It hurts my heart to give such a low review, because this is literally my favorite fast food restaurant. I've loved Zaxby's for decades (since I was a kid). Every time we'd go down south to visit family, Zaxby's was the first stop. I COULDN'T WAIT until one was closer to home (the DMV).‍ I live close to Baltimore, so driving here is still NO quick trip. I've been to this location about 5-6 times and after yesterday I doubt I'd be back. I'd much rather drive the EXTRA 30 minutes (2 hrs in total ONE way) to the next location. The food here is EXTREMELY inconsistent AND it does not taste the way it tastes down south. Everyone knows you go to Zaxby's for the "crack toast" and this location has "crap toast". It's NEVER fully buttered. Never fully toasted. And yesterday it literally tasted like plastic. SO PISSED OFF! The chicken fingers are HALF the size they are at ANY OTHER Zaxby's I've ever been to (which are a lot). I've NEVER seen skimpier looking chicken strips in my life. I actually had to ADD seasoning to the chicken for it to taste decent. The only thing that was on point were the fries. I'm pissed that my time, money, and GAS was spent coming to this location. They need to do better or they won't be around too long. #pitiful read more

Had a super enjoyable and fun first visit to Zaxby's at around 6:35 PM. The House salad that I had ordered was pretty tasty. Did don't have to wait very long to place my dinner order. They had the front door designated as entrance only and a side door designated as exit only. They have signs posted at the front doors saying that You would have to wear a mask in order to enter the dining room. It is extremely mandatory to follow their mask womandates and mandates I am certainly looking forward to trying the rest of their awesome salads next time I come for a visit. But they did not have any unsweetened iced tea available at all :(. The chocolate chip cookie that I had for dessert also tasted pretty good. The dining room was not very crowded at all and only 2 tables were occupied. I found that the management and staff were very friendly, helpful, and informative and that they do a very good job of taking care of, maintaining, and organizing the amazing dining room and surrounding grounds. TLDR: Waited over 30 minutes past the "pickup time" for online order just to receive the wrong items. Wait Time: To say this was a bad experience is an understatement. I created a yelp account just to recount the horrible experience I had here. I placed an online order at around 5:15 that was supposed to be ready at 5:31. I show up at 5:37 and staff say they haven't gotten to the order yet -- fine, I get it. At 5:53 I go back up to try and get an update on the status only for the person in the kitchen to say they never even received the order. Fast forward to 6:03 and I finally get my order. Staff: There was exactly one guy actually working and he was absolutely working hard. I flirted with giving an extra star to account for his effort but the point of placing an online order is to skip the line and I had to wait over half an hour before getting a simple Zak Snak. Had this been for me I would have just left. Cleanliness: The restaurant was quite dirty and the whole floor sticky. The kitchen seemed reasonably neat but lobby was not. I am a huge Zaxbys fan, but have only had it in Georgia so I was excited when they announced they were coming up here..... until I went. I understand it is a new location so a crowd is expected. It took me 44 minutes in the drive-thru to receive my food. The young lady working the window struggled to read my order back to me and in the background I could see another employee continue to swap things out of my bag because they weren't the correct item. I appreciate the fact that they took time (a little too much) to verify what was put into the bag, but its called "fast food" for a reason. Waited in line for exactly 43 minutes. Had only one register open. Averaged close to 3-4 minutes per customer because cashier had to explain everything. Meanwhile soda machine is broken. I get to the cashier and the first thing she asks me is, "are you aware of our wait time?" What kind of inane question is that? At this point I just want to order and get my food. In the meantime what appears as the manager is just walking around acting as if he is doing something without doing anything. At least open the other register. The food isn't worth +45 minute wait. Yesterday was the first time my family and I tried Zaxby's and it will be the last time for a very long time. First off, the two stars are for the french fries, otherwise, this review would be one star and that is only because you can't go lower than one. I'll start with the service: We went through the drive-through window at about 1:50 pm, only one other car in front of us, yet we sat there for almost 15 minutes! We order our food- 10 chicken fingerz, fries, and we asked for honey mustard and ranch sauces. We finally get our order and drive off, and we notice that we were not given honey mustard sauce, but got "Zax sauce" instead. We figured it must be their version of honey mustard so we did not go back. The first thing my daughter says is the chicken has a "slight taste of Windex"- that's not good. I try it and sure enough, I get the same taste. I figure it's nothing a little honey mustard won't cure so I open one of the containers up and dip the chicken in and try it and it was absolutely horrific. I don't know who at Zaxby's approved that sauce as their signature sauce, but that stuff is just disgusting, absolutely disgusting. We were only given one ranch sauce, even though we asked for two and we all had to fight over that one. The crinkle-cut fries were good so we devoured them and threw 6 of the 10 chicken fingerz in the trash along with that horrible Zax sauce. I verified online that there is a honey mustard sauce, so clearly the person at the drive-through didn't care enough to give us the correct items and quantities. This is a shame for a brand new business in the area and we will not be returning any time soon. I try to give second chances so if I'm in the area again, and extremely hungry I'll try it again, but more than likely I'll skip it. read more

Walked in and the first place i went was the bathroom... it was very clean and included a toilet urinal and a baby changing table. I went to the counter to order my food, they did mess up my order at first but after i alerted them they provided a free cheddar bite side as compensation. The food came out quick and tasted wonderful. The food was good, customer service was lovely, and the overall experience was wonderful. read more

I ordered off of doordash and they gave me the wrong sauce on both of my wings and things AND gave my PREGNANT girlfriend a beverage she is allergic to that we did not order. OK everyone I went to Zaxby's drive-thru got the TLC chicken sandwich and a 20 ounce Ginger ale with a cup full of ice and maybe 10 seasoned french fries it was in the box. Overall the sandwich was good the presentation could be better. The taste was good and the price wasn't bad $7.94. Not happy with the amount of food that I received. My coworkers have been raving about Zaxby's since it opened a few weeks ago. So I tried it with my son and I'm not convinced it upheld its hype. I ordered the Southern TLC Fillet sandwich and my son had the Big Zax Snax. I added the Buffalo Dip & Tater Chips as appetizer. The order came fairly quick. As I inspected my food, I saw that big pieces of potato slices weren't cooked at all. See photo attached. The dip itself was too salty! Although, I did enjoy my fillet sandwich and my son liked the chicken strips. The fries were generic. The biggest star on this visit was our server. She was just lively and if I'd ever want anyone behind the counter to take food orders, it'd be her. I didn't get her name but I'll sure to attach her name here when we return. Yes, I'll return but I'll be wary of ordering the Buffalo Dip & Tater Chips. If they can't fry potato chips properly, I wonder what else they can mess up. read more

I stopped by Zaxby's in Chantilly at 2:15 pm after making a winter coat donation to a charity. On the way home back to Leesburg, I spotted the restaurant and did a U-turn to get there. I've eaten at Zaxby's in Florida while on vacation but didn't know there was one in the area. I was pretty excited because I've usually really enjoyed the traditional wings with BBQ sauce and blue cheese dressing. But NOT today. I ordered 20 traditional wings (to-go, ordered at the restaurant counter in person not drive-through) with BBQ sauce and blue cheese dressing. The order was ready pretty quickly, which I thought was a good thing at the time -- but found out different. As I walked back to my car, I thought to myself this bag is pretty light because it didn't feel like an order of 20 wings. I thought they might have given me only 10. So after I put the bag in the back of my car, I peeked inside the container. I found 20 anemic wings inside the container with a only a slight drizzle of BBQ sauce. But since they smelled good I continued on home, intending to share the order with my son. Good thing he wasn't home! I re-opened the container and served myself about 5 wings. I sat down and took one bite -- but the wing was as tough and dry as shoe leather! I couldn't even bite into it! Sadly, all the wings were that way. It's unacceptable to pay almost $27 for an order of 20 wings that were so badly overcooked I couldn't even bite into them. They were simply awful. Never again. read more

Meal was great. The chicken tenders were juicy, the fries crispy, and the Zax sauce was incredible. Also had the Texas toast and a side of cole slaw. Everything was delicious and there was hardly a wait time. Things were a lot different when they first opened up with long lines inside and at the drive-thru. Soooo it's the first official day of opening! I couldn't resist heading there since I'm a huge Zaxby's fan being from the peach state and all! Zaxby's is typically my first stop upon arriving home so my excitement was through the roof! Clearly I wasn't the only one excited, the drive through line was packed but moving. Cars were parked at the adjacent businesses and folks were coming in droves! My taste buds were bouncing with excitement. I was slightly irritated with the customer in front of with a long order but I just knew it'd be worth the wait! The staff at the drive window were smiling and genuinely happy! We exchanged $ for the food. I made my way home to jump in to the goodness of traditional wings and things meal doused in nuclear sauce with a large sweet tea. Even tried the chips and buffalo dip. First up was the not so sweet tea, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't a tad bit sweeter but my blood sugar was probably satisfied with it! One of the key drivers for any type of drink at Zaxby's is the pellet ice! I've gone there many a day for just a cup of ice. This is not the same pellet ice out of the special machine that I often think of splurging on just get that type of ice fix. Maybe the special ice machine is inside for dine in only. I'll find out upon a future return. 2nd I'm ready to dive into the traditional wings and things, sigh..... the traditional bone in wings are soggy and soft. I didn't think to request fry hard! I thought crispy wings were the baseline. I'll ask for "fried hard" next time. 3rd the crinkle fries, nice and crispy but a little too much seasoning that I had to dust it off. I know I know it's usually the opposite not enough seasoning. The toast was the star of the meal as usual! The tenders were good but you really can't mess that up, right?! First time ever trying the chips and buffalo dip. The chips were hot off of the press and heavily seasoned and the dip was under seasoned. It balanced out of ok. Look, this is there first day of opening and I'm happy they are here in NoVA. Work out a few kinks and crisp up those traditional wings and I'll be back next week! read more

Having grown up in Georgia I'm very familiar with Zaxby's. My husband and I went through the drive thru on a Saturday afternoon. I had to repeat my order 4! 4 times because of all the yelling in the background. When we got to the window a young girl opened and took my husbands card. She then handed him the card back and the bag of food. After she slammed the window. My husband was trying to ask her if everything was in the bag. She wouldn't open the window. She just sat there and laughed with another girl pointing and giving the thumbs up. We got home and the order was missing all the sauces. Which I paid for. I called the store to speak with a manager about how unprofessional the staff was in the drive thru. Destiny asked me to bring my receipt to give me another meal. Destiny missed the point of the call. Duran and Flip Lawson need to clean house. This location is surrounded by families. There are bound to be more upset customers. read more

I drove from Arlington, to Woodbridge, and from Woodbridge, to Chantilly; just to have Zaxby's. The line was long, but well worth the wait. Keep in mind, today is opening day, so we expected the lines to be long and that is perfectly fine when you're waiting for exceptional customer service and great food. This location was very clean and hip. I highly encourage you to check this location out. The food is amazing and they have the good (small cubed) ice with the Coca Cola machine that allows you to mix multiple drinks. They also had a photo booth and face paint during the evening time on their grand opening day. I am pleased to have Zaxby's in NoVA and will gladly drive from Woodbridge to Chantilly, for great food and great customer service. The owners of this location are super polite, professional, and accommodating. This is a ministry-owned business that employs a diverse staff of young people who are getting their first taste of working with the public. I am grateful that they opened this location and look forward to supporting their other locations to come. read more

I love Zaxby's but this location is horrible! The staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, yet there was about 20 employees. Only 1 on the register while the rest were in the kitchen. The chicken fingers are still good and the coke freestyle machine had every flavor but I can't understand how two chicken finger plates is $20.00 - at least give me more food if you're going to charge that price. I'll wait and come back next year, maybe they'll figure out how to run the restaurant then. read more

I love Zaxbys. I grew up on Zaxbys. I came to the opening of this restaurant. The food is great. But the average wait time is over an hour. I just burned 90 minutes on a Saturday waiting after they told me it "might" be 30 minutes. I never even got my food. They kept saying "it's coming". But. It never did. I was standing around with a crowd of people who had been waiting for over an hour with me. There appeared to be maybe 20+ employees and no food was coming out. There were 10 minute gaps where NO food came out. None. I'm not sure what is going on here. You may love Zaxbys. But you will not like THIS Zaxbys. Wait until they open another one. The Royal Farms across the street? Took 4 minutes to get me my chicken. If you like burning a Saturday standing in line, only to get an angry manager haphazardly giving you the refund you asked for with no explanation on the wait. This is your place. I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews due to the wait. That's like going to any other dining establishment and getting pissed off about the wait when you brought 1000 people with you. Unlike those smart people I decided to come when the line didn't wrap around the building twice. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to explain the menu to you. It did take a bit more time to get my food than another chikin place down the street. The food was nice and hot when I got it. The Texas toast is delicious. I could eat that all day if I didn't care about my health. The chicken is very juicy and had a nice crisp to it. The sandwiches were a little on the salty side, just a little but not overly.
