I recently visited Zanata in Rockwall, Texas for the first time, and it was a very enjoyable experience. It's the kind of place that immediately feels relaxing and inviting. I had ordered the pizza and blue crab dip, and I'm glad I did. It was flavorful and well cooked. The crust had a great texture, and everything came together nicely. I also tried one of their desserts the banana foster , which was a great way to finish the meal. The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. again.

Came here for dinner on Friday after work. It's a small restaurant in downtown Rockwall. There was a 45 min wait around 5:20, so I recommend going early. Service was a little slow, but they were working fast for the crowd. No one working was just standing around. We got lucky and got to sit at the bar. We tried the bruschetta board was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the Gorgonzola, but only because I don't care for blue cheese, but the Mozzarella and Brie were great. I love the toppings on them. Pork chop was cooked perfectly and I loved the broccolini. Can we talk about the lobster risotto? Oh my. SO RICH and savory. The regulars, who come there often, that we spoke with were super friendly. The couple next to us shared that on Tuesday's they have a special for wine, pizza, and salad for $30. We will definitely go back.

I went for the steak. My date went for the pizza. We were both satisfied. The steak was well cooked, a nice medium well. It had a nice sear and was lightly seasoned. However, and I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, it was topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes. I would have liked something green (something firm like fresh green beans, or grilled asparagus) on my plate, though. The pizza was pretty good. The crust was tasty but I did think the pepperoni was a tad too salty. My date finished the whole thing. I haven't seen her eat that much (relatively) since she was a little girl. The restaurant has the potential to be loud but they've added some baffles in the ceiling. Our fellow diners weren't too crazy, though and the noise level was comfortable. Our server Rachel was friendly and attentive.

I came back with a small group, and we really enjoyed our dinner! I tried the seafood special: scallops with spaghetti squash and sugar snap peas in a basil sauce. It was amazing!

This is exactly where she placed it on table with my arm exactly there. I immediately took a picture.

No flavor in food. Waitress didn't warn me dish was super hot, now I have 2 burn marks on my fingertips that will now puss up. And then asking for steak knife so I can cut into the chicken, she placed the tip of it right at my wrist. Unbelievable.

Love the evening vibe. The blue claw crab appetizer dip was sweet and yummy. Good for sharing with 2-3 people. The pizza was a hit. I ordered the wood roasted salmon.. simple and tasty. My husband had the pork chop which he loved. My daughter had the pumpkin ravioli which she also enjoyed. The wine selection is nice and the house wine was a great price for a quality glass. Staff is attentive. Family oriented and in a nice quaint tower center area with a few shops. Solid choice with creative food selections.

Always great food, no matter you order. A bonus is the staff doesn't give the evil eye when ordering drinks at 1140a. Ambience is warm and comfortable . Ordered a couple pizzas. Both were terrific. The wood burning oven makes a huge difference for pizza.

Went here for lunch with my daughter. We ordered the blue crab dip which I had before. It was delicious. I had the meatball sandwich and it was yummy. The only disappointment was the ham & cheese which was suppose to be toasted and was not. We split the meatball sandwich which was plenty. read more

Busy busy busy. We came at 5:15 on a Saturday evening and the wait was 20 minutes. Ok. No problem. Ordered bread and tomato soap for appetizers, two things already ready already in the back. They came out in 20 minutes. Strike one. I would have ordered a beer or two, but the waiter never came back to talk to us. He dropped off the appetizers but we never had a chance to say anything to him. Strike two. Our pizza and steak took another 35 minutes to appear. Strike 3. I get it. I've been a waiter. Things get busy. But at some point, you gotta at least spend a couple of minutes talking to your customers. Pros The tomato basil soup was good. The steak Diane was very good. Cons The wait The inattentive service The "fresh ciabatta" appetizer was small and meh The roasted chickenpizza (red grapes, gorgonzola, fontina, caramelized onions) was meh. Zanata has great wood-fire pizzas, but it excels at entrees. The sea bass and salmon are not only visually stunning, but cooked and seasoned to perfection. My companion and I were pleasantly surprised, having been to Zanata before, but only for the pies. Perfect to split, leaving you enough room in both your stomach AND your wallet for dessert. Speaking of pie (and dessert), all of the desserts that we saw pass us by looked amazing, but I can only personally vouch for the coconut creme, which may be the best I've had. Graham cracker crust, and beautifully toasted coconut throughout. Just the right balance of crust, creme and coconut. Not a great wine selection, but there seem to be a lot of beers to choose from. We are regulars from here on out, at least until we've tried each and every entree on the menu. :) read more

I'm a pizza snob and love good pizza. I prefer pizza baked in a wood fired pizza oven, with a homemade dough, thin and crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. This place does it right. We had the pepperoni pizza and one called the Mighty Quinn. Both were delicious. We sat at the bar and ate their appetizer meatballs while we waited for our pizza. They were yummy too. My husband loved the marinara sauce. We took our pizza to-go, so can't say much about the service except we were greeted exceptionally fast, got menus and waters right away, and watched one particular waitress moving quickly, efficiently and commanding the room. All their service staff seemed excellent. I recommend highly. read more

Had a really nice time during my visit to Rockwall. A local to the area suggested Zanata and I'm glad they did. It was the perfect send off to my weekend. The location is tucked away in a beautiful shopping area. The inside is super cozy. Nice enough to host a girls night and frIendly enough to bring the family. The options are plentiful and the food comes out smelling great! The taste was even better. I'm sad we didn't come sooner. I'll definitely be stopping by the next time I visit read more

Consistently one of the best Italian places to go. I have lived in NYC, New Haven, and Chicago. Some of the best Italian food ever and this is right up there. It's always packed because it's so good! I recommend the caprice salad and Sunday roasted chicken for your first visit. Don't go if you don't want to get addicted. Enjoy, we love it! read more

Normally great food, but tonight not good at all. Ordered the pork chop, first brought it out and outside burnt, told waitress Crystal, she took it back to the cook and brought another which this time was raw. Sent that back & over cooked again. Couldn't eat it & Crystal didnt seem to care one way or another. The nice manager made it correct & took the entree off. read more

What a great little restaurant! Great food and better service! I had the steak salad. Steak cooked to perfection. Salad not overly dressed and the little pop of pepper made it memorable. Soooo good! First off, great friendly service. Second, very comfortable atmosphere with both bar seating and tables. The bruschetta salad was awesome and my chicken fettuccine with prosciutto and asparagus was perfect. Topped it off with a delicious pumpkin praline cheesecake (fresh made, not factory thawed out) and washed it all down with some delicious beer. My wife and I love grilled salmon and we do not like to overpay for it. Some restaurants in Rockwall Harbor now charge $25 for a salmon dinner which we believe is severely overpriced, like here, so we did not eat there. We found a great place called Doddie's that offered a generous portion of Salmon, salad, and roasted veggies that was delicious! It was our first time there and we will be back. Only the freezing AC was a drawback there. read more

Went to celebrate my birthday last night. This was my 5-6 time eating there. Service was impeccable. Drinks flowed, food was fast and hot. The food was actually 5 star, from the pizza and gourmet salads to the fancy apps and main dishes. The prices are fair! The only struggle is that half of Rockwall wants to eat there too. So make a reservation or go early. You will love it. read more

And when you go into the restaurant, there comfy books lined up along the wall, more table and chairs in the middle, and a touch of home with couches and table in front of the bar. And I don't want o miss out in the description of the restrooms - because they are something to see. A sliding door for the restrooms are books that have been arranged so you feel like you're in a somewhat magical feeder with. Oils arranged in fascinating shapes. They also have a separate room for events and meets - and wow! It's gorgeous too! It truly made me want to host an event here just to experience this room. The food is delicious and the waitstaff are great at making you feel comfortable and welcome. This might have been my first time in this restaurant, but it's just the start of many visits here.

I received a $50 gift card as a Christmas present. We went back to Zanata on Friday April 3rd 2015. We had a minimal wait time. We were seated and quickly provided with service. I don't remember our server's name. We ordered the hummus and pimento cheese appetizer as well as a Caesar salad to share as well. The appetizer was delicious. The homemade bread is to die for. The salad was very large and could be shared by more than 2 guests. I had a beer and she had a wine. I ordered the Sea Bass and she had the Salmon. Both were delicious and we couldn't finish either. We were too full to try the desserts. Our server boxed up our leftovers and they were just as good the next day! We'll be back once again as this changed our unfavorable remarks from our last visit. read more

Great place. Moved to Rockwall 5 years ago and it has become one of our favorite places. Blue crab dip is a standard order. Our servers have always been on top of everything with great working knowledge of the menu items as well as the specials. The crew working the ovens work hard and it is well appreciated! Only one complaint. Recently took the lamb chops off the menu. Took my wife there the other night and was a huge let down for her. I didn't get lucky that night. Let down for me. Bring back the chops!! From the pizza to the Sea Bass you can't go wrong. read more

Great atmosphere and food is awesome. They have a great beer selection and the cocktails are amazing. The "Za" Mule is my favorite. The pizza is made fresh and leaves you satisfied! But don't shy away from the rest of the menu. The Sour cherry sea bass is to die for. I would recommend this place without hesitation. First visit...food and drink were on point! Crab dip was a perfect start and not too heavy. Go with the flat bread for dipping! Tequila Apple Fizz was delicious, not too sweet! Service was a tiny bit slow, but it was friendly. Steak Diane was tender, juicy, full of flavor and was such a perfect medium-rare that it made my insides tingle! I actually love this place. Pizza and wine for a Saturday date-night can't be beat. Went with a friend earlier this week though and had the friend green tomato sandwich. Not good. Bread was hard and tough, the proscuitto was chewy and I'm not sure what was going on with the fried green tomatoes themselves, but it was not good at all. Wife and I stopped there Saturday night. It was about an hour wait but we decided to stick it out. We were happy we did!! The Curried Scallops and Shrimp were out of this world. The John Dory fish special was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Finished with the Bananas Foster...unbelievable. It's not on the menu but just ask the server. Service was perfect and friendly. Overall if you're living in Rockwall this will always be a hometown favorite. The steak is extremely flavorful and the crab cake will change your life. If you go early enough you shouldn't have a problem getting in, with the place being a little smaller and with so many people wanting to eat it can be a lengthy wait. read more

Great restaurant in old Rockwall town center. Wood Fired Pizza is delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Street Parking seems a bit tricky, but there are lots in the area walking distance. Will definitely be back to try some of the other entree items. read more
