This place was open, but nobody was dining in, but me and some friends. The food didn't look anything like the photos on their menu. And, everything tasted so fried and oily. We ordered 3 "kids meals", which was a Pikachu bun fried chicken sandwich. But, it was served all on one place with fries. Not sure why they weren't plated separately with 3 servings of fries instead. It felt like they were cutting corners. We couldn't finish the sandwiches. They had too much mayonnaise on the oily fried chicken. They even gave us extra mayonnaise on the side. The fried buns were not crunchy. They were rubbery and hard to bite into. The Pikachu bun unfortunately looked chopped, but the mantou was soft and warm. Inside was a moist an well cooked panko-crusted fried chicken along with a sweet-savory mayo, tomato, and lettuce. Interesting combo, but there was too much bun for the thin piece of chicken. The fries were pretty forgettable. The shengjian bao is pricier than spots I usually go to. I was really hyped about this place but unfortunately it wasn't all that. Location is really small, QRC in order to access the menu and unfortunately the menu failed to describe each menu option so this made it somewhat difficult on deciding what to order. We eventually decided on the vegetarian fried rice, chicken burger, assorted pan fried buns, xiao long bao, spicy wonton in red oil. The Lightening Chicken Burger, the chicken patty was fried in a panko type breading and it was delicious. The bun was a bit dense and firm (I expected a soft bun). The lettuce was wilted and the tomato sliced thinly. I got a very small dollop of mayo, about 10 fries and no ketchup. I probably would not order this again. The Spicy Wonton in Red Chili Oil was probably my favorite. The red chili oil was not spicy and had a nice vinegar/soy sauce flavor. The wonton were nice and hot and flavorful. The Veggie Fried Rice was pretty good. It had a nice flavor and served hot. It had frozen vegetables tho. The Xiao Long Bao were pretty good and served piping hot. You put it on your spoon and poke a small hole for the broth to leak out and eat it off the spoon. The assorted pan fried pork bun were good, but way too much dough. The restaurant uses the cheapest napkins known to mankind...lol and very frugal when passing out napkins. Came with my girlfriend's meetup group. 7 of us for Sunday brunch. They open at 10 so we arrived around 9:45 and were pleasantly surprised that the staff opened the door and allowed us to sit inside and peruse the menu when we arrived. Nice touch. All ordering for table service is via QR code cards on the tables. This would probably have worked better if we were all paying together. Unfortunately we were all paying separately and when one person would add an item it would appear in all the carts at the table. Frustrating and challenging to navigate. I would have greatly preferred the option to walk up to the counter and order in person, but Bun World is not set up that way. There's also a kiosk but that is only for to go ordering. Quite a few items weren't available so they're grayed out and won't allow customers to click on them. I'd estimate 20 % of the menu was not available. Our orders were jumbled, likely due to the QR ordering confusion. This was exasperated by the server who had something of a language barrier and struggled to communicate effectively in English. Overall the food was fair, prices were reasonable for the non cartoon shaped items. The shaped items were cute but pricey in my opinion. My girlfriend ordered the Chinese hamburger but it was too spicy for her. I have a much higher spice tolerance and found it fine. It looked like it had Jalapeño peppers chopped up inside which would explain it being too hot for my girlfriend. She also tried 3 types of dumplings. She had a strong preference for the soup dumplings. I tried both and didn't notice much difference in taste. I ordered fried rice with egg and shrimp. I was expecting more egg when it's called fried rice with egg and shrimp. So I was disappointed that it had what seemed like a normal amount of egg and shrimp. The fried rice tasted good. For dessert I tried the sesame buns. They were filled with red beans and were lightly sweet. They were my favorite item from the ones that my girlfriend and I ordered. All told, I don't think that I'll return. Nothing bad, just not much good and the awkward and difficult ordering process combined with the server confusion left me feeling meh overall. read more

We went on a Saturday, lots of parking and we got seated right away. You order straight from your phone with their QR code and a few min later the food is delivered to your table. We ordered the Popcorn Chicken, Kirby Bun Chicken Sandwich, Labubu Bao Buns (had red bean paste inside) and Hello Kitty Bao Bun filled with Taro. I decided to try Bun World for the first time because the place I initially wanted to eat at next door, M Joy, was too busy. Unfortunately, now I understand why this place is empty. Walking in, it was incredibly hot....in the middle of winter. I asked if I could have 4 bowls for sharing, and the staff told me to grab them myself. That would have been fine, except the only bowls available were tiny, dusty, and sticky. Other reviews mentioned cleanliness issues, and I saw it firsthand. That's definitely not a good sign. On the positive side, I liked the QR code ordering system; it was simple and convenient. More places should implement this. Now onto the food: -Shenzhen Bao - Tasted fine, nothing special. -Hot Sour Cucumber - Good. -Scallion Pancake Beef Rolls - Soggy and clearly undercooked on the pan. -Noodle Soup - Good tasting, with a nice clear broth. -Pikachu-Looking Bun- Very doughy; they use mantou-type bread, which didn't work for this burger As others have said, these are fine-dining prices for mediocre taste and tiny portions. If you're ever in this area, you'll notice there are about a dozen small, family-run restaurants to pick from, plus a few usual fast food spots. But today, I wanted to try something new, so I stopped into Bun World. I'd never been here before. It's a small place with just a few tables. You walk in and place your order on a screen. It shows you photos of the food and the name, but there's no real description of what's inside. I ended up picking two things that caught my eye just from the photos and names. One was the Corn Cheese Pan Fried Buns, and the other was the Beef Roll Pan cake, which kind of looks like a rolled-up flatbread or something like a wrap. The Beef Roll Pan cake surprised me. It had a strong Asian profile with beef, a teriyaki-style sauce, lots of greens, and fresh parsley. It almost reminded me of a beef pho soup, just wrapped up instead of in a bowl. The dough had a soft texture with just the right chew to it. It was different from anything I've had before, but I liked it. The Corn Cheese Pan Fried Buns were really unique. The dough was soft on top and crisp on the bottom, filled with what tasted like mashed corn and melted cheese. The filling was warm and sweet, almost like a dessert. It reminded me of a corn cake stuffed inside a dough ball. Sweet, rich, and kind of fun to eat. Honestly, I'm kind of laughing at myself writing this because I had no idea what I was ordering. I just went by the pictures on the screen. But I'll say this. The food was delicious, interesting, and worth trying. I would not order this again unless I was here with a very young Pokémon-obsessed child. The juicy steamed pork dumplings ($12.99) were my favorite of the items that we got. The oil they pan fried the buns in must've been a few days old as it left a sour taste on the skin of the buns. Also, the pork filling inside was raw. 0/5 Xiao long bao came out and it smelled sour. They told me it was bc it was beef. That was not stated on the menu as almost all xiao long bao I've had were pork. So they took it back and brought out the pork ones after. This was also sour. This place is pretty no nonsense, minimal frills , just focusing on delicious food kind of place. If it's your first time coming here I would probably just go with standard buns rather than one of the more exotic flavors, and most people are going to be pretty happy with things like pork or beef.
