We had a wonderful experience at this Verizon store and in particular with Vicky A., who assisted us with our entire transaction. We traded in our older iPhones and bought a new Apple Watch, and Vicky helped us take advantage of every discount/offer available to us and also assisted with the process of transferring our existing data to the new devices, etc. Her professionalism was exceeded only by her friendly and upbeat attitude! If only there was a 0 star option. To begin, this store isn't even a Verizon. They're a franchise and their ability to help someone is very limited. They aren't communicative whatsoever and give ranges for what your bill may be. We were signed up for a plan we didn't agree to. Had to come back three times to get on the right plan. We were told we'd receive $1,000 towards trade-ins which was untrue as well. Their staff has zero training when it comes to multi-tasking. One person might be helping you and three other people at the same time vs just giving someone their full attention. They're taking phone calls and meetings while they're supposedly helping, unprofessional to say the least. The icing on the cake was when we were cancelling our service the store manager took a picture of us on the sly to tell his associate we were cancelling. Who takes pictures of their customers. This store is the worst. Store manager I know you're going to comment and say let's talk and let's see how I can help. Just teach Jake how to tell the truth with customers. Teach Tramel to not take pictures of customers. Very unprofessional. This place sucks. read more

They can and will charge you for unasked for promotions and fees. Getting an itemized receipt or any kind of clear explanation of the fees from the associates was like pulling teeth. Altogether very shady. Also, the store WiFi went out well I was there and halted my transaction indefinitely. I had to come back the next day. They said this happens all the time. Because they're a reseller and not an official store, they cannot (won't?) process returns for Home 5G hardware, you're on your own. I've spent hours on the phone with Verizon service to try and get my hardware returned, and charges refunded. Gigantic waste of time. Wish I never stepped foot in this store and sough service here! I recently had to get a new iPhone as I had a 6 and the battery was barely making a half day. This Verizon store is close to where I live - didn't even know it was in the neighborhood. Went I walked into the store - I was immediately greeted and subsequently Chris helped me get my new iPhone! He was super knowledgeable, kind and approachable and made what can often be a frustrating process super easy! This was a great reminder why I love Verizon, and also, that this store is top notch. The first thing you need to know is this is NOT an official Verizon store despite the branding outside. They WILL try to hustle you by bundling in accessories and and playing with the trade in value of your phone, etc. Very shady and very smooth about it. If I could give zero stars, I would. I recently switched over from T-mobile to Verizon, and I came into the west madison branch about a week ago to begin the process. They made a mistake during every step of the process. I was fine with the fact that they didn't have the phone I wanted in stock and that I had to order it. They promised it would be there in two days: I ordered it on Thursday and was told it would be there on Saturday. I came on Monday and they told me it still hadn't arrived because of Columbus Day on Monday. When I pointed out that they said it would be there by Saturday, they literally just stared at me and said, "well, it didn't come in." Fine. I told them to call me when it arrived. It arrived on Thursday, but that was a full week later. I would have been fine waiting a week for a phone to arrive, but why tell me it was 2 day shipping? And they didn't even bother to apologize. Second, when the phone arrived, I was told it would only take 15 minutes to transfer my info from my old phone to the new one, and another 15 minutes to switch from my old provider, so 30 minutes to complete the whole process from start to finish. So I came about 1 hour before I had to leave for work (I work only 5 minutes away). It took a while to log into my gmail account (for whatever reason, I was told I couldn't set up the phone without a gmail account? Why?) Once we started the transfer, the timer on the phone said it would take almost 50 minutes to complete. And we still hadn't switched providers. When I told them they said it would only take 15 minutes to complete the transfer, they just gave me an annoyed look and actually blamed me, stating it took so long because I had to retrieve the gmail account password that I had forgotten. What does that have to do with how long it would take to transfer my info from my old phone? They said THAT process would only take 15 minutes, not nearly an hour. So, I had to interrupt the transfer to leave to work and told them I'd be back the next day. I come back AGAIN and finally completed the transfer. Previously, I had created a pin with the employee I worked with previously. Found out she typed in the wrong pin number when she entered it in the first time, so we had to call Verizon to change the pin number, which slowed us down. And the icing on the cake was that they promised they ported my number, but when I got to work, my number didn't work at all on my new phone, the temporary number they created was still active. I call them and was told it might take up to 2 hours for my old provider to release the number. However, It didn't port at all. They Literally made a mistake EVERY step of the way and then not only didn't apologize or acknowledge their mistakes, but tried to blame me. Awful service. read more

I came to the store one Saturday for the sole purpose of buying a full price phone. Pretty unusual but not unheard of. I was excited to be able to treat myself for something nice. I paid for the phone plus $129.99 for an "in store shipping charge". I was satisfied when I left the shop; the cost of the phone was exactly what I'd researched online prior to visiting the shop. When I arrived to pick up my phone 4 days later, I was told that I was inadvertently under-charged for the new phone by a tidy sum (15% markup, anyone?). The only solution, I was told, was to return the new phone and order the cheaper (but same) phone online. Dismayed, I called Verizon myself to understand why couldn't I get this very phone that was delivered to me via this store for the same price at online. After asking a myriad of questions, here's what you need to know about this particular Verizon store. 1) This is not a corporate store. It is a franchise. Note the name "Premium Retailer" on their wall signage. 2) Franchise stores are allowed to charge more for their phones than corporate stores or the Verizon online website. (?!?!?!) 3) The workers are nice but handcuffed by the strict rules dictated by Verizon on how refunds and exchanges are handled at the franchise store. 4) If you are in the market for a new phone, order online or call the store to confirm ahead of time to determine what kind of Verizon store they are. 5) Verizon has no customer service alternatives. Either you adhere to what their systems can do or don't bother trying. I give the staff at this location credit for trying to accommodate my request, and they apologized for the error and lack of transparency. It's a shame that the franchise model is broken at Verizon, and it's even more horrendous that there is no complimentary customer service across the Verizon system that meets the needs of the consumer rather than the franchisee. It's clear that these types of stores (franchise) are best suited for phone repair, switching cellular companies, or upgrading your phone when the opportunity arises. But if you plan to buy a phone before your upgrade is triggered, do yourself a favor: buy online or go to a corporate store. read more

The screen on my iPhone5 shattered last week and since I was up for an upgrade in October, I went into Verizon to see if there was a temporary solution. I called the store ahead of time to find out what my options were. I anticipated purchasing an Otter Box case or something to keep the broken glass from being harmful, but Erik (the new Mgr.) advised I would really like the Tempered Glass. When I stopped in later that night, sure enough the Tempered Glass was just what I needed to fix the problem and he was kind enough to apply this. I also proceeded to tell him in person that I was hesitant about stopping in based on a few Yelp reviews, but he dispelled any thoughts I had about this location. Erik was very knowledgeable on the products, was able to review my plan and also provided me with his contact information so I could reach back out once I am ready for my upgrade. WARNING - RATINGS ARE MISLEADING BECAUSE THEY OFFER DISCOUNTS TO THOSE WHO POST GOOD RATINGS BELOW ARE A SERIES OF TRUE FACTS/PROBLEMS I went to Mobile Generation because it was close to my work and that I felt too lazy to walk the 4 blocks from my house to the Verizon store. When I walked in the store and staff seemed friendly. They seemed to know what they are talking about. I decided to upgrade my plan - 4 phones on a family line to essentially the same updated plan. Should be routine. The first issue was that apparently the FedEx people stole 1 of my 4 phones so they had to obtain another from the manufacturer. This took another week. Ok, not their fault so no hard feelings. However, they called me about a week ago and said my phones were now in. However, the iPhone color that I ordered was not the one they had. I'm not married to the color but found this to be unprofessional. Because I ordered the new Samsung S5, there was a buy one get one free promotion. However, given that I paid for it initially but that one of the phones was stolen, I didn't activate the phone for about 2 weeks later. This led to the activation date being outside the window of the rebate. Mobile Generation said don't worry about it even though I called Verizon rebates ahead of time and they said this would be a problem. Mobile Generation basically told me not to worry about it and did not seem to care this was an issue (because it's $300 out of my pocket...they already made the sale). Believe me, this became a huge issue as my rebate was denied and I had to appeal it and show statements when I paid for it one day and activated it later. Because Mobile Generation is a third-party vendor, Verizon had no records of a stolen phone, etc. so essentially I was left on my own trying to reclaim $300. Lastly, I got the first bill for the new plan there was a new problem. Mobile Generation said they could view it but couldn't do much more. So I called Verizon on why I had an upgrade charge on each line ($120) which Mobile Generation said I would not have (and this wasn't necessarily them throwing me a freebie but I had a flyer from Verizon saying no upgrade charges because I am a long time customer). Well go figure...they issued an upgrade charge on each line and Mobile Generation couldn't do anything about it (they are exclusively vendors). When I called Verizon, they said the new plan was NEVER activated. Mobile Generation issued 4 new phones under the same old Share Everything plan, although the contract I signed is for the new More Everything plan. When I informed Verizon of this, they had to literally change the entire plan over, which screwed up billing leaving hundreds of dollars charged in the old plan and new plan. Because it literally took about 4 hours to clear this entire ordeal up over the phone, Verizon just credited by first month (thankfully). Mobile Generation are exclusively vendors. They make commission off signing new plans, selling phones, and selling insurance. Once there is a financial problem or the problems I stated above, they can't help (and actually weren't helpful at all, and to a certain extend lied to me). They made obvious mistakes in activating my plan, waiving upgrade charges, etc.. I would never go to them again. I'd rather take a ticket at the Verizon store and wait 30 minutes knowing that if there is a problem, they have full record of all transactions and can quickly remedy any problem that manifests. I understand their system may be convoluted but I rather have Verizon trained employees dealing with my account that Mobile Generation employees. It's ridiculous how much trouble I had to go through just to upgrade a pre-existing plan, get 4 new phones, and receive the correct bill on the new plan I signed up for. I learned my lesson. If the price is the same why would I go to a 3rd party retailer when the nearest Verizon store is close by. Never again. read more

I switched to Verizon from Tmobile last month. I truly regret it. I bought a new phone with them and even purchased their most expensive mobile generation plan. This plan is a one time charge of 149, it covers lost, stolen, accidental damage. That is a bunch of bullshit. I cracked my screen after having the phone for a month. So I went back. And they tell me I have to pay another $240! What's the point of paying for the insurance??!! With tmobile, I didn't have to worry about deceiving salesmen trying to sell me their mobile generation bullshit insurance. It says immediate replacement, that's bs, I am waiting 3 days to get a new phone. I could have gotten the regular insurance and not had to deal with this. Tmobile would give me a replacement or lost for free! read more

In sum, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in this city. After dropping and damaging my phone, I stopped by to ask about options I had until my contract ended in less than 2 months. While the first gentleman, Andre, was helpful initially, he needed to ask the other employee for input on additional questions. The other employee, who seemed to be more experienced, was rude in just about every way. He did not listen well, interrupted nearly each time I spoke, and treated me as if I wanted something for nothing. He also was condescending and provided no helpful solutions that I would expect from a Verizon premium retailer. Lastly, the prices in this store were significantly higher for the same phone as listed on the website. As a result of this experience, I am seriously considering about leaving Verizon when my contract ends. You would think that Verizon and its affiliates would want to keep loyal customers in the fold, but this was not the case here. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. I walked in to find a new iPhone case. This store is maybe 500sq feet and I was the only customer. There were three people working - one guy on the phone and two people behind the counter talking to each other. I walk past all three to the iPhone cases. I wasn't even acknowledged. I'm a well dressed man that's 6'3" so it's not like they think I'm homeless and have no money and I am certainly visible over the counter. They clearly noticed me but not so much as a hello. I looked at the cases for about two minutes then asked aloud "are these the only cases?" No one answered. The two just kept chatting with each other. I said "nevermind I must be invisible." On my way out the guy on the phone asked if I needed help. I told him too late. Three people working and no one in the store and I have to ASK for help? And even then no one responds. No thanks. Ill take my business elsewhere. And they looked at me like I was crazy. That's why you work at a Verizon store. And chances are, you always will. read more

My iPhone recently broke and so I wanted to get a usable phone as soon as possible. I went to this store at 7 pm on a Monday night and was worried I would be waiting around for service but was pleasantly surprised! Eric, the store manager, helped me out and was incredibly efficient, knowledgeable and friendly! He answered all my questions and quickly set me up with a new phone. I was out of the store and had my phone all set up to my accounts very quickly! Although it is true that you earn a discount on an accessory for giving a yelp review that would not change my 5 star rating. This was my most painless experience at a cellular carrier store and I received great customer service! read more

Important to note - this is not an actual Verizon Wireless store. It is a third party that Verizon allows to sell their plans. Meaning that VZW does not sell you the phone and they do not protect you against any third party predatory practices. The phones are sold by the third party so they are allowed to mark them up at will. I went to this store to get a new phone and plan. It took nearly 3 hours. Throughout the process they told me they were having a special where I could get free activation plus a free phone case, a charger, and screen wipes with my purchase of a new phone. Cool. I checked their selection and didn't find a case I would actually want. He pushed and said just take one, "it's free". At the end he offered me a jetpack for $15 a month. I declined as I would probably never use it and couldn't justify the $15. He said how about $8 a month? Still no. He lowers to a whisper and says, "How about $2?" Seriously for $2? Sure, I suppose I could have it as a backup if I ever needed it. I traded in my existing phone (1 year old iPhone 6) for a $125 credit and paid an additional ~$400 that day, in what I assume was towards my device (iPhone 7) and first month's plan. As I go to leave I realize that they never gave me a receipt or any of my other "free" items. VZW receipts are usually a mile long. He prints me out this basic word doc. My first clue that something wasn't above board. I got home and start reading through everything to discover that my $600 phone has monthly payments that add up to $600. What about that $400 I spent and my $125 trade in? It went towards the "free" items they gave me. $525 for a case I didn't want, screen wipes and a basic battery pack. I called VZW corporate and they said there was no record of my trade in or my $400 payment. There was nothing they could do since it was a third party. I would have to fight the company instead. I took back the items several days later and there was only one guy in the building. He claimed he was not senior enough to help and that there was no manager in store. He said the only guy who could help me wouldn't be back to work for several days. If I chose to pursue it they couldn't give me my old phone or number back so I would have to start the process all over and pay more somewhere else while I tried to get a refund. When I got my first bill, the line activation was there and the $2 jetpack he pushed and pushed? $10 a month friends, and its a 2 year contract! After several phone calls they at least admitted that the only way for them to make money was to pull the whole "free" package "deal" (scam). I wasted $525 and hours of my life. Save yourself all of the above and just go to a real VZW store so you have everything in writing and some means to protect yourself against predatory practices. Just so you all know, any company marketing something as free and actually making you pay for it is breaking the law. They just assume no one would want to go through the hassle of suing them. This is some of the worst service I have ever received from a merchant. I purchased a new iphone and was charged for it, but the sales rep forgot to process my order, even though the payment was already processed. I went in three weeks later to find out where my phone was, after calling once a week, and they finally figured out their mistake and had to re-order. They told me there was no way to rush the order, and that I would have to wait another month.
