I was excited to try this place, and it made a great first impression -- they were ready for our reservation as soon as we walked in, and the space looked really nice. We were seated in the back room, which was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, there were a couple of gnats flying around our table. I mentioned it to our server, but they didn't seem too concerned. As you can see from the photo, one even landed on my plate, which was disappointing and took away from the overall experience. That said, the food was good and so was the service otherwise. My hubs and I booked reservations for New Year's Eve to try something new. I was a little surprised when I had to put a $50 deposit down to make reservations, but I did it. So, we show up at the Harbor. Surprisingly, it wasn't as busy as normal, which was nice. We valeted as we knew the restaurant would validate the parking. We were seated quickly. It didn't appear to be that busy. There was a party of 8 in the room we were in, other tables just had 2-4ish. The restaurant is nice and where we sat does face the lake. We couldn't see it since it was dark, but we knew it was there. The waitress greeted us and said the water would be right behind her. They weren't. We waited at least 10 minutes for a drink, and we only had Diet Coke and water. It always surprises me when alcohol comes so much faster but whatever. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. Scott got the salmon and I got a filet. They have shareable sides but his came with a side so I was at a loss on what to do. I wished they had a smaller option for when it's only one person that needs a side but likes to try things. I ordered the twice baked potato and Brussels sprouts. While we wait for our food, they brought some sourdough bread, which was delicious. This was at least 25 minutes in so we weren't sure why it took that long, but again, it was delicious bread. Our food was good. The steak actually comes on some mashed potatoes. While it's not a lot, it was plenty for me with the Brussel sprouts I'd ordered and the appetizer. So, I wished I hadn't spent $15 on a baked potato because I just couldn't eat it all. We did take a bite of it to try it and it was good. The filet was cooked well and it tasted really good. Scott enjoyed his as well. So, the food was good. It all had a nice flavor. It was just small things on how you order and if the menu would've said "filet on a smear of mashed", I would've been a little happier to know what I was getting. I might have tried a different side. We did get the death by chocolate cake to go. It was really good, not too sweet or rich. It came with a cherry compote that balanced it perfectly. This and the bread were my favorite! Our waitress was super nice. One tip would be for the tablecloths to be ironed or something. These were so wrinkled our glass almost fell over. I dont normally care but this is supposed to be an elevated dining. I mean, I paid $50 just to be there. They did credit the $50 to the bill. However, be aware, I don't know if this was just for NYE but the bill came with a 20% tip already included. I knew that already though and I would've tipped that anyways. But if you aren't aware and tip and extra 20%, you might be upset. Another thing we were surprised by is they charged a credit card fee. I don't see many nice restaurants doing that. So, we were a little surprised. This has been long but I wanted everyone to know some of the stuff I wish I had known. Again, everyone was really nice but I doubt we'll go back. I had a very disappointing experience with SEAR Steakhouse before I even arrived. After making a reservation, the restaurant called to confirm it--but the interaction quickly became frustrating. The staff member repeatedly tried to correct me in a way that felt dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of resolving the confusion, the conversation escalated, and ultimately the woman I was speaking with hung up on me. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. First impressions matter, and this interaction alone makes me question whether I would want to dine here at all. I hope management addresses how reservation calls are handled, because this was far from a welcoming experience. read more

We have only been to the lounge..lovely ambiance with the 360 glass views of the lake and promenade. Old Fashioned is the bartenders signature .. very good.We order the pork chop (over mashed potatoes) and a side (asparagus or other) and share!! Then we get to have dessert too! There was good and bad to our visit. On the positive side, the steaks were tender and well prepared. On the negative side there were many shortcomings. Our table was so close to the next table that I was bumped five times by passing wait staff. The last time, the waitress managed to catch my purse strap with the pens in her apron pocket and walked a few steps with my purse in tow. My red snapper plate was attractive, and the fish was prepared well, but I couldn't eat most of it because they had plated the food atop a puddle of olive oil. The olive oil drowned out the flavors of the gnocchi, vegetables and fish. When I told the manager and wait staff, there was no correction to the problem. Wine was plopped on the table with no query as to satisfaction. White wine was served in a red wine glass, salad forks were not picked up when table knives were exchanged for steak knives, and i was also given a steak knife even though I wasn't eating steak. It was clear that the wait staff didn't know-how to properly serve in an upscale restaurant. Finally, none of these would be insurmountable problems in a modestly priced venue, but at these upper end prices, services and all aspects of the dining experience should be exceptional. Never have I ever: gone to a restaurant where EVERYONE cleared their plate. We went to Sears with our close friends in Texas to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I had the scallops which were delicious and well cooked. They were not overcooked at all. We ordered Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and Lobster Mac n' Cheese as Shareables for the table. Everything was delicious! I will say that my cocktail (Peach Martini) was way too sweet and could have used a bit of seltzer water, but it was served in a really unique martini glass which kept it ice cold. Last but not least, the bathroom was a VIBE: 10/10. It had a fireplace, awesome lightening and a full body mirror. They even had lipgloss samples. I was there for a double date night with my best friend and our daughters. From the time I sat down to the time we left it was an hour and a half, and they had to box up our food to go. It had taken so long. The first 20 minutes was spent waiting for our drinks and everything was so spaced out and took too long that we missed "the window" for our young daughters to experience a fancy dinner. Unfortunately, after an hour and a half we had to take our food to go, which I was not a fan of spending $60 on a steak to eat it at room temperature 20 minutes later at the house. Total bill for the four of us was $367 before tip. To apologize they took $125 off the bill. It was a nice gesture, but when we got home, we were missing a couple of the items. One was a sauce topper for my steak, so that was disappointing. Not a fan at all especially at this price point. I would not recommend dining here. I believe it was a combination of an extremely slow kitchen, lack of management working, and everything was followed up with an excuse. read more

But don't forget your sunglasses if the sun is still out because you will in fact be blinded. The food menu here is a very limited offering of what you can get inside the restaurant. We ordered the steak wonton tacos and the fried ravioli. They were fine, but not worth $16 and $18 to me. The service out here really depends on how busy it is, since I've only ever seen one person running the bar inside and also checking on the people outside. We walked in and immediately noticed a dress code is not enforced as there were multiple diners casually dressed to include men wearing baseball hats. -Oysters Rockefeller tasted good but we did have to ask for salt. -Scallop entree only comes with 3 scallops. A bit of a rip off for its $44 entree price tag. -Cream corn was good, just enough for two to share. -Mac n cheese with the additional $ to make it Lobster Mac was a total rip off as there were only a few pieces of lobster the size of a pencil eraser. We brought it to management's attention and he offered to make a new one but we were done at that point and had it removed. Our server also didn't appear to be very experienced and could use some refinement and training. As was noted in previous reviews, the restaurant's fine dining reach exceeds its grasp. Much of the reason for this lies front of house. From the second you walk in the door, the cheesy red satin tie uniforms are off-putting. This is reinforced by the silk roses in dirty glass bud vases. If you prefer salt & pepper in the table you won't find it here. The martini glass served was coated in a black dip of some sort. A significant portion of that black covering was scraped off the base of the glass. It was a very cheap appearance that could have been avoided by simply using a clear glass. Our calamari itself was tasty. However, the sweet chili sauce was typical of jarred sauce served at 2 star restaurants and it could have used a citrus squeeze of some sort. The server delivering the dish made no note we had no appetizer plates. Then our waiter gave his nod of approval as he delivered our steak knives, also not noting the absence of appetizer plates. This leads me to believe it is customary to expect guests to eat apps from the main serving plate. As our server cleared our appetizer, he only cleaned bread crumbs from one side of the table with his crumb sweeper. Fortunately, our salads were fresh & flavorful. Our filets were high quality meat seasoned and cooked spot-on. The butter poached lobster was also tender. Although the steaks were accompanied by a mashed potato smear, the plates would have benefited from a fresh element on the plate. Vegetable sides are available but our party has different preferences so that would result in a lot of food waste. It would be preferential to have a composed plate at that price point. Overall, the food was good but I don't think it makes up for the service deficits at that price point, especially since there are no composed plates. read more

I went to sear with my son to try this new restaurant in Rockwall. Rockwall really lacks a robust fine dining scene so I was excited to try this new addition to the harbor. Taking a little to a nice restaurant changes the vibe and I will plan to go back with my wife as they did a great job of creating a Roma tic atmosphere. First off, this restaurant has the most romantic ambiance in Rockwall for a restaurant. From the acoustic guitar player to the left as you come in, to the feel of the bar, to the faux fireplace and the overall ambiance, this place is made for date night. I think it is also remarkable to speak to the staff. I am not always impressed with service in Rockwall, but many staff members were welcoming and attended to us during the dinner. Service is definitely a plus here and makes me hopeful that they will address a few of the things I think they will need to address to be successful here. And wow, that's a lot before O even speak to their food so... I started off with crab cakes. They were very good and the shallots gave a nice texture and flavor. Great start and I recommend them. I had the hanger steak and my son had the chicken dish (they don't have a children's menu but said they will be adding one). The steak was a little over cooked as I asked for medium and it was closer to med-well. It was good not great and had flavor but I would definitely ask for medium rare next time. I'll chalk that up to kitchen still learning and they did offer to send another out. The chicken was excellent. The herbes de Provence gave a great flavor to the meat and the sauce (on the side for the little) rounded out the flavor. This was a winner in my book. I'll try a steak on my next visit, but I was a little turned off that not all steaks are prime and they are not dry aged. For the prices, they need to have something that sets them apart from the Texas Roadhouse and other steaks in town. I see this as a price and expectation thing. If you are charging more than Pappas or other top steakhouses 30 minutes away you have to have something that justifies the price. The manager did say that the chef is looking at partnerships with local farms and ranches and that is intriguing. They also said that they are reworking their wine list. They have a great little wine room displayed as you walk in and it would be great to have a good wine selection locally. I wasn't super impressed with the selection and diversity in the list but was more turned off by the prices. The multiples were high with some 4-10x retail. I love 2x and expect about 2.5-3 so the prices need to adjust to move volume. On the other hand, I was happy to see their selection of bubbles by the glass. They also have raw oysters (didn't try them, that's my wife's thing) and I think they could have something going there with an oyster bar, bubbles and live music for happy hours. They seem committed to finding the right combination here, have a local owner, staff that cares, and a great location. We need an establishment like this here so I'm very hopeful that they are successful. I left happy I went and have the feedback to hopefully help them as they adjust before their grand opening. The bartender (there were 3 behind the bar talking took about 5 minutes for someone to ask me if I wanted something. Oh and he didn't even come over and ask me, he was squatting down in front of a cooler looking for something. I felt like I was bothering him) when I told him what I wanted he said are you waiting for someone? I can't serve you 2 drinks it's against the law. My husband arrived before our drinks did. The food and portion size was awful 2 of us (party of 9)ordered the duck neither of us ate it. They forgot the birthday persons drink and food. 7:30 on a Friday they ran out of backed potatoes. Decided to try Sear for Valentine's Day since we always saw it when coming to the harbor. The food that was served (seared salmon w/ grits, filet mignon w/ mashed potatoes) were excellent. Fish isn't very difficult to cook, but the grits were LOVELY. The misses couldn't stop talking about the steak. Dessert we had the chocolate ganache and crème brûlée which were only okay. The service was honestly pretty bad, but I guess the worse the service the better the food. Loved the decor and ambience of the restaurant. Been here a few times now and have enjoyed every visit. I have been with a party of 2 and a party of 10. Service has always been attentive and the flow of food from the kitchen has been timely. The restaurants decor is just like you would find at a high-end restaurant in Dallas. We had a vegan in our party one time and they were super accommodating and the food was great. I always start with a wedge salad which I think is one of the best around town. I like their Caesars Salad as well. I have had the Filet, Scallops, NY Strip, Sea Bass and Salmon and have enjoyed all of them. Also try the 360 bar, they have a nice outdoor seating area and te drinks are good. read more

Honestly I had a very good fillet mignon. We sat with a table of 4 and here's my comments from both being a butcher and coming from food service. A lady and myself both ordered fillets. I'll start off with, you should never take an un equally size portions to the same table of the same people. The larger cut was given to the lady, where, as the smaller portion was given to the gentleman, any good server should know to never do that. I had mashed potatoes with mine, but it turned out to be approximately 2 tablespoons pulled out in a smear. The lady received the same amount of mashed potatoes, but also received a 6 to 8 ounce portion of cream corn. I'll just say that it was a very well cooked steak but the portions and the smear of potatoes just did not fully complement the meal and having to add on so many things to have a well-rounded plate just isn't my cup of tea. read more

Our first visit to Sear. Everything was "okay" but not fabulous, as their pricing indicated it should be. We frequent many fine dining establishments in Dallas/Fort Worth. Sear deserves some credit for providing a fine dining experience outside of the Uptown/Downtown Dallas area, saving people living in suburbs east of Dallas a longer drive, but I don't feel it was quite up to par with many Dallas area establishments considering they seem to be just as pricy. Our wedge salad looked like it was a tiny bit aged as the lettuce ends were turning dark, they were sold out of the Oysters Rockefeller, and the bar was a bit slow as well. I don't want to dump on them. It wasn't a bad experience at all, just not up to par with competitive steakhouses another twenty minutes west. read more

My husband and I came for dinner a few weeks ago and it was our first time dining here but it won't be our last. Everything was just fabulous. We both had the crab cakes for an appetizer and we both ordered filet mignon. Our steaks were some of the most tender we have ever eaten and the flavor was delicious. The staff could not have been better and the owner even came by to introduce herself. Only regret is that we don't live in the area and can't dine here more often. We will definitely be back. A group of us just had dinner here and overall it was positive. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. He talked up how the cuts of meat were true prime and the chef only seasons with salt, pepper and butter. My wife and I split the Delmonico (16oz) and unfortunately, it was caked in pepper. I ended up scraping the top off because all I could taste was pepper. The frites were good, mushrooms as well. I enjoyed the lobster bisque but it was too pungent for my wife. The wedge salad was pretty puny in my opinion, but I'm not a fan of it and others ordered it. Given that ice berg is the cheapest lettuce you can buy, i thought the portions were small. Asparagus was good, Mac and cheese too. We skipped dessert but they were tempting. read more

Food was plated beautifully, but was a little bland. I would definitely go back again, but mostly because it's a convenient walk from our condo. I had the salmon and wish I would have taken a picture before digging in, it really was beautifully plated! Service was good and prompt, but I feel like they were bored at times by the way they were just standing around watching you eat. It was a little uncomfortable. The restaurant itself it beautiful and warm, right on the corner of the harbor with excellent views. Rockwall's gem, so I don't think they'll have an issue drawing crowds. read more

Beautifully elegant restaurant. Beautiful people all around. Enter the reception area, there's a bar/lounge on your left complete with a guitar playing troubadour. Asked for a glass of white Zinfandel, sorry, no white Zin, settled for 3 Crown and 7 and an old fashion , prices are what you would expect at a high end restaurant, with tip $80 . Dinner menu is all prime steaks as I recall. They do have a burger on the menu which two of my party had and loved. My son had an 8oz filet and my other son had a ribeye, I had lamb chops. Everything was perfectly cooked med rare. All sides are ala carte as are different sauces that you can order. This is a new restaurant and has a few kinks currently being worked out. No salt or pepper on the table, bus person took all my silverware, no sweet tea, they offer sugar however, only after I got home did I realize the sauce that I ordered never came,we were charged for it though. The spacing of the sides was odd in that they arrived well after everyone had started eating their entree because we didn't want them to get cold. The sides were all delicious especially the twice baked potato just the timing for it to arrive was off. All in all we're glad we went and will return for future special occasions.
