I am a new verizon customer, my whole family uses it so finally switched! Omg Noah is my hero and so is another woman who helped but I forgot her name SO SORRY. I switched from xfinity to here and it was a long process because xfinity is the worst. anyway they had a long queue of people to help and they didn't rush me or get frustrated at all when I had to call xfinity to figure out my transfer pin! they helped me find devices and answered all my questions. i got a deal thanks to them by putting my numbers in the name of my LLC which I had no idea you could do! even after everything, I still can text with questions and I really appreciate their patience and help. these cell phone companies are a whole other beast but having people like Noah makes it so much easier to navigate it all to find the best deal. now I get to trade my phone in, got the newest, phone and added a work line to my plan. :) very happy to be a new verizon customer thanks to the folks here! it's more expensive than i am used to but the coverage is already improved significantly, the real test will be when I visit the suburbs and rural Indiana! read more

I came in after a very long day at work to replace all my family phones. I always prefer to shop live. I put my name in the list, and sat down. After a few minutes a guy named Brandon walked up and said "you can't sit there. You need to move". I asked why, as I was sitting at a long table where people ere writing all around it. He firmly said "you need to move, this is for employees only". So I left. Turned out I took care of replacing 4 iPhones with AirPods, and cases were ordered online in minutes. I was done before it was my turn in line! If Brandon wasn't so rude I never would have saved the time! Kids like Brandon are why live retail is going away. Do better. read more

My phone recently stopped accepting and making phone calls. Everything else works data text etc. is functional. So yesterday I decided to go to Verizon 810 W North Ave, Chicago, IL. I walked in about 20 minutes before closing time the agents were busy with people, and I waited about five minutes before they called me, I quickly explained to the agent (I regret not getting his name, but I believe he was the manager) what the problem was. He was more concerned with closing up the business and was not really listening to me and telling employees to bring in the sign from the sidewalk and shut things down. He really didn't say much to me and kind of just shoved my cell phone into my hands, and I had to ask him if he wanted me to unlock my own phone. After tinkering with it for about a minute and a very dismissive way manner, he waved me off and told me to go across the street to the Apple Store and get a brand new iPhone. I asked them if there were any other options for me since we're literally 12 days away from Christmas and I cannot afford a new phone right now. I left without anything being resolved. The next day I was around the area of Milwaukee and Ashland Ave and figured I'd give it another shot. I walked in an immediately an associate, jumped up to greet me and helped me. I explained to the associate that my phone was working fine except for phone calls. I was unable to receive or make calls. He asked me to unlock it and less than a minute he fixed the problem. I strongly believe that you can approach different people with the same problem, and someone will make the effort to help you while others just don't want to put him to work. North Ave., Chicago, is where Ashley works, and I had the pleasure of working with her. Ashley spent over and hour on the phone with ATT converting my children's accounts from ATT to Verizon. Throughout the entire phone call, Ashley helped me through every step in the process to complete the procedure. The conversion would have gone easier if I knew all my ATT passwords, but Ashley helped me to create the needed passwords and getting my children's accounts converted to Verizon. I went in today and the place was packed. When my name was called, I was assigned to a guy (didn't get his name) who probably previously worked as a used car salesman. He was wheeling and dealing, making the plans as complicated as possible, signing me up for things I had declined (Netflix and HBO package), pushing the Verizon W-Fi service, and simultaneously helping another customer (to clear up the wait list). I got the impression their job is to sell to people, not help them. I was there for about two hours. When I left, I felt like I had been sold something I didn't want or need. I'm going to call Verizon tomorrow to verify the deal is the best one for me because the store was not the place to help with that. read more

This location is probably as good as any other to conduct the business of getting a new phone as long as you have everything figured out upon entry. The staff has no knowledge of the plans or how to bundle internet and phone. You'll need to do that yourself online and then give them the information so they can punch it in and hit submit. That seems to be their only responsibility. I went to a brick and mortar store to get help making some decisions on which package worked best for my needs. I tried to explain what I was looking for to my "attendant", but he just went right into getting me a new phone mode. It's like he didn't hear a word I said. He barely spoke a word to me other than "what color phone to you want?". I'd avoid this location. read more

Staff is all Hispanic and treated my Black husband with total disregard and disrespect. We went with an issue with our new services which we've only had for 30 days. They were unwilling to help, gave us a list of phone numbers to call and were extremely dismissive. Standing around staring at us like spectacles. As a 50 year old woman, this was the absolute worst cell store experience I've ever had. My husband left there feeling very low, like a criminal when he had done nothing wrong. Let me start by saying I've been a Verizon customer for almost 20 years. They have definitely made quite a bit of money from me. I went into the 810 W. North Avenue Verizon Store to simply upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S8+ to the new S10+. The good part was that I was quickly greeted and entered into the queue to get assistance. The upgrade was relatively painless, but before completing my paperwork, the salesperson delivered a pitch about this totally "free" service they offered called Hum. Thinking there was a "catch" (which there was), I asked no fewer than 5 times if there are any additional fees for the free Hum module they were offering. I was told "no" each and every time and then was redirected to the features they were touting (insurance discounts, vehicle tracking, crash assistance, etc.). I then completed my paperwork and returned to work. A couple of days later, I wanted to research the Hum module and app prior to hooking it up to either of my vehicles - especially my late model Corvette Stingray. I had come across stories of modules, including Hum causing issues with some vehicle makes and verified this with the GM dealership I purchased my car from and it may possibly void some warranties I still had in place. Thus, I decided not to risk it and not even open the box that contained the Hum module. I held onto the "free" Hum module until I received my first new phone bill to find an additional $10 line charge on my bill for the Hum (there we have "the catch"). So for this free piece of equipment, it would actually cost you at least $240 over 2 years or infinitely more if you allowed Verizon to continue the service beyond that. What I am as a longstanding customer, is the shady way that this service was sold to me by lying to me continuously telling me there were not any additional fees. Had I not asked several times, then that would be my fault. But to lie to my face, is neither appreciated nor is what I expect from anyone I do business with. On top of all of that, I got stuck with a $44 "restocking" fee on my unopened, free item that was supposedly valued at $30, which was originally waived. So I'm now down $54 of my hard earned money for something I didn't use or want. I hope $54 is worth my wraith, because I will make it my mission to let everyone know of the shady sales practices employed here as per Verizon's policies. My next stop is Better Business Bureau. Watch out, don't take any "free" equipment, including Pads, as it will cost you a lot of $$$ in the short and long run! read more

I had the good fortune of getting SANDRA when I recently went into the store. She is AWESOME. Sandra listened to what I was there to do. But she also tuned into my nerves about the process. When you transfer over one cell phone to a new one, it is a little daunting. Sandra explained every part of the process. I was taking notes, and she went slowly and carefully. I needed a few new accessories, and she explained each one and helped me chose the right ones. There was a snafu with Google, and she explained what we could do and even called me later to see how things were going! Out of five stars, Sandra gets 10. Thanks for the great help! read more

I think the entire store was trying to get fired, maybe they just want to stay home and collect unemployment because I've received better service at McDonald's! I felt like a criminal for trying to return my phones because I received new one a for my business, as a promotion! Not a "hello, not a my name is"... when asking for the sales associates he refused to give me his name and conveniently enough the manager was not in... when asking the other associates his name, they refused and looked blindly at me! All 3 associates and the security guard said nothing, until I threatened to come back and report them all. Sylvester with his tails between his legs finally gave me his begrudgingly. I recently went to Verizon to upgrade my phone- a process which I absolutely DREAD. I was very fortunate to have Sylvestre ( sp?) help me. There was an issue ( not his fault) that my phone was on an account that my husband is the " manager" of. It was an absolute headache for Sylvestre to deal with internal Vetizon people to get everything sorted out. If I were him I would have given up. Anyway...he got everything taken care of, got my information transferred . He was great. He was incredibly patient...AND very knowledgeable. 5 stars. NO YOU CAN'T HELP ME!!! I stop in here monthly to pay the wireless bill and every time I am attacked with the salepersons pounce of..."Can we help you!" I understand customer service but they are saying the greeting, before I even walk in the door, which makes me feel like it is not heartfelt and more of a corporate policy to jump on potential sales. In fact, they do not even look at you or even stop what they are doing, when they ask. Attention Salespeople here: Please just stop it and let me get in the door. You would think after 2 years they would recognize me and think..."Oh this is the guy that never needs our help!" I just wish they would give me a chance to walk in...plus if they did then, they would see me walking toward the automatic payment machine in the back of the store. Then they would realize that I do not want to talk to anyone but the machine. They really can not help me because I am doing it myself. There is also free parking too which is a plus but plan accordingly...never come during rush hour or after work because the streets around here are a complete mess with the Apple Store and Starbucks in the middle of an island, photo enforced intersections and way too many corners and cross streets. Getting into the lot is easy but make sure you plan an exit strategy if you are planning on heading South or East because it can be difficult. Good luck! read more

Employees need training. I was sold on an IPhone that had less memory than my current, they said I could transfer everything with the Verizon app. So incredibly false. Still having serious issues months later trying to migrate data from the old phone to the new and I never received rebate for the old one as a result of this incompetence. I recently purchased an iPhone 13 Pro at the Verizon North Avenue location. I was very fortunate to have Christina as my sales person. She was outstanding! Christina was very knowledgeable, patient, friendly, efficient and answered all of my questions. She took her time explaining different options and went over all the costs minus the trade-in value of my phone. Christina also transferred my data to my new phone, helped me purchase accessories for my new small business and did not leave one stone unturned. She also gave me her cell phone number in case I had follow-up questions. I could no have asked for better service. I love my new phone and had an excellent experience at this location. Shout out to Manny! I was in their store not too long ago and originally came in to repair my broken phone. He suggested I first call my Verizon insurance to see what the cost was and if it was worth repairing when I only had $200 to pay off my previous phone and upgrade to a new one. After hearing out all my options I decided to upgrade. Thank you for walking through all my options first before trying to upgrade me. I know how how sales work because I'm in the industry as well but I never once felt like he was pushy. I called Verizon Customer care, and the problem was resolved in less than two Minutes after being connected. Picture it: Your handheld lifeline sputters, re-boots and starts re-programming itself without warning. Next thing you know, you're looking at a screen with the default Verizon wallpaper, zero contacts, no texts, no applications and sigh... no photos. This happened to me. A horrifying meltdown with real tears ensued, but I pulled it together and found a Verizon store, stat. Verizon associates are obviously similar to doctors - they're trained to stay calm and deliver bad news sans emotion as they do it over and over every day. The good news: Any contacts I had added and saved to my Gmail account (versus my phone) were recoverable. The bad news: I had saved many of my newer contacts to my phone as I barely use that personal Gmail account. Bad rationale Jelena, BAD. I was also told that all of my texts and pictures were unrecoverable. Paid apps remained; but the free ones would have to be re-downloaded. Thanks for the memories, yo. I should note that the associate was super kind and helpful, but I was bothered by the claim that they couldn't examine my phone and run diagnostics until I have the same problem again. I told them that I had been experiencing intermittent wi-fi problems as of late (where my phone wouldn't connect unless I powered down and re-started) and they did mention memory overload could be causing that. Though they countered that the wi-fi woes are likely over as I now have a phone freshly restored to factory settings, would have been nice if they took a closer look so I don't have to make another trip. Lesson learned: Save all contacts to Gmail, get an SMS backup app and save all those photos to a card/external website. Almost all Verizon smartphones are sold with a backup recovery app; my $569 HTC Droid Incredible is not. The one small silver lining is that I found out Verizon offers a corporate discount to Yelp employees. I showed them my paystub and moving forward will now receive 10% off my monthly bill and 25% off all accessories. Check out your company's eligibility, too! read more

My phone died. DIED. I was devastated! I went to UBreakItIFixIt and they sadly delivered the horrific news: We're sorry. It's the motherboard. There's nothing we can do. After I recovered from that terrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, I walked around the corner to Verizon. Rene had me set up with a brand,new android phone right in my price range in less than 30 minutes and although he offered things, there was NO pressure for additional services/products,thank goodness (that's a HUGE pet peeve of mine). I generally don't like going to cell phone stores, but I walked into this Verizon Wireless in desperation after my phone battery died (even though it said full battery) while I was out shopping in the area. I asked if they could check out my battery to see if there was anything terminally wrong with it. After finding out there was, an employee helped me order a new battery and offered to charge my phone in the store until I was done with my errands. Holy cow! Yes! If that doesn't scream excellent customer service, than I don't know what does. I was so relieved as I was meeting up with friends later but wasn't filled in on all the details yet. I thought I was going to just have to try and guess where/when to meet my friends, but Verizon saved my night! If I ever have a phone problem again, I will definitely travel a few extra miles to come to this location. read more
