Hole in the wall restaurant in Orange. Has ample parking. Has only 2 tables that would accommodate a party larger than 4. Since they're still relatively new, they don't have a lot of staff yet, which makes service a little slow. The food is delicious and is great for sharing. I would highly recommend the pork & shrimp with chive dumplings, beef noodle soup, pan fried pork dumplings and juicy pork dumplings. The pork & shrimp wonton in chili sauce is good but needs more kick and chili. The sauce looks pale. I will be back soon! Signature Beef Noodle - Their most popular item is the signature beef noodle soup (handmade daily). The broth has a savory kick that's an umami dream. It may have too much kick for those sensitive to salt, but for me - this dish is chef's kiss. With long chewy noodles and surprisingly very tender and generous portions of meat, this dish is true comfort food. Pan Fried Buns - highly recommended! the bun itself is soft and fluffy with a golden crust at the bottom, which provides great textural diversity in one bite. This dish comes with a dipping sauce reminiscent of flavors in a cha-siu bun. It's unique and adds an awesome sweet and savory flavor profile to the buns. Other Dishes - The sesame noodles (with handmade noodles) and the pan fried dumplings are also great dishes to explore on a second or third visit. The green onion pancake is chewy and less crispy than my preferred type, and the garlic cucumber is on the sweeter, mild side. Was craving some spicy beef noodle soup on a rainy day and found Yum Dumplings. Nice bright mom and pop restaurant with authentic Taiwanese dishes. We got the spiced beef rice noodle soup, beef chow fun, apocryphal wontons, and fried pork buns. I'll start with my least favorite which was sadly the wontons. The skin was just WAY too thick and barely any filling. The beef noodle soup had great flavor, but wasn't a fan of the rice noodle. It was too soggy and soft. The absolute best dish, hands down and a MUST GET are the pork fried buns!!! I'd come back for these alone. They came out piping hot, crispy bottoms, and a juicy center. I liked that these didn't need the sesame seed layer to be crispy like other places. My son doesn't normally eat them because of his allergies, but he's able to eat them here. Each table is set up with soy sauce and chili oil which were bomb and not spicy at all! But all the flavors of each item started to blend together. They really lack flavor/seasoning for what it's worth. The bao buns was lacking flavor and needed to be more crispy! I think they are still trying to find their niche and flavors! What a find!! We were in the area desiring to try another nearby restaurant which didn't open until later. The bright orange signage of Yum Dumpling caught my eye -- and since I've been longing for Chinese food, conducting a quick Yelp search, seeing the high ratings, my curiosity was piqued! Initially, the playful font and large, colorful decals adorning the windows made me think former doughnut shop, definitely take-out spot. The exterior does not belie its interior (while casual, it's upscale in many ways). Upon walking inside, receiving a warm-&-friendly greeting, seeing the attractive entrees served on actual (I believe) ceramic plates (vs. melamine or paper) and water in not just basic glass, but attractive carved glassware (vs. plastic or paper) -- even the chopsticks were reusable -- we were dining IN! I thought this was one of those order-at-the-counter places, but it's full service! Waters (ice-cold water, at that) were appreciatively refilled regularly! Oh, I wanted to taste SOOOO many items, but for this first visit, we ordered the following -- all of which were generous in portions and fabulous in flavors: Beef Chow Fun: long, wide noodles (unlike most: short and narrow) and the most tender beef (no gristle whatsoever!); Sauteed String Bean: tender, flavorful beans (with no strings!); Green Onion Pancake: 8 pieces; served piping hot; nice textures Even the single restroom is spacious and modern!
