Blue crab dip was fantastic! Place was super busy and the wait was really long. Pizza was yummy, vibe was good, servers were nice.

A few things I try to keep in mind right now: Many restaurants are short-staffed, servers overworked/underpaid, and we're a few days before Christmas. So, I am aiming to give as much grace as possible for what is probably more of a "could've been better" experience. The kind host gave us an estimate of 30-45 minutes to get a table. We ended up seated an hour and a half later. It took another 15-20 minutes for our server to arrive to take a drink order, and we ordered some waters and an appetizer. Almost 30 minutes later, our appetizer arrived. It was fairly busy--I totally get it, and the dish was to die for. Absolutely delicious. At some point along the way, they took our order, though in hindsight we probably could've stopped at an appetizer to free up a table and get back on the road. Still, much later, our order arrived...it was also delicious--meatball lasagna and a pizza. We weren't as hungry after a lot of water, the appetizer, and the time that ticked away. We checked in around 5pm and left "fat and happy" by 8:45pm. I'd give it five stars for taste, but a few things made it less than "great." It was far too loud, though I realize I sound like my dad. Still, we couldn't hear one another talk, nor could we clearly understand the server. It's probably a great spot for a guy's night out, or a gal's, but maybe not the best spot for a romantic date night. We were seated next to a spot where the servers would gather or drop off things, and one server scared the mess out of us every time they'd slam a stack of menus or plates down. Again, wouldn't care if I was out with the guys, but it certainly didn't make the date night more enjoyable. 15-20 minutes passed after we'd finished eating and our server was nowhere to be found. It was busy, I get it, so I went to the host-stand to see if they could grab a to-go box and our bill...that sped things up a bit, but kinda added stress to the less-than-relaxing night out with my bride. We'll definitely try it again and I suspect end up with 4 or 5 stars on a better night, but tonight was not that night. read more

Friends took us to Zanatas. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I soon found out that it is a terrific Italian restaurant. My wife and I decided to split the strawberry salad. It was wonderfully delicious. Wish I had ordered the entire salad myself! I opted for grilled salmon. Not exactly an Italian dish, but I had a taste for salmon. It was perfectly cooked and tasted great. My friend was raving about how wonderful the fettuccine alfredo was and let me sample it. It really did taste good! On my next visit I will order that dish! Service was great and we never felt rushed, even after we finished our dinners and just wanted to relax and enjoy our wine. read more

On a Saturday evening, it was crowded but there are seats inside and outside and the wait was pleasant and delightfully less time than they told us. We started with the bruschetta which is an all time favorite. The 3 different cheeses and toppings are just awesome. This time we ordered the shrimp and grits and I have tried these all up and down the coast - and by far these were the very very best ever anywhere. Lots of large shrimp and a wonderful, just beautifully flavored and a tad spicy sauce over perfect grits. Service is very good and tho always crowded an overall great experience. read more

The waitlist experience was great! We were able to sit and listen to live music while we waited. Upon being seated, we were quickly greeted. My husband ordered salmon and Caprese salad, I got pizza with cheese and house sausage and my 13 year old with the very limited palate got tomato soup and bread. We have heard amazing things and were very hopeful. My rating is based on the food and what I think happened as opposed to the service we actually received throughout most of our meal. As the food came out at a decent rate for a busy Saturday night we discovered there was a misunderstanding about the toppings on the pizza. I ordered a cheese and house sausage pizza. I received a house pizza with sausage which is quite different. As you would expect, the server immediately returned the pizza to the kitchen and to get a new one. I believe at this point the server was hesitant to come back to our table for whatever reason. We went completely unattended to the point that I had to ask another server to refill our water. I'm not sure why we dropped off the servers radar but it was definitely disappointing. I'm not letting that ruin the experience for us though. The food was great. The pizza alone will bring me back. Once we finished the food while not "on it" but more available the server offered a free dessert for the pizza misunderstanding. Definitely a nice gesture that we took advantage of but good service throughout our meal would have sufficed. We will go back because the food is that good. read more

Zanata is my favorite restaurant in Rockwall consistently delicious and the atmosphere is perfect! Drove into Rockwall all the way from North Carolina to pick up my mom to head south for Christmas and there was no doubt we would go to Zanata for dinner. As always the food did not disappoint! My husband and I shared a " Z" salad and each ordered mussels for our main. Mom enjoyed the always delicious tomato basil soup! Mussels were fresh and the sauce is delicious dipped up with the chunk of bread alongside. After moving from Texas to N. C. 6 years ago I can say one place I miss is Zanata. Owners are friendly and doing a killer job! I'll look forward to my next visit to Rockwall and Zanata! Go-you won't be sorry! read more

We waited about 45 mins! Celebrating our anniversary. This better be good right?! Well it was absolutely worth it and our new favorite place. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed. Good sign. Ordered a macho libre cocktail and it was legit. Stiff drink with great flavor. Loved it! For appetizer had the NY white pizza. Damn pizza was so good!!! Let's go!!! Entree - ribeye. Despite ordering medium and it being well done the damn thing was still amazingly great! We finished with bananas foster. What can I say it was unbelievably delicious!! Christian our waiter was great. Not overly present but attentive enough to ensure we had everything we needed while still allowing for uninterrupted conversation. This place is overrated, we went to celebrate my wife's b-day and it was a big letdown, the server took forever to get the drinks and take our order, and after 1 hr of waiting, the server said he forgot to place the order. Sunday Roasted Chicken was my pick: 1/4 chicken, cranberry stuffing, on a bed of Risotto, topped with artichokes & Spanish chorizo slices, drizzle of balsamic dressing. The chicken was way over-done, actually burnt on top... and balsamic drizzle was a hurricane. I had the best experience at Zonata last night. My bf and I went to have dinner and ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender (Sidney) was excellent and even fixed us up when we accidentally broke a wine glass. We started with the meatballs which were divine. They had a wonderful crust on the outside and had so much flavor inside that they brought the whole dish to new heights. For our entrees, my bf had the pork chop with mac n cheese while I had the sea bass with brussel sprouts. Both were out of this world. It was so neat to see how the chefs cooked with the wood fired brick ovens and their expertise was on point. We didn't have room for dessert, but if their desserts are anything like their appetizers and main dishes, we will be in for a treat on our return trip. read more

what are the best restaurants in DFW. It's just over the bridge in Downtown Rockwall get there early. Because parking can sometimes be a problem. They take reservations for parties over six. I go here about once a month with friends. Usually a party of 10 to 12 they are always able to accommodate us. They have weekly specials I've never been disappointed. This restaurant is very gluten-free friendly. If it's not already gluten-free, they were usually make adjustments. read more

Just moved to the area and was hoping to find a new "favorite" place since my girlfriend and I eat out pretty often. I can easily say, this is IT for us. It was busy and we were concerned about "1st come, 1st served" with a 5yr. old but they seated us right away. Super nice waitress and made us feel at home instantly. Food was fabulous; steamed mussels were the best I have ever had. NOTE! Must order the humus and baked bread. The bread crust was perfectly crispy yet tender. Moved to town 10 months ago and have been all over DFW trying to experience all the great food and atmospheres and have missed this gem in our back yard. So here's our lunch rundown: Mussels - will be back frequently for these. Probably the best I have had in the USA. Pizza - had the New York white pie. I had others on the top of my list but made the wife happy with this order. Wasn't disappointed! Can't wait to try the others that sounded so good.
