I visited this place specifically for their fish and chips. The batter was very tender and thin, which was really delicious. I wish it had a little lesser salt, but what I had was great. The location was very clean and servers were very attentive and I really did appreciate that. Manager also visited very often and made us feel cared for. It was disappointed disheartening and almost sinful so happy I didn't get sick (salmonella). First off the waitress was nice but couldn't make many recommendations as she didn't eat most of the food there which should have been a sign. We ordered the lobster bisque which the lobster was at the bottom of the bowl and was very dark and chewy the soup was room temperature which is bad bad bad all around, sent it back. Then ordered oysters on the half shell which were decent variety most were small. The next worst thing of the evening was the fish tacos that were not cooked it was cold and rubbery which immediately grossed me out. I made reservations about an hour before we planning on getting there, which for a Saturday night at 6ish was amazing. We started with a dozen oysters and the appetizer special - Ceviche. I was impressed when it was a variety of boutique oysters - Sweet Jesus, Ford Signature and Tangler. They were all very good and clean, I do wish they had remembered to bring the mignonette. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful. For entrees my husband got the Ribeye Special topped with a lobster sauce served with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked perfectly and quality cut. My son got the filet and mushrooms with chorizo mac and cheese. Again, cooked well and quality cut. The mac and cheese was VERY good. I was a smidge complicated as I wanted the blackened scallop pasta but with shrimp and oysters instead. Zero problems. Penne pasta in a tequila lime sauce with peppers and onions. Delish! Our daughter got the steak and mashed potatoes off the kids menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't have reservation and we were willing to wait 25 min. Hostess took our number and 30 min has passed and no text. Went to check the status and we were told that the notification system is down!!!! They offered us to sit on the next table available. We got our oysters followed by the entrees. Highly anticipated and sorely disappointed. Every single dish we ordered (fish and chips, crab cakes) was painfully overly salted and I ended up with a stomachache. The clam chowder had a vinegar/sour note that was concerning, and the Angry Mussels did not come out hot and with almost no broth for us to dip our bread in. Also, the bread came out cold and stale. This was a great place to take our visitors from out of state because it showcased just how delicious seafood from this side of the country is! The oysters have always been so fresh and flavorful each time we got them, and literally everything we've had here has always been delicious - I can confidently say I've never had a bad dish here! Our visiting family was also very impressed. I had the New England cod, which was nice and light, and the sides of mashed potatoes and green beans worked perfectly with the cod. The smoked salmon bruschetta was a crowd favorite, although we had too much tomato and a little less salmon. Service is great, but we were disappointed that we couldn't partake in happy hour because of seating arrangements...they only do happy hour on one side of the restaurant, but there wasn't enough space for our party to move there (we had a toddler with us too) so we ended up paying full price for our oysters. It's standard sweet corn bread with kernels of corn Grilled fish tacos- the server suggested grilled over fried for first time trying and it didn't disappoint Jambalaya pasta- also good! What a great treat!!! The perfect birthday lunch. They apparently just opened this location less than a year ago. That shopping center needed this. The restaurant is beautiful, with plenty of seating, and a huge bar area. Our server was the sweetest. She was extremely attentive and friendly. She was well versed on the menu and the specials and offered her recommendations. They have daily specials, and on Monday's they have $1 oysters!! Omg. You can't beat that. The first time we tried Ford's Fish Shack I couldn't stop eating my husband's French fries off his fish and chips dish. He gave me a bite of the fish as well with a dip of the tartar sauce. OMG! I left wishing he didn't eat every bite & craved his fish & chips for a return visit in the near future. We went back a couple of weeks later and the fries were soggy & limp. The fish & shrimp fry weren't at the same level as our previous trip. It was a super let down. Maybe the oil wasn't as fresh or the fryer temp wasn't where it needed to be? The shrimp were rubbery (overcooked). The fact that there isn't a consistent standard coming out of the kitchen is why I didn't give 5 stars. The wait staff is amazing. Worth a re-do! They know their fish and how to serve it up. Service was friendly, informative, and attentive. We started with rocket shrimp as it was spoken very highly of in other reviews. It did not disappoint! Crazy though ... I could have munched on the Asian slaw for the entire meal. It was delish! For our entrees we got the pecan-crusted trout and the daily special, sheep's head fish. Both dishes were amazing! My fave was the sheepshead fish with the pasta, veg, and sauce. If it ends up on the regular menu I would not complain. The angel hair pasta had the perfect texture and was great for serving up the vegetables and sauce. To top off the meal we had the crème brûlée. It was tasty and refreshing. The flavors were on point and made a fine end to the meal. If they were closer, they would be on my regular rotation. The establishment is the size it should be and the decor was great, I like the look of the open concept. The menu was the same, I didn't get a chance to see if there were any new menu items but the menu never disappoints. The waitstaff were all very polite and friendly, always a plus. I came here the day after it was announced that Ford's was open at East Gate! I was super excited to stop by and to see what the new restaurant was like. this new restaurant is tucked in behind the other shops at East Gate depending on which way you drive in. located behind the Walgreens and next to the shopping center with the Harris Teeter, you'll find the new Ford's restaurant. I walked in right at 11 AM & it seemed like they were in the middle of a team huddle, but immediately stopped and greeted me. I came here to order my company's lunch for the day and the girl at the front was very helpful. they took my order and the names for each order down as well. we had a slight miscommunication and she ended up swiping my card 15 times for my order. the food was quick & came out after 20 minutes. the only issue that occured was when I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and they gave me a regular side Caesar salad. I did not call the restaurant as other issues arose that afternoon. I'm sure they would've fixed it. the new restaurant is a huge upgrade from the previous one. very modern, open ceilings, more farmhouse approach. I noticed the windows open up and I'm sure there will be gorgeous patio seating offered in the spring time. I overheard someone on staff mention a party room that they are currently working on as well so it seems you'll be able to rent a space at Ford's for your private party soon! over all I'm happy to not have to drive to Ashburn to get to Ford's! read more

Love everything about Ford's! The lobstah nacho appetizer was so flavorful and light, Great to share while waiting for the main course. Billy's lobster tail dinner with 2 tails, you choose fried or grilled tails (I got both) and both were delicious. The dipping butter is noticeably different than other restaurants, high quality and so flavorful!! Perfect to go with the amazing seafood. I mentioned to the waiter how the melted butter was so good and he said they make the butter in house!! Wow! You can tell the difference. My wife, son, and I went here for dinner the other night. My wife and I had been there before for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. After a few minutes my wife settled on the jambalaya but since she is allergic to oysters I told the server to omit them. I had the crab cake sandwich and my son the scallops. When the server bought our food, guess what was in the jambalaya? Oysters! Good thing my wife noticed, or we would have had a situation! The sever humbly apologized and said she keyed it correctly and it was on the kitchen. She even double checked herself. After a bit, a manager came by to see if everything was ok, and I explained everything to her. She never introduced herself nor did she apologize. At the end, she didn't even comp my wife's meal! I called to complain yesterday and since the GM wasn't in, I spoke to the manager who answered the phone. Her name is Patrona and is the one on duty that night. She did apologize and gave me her cell number so I could let her know next time we're in so she can take care of our meal. That's great, but shouldn't this have happened while we were there? Steamed shrimp was hard to peel and tasted bleh, indicating it was overcooked, not fresh or frozen...probably a combination. It's usually a highlight. Ceviche was okay...wouldn't get it again. That Peruvian place in Reston has way better ceviche. Lobster and crab sandwiches were okay, but nothing to write home about. There are food trucks with better. Service was a bit clunky and spicy, but kind... not recommended. Years ago I had fish tacos from the Ford's food truck. They were some of the best I ever had. So good that I drove here two weekends in a row from PG County. The hour drive is worth it. They really do a great job on seafood. The service was great both times and the food is very consistent. Their dining room is really well planned out and I love that you can still sit outside and be inside at the same time. Definitely in my top DMV restaurants and the portion sizes are filing.
