Really love the comfortable feeling clothes here and all the varieties if dresses, cute tops, boxer style shorts intimates and sweaters. I've shopped here multiple times with my Pyrenees and I love the fact that everything here is either 100% cotton or very close to it. All the intimates I've purchased fit extremely well or I wouldn't keep coming back. I prefer leaving five stars as a local guide but instead I'm leaving three because of the fact that you can't try on anything here before you buy it so if you aren't a Chicago local you're out of luck. So far i haven't had to return anything though because all of these dresses have adjustable straps and if you buy drawstring shorts you can tighten or loosen the material to fit your body type. I am only five foot one so I can definitely fit into these clothes. The only item that didn't fit me well are a pair of denim shorts I purchased but I may either resell them or lose a bit of weight lol. Here all the fitting rooms are permanently closed. But what really upset me yesterday was the fact that I wanted to try on a metallic gold sweater top but the security guard stopped me and said it's the store policy that no one can try anything on not even a sweater! I don't agree with that policy nor have I ever shopped at a boutique women's clothing store where you can't try on something as simple as a sweater! I also wish to add that when you check out not all the girls are friendly. You're told that all intimates are non refundable as a warning and they never ask you if you've had a pleasant shopping experience. They ring everything up kind of like it's just a job to them then ask you if you want a bag? May I suggest to upper management that you train your staff to be kinder and bag everything up. Better yet provide cute cloth bags as a kindness a cute complimentary cloth bag that we can reuse like the bags provided by Free People brand so that it's eco friendly! In summary some of the staff are polite enough to want to help but yesterday there weren't enough sales crew on the floor and some of the cashiers were looking kind of harried. When Brandy Melville first opened a location in Chicago, the shop was pretty small to the point you could barely even move around in it and they had to limit the amount of people inside. I'm glad they changed it to the current location that has two levels and is much more spacious, but it STILL feels too crowded in there each time I've gone (especially on the weekends). My biggest pet peeve here is that the line to go to the dressing room has people blocking entire walls of clothes, so other shoppers can't really look at those items. The employees (who could be mistaken for shoppers most of the time) are typically folding clothes constantly, which also makes it difficult if they are working on folding a section and I can't really browse that section if they are standing in the way. I try to understand because with the amount of traffic in and out of this store, they definitely try to keep it looking nice and neat. Also was sad they had no free stickers or pins by the register this time like they usually do. Womp womp. I've been here many times because I hate paying their expensive shipping prices. It's a great place to just get simple clothes for everyday wear. Their prices are more affordable when compared to other shops too. They always have new styles every time I come here. I understand this store is usually very crowded and the staff have to manage a lot of people, but I think they could communicate with customers much more politely. My friends and I were just looking around and touching and feeling the clothes, and a staff member came over and told us we couldn't do that in a very unfriendly tone. It honestly felt almost insulting rather than just a normal reminder. Also, before we entered, we had a can and were literally looking for somewhere to throw it away. Instead of simply asking if we needed a trash can or showing us where one was, a staff member just told us, "We don't allow cans in here," in the same rude tone. I completely understand that stores have rules, especially when they're crowded, but there are much nicer ways to communicate them. We weren't trying to cause any problems. We were literally about to buy the hoodie but after how they treated us, we just left because of their attitude. What made the experience especially uncomfortable was that my friends and I were Asian, don't know if staffs were tryna show some racism or anything like that but we felt like we were being singled out because staff repeatedly approached us but not for the other customers. I can't say what their intention was, but it made us feel watched and unwelcome. I don't care if they think they can treat customers badly just because there are only a few Brandy Melville locations in Illinois and people will keep coming back anyway. After my experience, I'm never going to this location again. I'd rather just order online. read more

I am a disabled marine. I requested a seat to sit down while my daughter shopped around. They provided accommodations but not even two minutes later a different associate stated you can't sit there you need to stand up. I explained that I was provided seating by another associates she gave me a dirty look like I wa slaying walked away. Not even 5 minutes later that associate sent the security guard to take away an accommodated seat by there own store. They didn't do this discreetly. They did this in front of a big crown that was also shopping in this store. Very poor service to disabled people. read more

this place is bizarre. watch the documentary on it to learn the sick history. took my kid to this location and was swiftly followed around by a security guard bc i was (dutifully) carrying around an empty iced tea cup. when i was holding an armful of my kid's selections and put the cup down about .0001 inch from my feet (to grab later) the security guard pounced on me and practically walked me out to the corner to throw out the trash telling me "i'm not cleaning up your trash for you" as if i asked her to. i'd imagine the manager is too busy talking about "who's at the top of her pyramid" with the other clerks who were standing around to care about not having a well run store. would rather give money to the encampments under the viaducts on LSD. read more

The clothes here are one size fits all. Weird concept. My daughter wanted to shop there. She picked up a few items. It's not pricey but seems overpriced for what you get. The store has a lot of repeated merchandise on tables and there is no where to sit or rest if you are just waiting. At some point I went outside to get fresh air. I guess BM is a trend now. This is one of the nicest Brandy's we've been to (we've been to NYC, San Fran, Boston, LA, DC, Honolulu, and Tokyo). It's conveniently located off of Michigan Avenue near the Prada store and a Walgreens. It's a typical Brandy with the same decor you see in stores coast to coast with one difference....its the biggest one we've been in. No narrow aisles and wall to wall girls. By Brandy standards it's huge. We always come to pick up a few items for our daughter and some my wife picks up for herself. I don't know what other reviewers are saying about the employees being rude because everyone we spoke with was helpful and pleasant. We left with a smile on our faces. Five stars! read more

The service is some of the worst I've ever experienced I understand their young but genuinely need people to be fired bc there's no excuse. I've gone there multiple times never have been asked for help ONCE. I'm 19 and I was apphalled and couldn't believe some of the conversations I was hearing. My teen, along with every other teen, is obsessed. While she's far from patient, she has no issues with lining up with dozens of other teens outside of Brandy Melville. I've now wasted more hours of my life at Brandy Melville than I care to admit. I thought we were smart by getting there right when they opened for our most recent visit, but even that was a 30 min line. The Chicago store is small and narrow. I'm hoping one day they expand, which would result in shorter lines, but as of now their downtown location on Walton is the only one in Illinois. I'm crossing my fingers for Old Orchard or Northbrook Court, which would make many North Shore teenagers happy campers. I don't really see what's so special about their clothes and the "one size fits all" confuses me since girls at this age (or any age) are many different shapes and sizes. But I've also discovered that many teens like to dress exactly like each other and so I waited in line with many girls in their brandy, aritzia, lululemon uniforms. Once inside we loaded up with sweatpants and number shirts that looked exactly like the clothes she has at home...and got in another line (whoo hoo) for the dressing room. I'm not even sure why there's a need to try it on at this point since she knows how their shirts and sweatpants fit, but i think that's part of the fun. Fortunately, there was no line at the cash register so we made our purchases (I will admit their pricing is pretty good) and left...making the dreams of the teenager girl at the front of the line outside come true. read more

The hours posted online are not the actual hours. Online, it says they open at 10 AM. We had to be else where at 12 PM today, and took the hour and a half long detour out of the way to stop here (we live far away) for a little right when they "opened" at 10, just to get here and see that it is not open until 12 PM. The WORST STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!! As a 62 year old woman I took my grandchild on a surprise shopping spee (wich we came from the suburbs for). She was so exited and picked up a crap load of stuff to try on, as soon as we entered the store we got greated coldly. Not even a foot into the store the security guard yelled at me because I had a soda in my hand even tho I'M A TYPE 1 DYABETYC, AND NEED IT TO KEEP MY BLOOD SUGAR STABLE! I told him that but apparently no one cares. And apparently they have everything in one size. They are promoting malnurishment, anorexia, eating disorders and unhealthy body images in girls. Because everything is so FLIPING TINY. The shorts are horrendous, shirts are tight as hell. But the worst thing about it is that the GOD DAM FITTING ROOMS WERE CLOSED. The staff didnt tell me they full blown screamed at me for asking were my grand child could try on the clothes she picked. My daughter fits their very narrow mold and wanted to go there, but my fat, disabled self was not acceptable to them. I dared to sit to wait for my daughter to come out of the dressing room. I carefully chose a place where there were 3 open slots or so where clothes might go, so I would not disturb anything. I was told very rudely, "You can't sit there!" Long story short it spiraled into a shouting match, which ended with "So you have nowhere for disabled people to sit?" "Nope." "So you don't want the business of disabled people?" "No." And I left at that. She followed us out the whole way, crossing her arms and glaring. Also, their elevator light was out... the only light in the elevator, so it was pitch black. The terrible state of the handwritten sign on the door about the light made it clear that this had been an issue for some time and was not a priority for them to fix. This is the most ridiculous store I've ever been to. Got here with my niece 10 mins before it opened. We were the first ones here. Doors open and we let people go ahead of us to be kind. Then security tells us only 20 people at a time and we had to stand in the rain for 30 minutes waiting for people to leave. We drove 2 1/2 hours from Madison to get here. There is plenty of space in the store for more people. This is the most absurd process I have ever seen. Never ever ever going here again. Shop online. Not worth the time, effort, and aggravation. Once inside, the staff is rude and keep telling you to move and not to stand wherever you're standing. One of the worst shopping experiences I've had. The employees are chill and seem patient and nice, although it may be because I look like a white teenage girl. Haven't experienced any lines outside the store. Went in to look for clothes and dropped a few things on the ground. They may have laughed, I was embarrassed, but one girl came up and said she had it. The dressing room policy is stricter than I've heard it was before-- no bags inside, and no bras or underwear. I'm assuming because of shoplifting issues. I love the clothes they sell here, they can be pricey for such small basic items but I like looking around. It seems like a nice place to work at. I wish fitting room policies were less strict because I wanted to try on a bra since I didn't know how small it would be and didn't want to pay $20 for a small piece of fabric if it wouldn't fit. read more

This place is absolute trash. I visited here for the first time today and I highly regret doing so. The staff was fine, but there was a white woman with her husband and two children who were literally taking over the store and just standing in spots where other customers were trying to shop as well. Very inconsiderate. I went to the fitting room and asked the mom if she was in line, because again, she was taking up so much space with no regard to other people. She haughtily told me that she is waiting for her daughter, not indicating which room her daughter is in. I tried to go into a room and she literally SCREAMED "I just told you my daughter is in there - are you deaf!" I was absolutely stunned. She then went on to call me a teenager / 20 year old (actually a huge compliment because I am much older than that lol) who is acting like I know everything when I know nothing. The details are fuzzy because I was honestly in shock. But she was so so abrasive and at that point I was done with the store so put the clothes down and left. On my way out, once again, her and her family were crowding the entrance and I had to wait until they were in the mood to budge so I could get the fuck out of there. When going to check out they literally just stare at you waiting at the counter like "are you serious? You're making me work?" It feels like a mean girl clique in there! Also note during covid there will be a long line no matter the time of the day. This is understandable because the store is tiny. But after waiting in line for an hour, it would be nice to see a smiling face. I've been here twice and the workers were the same both times. First of all it is clear that this store hires on looks and not, on service qualities, the girls are only talking about their nose rings the whole time, and talking badly about past customers, that is definitely not professional in my book. I get the brand itself is pretty controversial but what I don't get is why people leave bad reviews based on things that the employees don't have any control over. If you don't like how cramped and busy it gets in there then maybe don't go in on their busiest days aka Fridays, and Saturdays (of course that's when all the rude teen girls shopping will be in) I went in on a week day during what would be the typical school hours and the store was actually peaceful! I might be an outlier in that I think the staff are really nice for a Brandy store. They were sweet in my experience, even when really busy. I was really pleasantly surprised by that too, after visiting their stores in NYC and LA where the employees were just pretty rude. There is usually something good here, although in recent times I've seen the selection is a lot more tops/hoodies/sweaters than bottoms. The clothes are good quality for the price point. The worst part about shopping here is probably the other customers. It gets really crowded and it's a mix of mostly rude teen girls then sometimes I'll see parents who can't control their small kids who try to get into the fitting rooms which is kind of anxiety inducing. I would recommend coming here at an off time if at all possible, like during the week, weekends are very crowded. Be prepared to wait forever to try stuff on if you go on a weekend especially. I'm happy to have a store here since I love their clothes but there are a couple inconveniences to be aware of. read more

The saying, "One size fits all," is not only inaccurate, but it's also imprudent. Our uniqueness and differences are what make humans perfect and beautiful. Brandy Melville causes girls all over the country to find imperfections in themselves. It makes us feel like we need to become something other than ourselves to fit this brand's standards and the waist of the tiny jeans. We need to stop satisfying Silvio Marsan and the generations that will carry on this discouraging brand and invest in clothing that will fit our bodies because that's what clothing is supposed to do. Wish I could give this store -10 stars. The girls that work here are children and the rudest, most entitled people ever. Today it was pouring rain and about 15 of us were waiting in line for the store. The workers did not let ONE person in for over 45 minutes (remind you it was pouring and 45 degrees). When we would ask if they were taking people they would not give us straight answers and then LOCKED the door so no one else could go in and ask questions WHILE IT WAS RAINING! We understand that it's COVID and it needs to be limited people, but it was ridiculous. The store was NOT full. We asked again (by knocking 20 times) and the rude girl said again, they were not taking anyone. I told her she should make an announcement to the 15 people waiting in the pouring rain.
