They screwed up with my phone repair two days in a row, causing me to not only miss work meetings but a doctor's appt., for which I'll now have to pay. Then, just hours ago, the store manager interceded in my transaction and went roid rage on me, actually asking me if I "wanted to take it outside." I said, calmly, "Don't you want to know what happened?" "No, get out of my store or I'll have the police do it." It was unreal. I think the manager's name is David Willis? He escalated a frustrating situation in which I received no apology for two days of screw-ups, and I wasn't even able to buy the new laptop I was there for either. It was incredibly bizarre. Day One: 3:15 Genius Bar appt. Got there early, checked in. Didn't get called until 5:15. "Well, did you check in?" Yes! "With who?" You! We chatted like three times! Today, bring phone back first thing in a.m. as planned with Genius Bar. First in line. Get checked in, then meet with laptop sales guy. One left, he'll reserve it for three hours though phone should be done in one. Debit card rejected. Fraud alert, we properly guessed, but since they have my phone in repair, I can't respond. So I have to wait to make purchase until after repair. Phone helper checked in with me twice. Looked good. Should be done soon. Now it's 12:45 (started at 10) and check in with phone person, what's going on, I've missed my doc appt. etc. etc. "You haven't gotten your phone yet?" Um, no. "Let me get my friend to see what's going on." Friend comes out with my phone. Sticker says it was done at 10:47 a.m. I'm a little peeved, friend/worker snarks at me, "You got your phone, what's the problem?" I've been here since 10, I've now missed a work meeting and doctor appointment. I was told the phone would be done a long time ago. Suddenly, an enraged man bursts on the scence and starts screaming at me. He's the store manager. And that's when he asked me if I wanted to step outside. His exact words. I was flabbergasted. Um, no, but my laptop reservation is ending in minutes. It's the only one of that model in stock I want to go buy it. No, get out or I'll have the police throw you out. On way out I say to original phone helper, they're saying it's my fault somehow. She just says, "He's my manager." I guess I'll order it online. Filed complaint with Apple. (Also, turns out by the little sticker I see that IT WAS DONE AND READY TO GO AT 10:47 A.M., even as I was being told, "another 20 minutes," and "pretty soon" much after that.) The store is minimalist and modern like all the other Apple stores. Street parking or Apple has a parking space you can use. The salesperson we encountered was not really warm and welcoming. She was more like what do you want and pretty dry. read more

I came here with my daughter because her new AirPod has some noise with the left one. We walked in without an appointment on a Wednesday noon time, and the guy at the door put us in a line with scan the QR code, we waited for likely 10 mins then some rep came to us. He tested the AirPods and then admit that there is problem with the left, but they can't exchange a new one as they don't have inventory for the right ear, so end up we only got the left pod exchanged. Not sure how that going to work with the pairing process. Just find it interesting that Apple Store's inventory is run by ear, not the whole set.. i guess you learn something new everyday in this world! read more

The only reason I am giving this ridiculous company and specific place at 801 W. North Ave., in Chicago, Il., 1 star, is so I can get my review in. All in all, Apple is so overrated, it has ridiculous rules that make it almost impossible for new customers to get help in purchasing their items. Last year, about 2 weeks before Christmas, I walked into this particular place, there were only 2 other customers besides me, and there were about 6 Apple attendants, I was told I had to wait, because I did not have an appointment. Well guess what Apple, my time is money too, and it just so happens I wanted to buy 10 Cell phones and all their accesories, but I ended up going to Boost. Which turned out to be much cheaper with the same quality of phones and much better service than Apple's. So, Apple, get a life, I threw away all the apple cells I had, thanks for nothing. Beautiful store, anchored in an eclectic neighborhood surrounded by shopping, restaurants and theaters. This store seem to be organically connected to its surroundings like a flower or a tree. We were helped immediately upon entry........Had an appointment to replace an Apple Watch. We were checked in and the waiting began....... We waited for about 15 minutes and we were helped. Previously treated well, return visit treated just AWFUL. I went to this business for a repair on my son's Ipad.Told I needed to repair the charging port, ask for a factory reset, and then to return to them for a restore. Did what was asked and came back. THEN the new tech said she could not help me at all without damaging the Ipad. I explained what the past tech said. She said she knows better. I explained that not only did the past tech say this but also Apple support. She refused service. I asked for a second opinion. She said "go ahead" and gestured to the others working there as if I should just approach someone at random. I was not rude or impolite. I asked her if we could focus on solving the problem. She said sure. And stood there. I waited. Nothing. I then asked if she could find someone to help. She called a manager. The manager told me I did not understand the difference between a disabled account and a locked account. I have an emailed that shows the account is "disabled." He says he stands by his word. I call my boyfriend and put him on speaker phone. After hearing a MALE voice who says the EXACT thing I did they do what I asked. Restore the the Ipad. I then ask the manager why this fuss? I was calm and polite. He insisted I didn't know the difference between locked and disabled. He says he stands by what he said. What? This man should NOT be a manager. I couldn't believe it. 2.5 hours for that? Awful. read more

Had the worst week ever between my iPhone and customer service from Att. My phone stopped working out of the blue and I was in so much trouble because I use my phone for work and have urgent client needs that require 24/7 phone access. Worked with Tommie and Carlos on Friday and I am SO thankful for them. I was being charged fees and dealing with a failed phone and they were able to resolve it all and get me a new phone. Definite improvement, hey four stars is good, five is great. Wonderful service today all the way around. Everyone was very helpful and polite. From check in to picking up my order, to set up and upon exiting. After my initial check in, Andrew greeted me for me to get my order assembled and offered to help set up the new phone, I told him that I have set up others, and he said there were a few changes. Knowing that I didn't have anything else on my schedule, I decided to get the process going. Just the right combination of his doing the update with my assistance going along so I'd be comfortable with the new phone. As my old phone backed up and we got the new one going we talked about the new watch, my business and getting a business account set up. some about his other work and so on. After a while as it was apparent that most of it was all in process he was off to assist another. However, he did say to ask Nella who was in the area if I had any other questions. She did check in with me, all was good. As luck would have it I'd have a question and didn't see her, but nabbed someone else walking by, it was a quick ask and answer, he also asked if there was anything else. I don't really expect to get phenomenal service from a major retailer but wow! I scheduled my appointment with the genius bar to get a phone looked at because it wasn't charging. I arrived at my appointment a little early and the check in process was confusing. They have so many workers walking around that do different things that I didn't know where to sign in. I waited a little longer than I would have if the first person I spoke to had directed me to the correct place to check-in instead of trying to make a sale off me. The second person I spoke with said she would check me in and took my information. I waited an additional 10 minutes past my appointment start time and spoke to a third person. The person didn't see that I was checked in so they checked me in and told me I would be next up once a phone specialist came up. The phone specialist came up and she was very friendly. She inspected our phone and was able to solve the issue. It was as simple as dirt collecting in the port but they recommend coming in so you don't risk breaking your phone by cleaning it yourself. Since I was in the Apple store my husband and I thought we'd go ahead and buy the newest Apple Watch. I checked it out earlier while waiting and liked some of the new features. Little did I know you have to book a shopping session. The guy we stopped said he would take our information and book a session. The only time he had was 45 mins from now even though they had 20 workers in the building a few of them were standing around chatting. No big deal because I was getting hungry so we decided to book the appointment an hour from now. He only took a first name for the reservation and no other information. He said he only needed that information. After so many people giving us the run around we decided test out if the guy was giving a higher estimate so we left out building and entered through another door. We spoke to another employee and they gave us a 15 min estimate. We decided to just go to lunch since we had the other appointment booked and were hungry. When I arrived back at the store I spoke to the gentleman at the door to check in for our shopping appointment. The guy was very friendly and patient but he couldn't find our reservation. I gave him the name we left and he proceeded to ask for last name, phone number, etc to locate us but the first guy didn't even ask us for any of that information. It seemed like the first guy just wanted to get us out of the store not expecting us to come back so he just took a first name. We ended up having to wait a little longer for a new appointment. When the sales specialist came to us they informed us the watches we wanted were completely sold out. They only had the cellular watches available that were at minimum $100 more but you could get it without the phone plan. Truly visiting the actual store was a waste of time. I'm happy the phone got fixed but I don't see the benefit of buying Apple products in store. I interacted with six or more employees that day and most of them seemed to brush me off. I'll probably stick to online shopping to save myself a headache. read more

First time visiting this Apple Store but this is certainly THE WORST Apple Store I've ever visited. Picked up my iPhone 16 here and purchased the screen protector where they applied it for me. The guy did a sloppy job and there were dusts trapped inside of the screen protector. He refused to redo the screen protector and said he could give me refund or give me another screen protector so I can put it on myself. This review is for apple overall customer service. there wasn't a spot for it on here, but my item was delivered from here so I chose this location. Today, I placed an order over the phone with a friendly Apple representative and received a receipt for one price. However, when they charged my account, the amount was $70 more than what the receipt indicated. I called customer service to inquire about the discrepancy and was met with an extremely rude representative who couldn't or wouldn't explain the difference. I even offered to send her a copy of my receipt, but she refused and simply said, "That's just the way it is." She mentioned I could get a refund, but it would take 5-7 business days. When I requested to speak to a manager, she declined. Later, I spoke to another representative who was helpful and arranged for a senior advisor to call me back. When the senior advisor joined the call, they said there was nothing they could do and blamed the issue on taxes. I questioned how that could be possible, as the receipt I was sent included taxes, and yet the final charge was still different. They didn't provide me with an updated receipt, and even after I did the math myself, it didn't add up. When I asked the senior advisor to recalculate the purchase, the total matched the original amount on my receipt, but they insisted there was nothing more they could do. So, just to clarify--Apple thinks it's okay to send a receipt for one amount but charge a different amount without informing the customer? This is their policy? Apple needs to check their system because it feels like they're overcharging us without explanation! read more

It was a reasonable wait on this weekday afternoon to buy a charger. Waited at a table for a tech to help me out. They knew I was there for a charger. Had to wait for two people to get their parts, and others for walk-in carryout orders. All n all, everything went smoothly. Would go back at this same time if I ever needed something specific. I tried Target first and the employee said they don't make the charger for my computer anymore and he had to order it online to get another. I loved my experience on my last minute visit to the Apple Store Lincoln Park! My phone froze/stopped working. I went to the T-Mobile store. They told me to call Apple. Um my phone is broken. Oh well ok. I called Apple from my son's phone and was tied up with them for over 2 hours with no solution. I tried to make an appointment for the store but wasn't able to. Later the staff at the store told me I could only make an appointment on my phone. Sooo the big circle run around I just went to the store last minute. They have an operation out front that is very well run. It was organized for check in and different areas to wait. They were only seeing people with appointments. Oh no!! The girl took pity on me after hearing how hard I've tried to get assistance. They squeezed me in! They were very accurate with wait times, had tents for shade and offered bottled water since it was blazing hot. I was very impressed. Once inside, the guy assisted me with knowledge and precision. He was able to work his magic and got my phone to magically start working and I was on my way! forty years buying apple products and have never been treated so dismissively in an apple store in my life. tech was polite but zero help, clearly didn't know what he was doing, told me to call apple support instead of actually troubleshooting, said he couldn't set up my new phone without iCloud even though i did not request a data transfer. just so much garbage. could have ordered to be shipped to my door rather than waste my time picking up. came home and set everything up myself in 20 minutes. apple always had such nice concierge service, which is why i like going to the store. if this is the standard now, forget it. either way i will never go to the lincoln location again. read more

even without a comparison to the downtown store this has just been the most confrontational and least helpful store EVER. I've had to go there 4 times in the past 5 years and everytime was a dreadful experience except 1 thus the 2 stars. Nothing gets fixed or replaced here. I would have never gone back had they not given me a call saying there's new management and better training. I was literally told by multiple people both from genius bar and the IT team in this store, that they run separately from Apple support (phone/online/app). They do not take their notes into account whatsoever and what they do in store is up to them (whomever is helping you at the time). I would just go to the downtown store from now on. Interesting to see an Apple store not filled to the brim. While I have jumped ship from the Apple ecosystem just a few years back, a recent visit to help my father in law get his iPhone battery fixed gave me many reminders of why I decided to leave. Similar to many past experiences, getting service never seems to be easy. Genius bar always slammed and we waited 40 minutes for our reserved appointment. Also Apple care never seems to cover what needs to be fixed. Why bother paying for service? While waiting, I browsed around the store a bit. Not much has changed. Some upgrades to laptops, iPads, and iPhones. Yet still waiting for the next big innovation that used to excite me around Apple. Maybe one day... Anyhow, this location is pretty convenient to get to via transit, but parking in the nearby area can be a bit of a hassle. Be prepared to pay $2/hr to park it on the street. While this location appears to be well staffed you'll still find yourself waiting and waiting. In all the waiting and reflection I did, I did seem to notice all of the staffs kicks are kind of low key fire. So I guess this had that going for them.
