The weather is so nice out there. If you don't have an air conditioning (HVAC) system at home, I recommend you consider going to the closest mall. The Amazing Brentwood is one of the good options. You can get an upscale food court experience inside the new building, and you can also enjoy the HVAC. Pictured Tuna Oshi - It is blowtorched and topped with sweet truffle mayonnaise and pickled shishito pepper. Brentwood Sushi - It has salmon, spicy tempura crab stick, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko. The Tuna Oshi Sushi (Oshizushi) is pressed sushi. A piece of tuna fits in the middle of the rice, and a thicker slice of tuna places on top of the rice. They are made by pressing blocks of rice and sushi toppings in a special mold. They look like a cake! It was pleasantly surprising and tasty! Sushilicious! The Brentwood Sushi is traditional sushi, and it comes in a decent portion. It was good with fresh ingredients. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: Foodcourt Kids: 3/5 A-OK for kids. Price: $20-$30 for two (3 packs of rice cake) Presentation: 1/5 Parking: 4/5 Tips: * can choose to add soup or pop for extra cost. * serves unique dishes like Foie Gras Don and Wagyu Oshi Sushi. Would I Return: Yes ‍

For me I considered this affordable and yet upscale Japanese Restaurant,Located inside the new Brentwood Town Center, one of the gigs in their food court. I came here with my cousin to try their talk of the town dishes. We ordered the following: ROLL Chicken and Cheese-grilled chicken thigh, cucumber, mozarella cheese, tobiko and yugo sauce, Very good rolls but for some reason the waiting period for this ine was so long... ABURI OSHI SUSHI Tiger prawn sushi-shrimp tempura, sushi shrimp, parmessan cheese and pesto mayo. We loved this dish the blending of flavors and the big chunks of prawns professionally arranged and served... was so awesome..really enjoyed..yummy.. BOWL Black Cod Bowl-soy maple syrup black cod and soring mix salad Salmon Ikura Bowl-salmon avocado and cucumber with some beans and greens its actually resembled to a poke bowl. Both bowl were so delish, tastebuds satisfied. This is a good place to eat variations of Japanese dishes. Just please be organized with the line up ..it was messy when we came..confusing... annoying... Otherwise our experience here all 2 thumbs up...i cant wait for my next vist

No line at 630 pm. Mall closes at 7 pm.

An upscale food court version of Yugo. If you have been to the Main Street restaurant which I love, this is sorely lacking. I was excited to see foie gras here as I always love the way foie gras is served in Japanese restaurants. It is usually brushed with a sweet glaze, giving it a different mouthfeel from the French style. So I splurged and get the foie gras sushi. 5 pieces for $22. Unfortunately they were a bit overdone so I did not get that rich buttery burst of goodness. Instead they were a bit hard and lost that melting moment. Very disappointing in the execution. The chirashizushi bowl ($15) was ok, with chopped pieces of sashimi scattered on the rice. Not a very generous topping covering the bowl. Then I bit into a small bit of fish bone. Good thing I was not super hungry and scarfed down the food, otherwise I might have choked on the bone. Be super careful when eating this. It could be an oversight of the chef not to remove the bones entirely. Shocking since the fish was in small cubes so people may not pay much attention. I hope these are just teething problems since the food court is newly opened. The aburi oshi sushi looked delicious and many customers seemed to be ordering that. The lychee tea was hot (I was expecting cold) and had a hint of lychee. I liked that it was unsweetened but it was nothing special.

Their food is restaurant quality and consistently well executed every time we visit. Definitely recommend the fois gras bowl and any of their oshi sushi. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they make each of the dishes with utmost care. The prices are a bit on the higher side but it's perfect for the occasional treat!

Tasty poke and sushi place in the new Brentwood food court. Parking is available in the paid underground lot, as well as the free lots surrounding the mall. Staff were friendly. No complaints. As of the time of writing, there are 8 bowls to choose from. I had the chirashizushi bowl which contained a nice mix of seafood and rice. The portion size is a bit smaller than that of Steve's (another poke stand a few steps away), but still fairly decent. There are way fewer non-meat toppings though. For example. there was egg but no pineapple, and the amount of edamame was way less. With that said, the ingredients are fresh, and I was still a happy customer. I didn't try any sushi or rolls and so cannot comment. The items are definitely higher end, with ingredients such as hamachi, wagyu, and foie gras. The pictures looked fancy enough.

Salmon oishi and Shrimp nori hand roll
Cristina P.

The rolls (both aburi and the hand rolls) are really delicious, and full-service restaurant quality. Unfortunately, also restaurant-quality prices as well. :( But I guess you do pay for the quality you are getting! I had the Salmon oishi and the Shrimp tempura sushi nori taco. Both were quite good. The Sushi Nori Taco is pretty unique, but I also found it difficult to each - a bit messy, and too much rice to tempura ratio. Now that I know what to expect, I would probably try this again with either the fois gras or salmon. A great option when you have a craving for this experience in the Brentwood foodcourt!

Yugo Rolls & Bowls @restaurantyugo @the.amazing.brentwood The Tuna Oshi is topped with torched rich creamy truffle mayonnaise and shishito pepper. Tuna Oshi is definitely the champion compared with the Salmon Oshi. The Salmon Oshi's topped mayonnaise is not as creamy as Tuna Oshi. Chirashi taco with extra spicy mayo

This was the worst sushi taco ever. It was full of rice, hardly any fish and small portion. Not worth $15 plus taxes! Total trip off. Probably ordered the wrong item.

Salmon aburi oshi sushi
Mel J.

Salmon aburi oshi sushi was just ok for the price. The salmon tasted fresh and good but it didn't melt in my mouth. The salmon piece was pretty thin. The mayo was good and I could definitely taste the char. The rice texture was good but it tasted bland - it lacked of the sushi rice flavor (a tad of acidity from the rice vinegar). For a quick bite, it was ok - solid 3.5 stars for the food

Brentwood salmon roll, foe grass sushi with mushrooms, short ribs on rice , tuna aburi, hamachi aburi (a bit spicy) , salmon aburi

Became a regular customer of this place since they opened @ Brentwood Mall , Burnaby . A bit pricey but I felt for their foie gras sushi roll, salmon and hamachi torch aburi sushi . We always getting ribs on rice with onion Brussels sprouts and once tried their miso soup , started adding to our meals every time we place the order Brentwood special roll with salmon taste delicious and recommending to try . The staff is kind , never forgot to give us chopsticks, sauce or napkins. On my opinion it's the best food stand at Tables , Brentwood Mall

Salmon Ikura don

I would eat here again. However, it's not cheap and it's not all that special. Yugo offers a variety of aburi sushi and rice bowls. Aburi has been all the rage for a handful of years now, so getting it here is only special because it's in a food court. I went with a Salmon Ikura don and while the portion was solid and the Ikura was nice, it wasn't anything worth writing home about. It's better than most food court sushi, but you're also paying a premium for it. Staff were friendly as can be and the order was ready in just a couple of minutes. Again, it's not bad. It's decent stuff. Would I recommend it to a friend? I dunno. If you're already at the mall? Sure.

Salmon aburi

Visited the Tables food court at the newly opened Amazing Brentwood the other day. First stop was some sushi from Yugo Roll & Bowl. Salmon Aburi Oshi ($11) Hamachi Aburi Oshi ($13) Sad to say I was disappointed. The rice was too hard and dry, not seasoned enough, not enough aburi flavour, and there was a fish bone in the salmon one :( Pretty mediocre for the price IMO. I think they're charging too much for so-so food court quality. I'd rather go to a proper restaurant for that price. Maybe I'll go for their bowls next time as I heard those were better...

Foie Gras Roll
Jolorene G.

The whole menu looked amazing. It was so hard to decide! I ended up ordering the Foie Gras Roll and it was everything I expected and more! I loved the sauteed mushrooms on each piece of sushi. The Foie Gras was excellent. You get nice decent pieces laid on the top. It was deliciously rich, creamy, and buttery. The sweet teriyaki glaze and the sweet tamago rounded out the whole roll. Some may have sticker shock when they see the prices but I say it was well worth it! Can't wait to go back with a bigger appetite and try more items like sushi tacos and aburi battera sushi!

foie gras rolls are not worth the 24 dollars before tax price they asked for. Not very fresh and hard to swallow.

Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Service was really amazing with servers explaining each dish and drinks were always topped off…read more Food was good, but maybe this isn't quite my style of omakase compared to the other ones I've tried. This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
