Been a long while but this Sunday, I stopped by and realized-aha, panera is a neighborhood reliable cafe! Indeed- Solid cafe or market style sandwiches, soups & salads as well as pastries in the Southriding golf community! Nice tables & seatings with power outlets in every corner so you can hang around a little longer with your laptops or tablets while you work and have a bite or sip of coffee or other beverages! Very friendly atmosphere, safe & clean! Staff was nice! I ordered the forest ham gouda melt with broccoli cheese soup which complimented each other! The baguette was fresh, crispy on the outside but soft in the inside which gave it texture at each bite. It was, I think, a footlong and with a cup of soup it was too generous for $15+ total. I asked for half but end up with a whole sandwich. I ate half at the place and ate the other half for lunch the next day and it tasted just as fresh as it was the day prior. Why does it seem that all Panera's are filthy and understaffed these days? This particular location is no exception. Stood at the counter for five minutes waiting for somebody to wait on us, only to watch a stream of people come in and cut in front of us for pick up orders. The poor kid behind the counter didn't seem to know what to do. After waiting and watching this continue for a while., we finally got angry enough to just walk out. We won't be coming back. I've noticed this location going downhill for a while. Yesterday I placed an order and my husband picked it up, only to realize once he got home a sandwich was missing. He called them and let them know and said he was on his way back to pick it up (we live 12 min away so it was about half and hour round trip each time). They made the sandwich and the manager apologized. Fine. The sandwich was the worst made sandwich ever. I ordered a Mediterranean Veggie - there was literally no (I'm talking pretty much scraped off) hummus, and a few measly veggies. Come on! Employees were 'closing' the restaurant at 8pm but they're open until 9pm. Putting chairs up on tables, moving tables around to sweep. Almost all lights were off. Display cases were completely empty. No employees behind counter to order or help, only bagged bread racks floating around behind counters. This location was filthy. Carpets need deep steam cleaning. Tomato soup was gritty, tasted like spaghetti sauce and they microwaved it to death! Couldn't eat it after it burnt my mouth! Needless to say-won't recommend and will NOT be back! I went with a pick two, their new grill cheese and the potato bacon soap with chips but what I ended up with was potato bacon soap and toast that just happened to have cheese they could've put on my soup! They used sprinkled cheese yo make a grilled cheese sandwich, it wasn't even visible! Were they out of regular cheese?? If so, why not say that instead of going with the next best thing because the grilled cheese in the picture looked much more appetizing. I used to work at this very location and it's sad to see what was a very fast an efficient restaurant turn into total chaos due to the general manager. I waited 50 minutes for a $20 breakfast meal and it was made incorrectly. Closest Panera to our crib. Came here with T on my most recent visit and we had a lovely lunch. This place can get packed, depending on the time you visit. You always have the option of ordering your food to go. Employees here have always been the sweetest and incredibly helpful. The You Pick Two has always been my favorite, you can get a half salad, sandwich, or soup. It also comes with a choice of side: apple, baguette, or chips. You place your order with the cashier and then wait for your number to be called. Seat yourself, there is no server at Panera. I've always enjoyed Panera. It's a great place to catch up with a friend over tea/coffee or share a meal together. Could the restaurant be a bit cleaner and organized? Maybe. I was super hungry and for some reason 3 places we stoped at were not open so we were super hungry. Walked in and was greeted with friendly service. Food came out quickly and taste amazing. This Panera allows you to dine in so I did. It was not crowded and everyone working inside was wearing a mask. Everyone eating wore their mask in and when leaving or moving away from the table. I haven't usually had bad service with this location but I did the other day. On Feb. 10th I ordered some items for delivery, including a sandwich. The Order got here when it was supposed to but my sandwich was made incorrectly. They did not make any of the noted changes to it (I even double checked and it was on the receipt). So I called back that same day (during non busy hours) and left a message explaining I wanted a refund for the sandwich and gave my information. I did not hear back from them and now it is a couple days later, the 12th. I called back again to request a refund (again I called during non busy hours), and this time the phone kept ringing and ringing until it eventually hung up, It did not even give me an option to leave a message. Service is slow and not the best I've seen. I come here for the scones, salads soups and Mac and cheese. I dislike their sandwiches and they need to come up with a better menu. I really like the Panera app because I can put in my order and pick up and not have to wait in line and get home after a long day at work. Yesterday I decided to do the pick two option. I ordered a cup of broccoli and cheddar soup with a turkey sandwich with ciabatta bread instead of regular and without tomatoes, spicy mustard, and mayo but have basil pesto. I picked up and not feeling well, I just ate the soup and would eat the sandwich later. I didn't open the sandwich until after they closed only to find it had mayo on it. I do not like most condiments on any of my sandwiches. I'm extremely picky and will not eat it if it has mustard, ketchup, mayo, relish anything really. But basil pesto I recently discovered I like with the turkey. We went back in today to ask for a new sandwich and not only did they accommodate my request for a new sandwich, they gave me a full sandwich AND another broccoli and cheddar soup! Thank you so much to the Manager on duty. That is exactly how every restaurant customer service should be. Friendly, understanding and accommodating to the needs of the customer. I thought it was a one off for prior visits, but this Panera is SO painfully SLOW. I have had to wait 30 mins PAST the time my online order said it would be ready by, the last 2 visits. This time, I have now been here over 45 minutes (past the "order ready time". After inquiring about my order, they stated that they don't even see the it yet and they are extremely behind, and that this is typical for them so I would just need to wait. I am Panera fan and my only choice of fast food is Panera but this location is the worst one in whole nation. The management is poor and don`t know how to handle the restaurant. I orders 5 meals last week and after 30 minutes my pager called and I received only two meals and they told me they were out of the rest and they did`t even apologize. My pregnant wife had to go to work hungry and I bought just a cake from Giant in front of the restaurant. when I asked for the refund the rude manager just make a partially refund and she even did`t give the refund of my two other meals. This is the worst managed Panera I have experienced. Panera is typically my go-to for breakfast and morning coffee but when I end up coming to the one near my house which this Panera is located in south riding va, there is always just one person handling things in the morning. This location is the only location I opt for the self check out because of this problem and today it was not an option. I left after watching employee after employee look at me and do nothing. There were three of us in line with a fourth walking in and an army of employees scrambling around doing what exactly I don't know. There were at least 6-7... if this was my first owner I wouldn't have lost my marbles but when a place becomes unreliable when every other place I go to it's a franchise standard it's frustrating.
