If you like seafood, this is the place to be! Very chic and cozy vibes, the small restaurant does comfortably sit a number of people. Came here on a weeknight and we were sat without a reservation. The Orion beer was very cold and I opted for the karakotsu ramen. Really delicious seafood broth with a great warming and kind of spicy taste. Lots of tonkatsu style tuna in with the noodles and I actually really liked heat and umami. Terrific soft boiled egg as well. If you are a little wary of seafood, probably find a place that does more pork or chicken based dishes because there is a heavy fish presence here but I certainly loved it! I would come back on a cold and rainy night in search of some delicious ramen!

Yuji ramen was on my list to go for a while and I was happy to get a chance to go with my parents and husband for my birthday. You have to make a reservation prior to your visit and reservations open 2 weeks in advance. It's a very small restaurant so a reservation makes sense. We went in and were sat down at a table and were given menus and water. We wanted to order the firefly squid because we had it in Japan before and it was good but the server said there was a misprint in the menu and they don't have it today. Bummer, but good thing we had backups. We asked about the Batara zushi and was told that this was also something the restaurant didn't have today because of supply issues. I feel like if they knew they didn't have these items in stock, they could just cross it off the paper menu for that day or explain that from the get go when we sat down to avoid confusion. We ordered the hotate, two orders of sashimi, two tunakotsu ramen, one okonomi shoyu, and one uni miso. The hotate was fine and refreshing. The scallops were good but it felt overly priced for 2 scallops cut in half. It was 4 pieces served in a small bowl and our server told us to use our spoons and get the scallop and radish and the puree and broth and eat it in one bite. We all sat there and stared at the one bowl and my husband and I had to ask for 4 small plates so that we're not dripping broth everywhere. An order of sashimi is 2 pieces of each fish so we ordered 2 orders. The tuna was good and the amberjack had good flavor. The salmon was definitely not the best out of the three fish. I also noticed that the salmon and amberjack did not have the darker part removed from the fish prior to being served. The darker part is typically cut away and thrown out and not served because it contains the blood of the fish. I understand this isn't a sushi or sashimi restaurant, but it just felt odd. The broth of the okonomi shoyu ramen was really good. It had a nice fish flavor and richness. The tunakotsu ramen was also interesting and the broth had the seared tuna flavor, but wasn't strong enough. The broth felt a little diluted or it could have been stronger. It's a tiny bit spicy. Both ramens had seared tuna that was meaty. The tunakotsu visiblly had more noodles than the shoyu and the tunakotsu noodles were a tad overcooked so there was no bounce. The uni miso is brothless but the flavors are really good. The peanut and miso and Japanese peppers are an addictive combination! The only downside is that the noodles were slightly undercooked so each bite was hard and the noodles could have cooked for 30-60 seconds longer. We also had to ask for water a couple times and I felt bad because the server was busy trying to get everyone their food. Perhaps a better way for a larger party would be to give a pitcher or carafe of water to the table. Overall I would not go back but it was definitely interesting to see different proteins be used as a ramen broth base.

With all the hype we've seen on the Internet, we decided to give this place a shot. Cute and cozy ambience, they only had 2 tables and bar front so maximum of 12 seats. We came for dinner so the menu focused more on mazeman and ramen. Staff was pleasant and attentive, gave us tips and recommendations on what to order. We ordered roasted potatoes for appetizer and the ramen for dinner. Both ramen had a very strong fish flavor as I presume the menu focuses alot on fish delicacies. While it was flavorful, probably not one of our favorites. They didn't have a dessert menu which was disappointing. Also towards the end we had to rush (maybe it was an hour seating time?) because they had a party coming in ten minutes that booked the whole place. Didn't get to fully enjoy the dinner. Maybe you will have a different experience? If you love fish of course.

Food was a 3.5/5. Service was a mediocre 2/5. Server was rude and nonchalant and answered questions without even looking at us. I got up to ask him a question and without even looking up, he just waved at the bathroom door and said "bathrooms through the door" (this is not what I needed to ask) He was also wearing jeans with what my friends thought was like a pack of cigarettes sticking out of his pocket, a white almost cropped t-shirt that was ripped at the hem, and it just took away from the overall ambiance. Though the food came quick, so this was good, but this is not the treatment what were expecting for a pricier bowl of ramen such as this. We have never tried fish based ramen before so it was definitely unique. Boyfriend got the yuzu based ramen and I got the spicy Karakotsu. Mine was good but his ramen was only okay but my friends and I agreed this was not anything we need to come back for considering the portion versus the price.

First of all, this is very small. Tiny. I think 12 people at a time maximum. So it's best to get here EARLY if you want to eat. I arrived mins after opening and there were people already waiting outside. I sat by the counter seats. I did not feel rushed but be aware that given seat limits, you should prob eat fast and get out so others can enjoy as well. My trip here was prompted by a friend who told me to come try the Mazeman dish- Bacon and Egg. Well I went, I ate and I was not fully impressed with it. I think he either built it WAY up in my head OR he assumed I loved to eat fat. I liked the noodles themselves and the flavor but the dish fell apart for me when I saw what appeared to be a sea of oil/butter/fat at the bottom of the bowl. In addition, the bacon was all fat and no meat. I had to spit out a few because, sorry folks but chewing on fat turns my stomach. People say the portion is small, but you know what? At the fat level of this dish, it's def WELL PORTIONED. You do not need to eat more than that in one sitting. I reported back to my friend and he seems to still be interested, apparently he has a palate for fatty dishes. I told him not to refer me to eat dishes like this again. If you do not love to eat fat/butter, then don't get what I got. They have other options I am sure.

This 12 seater restaurant had very unique and delicious food! We got their hamachi broth ramen with seared tuna, which had such a rich flavor that we've never had before. Even their potatoes were unique and delicious. Their uni miso ramen was very Al dente but still great creamy taste. The service was quick and the ambiance was very quiet since it's a 12 seater. Worth checking out if you can get a resy!

My second favorite ramen in New York (the first being Mu Ramen) and the best Mazemen I've had! WAIT: For some reason I thought this place opened at 5:30 instead of 6 so I got there early (around 4pm) and waited almost 2 hours but was the first in line! By the time it was 5:45 there was 1 other person next to me and then by 5:50 2 more groups came. I would suggest coming 30 minutes early just to be sure that you get a good seat and in the first wave of people. ATMOSPHERE: inside is small, it reminds me of other Japanese restaurants in Japan where there isn't much seating and you can see the kitchen from where you sit. There is a bathroom! There are 4 seats at the counter and then 2 tables with 4 seats each and if you're a group of 2 you may share with another couple (slightly awkward). The food doesn't take that much time so I think if you dont make it into the first wave it'll probably be about 45 minutes waiting for the next round of tables. FOOD: Came here for the mazemen because you know I'm all about those golden, chew noodles. I saw a sun noodle box when I was waiting so you know it's good quality ramen. BACON AND EGG MAZEMEN - for those that don't know, mazemen is basically brothless ramen that is usually chewier and thicker. Similar to Tsukemen except there is no dipping. The bacon is thickly cut and slightly smoked, very fatty and delicious. The egg is an onsen egg which means it's basically almost raw so it's recommended to break it and then stir it in with the bonito flakes and greens. There is some broth on the bottom so be sure to mix everything, which adds flavor, oil and some fattiness. The overall flavors were a bit smoky and sweet, definitely not overpowering or overly salted. The noodles are flat and wider, chewy, al dente, thick and delicious! They don't give you much for $18 but you can get extra noodles for $1.50 (although it still didnt seem like that much). Don't expect to come away full. It was just the right amount for me though to feel satisfied. Overall, definitely would recommend this place but beware of the odd hours (only open certain weeknights). I went on President's Day and had to email them to make sure they were open (I don't think they have a phone number...).

I can't believe some people are dumb enough to say a ramen broth made from tuna is TOO fishy - I wonder what tuna broth taste like. Idk maybe TUNA?? I guess logical reasoning isn't too common in many folks. My gf and I originally came to the area for another restaurant and realized our original pick was not too crowded and we didn't wanna be packed in like a can of sardines. YUJI was right around the corner. The wait time was similar so we walked the neighborhood and got a txt 15 minutes earlier than expected. We were seated in the inside part of the booth and realized the table had no been wiped down since the last diners. I thought the table would be ready but it's a small space so I can understand they need quick turn around times, but I still expect a quick wipe down. We got the toro appetizer, tunakotsu, and karakotsu. Toro appetizer was fresh and is accompanied by lightly picketed cucumbers and what seems like yuzu infused wasabi. I wouldn't call myself an expert in ramen, but I do work as a ramen chef. I was pleasantly impressed by both ramen.I thought it was incredible that they were able to get the broth so thick from just tuna. I know the struggles of getting thick broth, but doing so with tuna is like playing a game on hard mode. They were able to draw out the delicate flavors of the tuna while seasoning it to be complex while balanced. I would've chosen different greens to compliment the ramen, but to each is own. I didn't know what to expect when my gf found a ramen shop based on tuna broth. I had always wanted to try for myself, but now I'm much more confident knowing that it's been executed well before. I'd definitely stop by if I'm in the neighborhood and need a hot bowl of ramen to warm my soul. PS. Quality of food here was superb. This is a non tipping establishment so prices include wages for employees. If you factor that in, it's pretty similar to other shops in nyc in price.

It's quite busy but the turnover rate is quick. The restaurant is small but has a good amount of tables and counter seating. But I've got to say I am disappointed by my overall experience based on how popular this spot is. You order from a menu you can write on, which allows you to customize your ramen selections (noodle thickness, broth, add-ons, etc). I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with spicy added. While the broth is pretty good, I think the overall ramen is a bit lacking compared to other ramen spots. I did not realize the ramen did not come with any ingredients besides the chashu meat and some scallions sprinkled on top. So this spot really requires you to customize and add on toppings. Usually other ramen spots already have selection of toppings in each type of bowl. So overall, my ramen was pretty standard and nothing outstanding. I do appreciate that you can add half or full serving of extra noodles for $1-2 if you want more. Also, like others mentioned, Ramen Danbo received a C health code rating. I didn't see this until halfway through my meal, but I probably would not have ate here if I saw it beforehand. Quite appalling for a restaurant that doesn't even have an extensive menu. Overall, the service is okay... I can't say I had any particular issues BUT I just felt like all the servers gave off the vibe that they just hated their jobs or something. It was just the vibe I got but it could just be me.

First: got combo B which was the perfect amount for 2 people since it included an appetizer, 2 ramens, 2 desserts and 2 drinks. Left very filled and happy. Would highly recommend their lemonade and Thai tea! The popcorn chicken is more batter than chicken, so it's good if you like more of a crunch. The tonkotsu and miso ramens were good, but not particularly notable. Kyuramen is a chain after all, so the food quality gives that same vibe as comforting when you're just craving some. Second: Got the yakitori platter, beef ramen (seasonal) and curry ramen and I'd personally pass on all of them. Their meats are over cooked which makes them tough. Both times the service was fine, I appreciate the call button so both don't have to wait for awkward timing issues. I do like the aesthetic of the place, especially with the privacy of the room shades/dividers. p.s. don't forget their slurp and win program! When you drink all the broth, there's a word on the bottom (or not) where you can get a free popcorn chicken/drink/etc for your next visit. I thought the chances would be pretty slim, but I got a drink voucher my second time!

The rosemary oil was very subtle (cool presentation as it was provided in a dropper!) The noodles were perfect--chewy and bouncy.
