Verizon is trusted for good service all over the world so I give it credit for that. It's just the monthly fee is a bit pricey at around $80 per month plus tax before add ons like. Netflix and travel pass, etc. It's in the heart of downtown on State and Monroe streets and CTA subway or L train red line is super close on the same block right outside to the left. Had an absolutely fantastic experience today at the Verizon store on S State. I went in needing new internet and they had me squared away within the hour, got me some great deals/freebies and most importantly were patient and kind. SO wonderful to finally have working WiFi in my apartment after trying but XFinity & AT&T. Verizon is the superior provider and I was thrilled to find out it was available in Chicago, as I thought my building was not serviced. Highly recommend both Verizon and the wonderful staff at this store. I've never reviewed anything but I have to leave a complaint about this Verizon store. I visited there to just reactivate the eSIM on my Apple Watch. After checking in, one of staff told me there are two people before me. Their service or working process was incredibly slow but I was waiting with patience. The. More people walked in and those all checked in after me. All of sudden, the staffs pushed me back in the waiting line one after another people without any explanation. Initially I understood they might made an appointment. And I noticed some people after me even didn't make an appointment but anyway they had the service before me. I asked the staff why my turn kept pushing back and he said I came after others which was a lie since I had been sitting in the store almost an hour. The explanation didn't make sense at all and their attitude was completely rude. I had to suspect I was discriminated because I was only Asian in the store. I was upset and left the store with terrible feel. Whoever owns this store should give their staffs proper service education for the customers. I went to the Verizon shop on West Diversey in Chicago. I wanted to upgrade my phone and whilst the upgrade part of it was fine, I found the way in which the sales person very cleverly added in a few things without being very specific that they weren't included or how much they were really shady. if you suggest buying some thing you also have to be clear that the customer is having to purchase it, it doesn't come with a bundle and be clear about how much it is. I ended up with a cover for my phone that was almost $60 which is ridiculous. Yes maybe the cover is worth that amount but maybe the customer does not want to spend $60 for a phone cover. It was so casually added in and it was only when the final bill was tallied that I asked for the breakdown. These practices are just really not on. I'm stuck with Verizon for a bit longer, but then I definitely given this experience will get rid of it. read more

Fucking atrocious. Hands down worst experiences of my life dealing with these clowns. I would give negative stars if possible. Cannot wait to switch back to old provider as soon as my rebate kicks in. Would rather get beat with a sack of nickels and rear ended by a bull in heat then have verizon. The sales people are all liars and cheats. Will completely blow smoke up your ass and continue to lie repeatedly just to get a sale. Once you're in, you're fucked. You have no recourse and cannot get out without sacrificing your first 3 children. Nothing is ever what they say and everything is 5x more expensive than whoever you are currently with. You should be interested to know that she actively threatened me when I entered the store the other day. I called corporate. And I urge, to all of you who have struggled with this horrible woman in a management position, to do so as well. Management should be dedicated to service of customers. I don't care HOW shitty your day is, HOW terrible your home life is. I DO NOT CARE. HOW MUCH. YOU HATE. YOUR JOB. NO ONE. in ANY service job. Should EVER. THREATEN. THEIR. CUSTOMERS. To summarize what happened, I walked in the store (hesitantly, of course; i didn't know whether she had been fired yet or not), and a woman named Myra, i believe, was helping me. And as she was helping me, i got this feeling; you know the feeling, like someone's eyes are burning into the back of your skull. I looked over and I saw Tammy glaring at me. To be honest, she had a new wig on, so I didn't recognize her right away. We made eye contact several times, and whenever we did, she would smile. Uh, creepy. What the fuck do you want? So i looked at Myra, and asked her, "Um, is that Tammy? she's been glaring at me since I got here." "Oh, yeah that's her." "WHAT DID SHE SAY??" Immediately following Myra's answer. "..She just asked if you were Tammy." "Oh yes. We're quite familiar with each other," She said, grinning even creepier than before. "Honey, looks like you're having a good day today. Be careful, though. Tomorrow, you might not be so lucky." I said nothing because I couldn't believe she had just said that. Is this bitch actually THREATENING me? Wow... um. okay. I wait until Myra has helped me reset my phone and make my way out quickly. I implore you, all whom have had to deal with this woman's poor attitude and nonexistent people skills, CALL AND COMPLAIN. I will start my review on a positive note and say that Mohammad is an absolute doll! Very professional, courteous, and solution/resolution focused. Other than Mohammad, I have never encountered anyone who I wouldn't fire if I was the manager at this store. The only non-explitive description I can give of the other employees here is MEAN/NASTY/USELESS (from a customer service point of view). I have been a Verizon customer for 15 years and am having some phone issues. I was told "No" to every possible solution I proposed over the course of 6 hours of phone calls and in store visits, and no better solutions were offered. I highly suggest avoiding this store if at all possible. Literally, hurling your iPhone into the Lake will probably yield similar results (and certainly cause less anxiety) than bringing it here. read more

Heard about verizon offering free 5G phone so I headed to this store to find out more details. The sales rep was the worst customer service I have received from this store. I've been a verizon customer for over 30 yrs. She immediate said we are not offering a free 5G phone and quote" I've don't know of that promo at all. Then she tried to get me to buy another phone. After this experience I have decided that I will be switching to T Mobile as their plans are cheaper and I can trade my phone in for a 5g phone. Good bye verizon! Interesting to come here and see the negative reviews. I walked out thinking it was a great experience. Staff was friendly. Guy who I worked with seemed great. Until I got my first bill. I was told it would be "a little higher". Try $100 higher and a $43 charge to set my line up. Way to treat a new customer signing a 2 year contract. He also told me my 2gb data plan would be $80 a month. After adding insurance I never asked for it was $110. A phone call and a switch to 1gb data while dropping insurance made it a respectable monthly payment. But this store, or at least the guy I worked with, is shady. read more

This is literally the most incompetent group of employees ive ever seen in a service area. Not only were we blatantly lied to when we switched to verizon as our cell provider, but their customer service is rude and disrespectful. The man who helped us and sold us our plan, last name Perez according to my receipt, told us a check would automatically be sent to us for our cancellation fee we were going to incur with our previous provider. Which apparently is a total lie that he is trained tell customers in order to save the store money. While i cannot speak for the entire company, that does seem to be the business model of this particular branch. It seemed weird that verizon would be able to find out what our cancellation fee would be automatically, so we questioned it, and again were told that it would be automatic and sent to us. And now that they have lied to us for so long, we have missed the 60 day period to apply, allegedly. That seems a little convenient for verizon to be pocketing MY money with 0 remedy. We wont even get into the fact that they were incapable of downloading my cloud data to my new iphone. They literally could not figure it out for about 3 hours. the final solution was to let me take my old and new phone home and do it myself. seriously? read more

Stopped by to upgrade my phone yesterday after work (which is right around the corner from my office building). So automatically I was happy on that. BUT, The customer service was outstanding - my Solutions Specialist Mario Rocha worked with me in all ways to get the deal on my plan, upgrade to my new phone along with any extra's that I needed. His customer service skills are excellent and his knowledge of Verizon products are spot on. This was my second trip to this store within two weeks, earlier I had dealt with Mario when I needed to add my company discount to my Verizon account. And I was hoping to have gotten him again when i went yesterday. Thank you Verizon and Thank You Mario. read more

Good service and problem solving! I came in after my brand new 64 GB iPhone 6 (purchased from the Apple store, no insurance) was stolen. I was prepared to swallow my pride and pay the upfront full cost of the phone. But then I met Donnie... I was charged the upfront cost of a 64 GB iPhone 6 (approx $750) but I got a 128 GB iPhone 6, and two Bose speakers to boot. Basically I was charged the "upgrade price" of the phone, and bought extra merch to bring the price to the $750 I was originally prepared to pay (and would have paid at Apple for just the phone). The service at this Verizon store is absolutely terrible. They have never been a help to me -- not once. I used to live around the corner and was forced to go here whenever I had a problem with my phone. The first time was because I'd lost my phone (note: it had not been stolen, I never once thought/mentioned that it might be stolen.... I had just misplaced it during a move, and I knew that) and wanted to turn on my old phone. They did this without any problem, but decided to report my lost phone as stolen. Well, when it (inevitably) turned up a few weeks later, I went to go have it turned back on. This was when I was informed the phone had been reported stolen and I would need to contact my insurance company. Would you believe? My insurance company knew nothing about it. In short, took about 3 months before I could get it up and running again. The second time was when my phone spontaneously combusted. They should've given me a new battery and/or replacement that day, but they didn't. I was without a phone for I don't even know how long. One was mailed to me at my home address, which was great, but there had been no indication by the Verizon worker (or by anything sent with the new phone) that I would have to send back my old, dead phone. Well, maybe I should have been a mindreader, and I could've avoided the $500 bill sent to my house (for a $78 phone?). I called corporate and asked them what the heck was up. They explained, apologized that I had not been informed of the policy, and said I could return it to the Verizon store and not have to pay the bill. I went back, gave them the phone and told them about the conversation I'd had with corporate. They refused to take it/send it back. Complete crap. read more

Justine is a rock star employee, ask for her: she was highly efficient, knew everything, and had very specific good suggestions: top notch customer service. I always worry when I go to the retail cell phone stores since more often than not it is lousy but this was an exception. The old reviews are a bit hilarious and illustrate how you could have a very different experience based on who works there. The store itself is nothing fancy but it is in a main location for downtown on State street in a prime shopping strand. Everything has been great 2 weeks out and I am pleased with the service and with Verizon, which works well downtown compared to Sprint from the past carrier. read more

I went here last Friday because I found that my phone wasn't charging properly. Joshua checked it out and confirmed that the charging port was broken, so he arranged for a replacement phone to be sent to me right after the weekend. Also, I had no insurance or extended warranty, but he informed me that it was open enrollment period for insurance, so of course I did that instead of paying an arm and a leg for a brand new phone. And Monday, my phone came! Joshua said Tuesday, but it was great that I received it a little sooner. Then, I found that my SIM card from my previous phone wasn't compatible with the replacement phone. I again went into this Verizon location and spoke with Laurie. She was very helpful and arranged for me to receive a card from the store. I was in and out of there in less than a half hour, with some time to spare in my lunch hour. Verizon may be a little on the pricey side for service, but I rarely get dropped calls (unlike people I know with cheaper Sprint), and I never have a hard time getting help for services. read more

I went to this Verizon store after my phone stopped working. At home, I couldn't even get it past the load screen. I kept getting an error, and when I would take the battery out and try again (tried 5 times), it would just get stuck on the load screen. So I take it to the store and Tammy is the first to approach me. She turns it on and of course it boots up. Unfortunately, it still wasn't getting any service and I could not make any calls on it. She said "it's fine" and hands it back to me. Well, it's not fine. Luckily she passed me off to someone else. Justine helped me and was way more helpful. My phone actually froze up again and went back to the load screen. She tried a few different things, none of which worked... but I appreciated the effort. I was going to upgrade anyway, but wanted to pre-order the samsung galaxy s3, which doesn't ship for 3 more weeks. She helped me out by shipping me a new handset of the same phone I have now to get me until the s3 ships. All in all, my experience was pretty good. I would probably avoid Tammy in the future though. read more

Claudia and Donnie helped me switch from the gawd awful Tmobile back to Verizon and Donnie #2, their manager, checked in from time to time while we ported my number and my wife's. I can honestly say it was the best experience I have ever had with a cell phone carrier, at a cell phone store and quite possibly at a store in general. They helped me figure out which promotion was best for me and my wife and our needs...plus I walked out with a Nest Camera and Bose Bluetooth Speaker nearly for free. Recommended everyone in my office go and now I recommend you, internet, to go. read more

We came to open a business account for my corporation in the Verizon salon, switched from t mobile. it was very long and went on for several hours. Then we were issued phones for the iPhone promotion. and they set up the phones for about 5 days, and promised to send them by mail. we not received these phones, and we arrived at Verizon, and our phones were still unconfigured in their salon. I had to wait again for several hours. When we received the first bill for payment, we saw insurance for phones there, which we were not even offered, but simply imposed on them. Today, October 20, 2022, we came to turn off these insurances, and as a result, the consultant girl simply took and withdrew money from us for paying for these phones under the action. We were charged about $2,000 by these unprofessional employees. For us, this is a net loss. I do not recommend this salon or these employees. They are not professionals. They don't want to correct their mistakes. As a result, they spoiled our mood and spent a lot of our money on the fact that we did not ask for them. read more

After waiting a couple of minutes and seeing no real process for how they pick which customers to talk to, one of the guys came up to me and asked me if he could help me with something. I asked about the iPhone X, because last week when I called the store, they said they were all out. It turns out that they have some now, so I said great and that I would like to buy one. I seemed to startle him with my response which is the opposite reaction you would expect when you don't have any questions and just want to buy a $1K phone. He said he would be back in a couple minutes. I waited for about 30 minutes, and watched him walk around the store chatting with a few people, yelling at someone and saying that he couldn't understand them when they called the store and even talking with some girl for a bit that came in the store to see him that was clearly not there to buy a phone. The only person who even paid any attention to me during those 30 minutes was the nice woman working security at the front of the store who offered me a seat in the waiting area. Unfortunately, 30 minutes was all I could handle. I can't even imagine how long it would have taken to process the purchase and update my phone and account. They lost the easiest sale of the day. I have been loyal to Verizon for a long time, but I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

The entrance door is kept locked and you cannot get assistance. A security guard may open the door but will tell you they will not assist anyone UNLESS you want to buy a phone. They do not correct mistakes even though the customer service line directs you to the store. read more

My contract was up as of a few days ago so I went in to renew it and upgrade my phone. It should've been one of the easiest sales they made all day. When I got there I was told there were 2 people ahead of me but that they'd get to me shortly. After about 10 minutes the gentleman who checked me in tried to tell one of the sales reps who was free that I was ready to purchase a new phone. The sales rep told him aggressively, in earshot of me, that he wouldn't be helping me and to find someone else. Apparently he was about to leave for the day so he wasn't interested in accepting another customer. A few minutes later the guy from the door told me that another rep would be helping me. Claudia was very nice when she greeted me but was actually doing a few other things already. She asked me politely if I could wait a few minutes so she could go get the guy that was supposed to be helping me. She went in back to get the first sales rep and returned without him. Apparently he still wasn't interested. At that point I was disgusted and ready to leave but I was handed over to the manager so I assumed I'd get better customer service and decided to stick with it. He was informed right away that I witnessed someone refusing to serve me, but had nothing to say about it. Unfortunately, his body language, tone of voice, and attitude proved he was just as uninterested in helping me as the first sales rep. He took a few minutes to look at his tablet and gave me 2 monthly prices without telling me any of the details about what I'd be getting in the plans. I asked a few questions so I'd actually understand what I was about to spend my money on and got 1-2 word responses to each one. After being treated like garbage from the moment I walked in the door (with the exception of Claudia) I asked the MANAGER if I'd be able to cancel my service with them without a penalty so I could look at options with other providers. He confirmed I was out of contract and that I was free to go elsewhere - no attempt at all to salvage a customer who's been with them for over 6 years. Up until today I really enjoyed the service I had gotten from Verizon but the experience I had at this store has singlehandedly made me look into switching providers. AT&T or Sprint will have a new customer in a few days. read more

Worst verizon store ever. Walked in and the girl checking me in was already rude. Came in looking for a memory card and I received help immediately, except the sd cards at Verizon is extremely overpriced. So I had purchased it and there was this really bad tension from other 3+ workers there as I was purchasing. And so I looked it up online and I was obviously paying over $50 for the sd card at the Verizon store. That's when I realized I was being ripped off and everyone was just watching me spend. I had questions about my account and decided to randomly stop in to see if they could help. Back at home, I usually have to wait 30-45 minutes to be served at Verizon, but I was introduced to a worker as soon as they found out what my concerns were. Needless to say, I was very happy with the service and was able to ask questions that were answered thoroughly. I got my phone upgraded without a hassle and was able to keep my unlimited data plan.
