I grew up on the Mediterranean diet, so I was excited to try this Palestinian restaurant... and we were not disappointed. Every meal was fantastic and the service was great..! Looking for a new spot for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with outdoor seating. This place didn't have any heat lamps, but it was warm enough to be outside without being uncomfortable. To share, ordered the Baba Ghanouj and Pita ($9) - a medium sized plate ot mezze/oil paired with toasted pita bread. Amazing flavor in the dish, as well as a perfect balance of texture. For the main course, decided on the Kofta Wrap ($9) and Fries ($3) - the wrap has a surprisingly mild flavor, so needed help from the side of spiced tahini. Fries are cooked well, seasoned with a masala blend that added a nice kick. Service can take a little bit as only one person had to be the hostess/waitress/server for the entire spot. Cute little Palestininian restaurant in Beacon came here after going to fish kill farm. I came here with my family. We got Lucky because it's pretty busy on the weekends here. We got a table of 8, and our waiter was super nice. Good wine selection at great prices, food was delicious. We started with this delicious app sampler with some warm pita bread and we got the zataar bread that came with tomatoes and cucumbers. We loved it. As our Entrees we got chicken shawarma for the kids and the kofta burger with zaatar fries was delicious. My brother and mom got the mix grill with choice of rice or hummus they really enjoyed it. They really did not have any desserts here just pound cakes. But it's okay after all we ate we didn't have space. I recommend it if your around definitely will be back read more

COVID update. Hallelujah! My first restaurant meal since early March. Thanks to the non-hurricane, our power was out and we were at the point where we thought our food in the fridge would be safe if we didn't open it, so we ventured out for food. Most of Beacon was similarly without power but when Ziatun appeared to be powered and serving to a socially-distanced patio setting, I about screeched with happiness. The full menu is available right now and the patio is set up now where it extends into the street a bit. I felt 100% comfortable eating here with the tables spaced well apart and wish it were under other circumstances so I could have fully appreciated the experience (I was so worried about the power not coming back on and spoiler alert, it didn't for another 16 hours). A glass of Pinot Noir helped soothe my nerves a bit. Ditto the perfectly spiced lentil soup and za'atar bread and dreamy hummus. I normally order the rice bowl but wanted to sample a few different things. This meal was the perfect medicine. I need to get back on my food review game! It feels kind of foreign, honestly. As a snobby New Yorker, I was pleasantly surprised to find good, solid Middle Eastern food in a small town like Beacon, let alone one run by actual Middle Eastern people. I'm so glad my friends and I chose to stop in here for lunch. We got the housemade hummus, which is probably the best hummus I've ever had. It's definitely way better than the store-bought stuff. While researching an excursion to the Beacon area, I saw many enthusiastic recommendations for Ziatun and decided to file it away as a meal destination option. We wound up walking past the restaurant when we made it to town, and the food I saw in front of each diner looked fabulous! So, we decided to sit at one of their curbside tables for lunch. After previous elaborate vacation meals, I knew grilled Middle Eastern food was exactly what I needed. The Grilled Vegetable Platter included fire-roasted peppers, zucchini, squash, and onions, served over my choice of hummus or rice and salad. I decided to avoid the onions and requested more of the other veggies instead. I also ordered the well-seasoned vegetable slices over their homemade hummus, which was smooth, creamy, and delicious, though could have used a bit more garlic. I also received a basket of mediocre pitas for dipping. My boyfriend devoured his Kofta Kebab, which he had paired with rice and a salad of diced cucumbers and tomatoes. I sampled a forkful of that salad and thought that it was a bit mushy and not as fresh as I would have liked. Lastly, as much as I had wanted to eat lean, I could not refrain from stealing a few of my companion's Za'atar Fries. The huge basket of thinly cut, perfectly crisped potatoes had been tossed in a bold za'atar seasoning and were extremely addicting. This restaurant had pretty tasty food, but they are not great at handling special requests. The servers can also be terse and unfocused, and the wait is sometimes unpredictable. We had six people plus one who showed up later and he got his own bill. They charged him 20% also even though he was one person! Because of the pandemic, I wasn't able to dine in of course, but the restaurant itself seemed pleasant enough and the one staff person I encountered was nice and polite. Sadly, the photos I took of my fries and wrap are MIA, but trust me when I say they were tasty. I recommend the zaatar fries as an accompaniment to the wraps. The fries are thin, crispy, and very well seasoned. The falafel wrap was very good, stuffed but not overstuffed with crispy falafel pickled vegetables, and fresh lettuce, cuke, and tomato. I liked that the wrap itself wasn't too thick. I can't wait to return for the halloumi. The rose lemonade is extra delicious, especially because it isn't cloyingly sweet. I shall return. read more

Came on a Sunday afternoon with the family (4 of us). Fall weather was really nice - fairly warm, and it was moderately busy. Gave our name and was told wait would be about 25 min - they would call when the table was ready. Walked around for about 20 min and returned. Waited another 10 min and went to check. Had already skipped us without calling and seated another table. Apologized - No issues mistakes can be made. They currently only have outside seating with two tables that can seat 4, and four 2 seater tables. All workers are wearing masks. Ended up waiting about another 25 min. Instead of printed menus, you have to use your phone to scan a QR code and pull it up. We ordered an appetizer, soup, and 3 entrees. I also showed our waitress a coupon for checking in via Yelp. The soups came first, then the appetizer a few mins later + just one of our entrees at the same time. About 15 min later then our other 2 entrees came. In the end food was pretty good, however service, while friendly, could use some work logistically. It's a little expensive as well for the amount you get. For some reason only our table got disposable solo cups while other tables got glass/real cups? Never did get that free drink for checking in either. read more

Food was out in less than 10 minutes and high quality ... Lentil soup was unlike any lentil soup I've ever had - smashed lentils in a tasty broth ... Small, intimate, cozy, date night, secluded, type of spot. We were craving exactly what Ziatun had to offer and upon finding it right by us, we had to come give it a try. We were a party of 6 and had no idea how tiny this spot was. When we walked in we thought there was no way they would be able to accommodate us without making a reservation. The staff was extremely nice and fixed up two tiny tables for us and we made it work. We basically ordered everything in the menu and my goodness was it delicious. I love how close and intimate this little hole in the wall is and how delicious the food was. Everything on the menu was delicious not to mention dessert. Baklava is always a must try! I ordered the falafel wrap and it was delicious! Truthfully it wasn't so much the food but also the whole experience. We cracked open a few bottles of wine, ordered some appetizers, soups and main courses and we were so good and ready to go. What I loved about it is that our friend couldn't eat gluten so they made sure that when we ordered the hummus (which comes with the pita bread) they brought him cucumbers and he used them as chips! Everyone was happy! Great spot if you're vegetarian as well. Will definitely come back here next time we're in the area. Great choice! There's really not many places to eat in Beacon so this place is popular, especially bc it's one of the non-American food fares. While the food can range from meh (kofka kebab) to good (lamb shawarma bowl), it took a really long time to come out. It took awhile to get seated at 4:30/5pm on a Saturday and then the food took just as long to come out... so lol @ life. Obviously it was our choice to wait and eat here, but I'd advise that if you do decide to put your name down on the waitlist here to have a backup spot as well in the area to be safe. read more

We found this place while on a day trip in Beacon - it was exactly what we were looking for! Healthy, yet yummy, food that would not weigh us down. We got the lamb wrap and the falafel with fries - Just a basic order, but it really wowed us. The lamb was tender and wonderfully seasoned...the falafel was perfect, and the fries...omg...delicious! Excellent smoky baba ganoush, crunchy felafel, olives, foule, and more. Then we shared lamb shish kabob -- three small skewers of tender lamb, with rice and salad. Very good. Hits the mark pretty squarely on the nose for Middle Eastern food. As my Lebanese dining partner commented, "The mark of good Middle Eastern is the tabouleh...if you get that right, you know what you're doing." And the tabouleh is pretty awesome. As is the hummus, the foule, the falafel, the halloumi...seeing the pattern here? I mean, for mezze plates, these guys are doing it right. I have a couple of minor dings that drop them to 4 from 5 stars. #1 - the pita. Ungh, you know that super soft pita you get that tears about and tastes super fluffy and delicious? Well, this is not that pita. It is not bad, it just doesn't match up with the quality of the rest of their stuff. #2 - the za'tar bread. Umm, just not working for me. a pita fried to within an inch of its life and then drowned in za'tar seasoning. #3 - the prices. For a casual Mediterranean place, I would expect a slightly more reasonable bill. I get that the Beacon tax is in effect and all, but honestly the amount of food delivered for the prices was not the value I was expecting. So definitely go, and order lots of stuff, and maybe expect your wallet to be a little lighter than you'd expect after a meal like this. Very glad we have Ziatun as an option. read more

Had an incredible experience at Ziatun tonight. From the moment we sat down our server Emad took fantastic care of us. He was friendly and engaging and gave us strong recommendations about what was good. This was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time. I got the Shwarma wrap at Emad's recommendation and it was delicious. A fantastic blend of flavors and textures and the Fries were fantastic as well. I'm very sad that I am not more local and can't come here more often. We sat outside and the tables were nice and comfortable. This Mediterranean spot has great Zatar bread and the hummus is delicious. We also tried the Arabic coffee and it was pretty decent. Apparently, there is fortune reading upon request which was quite unique if you ordered the coffee. This place has a very cozy and relaxing vibe. Definitely hole in the wall. I would check it out again but it can be very busy with a 20 mins wait on the weekend. We were lucky to beat the rush hour. Would definitely recommend checking it out.
