Great selection of reasonably priced, cute, stylish clothes. I stopped into the post-holiday sale yesterday and snagged two super cute dresses for $29.99 each, which was definitely a steal. I didn't have too much trouble with the sizes, but that might just be because I only tried on dresses and shirts (less temperamental than pants or jeans when it comes to size). In addition to clothes, Zara also had a nice selection of bags and shoes, although the prices were a bit steeper for these items. The only downside to the store is its salespeople - obnoxious! Like many other reviewers, no one even considered greeting me when I walked in or, moreover, as I walked around the store collecting items to try on. Hmmmm...Staff didn't appear to be busy and came close to outnumbering the shoppers, which was odd, yet didn't acknowledge me at all even when I was standing next to them going through the racks. If there hadn't been such a great sale, I would have been offended. Are they trying to create some sort of quasi-European feel ('cause, um, Spain is such an unfriendly place?)? Basically, I dealt with the pseudo-boutique treatment from a store that's basically a $10 step up from H&M. Great store, yes, but let's be real. In all, I definitely suggest stopping in if you want cute clothes at a good price and can put up with being ignored. I'll be back, but will practice my best I'm-ignoring-you face prior to my next visit. read more

This store is awful for many reasons: First, the men's clothes look tacky and ugly. The material looks very cheaply made. The clothes themselves just don't make sense; leather jacket except the sleeves which are sport coat material...huh? If you are not a heroin addict and weight more than 180 pounds, you will not fit into anything in this store. I tried on a XXXL and it was too small. Normally I can fit into L-XL depending on the style, but a XXXL being to small, come'on! The staff there look like they peaked in life. The staff was rude, now maybe they heard me making fun of the majority of the clothes in the store. The shorts look like they are boy-daiseydukes... Everything about this store is just dumb. Will not go back, unless its raining and I just want a laugh (I work across the street). read more

I love the style and price point of Zara. I have visited this store a dozen times and each time, I am disappointed by the unorganized messiness of the store. I have never been greeted when I walk into the store. Dressing room is always dusty- the attendants won't get you different sizes or an item. You have to physically leave and get them yourself. The store itself is disorganized- the tables are always in disarray with piles of unfolded clothing everywhere. read more

Worst customer service ever. My son got a $90 pair of pants here as a gift. They don't fit and we want to make an exchange. I went to the Old Orchard store and despite having all the tags on the pants, plus the return mailing label in hand, they would not take them back. Said that I needed the online invoice. How would I have this since i didn't order them? Who includes an invoice with a gift? So, I call their customer service number on the phone. Then I was on hold for about 15 minutes. Then I finally got someone who said that they couldn't help me. They have to have the invoice. So now they are telling me to call the corporate store directly. More time wasting. NEVER shop here. Update: It only gets worse. When I finally got through to corporate, they told me that the store should have been able to take them back in the first place. Meanwhile, I had managed to get the original receipt emailed to me from the gift giver. I went back to a different store with that in hand. This time I was told that they couldn't take the pants back because they needed a special code that isn't on the tags, invoice, or return materials. Basically, they make it impossible to return a gift. And waste hours of your time in the process of telling you to do the wrong thing that won't work anyway. read more

If I could give less than one star here I would. Let me start off by saying I think their clothing is very nice and worth the price. However my shopping experience each time I come into the store has been less than positive. So I go in today to try to buy a few piece of clothing for my husband as we're leaving out of town. I just left work and there's very limited trains to go to my home so I only have about 40 minutes. I quickly do my shopping get everything I need in about 10 minutes and then I go to the register. There is over 18 people in line at the register and only two registers are running. I go upstairs to the men's department to ask them if they could kindly open the register because there's so many people downstairs I'm told abruptly no go downstairs if you wanna buy something. I ask one of the ladies downstairs is there another register or is there any way or any other form of being able to be checked out of the store since there's so many people. Her response to me? Our clothes are worth it get in line and wait don't complain. So I took everything I throw it on the first rack and I leave the store. I don't need to get treated like a piece of garbage Because they're too lazy and I'm willing to open another register. I think 18 people in line and the two cashiers moving at a completely glacial pace warrants the other registered you have upstairs to be opened and believe me there was more than enough people working there they could've done that read more

Overpriced, cheaply made clothes. It's the Forever21 type quality but with Banana Republic prices. The size selection is terrible and there are no good accessories. The only time I was acknowledged by someone who worked here was the one time the security guard said hi...at least I think she worked there. Would never spend my money here or recommend that anyone else do so either. read more

Their is a line to the door for the one fitting room on the 1st floor they refuse to open up the second one and are allowing the people in the fitting room to send someone that they are with out to get more things so they spend 20-30 mins in the fitting room. Make it make sense. What. This place has such poor management. read more

I love Zara's clothes, and I usually find things that work well, even though I'm on the larger end of their spectrum, but this location didn't wow me. I even liked the sales girls, which seems to be the source of the frowny faces for a lot of Yelpers. They were nice at the check-out and didn't bug me while I shopped. Which is what I prefer. My lukewarm reaction to this store is the size and in my opinion, lack of selection. Perhaps I got spoiled by the spacious, nicely laid out Old Orchard location, but this one is small enough to make me nervous that they won't have what I want, unlike the Old Orchard one. I'd upgrade a star for proximity to Beard Papa, but then I wouldn't fit in the clothes, so I'll stick with three. read more

I've been to both Zara stores and I love their stuff... period. I have an inside scoop on Zara ( i worked there before) so I know what to expect. This one is ok but the men's selection is not as big as the one on michigan so I gotta give that one a higher score. Seriously, I don't care about getting greeted as long as there is someone around when I need it and thats a check and they aren't staring at you or completely ignoring you (you gotta find balance). With that said, some of the sales people are stuck up as hell (wannabe models and designers that will never make it) and you'll find them conversing among themselves rather than helping, but some of them are nice as well but they try when called upon. All and all, Zara's stuff is awesome and I love their business model and pricing on some items, but michigan avenue is better... read more

They forgot to take a sensor off an item I bought and I threw out the receipt because I didn't notice until a week later when I went to wear the item. I now have a convenient location for when my wife sends me to her favorite store, and I got some great stuff for my daughter. The employees seem more courteous than any other Zara I've been in including Paris, Geneva, and DC. However, I was looking at the hats in the men's department, and asked if there were any more convenient ones to try on as they were all on the mannequins. The guy helping me literally took the hat off the mannequin and looked inside it as we were talking, then put it back without handing it to me and walked away... read more

A new favorite...love their clothes! Once in a while you walk into a place where you want one of everything and this is it. Got a winter coat with a ridiculous collar that I had to exchange back because I couldn't breathe from being suffocated in the coat. Only downside is the variable customer service, they seem quite busy and most don't have the time to give you a true opinion or show you related options, with a couple notable exceptions. I will be checking in many a time in the near future, this is just my style! read more

I love Zara. They have a great selection of clothes from business, casual, out, etc. Not to mention, reasonably priced and good quality. What else I like, no pushy sales people. They just let you go and roam. LOVE! If I need something, I will ask. read more

I always find whatever I want at Zara, whether it's for work or for play. I was a big fan of this place while living in Europe, and was thrilled when they finally decided to open here. A few things to note about this brand: It's really inexpensive for clothes that are relatively good quality. Most of the items I've purchased here are made in Portugal rather than China, so that's nice. Also, the clothing runs kind of small (although a fellow yelper said they ran big...maybe I'm just fat). A few things to note about this store: super convenient location across from the Daley Center (convenient for those of us who work downtown, that is), and the store rarely gets very crowded. The people who work there are pretty stand off-ish but that's fine. I don't like being bothered while I'm shopping anyway. One more thing: most of my fall wardrobe is from here. I just can't stay away! read more

I want to like their clothes. The prices are reasonable, but I haven't been able to find anything that looks good on me. The sales clerks are a little stand offish, but after all this is not a high end store. I don't expect to escorted to the dressing room, and have different sizes gotten for me here. If i ever find anything here that works for me, I will give them 5 stars, but they only seem to design for one body type. read more

A Spanish Gap? That's what I've heard Zara is. Nope - H&M all the way. Their clothes caught my eye (I needed funky-can be conservative-age appropirate) but up close and on they are cheap. I do not just mean the price ($20 blouses - I had to buy two because when do you eve see that?) the clothes are not well constructed and made out of cheap fabric. Darn, I really wanted to like this place. I just feel my shirts are going to fall apart after one wearing and wash. We'll see. I can see myself stopping here if I am in real need of a last minute outfil after work and will have to suck it up if I can only wear once - I do like the style, after all. read more

Went in yesterday (a Saturday) and the store was relatively empty. Between looking around, trying on clothes and checking out, I don't think one sales associate made eye contact with me the entire time. They too were busy complaining about their hours with one another. I think some re-training in customer service is needed. I do, however, need to give a shout out to the kind security guard at the front door. He made eye contact, welcomed me to the store and held the door open for me both on my way in and out. He gets five stars. The rest get two. read more

Attn: Corporate Headquarters, are you listening? I'll start by saying I have been visiting the Zara in the loop for a long time, even before the remodel. Clothes were always super cute, great value and staff was just "fine". However, today I was FURIOUS enough to walk out on what would have been a $250+ purchase because of what a miserable experience I had. 1. I walked in to zara and spent about 35 minutes browsing. 35 minutes in, not a single employee working at zara greeted me or offered any assistance. Not to mention they all looked incredibly miserable- no visible smiles or even a sense of looking approachable and friendly. I asked an employee to kindly point me in the direction of the leggings and she responded, "um i think maybe i saw some on a table upstairs, but they are like everywhere..". As my pile of clothes started stacking up on my arm, I was visibly struggling to hold all the items without them dragging on the floor or dropping the pants hanging over my arm. Nobody offered to start a room for me or offer a place i could leave the clothes until i was ready to try them on.. 2. I made my way to the dressing room on the 2nd floor and noticed it was blocked off. An employee rolling a clothing rack was talking on her cell phone walking by me. I tried to quietly get her attention to ask if there was another dressing room and she rolled her eyes at me and continued walking with her cell phone. I walked around for another 5 minutes trying to find a staff member, who directed me back to the 1st floor dressing room. When i got to the dressing room downstairs I smiled and said hi enthusiastically to the attendant. His immediate response wasn't hello. It was, "pick one that's open". Obviously a real warm & fuzzy kind of guy... I tried on my clothes and did some more browsing. Still no hello from anyone. 3. Icing on the cake was getting in line to check out. There were 8 girls in front of me waiting in line and 1 employee working the register. She then yelled to the line that there was no wait in the men's section or kid's section (back upstairs). I was shocked that a store of this size only had one employee working a register and guests had to be directed to another floor to check out versus calling additional employees to open up another register on the main floor. So alas, i started to make my way up the stairs. As i was walking up the stairs I noticed two employees trying on shoes in the dressing room, while another chatted casually with the fitting room attendant. I walked to the kids section where naturally, there was a 4 person line of people waiting to check out. The cashier then had to call a manager over to process something that required "manager approval". After waiting 7+ minutes for the manager to come complete this one order, I dropped my clothing on a kids table and left.... 9/10 times I choose to take the high road and understand that there are certain things out of people's control but unfortunately, 150% of what I experienced today was just due to a lack of respect and a lack of hospitality. You are positioned in one of the busiest shopping districts in the second largest city in America for visitation- your crappy attitudes lend such a missed opportunity to be a really successful destination. Akira is across the hall in Block 37 and their employees will bend over backwards for you. :) read more

I'll start by saying I usually am a big fan of Zara's products. I've been shopping at the Loop location since they opened and never had any problems prior to the renovation. However since the construction, this stores gone to hell. The lack of customer service is noticeable as soon as you walk in the door. I'm never greeted anymore, even though i can see 4-6 or more employees on the first floor as soon as i walk in. Today I went to exchange an item that was a gift that didn't fit. They didn't have my size on the floor and when I asked for help, the female employee just looked through a cell phone then notified me that they didn't have the size. When I tried looking for another similar item that I saw on the same table as the item i was returning about 3 days prior, the employee simply said she knew what i was talking about, but that they were a summer style and refused to check the stockroom for my size. Defeated, I just opted to return the item for cash back. The girl at the register called for help since she was the only one at the desk and didn't know how to do a simple return. Then her coworker peeped her head outside from the back, made some kind of stink face at me, and proceeded to chuck a bag full of censors on the ground, making a loud noise. The atmosphere around the new employees is just all around rude. I'm glad I was able to get cash back for the gift instead of store credit because I don't think i'll ever be returning to this location. Save yourself the frustration and visit Akira across the hall. Their staff is WAY more knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Good womens stylish clothes, but why are there men in the womens dressing room? Or is it a unisex dressing room? Slow at the register, only one man obliged to help us. But felt funny going into the dressing room with a male employee right there, and at times there were two in there, talking about where they were gonna go that evening for drinks. I'll buy on line from now on. read more

I keep hoping the next time I go into this Chicago store, it'll be better and perhaps be closer to the memory of the flagship Zara store in Barcelona that I wish were here; but sadly isn't. First of all, walking in Zara, the store looks sad, as if its been negatively impacted by this awful winter. It's so dark, dreary and drab. There's a few sales staff here and there, but these girls prefer to leave the customer alone from the time they enter the store, saving a goodbye as you walk out of the store empty-handed. There also doesn't seem to be a differentiation between the mess on the $5.99, $19.99 and full price racks. It just all looks so ubiquitous and blah to me. I guess if one is merely window shopping and doesn't want to be tempted into purchasing anything, this Zara is the place to be. I give this location another year and that's about it. read more

I'm not rating the store on "other shoppers" like the one reviewer said she hates other shoppers? What I dislike about this store is that I consistantly receive bad customer service from the employees EVERY TIME I GO THERE. I have lived near by for 4 years and have been there many times and it's always the same thing. I've worked in customer service and in a salon for a long time so I get it, if anything I am more then understanding of what it can be like, and I'm sure working in retail can suck. But today was just the last time I will returning there. It's close to me, but I'd rather go through the hassle of buying online and sending items back then keep going there. Michigan Ave store is much better, they should probably close this one. My experience from today went typical to what it normally is but particularly even more awful today. Their store always looks nice and I get it its probably annoying to refold clothes all day long, but thats retail. I was there during the late morning early afternoon on a thursday so it was not a weekend or your typical "busy" time. The clothes were all torn up on the tables like no one even cared to try and refold them, not that that even really bothers me, maybe everyone was busy. I go back to try on 5 things, and when I walk up the one women who was working to put back clothes people had tried on turned around and knocked into me without even apologizing while I like any normal human being said "oh I'm sorry" when you knock into someone. When I told the women I had 5 items she seemed annoyed by it. Alright I can understand, more clothes to hang up whatever, but its not like it was busy back there. I tried on my clothes and decided that the jeans I tried on I just needed to go a size down, rather then ASK the women to grab them for me I just decided I can just do that myself and go check out. I go to get the jeans I need in a different size and a women is putting the jeans under one of the shirts as their "model" outfits. Keep in mind she as not putting these jeans on a mannequin, literally hanging them on a hook under a shirt, I say excuse me are those the size 2 (because I knew when I grabbed the 4 that was the only size 2 there) she literally turned to me rolled her eyes in disgust and said nothing!!! I was not asking her for help in anyway, but just to grab a pair of jeans!!! What makes me so disgusted with this store is that I am doing nothing but giving my business to them. I don't "expect" any kind of crazy demands or demand anyones special attention or service. I am very understanding because I work in a similar customer service situation. However, this I cannot understand, going into the store to purchase clothing and the people who work there make it OBVIOUS that they hate you for disturbing them and bringing the store business. Everyone has bad days but this is downright rude, and I hope they will start to employ people who actually want to work there and not run people out of the store. read more

Rude female employee at the fitting room. Young lady, you are paid to service the customers, not to be a queen and order customers around. The customers are all polite to you. Worst of the worst. Everyone who works here is RUDE, INDIFFERENT, and SNOBBY. I honestly didn't care about writing a review until I went in there recently and just felt so much animosity in here for no reason. Seriously, y'all have to lighten up and smile. Would it kill you to be friendly and say hello instead of shoving past me in a hurry? Do you REALLY need to stand behind the counter gossiping about a fellow coworker when I AM TRYING TO BUY SOMETHING? Everything about this store irritates me - the layout, the messiness, the shop workers. The service here is crap. Not that the store on Michigan Avenue is any better, but at least they have a logical layout and more clothing options to look at. read more

I like some of the clothes here (very hit or miss) but the staff people are really rude. The girl in the waiting room ushered guests into the dressing rooms with a curt "How many items? Return everything on the hanger, okay?." I was taken aback when she barked that at me, but then as I was trying on my items. I heard her recited the exact same line to everyone that walked-in. I do think it is rude to leave all your clothes on the floor, and I understand that some people don't, but to have a staff person direct you around while you are considering making a purchase at their establishment is a bit off-putting. Cash wrap area is even worse. The staff stare at you blankly, barely greet you, don't smile back. The girl who checked me out acted offended when I asked her return policy and then totally me I could only get cash back at "the manager's discretion" even within thirty days with tags on, receipt, blahblahblah, because she "didn't want to promise me anything." Promise me anything? Isn't that basic premise of a return policy? It also contradicts the return clause on the back of receipt (I checked). I also witnessed a MANAGER blatantly ignore a customer who was trying to get her attention about an item. The woman had to tap her on the shoulder before she responded, even though she was only 3-5 feet away from her. The manager than sloooowly turned and rolled her eyes before assisting the customer. Bottom line: -trendy, fashion-forward finds: inconsistent quality -bit over priced considering quality and materials -rude, disinterested staff I won't be back. read more

Poor customer service. Managers and staff not helpful at all. Both the locations in Chicago - state st &michigan avenue always have only 1-2 counters open out of 5-6.... the line moves super slow. I went to return something without a receipt , I was told i can exchange it for a different size, but when the manager was called, she told me the item was missing an "internal" tag & gave me CS number to call if they can make an exception. This was an interesting store. Looked like it was going to be pricey but they were surprisingly cheap. Lots of different and strange styles but also fun and funky. Found 2 summer weight sweaters and a cozy scarf/ shawl, all for $33. There were three behind the counter, at which no one time were they all waiting on customers. Overall, I was pleased with my purchase. read more

Customer service here has always been non-existent. But yesterday was beyond non-existent. It was a slap in the face and straight disrespectful. A loud obnoxious salesman was behind the counter chatting up a storm with it looked like, a friend who had stopped in. They were telling each other stories of slipping and falling on snow/ice in public. HA. HA. HA.....he looked me in the eye a couple times because I kept staring him down like HELLO. Shut up, get on your register, and help me check out of here! (Another cashier was helping someone else). It was finally my turn. Another customer is now behind me in line and as soon as SHE walks up, he shuts the f*ck up and bounces over to his register to help her, and temporarily excuses himself in the middle of another "omg I slip and fell on snow" story. I was 2 seconds away of straight up asking him "how come you help her, but can't help me?" Honestly way too tired and hungry to deal. If I had some food in me, I woulda chewed him out. Coincidence that he, the girl he was yapping away with, and the customer, were all the same race. I was obviously not. Zara's customer service is officially worse than Akira in my book. It takes a whole lot for me to write a negative review and this one is WAY overdue. The employees of this location should not be able to speak with customers. I guess I'm not really sure what I expected when entering this store. Ok I have a few issues here: 1. While the clothes are beautiful, who are they fitting? I wear a small, and still nothing fits. I just don't get it. A store like this should have 1 goal- wearability. And you have failed Zara. 2. Could I bother the staff to be a little friendlier? Would it kill them to welcome me to the store or ask me if I need a dressing room? Clearllllly sociability is not a prerequisite for a job at Zara. 3. I've had a weird experience the 2 times I've been there. The first time I saw a vest on mannequin. I asked an employee where I could find it, she said they don't carry it in the store... So your advertising an item you don't have? Hm... Then I say ok can I try that one? No, they don't do that, but I can order it online. Why on earth am I going to order it online, pay for shipping, and have no idea if it fits right. The second time I went today I had a similar experience. I asked a salesperson where a pair of boots were that I saw on 2 mannequins in the window. She said they sold out. A. If your out of them, take the boots off display. B. get off your lazy tush and at least offer to them off the mannequin. I wear a 7, those likely would have fit and you could have made a $120 sale. I worked in retail for a very long time- this is not how an efficient store operates. Go to the one on michigan ave. More merchandise and slightly better staff, slightly. read more

The redesign of this newly renovated location is ok. The selection continues to be good, although floor is often very messy. The main issue is that checkout is always very SLOW. Both of my last visits they have had 1-2 cashiers working while at least 9-10 customers wait in line. Returns have to wait in the same line and each one needs a manager to be called over. Why wouldn't the manager stay closer? I have walked out on multiple occasions due to excessively long wait to checkout (10-15+ mins) read more

I give it three stars (and the Michigan Ave store) because it lacks certain amenities -- like a freeking shopping bag or smallish cart so you can store 4-5 items. Otherwise you have to walk around with them in your hands. They have shoes displayed all over the store, but there are no benches to sit & try the shoes on. Bad business, Zara. On the good side, when they have a sale, they have wonderful deep discount sales. The cashier help is average, but there's no one walking around the store helping you or answering questions.
