I thought I could get the best of both worlds, but now have to run a separate system for blink. I talked to Omar 10/25. I complained that because they gave me bad info, I have to invest in additional equipment (sync module, echo show, and new router. From what I've been reading on the forums. It doesn't play well with the xfinity router). He told me they weren't charging me for the security equipment or installation so I let it go. I find out today, they actually are and they basically tell me there is nothing they will do. Sso much for their "satisfaction garauntee". Maybe I'll keep it. If I pull it out, I'll let you know how it goes. Just be careful when you talk to these them. I've been getting bad information. They might wonder why I never stick around for their surveys. It's because it sometimes takes a week or so before you find out the customer service agent didn't do what they told you they did. FYI: The system itself works OK for what it's supposed to do. I just wish their people were knowledgable enough to have told me what it was supposed to do instead of telling me what I "wanted to hear".

However some things to note:…read more-The internet can be knocked out during bad weather (snow storms, thunderstorms, etc) since it is delivered wirelessly to the building (at least in my building's case). -Reliability when weather isn't a factor is incredibly high in my experience compared to other ISPs. -Speed is awesome. My building is supported for 100mbps, but I usually get around 200-300mbps download speeds, and at least 200mbps upload speed at all times. Sometimes my upload or download will peak around 500mbps. -Their support staff really knows their stuff. It's not like calling another ISP's support where you get tier1 support who asks you do to the basic troubleshooting. The support staff you get when you first call is likely the person who will truly be able to fix your issue. I work in IT, and absolutely appreciate this. THAT SAID, their hold times when calling for support are usually pretty terrible. I've been on hold before (including last night) for 1+ hours and then the call gets disconnected for whatever reason. Their email/online support is pretty lackluster. No way of updating or creating tickets online short of emailing them. In my current case, I've emailed them in response to a ticket and they seem to ignore the email altogether. I'm now trying to call them to get the issue resolved. Overall, I'd give them an A- as a grade. If they could up their support, it'd be the best ISP out there.

Let me preface by stating i have a 1gigabit internet thru the fine folks from RCN who also have excellent customer service. Layer3 TV is an internet based cable solution. Their feed runs thru your internet. and they have 4K. I admit i was skeptical at first but once i switched i have not looked back. The picture quality is amazing and the customer service is outstanding. They are new to the Chicago area so there are a few kinks but you can tell with the technology they use they will become a force. When I got back on Sunday, my internet was still down. Alex came over Sunday night after carving pumpkins with his kids. He diagnosed that there must have been a power surge that took 6 or 7 units offline on Friday. In the process, my router got toasted. I live in an old building and I'm embarrased to admit I didn't have a surge protector on it. He not only diagnosed my dead router, he gave me a new one I could have until I got another one. But one person giving quality support for less than 12 months after terrible service for about 5(?) years...well, you do the math. Two things people need to know: 1) The support number is routed to the personal cell phone of whichever tech is on call. Before I realized this, I called around 7am and woke up whoever that dude was (not Jack) because the WiFi had been down for the past 12-ish hours. He was pissed and tried to hide his anger as he told me I'd just have to wait for it stop raining...as if it was my fault that the company has a call forwarding arrangement. The support arrangement eventually just turned into my texting Jack directly...which meant having to consider if I'm interrupting the man's day off, vacation, etc. Texting somebody's personal cell is not the way to run a business. 2) Literally every time it rains the service goes out. I don't mean thunderstorms. I mean the lightest light drizzle that you don't need an umbrella for. And it's far more frequent than it should be. No one should have to wonder if they're going to have service today because it's overcast, it's ridiculous. Over the past month, I can count at least 3 times, back to back, when it rained for about 1-2 hours and service wasn't restored for 12-24+ hours later, and that's no exaggeration. At the very least, it'd be nice if they offered some form of compensation off the bill, but nah. My last correspondence with Jack was his letting me know when they'd have service restored (30 hours dark on this incident), and he informed me that they'd be spending this month upgrading their equipment to stop this from happening. By then, my wife and I had already decided to make the switch to Astound. Also, 30 days of being expected to roll the dice? Yeah, no. It's a dark and drizzly morning while I'm writing this review and I'm 99% certain that I wouldn't be online right now had I not made that change. Good luck with that upgrade, guys.
