed permission to clean it!!! I left my wife's pants to have ZIPS dry cleaned and they damaged the pant. My wife only wore it one time and we did not remember when she had purchased them. I had put down on the form when bought as estimated maybe six months but told Kevin that it's less than that but Kevin did not change the months on the form at left it at 6 months. We received a check which is not what we paid for and where is the amount that we paid for the dry cleaning itself. This is not to mentioned that we had to come back a couple of times to have it redone. Very disappointed with this company. read more

I took my dress pants, dress skirt, and a few shirts in. The skirt and shirts came back looking faded. As for the pants... They used a hot iron on them, when they are cool press only. I told the girl this when dropping them off and she just nodded. When I got the pants back and went to wear them to work. The pants had marks all over them! My first thought was why the heck would they give this back to me in this condition? Honestly anyone can see the pants are messed up. I took the pants back in, thinking, I would receive apology and they would fix it or replace my $98 pants. NO the girl blamed me! Saying they only do hot and I wanted them pressed. As I explained to her NO ONE told me they did not do cool press. It was their responsibility to inform me when I checked the pants in, and when they went to press the pants seeing cool iron only they should not of used the hot iron. The woman was rude, impatient, and told me that they would fix it but I was not to bring the pants back. NO PROBLEM I will NEVER EVER GO BACK. Oh and I should mention the pants where ruined. They burnt the fabric. She claimed it was not burnt and dry cleaning would take out the marks. Not true. I now have two brand new pairs of ruined $98 pants. read more

First time I've ever had to do a one star review. Dropped off a suit for alteration and they weren't ready even two weeks after they were promised to be ready. When it was as "ready," it included the suit top but not the pants! Wasn't warned that the pants hadn't been done and caught it before leaving the premises. Came back three separate times to pick it up, spoke with the manager (Joe), and each time received a different excuse why the suit wasn't there (tailor didn't come in, tailor fixed it but it hasn't been dry cleaned yet, it was dry cleaned but tailor didn't fix it). Didn't receive a note back from the corporate office when contacted. Finally asked to have it returned or else was going to claim lost merchandise. When received the suit back, the alteration was only half done and still had the rip that hadn't been fixed. Would not recommend. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could! I have had the worst customer service ever at this location today!! It's not even worth the whole story, but I will never return to this Zips again! I will make this short - They refused to dry-clean an item even after they accepted it from my husband - however they didn't notify us, I went to pick up a gown and it was never touched. They charged us to clean the gown and the shawl (which is literally a strip of fabric) - however when I went to get the gown they said that we didn't pay for both pieces even though I had both receipts showing we paid for both! The woman couldn't understand why I was upset - I even asked how I was supposed to wear just a shawl without a gown - she didn't understand!!! I will never go back to this zips, and I urge you to avoid it too! We have had too many problems here... They have lost our money! read more

Lots of my neighbors love Zips but my experiences have been mediocre at best. I feel like 'you get what you pay for' as several clothing items haven't appeared to be as clean as expected when received (stains remain; residue can be seen). Additionally I am disappointed in the condition of a good comforter I took in to be cleaned. I just put it back on the bed and it's filled with lumps and bumps where the inner batting clearly got squished and condensed during the cleaning process. This isn't a resolvable situation, unfortunately. I should've just taken it to a laundromat and put it in a large-capacity washer (which would've cost a whole lot less than $20). The comforter is never going to be the same and the appearance of it has been greatly compromised. I think I am done with Zips; would rather pay a few $$ more at the local dry cleaner in South Riding who has always done a great job with our cleaning. read more

Very displeased with he level of service from staff and owner. Was missing an item when I went to pick up clothing. Staff tried to tell me they miscounted my shirts and gave me $1 and change for my garment. When I advised them that there was a garment missing, the staff member I was dealing with got very defensive and not easy to talk too. I was issued a ticket to be resolved in 60 to 90 days. During that period I called twice with no return calls. Called after the date on ticket and spoke with owner who apologized and stated he would get back with me by the end of business on that day with a resolution. I am still awaiting a call from him. read more

Zips is cheap and fast, but they don't know how to press a suit. Lapels were uneven, the liner inside was very wrinkled, and worst of all they stuck their stupid tags right through the sleeve. I should have known better because I had problems with Zips previously, but the other cleaners near me are too slow. I won't take suits or new clothes to Zips any more. read more

I guess that they're right when they say "you get what you pay for". Very cheap and cheap job they do. If you really care about the stains coming off you better think again because it ain't gonna happen here. I had a couple of shirts with wine and coffee stains on them, they're still there and since the first attempt was unsuccessful, I can't even take them someplace else, it's too late for that. If you have just regular clothes that don't need to be dry cleaned just refreshed, this place is affordable but if you need actual dry cleaning please do yourself a favor and look someplace else. read more

As a customer doing business with Zips at this specific location for OVER 2 years I was really dissapointed at the way they value their customers. I was $0.35, short so I asked if I could pay the 35 cents when picking up my shirts. The attendant tode me she "does not make the rules" and that I could get money out of the ATM they have inside the store (a $3 fee to pay 35 cents) or take a shirt back out of the pile. Dissapointed to see this bussines cannot be flexible enough to work with its customers. For a mere 35 cents you people have lost a customer who used to spend $400 a year with you. See ya! read more

DO NOT USE THE CHANTILLY STORE .. the owner is completely rude and will NEVER return your call. I dropped my daughters dress to be dry cleaned back in September (note it has been 8 months now). When we picked up the dress it was torn. We didn't realize this until we got home. I immediately called the store and was told the owner is the only one who handles complaints. I left my information so he could call me back. A week went by and didn't hear from him. I called again and left my information for him to call. This has been going on for some time until finally I threaten to take him to small claims court. Surprisingly, I get a call from the owner Mr. York who goes about telling me not to threaten him with taking him to court. He then offer to try and have the dress fixed, that he has a wonderful seamstress. So I went a dropped off the dress, IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS and one of the employees who works there told me it's just hanging there, that NOTHING has been done. So, here I am trying to get a hold of Mr. York again for the last week leaving messages with his employees and guess what... HE HAS YET TO CALL ME BACK. I know one thing ..... This is one of those reviews that if I could give them 0 stars I would. It's also one of those experiences where you pay for what you get. From the owner Kevin to their manager they have never attended a customer service training which is apparent if you have a issue. They stained 3 of my dress shirts took over 3 weeks to get them fixed, I had to follow up multiple times after being promised calls back from Kevin. My first experience with their evening manager came as I went to pick up the clothes I dropped off and there was one other person working with him. He finished with his customer made eye contact with me and then walked out without saying a word. Assuming to make a phone call or just get away from the customers waiting. When the employee finished with her customer she informed me my clothes were damaged and didn't offer know what to do about it. She then went outside to get her manager who asked me if I wanted to just take my clothes home, 2 of the shirts were purchased 2 weeks prior and was only the 2nd time they were getting dry cleaned. The manager then suggested I take time out of my day to call Kevin the next day and try to get ahold of him not knowing when exactly he would be at the store. Customer service 101 you don't have the customer making multiple calls and following-up on a issue that YOU created. Had they have ruined my $900 suit I just purchased and also dropped off with them it would have escalated even further. Kevin called me on week 3 letting me know my clothes were ready and that he would offer me a credit for future service. When I asked him how much he said "probably $10-$15, I'm not sure yet but more likely on the $10 side". I'm glad that you almost ruined 3 shirts that cost in excess of $200 required me to follow-up with you multiple times and that experience was worth a $10 credit. Either way there wasn't a chance I was going to give them a second opportunity to ruin my clothes. If you want to truly save your money take your items to somewhere that respects their community, customers and wants to at the very minimum provide the services their paid to. read more

I would give this place a 0 rating if I could. Took a pair of slacks and a silk shirt in to be dry cleaned and 1 shirt to be laundered. Picked up today and was told that I had a $2.29 refund because my silk shirt came back tagged "rejected - not dry clean" so they didn't do anything to it because they could not find a tag in the garment even though I had requested dry clean and have never had a problem getting it dry cleaned anywhere else. I signed for my refund and they gave me my shirt on a hanger and it had obviously been LAUNDERED ! It was faded, wrinkled the trim was coming off and it smelled clean. I was told " sorry we can't do anything about it." I ,nor anyone else in my family will ever use this dry cleaner again. To make matters worse, when I got home and checked my husband's shirt, several of the buttons were cracked off. HORRIBLE SERVICE !! read more

Although the price is great, I highly regret dropping a few of my items off for service. The item I was highly disappointment about was my traditional Korean dress that was dropped off at the Chantilly location with a few of my other items. When I initially picked up my few items, my daughter's dress didn't looked like there was any work done. One sleeve folded and the other unfolded with crease marks. I confronted one of the workers who took a good look at the item and didn't refuse to put it back in line for additional service as well as my Korean dress that looked like it had been worn. The 2nd time I went to go pick up the same items, I noticed my dress had what looked like bleach marks. Because I had an issue the first time I went to go pick the items up, I decided to call Corporate. For Customer Service, I received the answering machine of Amy Spencer. My name, number and complaint went straight from Corporate to Kevin, the Owner of the Chantilly location who agreed to look at my dress and hear the issue I had. When I got back to the Chantilly location, Kevin explained to me that bleach bleeds on fabric a certain way and that there would be multiple colors shown on the dress, trying to reassure to me the company does not use any form of bleach and that the stain had to be on the dress prior to even being dropped off at their location "even though it wasn't visible at the time". He explained by the process taken by ZIPS to clean the dress that the cleaning only made the stain visible. Then Kevin noticed a specific tag by ZIPS "PRESS ONLY" then saying there definitely was no way the stain was at all from ZIPS. I was frustrated with where the conversation was going...which was nowhere but the blame of the stain being my fault so to end the conversation I asked "is this how the dress should look after its pressed". He explained the dress would accumulate creases the longer it stayed on their rotating rack until pickup. I was just out of words at this point. This man had an excuse for everything. Since when does items that are properly dry cleaned accumulate creases amongst all of their other properly dry cleaned items? My conclusion, they simply aren't because they were not properly dry cleaned. When I explained to Kevin why I contacted HQ, his response was disappointing once again. "Well when you call HQ, they yell at me about the issue." Could this explain my multiple calls going straight to the voice message of Amy Spencer (Customer Services) who only directs me to leave my name, number and the location I had visited? After this experience, I am looking for a dry cleaner where I am not focus on the price of what they charge per garment but the quality of their work. I just knew this was too good to be true. read more
